Man City discussing shock move for Paul Pogba

Premier League giant Manchester City are making a shock move for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

Pogba is out of contract at the end of next month when he is virtually certain to leave Manchester United for a second time after rejoining the club for a then world record transfer fee of £89million in 2016.

The Daily Mail says City are exploring the option of signing Pogba from their arch rivals ahead of next season.

Pep Guardiola wants to add a new versatile central midfielder ahead of next season to fill the void that is likely to be left by captain Fernandinho, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

And Pogba is among a list of candidates the club have identified for the role Guardiola wants filled.

Under transfer regulations, City cannot make a formal offer to Pogba until the end of the season.

That, perhaps, puts them at a disadvantage given overseas clubs have been able to formally discuss the possibility of signing Pogba since the turn of the year.

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has shown a sign of leaving Old Trafford after exiting the club’s squad Whatsapp group.

The 29-year-old is a free agent at the end of the season, and United’s £89million club-record signing looks certain to leave Old Trafford.

While Pogba’s ultimate destination has yet to be confirmed, it is clear that the World Cup winner will not be a United player next season.

And the Mirror reports Pogba has told his United team-mates he is on his way this summer and is even said to have left the WhatsApp player group the squad uses to stay in touch.

The Dutchman will take over from interim manager, Ralf Rangnick as from next season’s campaign.

Current interim manager Ragnick has created impression that Paul Pogba may have played his last game for the club this season and by extension his last game for the club at least for now because of a calf muscle injury.

Pogba’s current contract with Man United will expire at the end of the season and he is widely expected to leave the Red Devils.

Meanwhile, incoming coach Ten Hag has already identified Pogba’s replacement should he leave the Old Trafford side.

Time for Paul Pogba to leave Man Utd – Petit

Former France international Emmanuel Petit says Paul Pogba needs to leave Manchester United.

United are attempting to convince Pogba to sign a new deal and stay as his current contract enters it’s final two months.

But Petit told the Mirror: “Paul Pogba should not stay at Manchester United after the summer. It’s time for him to leave the club.

“His body language says it all that he is not happy there. He is not the only one by the way, there are so many frustrated players in the club!

“If you ask the whole locker room, I’m sure half of them (the players) would actually like to leave … there are no positive vibes. They have problems on and off the field. These are two different worlds.”

Paul Pogba attacks Manchester United coach Ralf Ragnick

France international and Manchester united midfielder Paul Pogba has attacked interim boss,Ralf Ragnick for playing him out of position at the club.

Pogba also claims that he has wasted 5 years from his career playing at Manchester United, saying another season is dead.

Pogba’s contract expires this season as he’s about to be a free agent as talks to renew has continued to hit the rocks.

The likes of PSG, Juventus and Real Madrid are all interested in signing him as a free agent.

The midfielder was a serial title winner at Juventus, and won the World Cup with France.

After saying he intends to ‘catch up’ on his barren years at United, Pogba told Le Figaro: “You have to be honest, the last five seasons have not satisfied me – really not at all.

“This year it is dead, we won’t win anything. Whether it is with Manchester United or at another club, I want to win trophies.”

Speaking about his manager, Rangnick, Pogba said, “It’s simple with France, I play and I play in my position – I know my role and I feel the confidence of the coach and the players,’ he continued.

“It’s normal to feel a difference at Manchester United because it’s hard to be consistent when you often have a change to your position, or the team system, or your partners.

“I get along very well with [France boss Didier Deschamps], he gave me a role that I know, but at Manchester United, do I really have a role? I ask the question but I don’t have an answer.”

Pogba’s next destination still unknown as plot to have him sign new contract has not yeilded any positive result.

Personal trainer insists Paul Pogba leaving Man Utd

Paul Pogba’s personal trainer has announced the Frenchman is leaving Old Trafford.

Pogba, 28, is off contract in June, with the likes of Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain on high alert with his big-money deal set to expire in June.

And his trainer – referred to as ‘Coach Maddy’ – insists the midfielder is targeting more lucrative accolades.

Speaking of the midfielder’s immediate future, Maddy told Calciomercato: “Regarding Pogba, at the end of June he will no longer be a Manchester United player.

“I think it is right for him to look elsewhere, perhaps Manchester also wants to renew themselves and the most sensible thing is to separate.

“The time will come to change and try new challenges, new emotions, new environments for both Pogba and Manchester, to try something different and maybe they will both be happy.

“Right now I think he’s enjoying himself, they have a good team, especially since [Cristiano] Ronaldo decided to return. The problem is that the results don’t come.

“A top player doesn’t waste his time on minor competitions, he wants to be motivated to play for ambitious trophies.”

  • Paul Pogba not good enough for Man Utd – Schmeichel

Paul Pogba not good enough for Man Utd – Schmeichel

Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel has criticised the performance of Paul Pogba after he scored in this week’s draw at Burnley.

United dropped out of the Premier League top four following another disappointing result, having taken the lead when Pogba scored in the 18th minute.

But after Jay Rodriguez scored to earn rock bottom Burnley a point, there was justifiable criticism of United’s inability to kill games off.

“I said before the game, Pogba played fantastic on Friday night. If Pogba plays like that we want to keep him, we desperately want to keep him,” the Dane told Premier League Productions.

“But he was completely out of the game today and you can’t have players doing that.

“That’s not good enough for Man United. At Man United, you’ve got to have a very, very high low-level and at a minimum you’ve got to perform to that.

“You’ve got to have this type of urgency and understanding of when you need to push forward to get the goal you need.

“In the last 20 minutes, the way Man United played was all in the same tempo and all in the same pattern.

“There were no pressure balls into Burnley’s box. There were no questions being asked.

“Having played in the team, having understood what was required of you, that’s one of the more disappointing things for me to see that has gone out of it.

“I think most of this is with the players. It’s not the coaches or the managers.”

  • EPL: Man Utd chiefs prepared to sell Paul Pogba

EPL: Man Utd chiefs prepared to sell Paul Pogba

Manchester United chiefs are prepared to sell Paul Pogba in January.

The Daily Star says the news comes after it emerged the French international could be sidelined for up to 10 weeks with a damaged thigh muscle.

But with the World Cup winner running down his contract at Old Trafford and able to sign a deal with another club in January, it means he might have kicked his last ball for United.

United bosses would prefer to keep Pogba for the rest of the season and are willing to let him leave for nothing next summer.

But should Real Madrid or Paris Saint Germain be willing to offer a sizeable fee for the midfielder in the next transfer window, then United would consider cutting their losses and letting him go.

One concern for United is them not being able to replace Pogba with a major signing in January.

Pogba, who will turn 29 in March, has rejected the offer of a new and improved deal at United.
