Euro 2024: Evra knocks VAR officials for disallowing Netherlands goal against France

Former French footballer, Patrice Evra, has hit out on Video Assistant Referee (VAR) officials for disallowing a good goal in Netherlands’ 0-0 draw with France in the ongoing Euro 2024 championship in Germany.

According to Evra, Netherlands were denied a clear goal during the match.

The ex-united defender said that the Video Assistant Referee, VAR officials, made a mistake when they canceled Xavi Simons’s goal in the second half for offside.

Evra criticized the officials on Sony Sports Network’s Football Extraaa, saying the VAR’s decision was “shocking.”

He joked that the legendary singer, Stevie Wonder was present at the VAR checking room during the match.

“It’s a shocking decision, that should be a goal. Someone should tell me about this rule.

“The Dutch player was not blocking Maignan’s view. Maybe the person sitting in the VAR room tonight was Stevie Wonder.

“It’s a clear goal. As a Frenchman, I should be finding an excuse, but I can’t; it’s a goal,” Evra said.

Former Manchester United players praise Solskjaer after exit

Former Manchester United players, David Beckham and Patrice Evra have paid tribute to sacked manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Solskjaer was relieved of his duties on Sunday, following United’s dismal 4-1 defeat by Watford, after three years in charge at Old Trafford.

The club held an emergency board meeting after their reverse at Vicarage Road – their fifth Premier League loss since the end of September – where the decision was taken to sack the 48-year-old, with Michael Carrick taking temporary charge.

Former Manchester United midfielder, Beckham and Evra took to social media to bid farewell to Solskjaer.

Patrice Evra reveals Juventus’ biggest mistake

Patrice Evra has addressed Juventus fans over the state of the club.

The former defender published a video on his Instagram page, wearing the Bianconeri jersey and speaking in Italian to the fans.

“Juventus fans, it has been a long time since I have spoken to you. I love you, I miss you and I care about you,” said Evra.

“I am suffering like all Juventus fans, but it’s easy to talk about that when you are not the President, but my opinion is from someone who sweat blood for this jersey.

“Juventus will not win the Scudetto because of Inter, who have worked everything out because they did it by bringing in lots of ex-Juventus people. Antonio Conte is a coach from another planet and Giuseppe Marotta performed miracles at Juventus, buying great players.

“I wish Andrea Pirlo well, he is a great friend, I hope he can stay at Juventus for as long as possible, but I must also say that the biggest mistake was firing Allegri: he is a smart coach, the fans criticised him even when he won and took us to the Champions League Final. You thought he was a Milan man, but believe me, he loved and still loves Juventus.”

  • Evra blows hot, explains why Man Utd is failing

Evra blows hot, explains why Man Utd is failing

Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has blasted his old club after Saturday’s home defeat to Crystal Palace.

Evra took to social media to let his feelings known.

He declared: “If I have a problem with Ed Woodward, I won’t talk on social media.

“I will just call him or meet him face-to-face about what I think about something.

“The only problem I would say to Ed is trusting people he should never trust. He even trusts people outside the club that he shouldn’t. That’s what I can say about Ed.

“Before us, Bobby Charlton, George Best, they make the history of the club. All those people they make the history of the club and we try to respect it, ’99 and us ’08. Just some people they want to blow all this legacy away. For what? Business?”

Evra, tellingly, blasted the lack of football people involved in negotiations.

“When we want a player and they cost say £20m, we end up trying to buy him for £100m. Now those players don’t even want our money anymore,” Evra said.

“A sporting director from a top football club called me and asked me to tell Matthew Judge to answer his phone.

“The club needs to stop being so arrogant. There are certain people at the club right now that don’t even respect Sir Alex Ferguson.

“People need to understand we [United] send lawyers to talk to players. So when we send lawyers they talk about numbers, they are not people from the football world.

“At the time, Fergie, David Gill time, we didn’t hear anything in the paper, but Van Persie, Evra, Vidic, Ferdinand, everything was fast. When Manchester United need a player they go and they talk them face-to-face.”

Evra also took aim at some former teammates.

He concluded: “I love this club and maybe one day I will work for this club again but I will work with my loyalty and I will never lie to any person who loves this club.

“I think some people who work for this club are damaging this club. That’s why we have to tell the truth to the fans.

“I know some people are scared to speak up about because they may not get a job in the future, I don’t care, I don’t need Manchester United. I love Manchester United.”
