Pele collapses again, rushed to hospital

Brazil legend, Pele, has again collapsed and immediately rushed to the hospital.

According to Sky Sports, the 78-year-old has been admitted in a hospital in Paris, France on Wednesday.

Pele will remain in hospital as he is being monitored by doctors in Paris.

“Reports say that Pele has been admitted to hospital in Paris but is not thought to be in a life-threatening condition,” Sky Sports tweeted on Wednesday.

Pele, who spent his career with Santos before a two-year spell at New York Cosmos in the mid-70s, scored over 1000 goals.

  • I’ll never match Pele’s goals tally – Mbappe

World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe has often been compared to Pele but the Paris St-Germain (PSG) striker does not think he will match the Brazil great’s scoring tally during his career.

Mbappe, who became only the second teenager to score in a World Cup final as France beat Croatia 4-2 last year, has so far netted 103 goals in his career.

Pele claims he scored 1,025 goals during his playing career.

“Even with the goals in playgrounds, goals on the PlayStation, I can never equal 1,250 (sic) goals,” said the 20-year-old as he met Pele at a sponsors’ event in Paris.

“It’s really a long way off. I’ll try and get as close as I can, but I think I’ll still be a long way off by the end of my career.

Pele, who spent his career with Santos before a two-year spell at New York Cosmos in the mid-70s, wished Mbappe luck.

“I hope that he gets there. To 1,000 it’s okay,’’ the three-times World Cup winner said, “because I have one thousand and twenty five! If he gets one thousand, it’s okay.”

  • Messi has ‘only one skill’, I have several – Pele

Messi has ‘only one skill’, I have several – Pele

Football legend, Edson Arantes do Nascimento, known as Pelé has stated that he is out of the league of five-time Ballon d’Or winner, Lionel Messi and there is no basis for comparison.

Pele said, Lionel Messi “only has one skill”, and even his fellow Argentine Diego Maradona was “much better” than him, reports Goal.com.

Pele suggested that the 31-year-old is one-dimensional and too reliant on his left foot to be compared to other iconic figures at the top of the football game.

A man, who netted over 1000 goals in his career and won the World Cup on three occasions told Brazillian media, Folha de Sao Paulo, “How can you make a comparison between a guy who heads the ball well, shoots with the left, shoots with the right and another who only shoots with one leg, only has one skill and doesn’t head the ball well?”

How can you compare? To compare with Pele, it has to be someone who shoots well with the left, shoots well with the right, and scores headers.”

Pele added, “As far as I’m concerned, Maradona was one of the best players ever. If you ask me, ‘Was he better than Messi?’ Yes, he was. Much better.

[Franz] Beckenbauer, [Johan] Cruyff were also excellent players.”

  • Football Legend Pele says Neymar plays more like Messi not Ronaldo

Brazilian Legend Pele claims fellow countryman Neymar is more like Lionel Messi than Cristiano Ronaldo.

Neymar, 26, who finished third behind Ronaldo and Messi for the Ballon d’Or in 2015 and 2017, has been compared to both players, especially in his native country Brazil.

Pele claims Neymar’s ability as a playmaker is more similar in style to Barcelona forward Messi, while Real Madrid forward Ronaldo’s finishing reminds him of former Brazil team-mates Vava and Coutinho, with whom he won the 1962 World Cup.

“Neymar has been compared with Cristiano Ronaldo. So I’ve said several times, told friends, in Europe, given interviews… Cristiano Ronaldo is an excellent player, he could be like our Vava, our Coutinho, the finisher,” Pele told ESPN.

“Neymar is really more of a Messi-style, one who constructs the play, but scores the goal also.”

PSG forward Neymar is currently out of action with a foot injury but is expected to recover in time to play for Brazil at this summer’s World Cup in Russia.

  • Pelé Comments On Possibility Of Nigeria, African Teams Winning The World Cup

Edson Arantes do Nascimento, otherwise known as Pelé, has commented on the possibility of the Super Eagles and other African representatives winning the World Cup.

The three-time world champion with the Brazilian national team had predicted that an African country would win the World Cup before the end of the 20th century, but African teams have not reached the semifinals of the competition to this day.

”I said so, because it’s amazing how many talented Africans are playing around the world, but when the time comes for national teams, then problems begin, ” Pelé told RT.

”It’s hard to say why so, because there is no special reason for that.

”Africans play leading roles in all positions, with the exception of goalkeepers. And the teams do not show themselves that way.”

Nigeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and Senegal will fly Africa’s flag at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
