Juve want zero cash deal for Pogba

Juventus have informed Manchester United they do not wish to do a cash deal for Paul Pogba.

Juve sports director Fabio Paratici admitted their interest in Pogba over the weekend, though warned the midfielder would have to be realistic about his personal demands.

Tuttosport says Juve do not wish to discuss a cash deal for the Frenchman and instead would prefer a player exchange.

Interestingly, regarding Pogba’s contract demands, Juve could have an advantage on rivals Real Madrid and PSG due to Italy’s favourable tax laws.

It’s been suggested in Turin that United are demanding an offer of the value of €100m to part with Pogba this summer.

Pogba blames Ferguson for Man Utd exit

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba says a lack of trust from Sir Alex Ferguson lead to him joining Juventus in 2012.

Pogba was the United’s academy prized youngster and was expected to star for the first-team for many years.

However, the World Cup winner snubbed a contract offer from the Red Devils and made the switch to Serie A, where he stayed for four years before returning to Old Trafford in 2016.

In a candid interview with United’s official podcast, the 27-year-old has explained why he was left ‘heartbroken’ by his former manager.

“It was a very difficult decision for me, with the manager as well and everything with the contract,” said Pogba.

“It wasn’t the contract but more like the trust with the manager. Obviously, the manager, for me, is still the best manager in history. When they asked me to sign the contract, if I didn’t sign, a lot of things happened. I didn’t train, I went back to training by myself and stuff like this.

“It made me a bit angry and was nothing about the money. It’s just about you’re a player, we believe in you, you believe in you and, me, I just want to play football. That is all I want. I want to play.

“When I had, like I’ve said before, the chance to play or to come on in this game against Blackburn, that’s when really I had heartbreak. There was no midfield here – people were injured, [Paul] Scholes wasn’t there, I think he’d retired already and it was before he came back. Rafael played in midfield with Ji-sung Park and I didn’t come on in this game. We lost the game.

“I was on the bench warming up and I thought I would come on and it was a big opportunity for me. I didn’t and things happen. The manager has a choice in everything but that day is when I had my heart broken. I told Pat [Evra] that was the chance, I’d been training with him and he’d been talking to me and saying I would have a chance. But that happened, I didn’t play and I was kind of upset.

“So I went to Juventus, which was a hard decision for me. Hard because it was going to another club as well where I was obviously not as one of the starting XI but I’ve got to come as a young player. A young, talented player and you have to show yourself again. I went and it was a big challenge for me. I said: ‘Go for it, no problem. I want to show I am ready to play for the team’.”

I’ve been frustrated, hungry to return to action – Pogba

Paul Pogba’s stint on the sidelines has made him more determined to succeed on his return from a layoff for a foot injury, the Manchester United midfielder has said.

Pogba’s injury restricted him to eight appearances so far this season, but he was primed to return before professional football in England was suspended because of the COVID-19 outbreak.

“I’ve been frustrated, a long time ago. Now I’m almost there, so I’m just thinking about getting back and training fully with the team and everything,” the 27-year-old said in an official club podcast.

“You think bad, but I’ve never had something like this in my career, so I always take it in a good way. It makes me more hungry to come back and do well.”

The France international suffered a foot injury in August that he aggravated by continuing to play.

“I had a cast on it, a plaster-cast, so it went very well but too well.

“The bone got bigger and so, when I came back again, I played those two games against Watford and Newcastle, I could feel something again.”

He underwent surgery in January and now cannot wait to return to action.

“So I had to have an operation and now here I am. I don’t feel anything, and, hopefully, I’ll be back very soon.”

Pogba who has only made eight appearances for Manchester United this season because of the ankle injury, took to Instagram to joke about his state of health.

Speaking on his Instagram stories on Tuesday afternoon, Pogba said: ‘I don’t even know if I’m high or sober, well I don’t look sober. You see my ankle like that, I can’t even feel my toes, but I’m still alive, that’s good news. I’ll keep you updated. I’ve still got the smile’.

Looking at two pieces of bread, he said: ‘It’s one thing I don’t understand, what do you want me to do with this? I can drink my pee-pee, it looks like apple juice, fresh one. I think people told me that I look drunk. I didn’t drink alcohol, they give me some things on my arm, I don’t know what’s that. I woke up, I couldn’t lift up my leg and I was like ‘where am I, in Manchester? In Paris? In Guinea?’

The France midfielder has missed over two months of the season due to an ankle problem but returned to action in Manchester United’s 2-0 defeat to Watford in December.

Also on Boxing Day, Pogba featured in the Red Devils’ 4-1 Premier League win over Newcastle United but missed the win over Burnley.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the 26-year-old missed the game against Burnley after complaining to Solskjaer he “didn’t feel right”.The midfielder then traveled to France to coach a team featuring his two brothers at a charity fundraiser.

Conspiracy theorists claim that Pogba’s incessant injury might be fake while linking it to a possible transfer to another club in the January transfer window but his agent Mino Raiola told Sky Sports that the midfielder will not leave the club because he “wants to win trophies” with the club.

Tuanzebe was given the honour in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup third-round clash at home against Rochdale.

Solskjaer told talkSPORT: “Axel is a captain in the making, he’s a leader – why not give to young kids?

“We know we can give it to Sergio [Romero] and we can give it to Paul, that’s no problem and they’ve been captains before.

“But it was Axel today and how does he handle it? He was absolutely fine, he enjoyed it.

“It’s just a way of telling him that we trust him.”
