Man Utd officials furious with Raiola after Pogba claims

Manchester United officials are furious after the outburst from Paul Pogba’s agent in today’s Italian press.

United have been left with a “frustration, bordering on anger” over Mino Raiola’s sudden declaration that Pogba wants to leave the club.

The Athletic are reporting that the club are annoyed that Raiola has gone public just a day before arguably their biggest game of the season so far at RB Leipzig, a match they cannot afford to lose.

It is also safe to say that the idea Raiola has “a great relationship” with United can be forgotten, with the club left exasperated at his latest actions.

On the outside the club are determined to be seen to be focusing solely on the Leipzig clash, for which Pogba is in the squad.

But inside the corridors of power there are likely to be several conversations ongoing about just how United handle Raiola’s outburst.

It’s over for Pogba at Man Utd – Agent

Paul Pogba’s time at Manchester United is over, according to his agent Mino Raiola.

The Frenchman has made 13 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils this season, but has started just six of those games.

Asked about the midfielder’s future at the club, Raiola said in an interview with Tuttosport: “I can say that it’s over for Paul Pogba at Manchester United.”

He added: “Paul is unhappy with Man United as he is no longer able to express himself in the way that he would like and as he is expected to. Paul needs a new team, a change of air.

“He is under contract for the next 18 months and it will expire in the summer of 2022.”

Juventus and Real Madrid have constantly been linked with the World Cup winner.

Pogba denies quitting France team over Macron comments

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba on Monday denied media reports which said he quit the France national team over comments made by the country’s President Emmanuel Macron.

The comments were perceived to be against Islam.

The French leader this month had declared war on “Islamist separatism”, which he believes is taking over some Muslim communities in France.

A newspaper report alleged that Pogba, a practising Muslim, reacted to Macron’s comments by quitting the national team.

“Unacceptable,” the 27-year-old wrote on a Twitter post along with a “fake news” sticker on a screenshot of the headline.

“So …….. (the newspaper) did it again,” he added. “Absolutely 100 per cent unfounded news about me are going around, stating things I have never said or thought.

“I am appalled, angry, shocked and frustrated some ‘media’ sources use me to make total fake headlines in the sensible subject of French current events and adding the French national team to the pot.

“I am against any and all forms of terror and violence.

“Unfortunately, some press people don’t act responsibly when writing the news, abusing their press freedom, not verifying if what they write/reproduce is true, creating a gossip chain without caring (if) it affects people’s lives and my life.”

Pogba added that he was taking legal action against the publishers.

“We reported on a story that Paul Pogba had taken the decision to quit the French national football team after it was published on a sports website,” the newspaper said in a statement.

“The story was also published by two other newspapers and other websites.

“Subsequently, Paul Pogba has denied the claim and we have updated our story accordingly. We apologise for any upset caused.”

The report came days after Macron paid tribute to a French history teacher who was beheaded by an Islamist radical.

He was beheaded for using cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad in a class on freedom of expression for 13-year-olds.

Pogba close to signing five-year Man Utd contract

Paul Pogba is close to signing a new five-year contract at Manchester United.

The Sun says United are confident of announcing the news at the end of the season.

The Frenchman, 27, has had a change of heart since expressing his desire to leave the club this time last season.

Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reinstated him into his post-lockdown team after he recovered from an ankle injury.

While Pogba looked tired and made a couple of errors against Southampton — one of which led to their first goal in Monday’s 2-2 draw — he has generally been playing well.

Solskjaer had started to plan for the future without him but has noticed a real change in attitude and form.

Pogba wants to be social media leader – Keane

Manchester United great Roy Keane says Paul Pogba will be happy not being the main main in the dressing room.

Pogba scored in last night’s victory over Aston Villa.

Keane said on Sky Sports: “We’ve been saying the last year or two Pogba needs to take more of a lead with the team. I don’t think he wants to be a leader.

“I think Pogba will enjoy Maguire coming in, showing different leadership skills, Fernandes as well on the pitch, Pogba likes that, he doesn’t want to be the main guy.

“He wants to be the main guy on social media, but on the pitch he’s thinking ‘I’ll be glad of that, I’ll just be under the radar.’ He looks like he’s enjoying himself a bit more.”

A late penalty from Bruno Fernandes secured a 1-1 draw for Manchester United against Tottenham on Friday .

Fernandes struck from the spot in the 81st minute after Paul Pogba was brought down by Eric Dier, the goal cancelling out Steven Bergwijn’s superb first-half opener.

A woeful David de Gea error from Bergwijn’s first-half strike (27) looked like it would end United’s unbeaten streak on their Premier League return, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were hugely improved after the break with the introduction of fit-again Pogba, and Spurs could not withstand the onslaught as it ended 1-1.

Paul Pogba returned to action for first time since 26 December.
