Wike backtracks on promises to release Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium for PDP rally in Rivers

The Nyesom Wike-led Rivers Government has backtracked on its promises to release the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium for the rally of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.

Recall that the state government in January approved the venue for the event scheduled to hold on February 11.

Commissioner for Sports, Christopher Green formally conveyed the decision of the administration to Governor Aminu Tambuwal.

The Sokoto born -politician is the Director-General of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, PCC.

Governor Wike bacGreen cited alleged plot by the Atiku campaign to share the venue with a faction of the All Progressives Congress, APC, loyal to Tonye Cole, the governorship candidate.

The official said credible intelligence indicated the PDP council was working with the APC to “accommodate and share the approved facility”.

Green noted that government records show APC activities “have always been marred by violence due largely to irreconcilable internal conflicts within the party”.

The commissioner mentioned “shootings and killings” during protests that followed the nomination of delegates for primaries and detonation of explosives in the course of campaigns.

The letter said the Rivers government is unable to risk damage to the valuable stadium “which your use of the same in collaboration with your Tonye Patrick Cole APC faction will definitely expose it to”.

2023: PDP leadership will hear from me on Tuesday – Wike

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has promised to knock the the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) today over issues within the party.

Wike made this known while campaigning for the guber candidate at the Etche Local Government Area of the state.

Wike reacted to the alert by the PDP national leadership about some lawyers appearing in court without legal briefs and authorization.

The PDP said it would not hesitate to take stringent measures on any infractions that are misleading, questionable and fraudulent.

The spokesperson Debo Ologunagba referred to Article 42 of PDP’s constitution (as amended in 2017) which places the exclusive responsibility of conducting litigations on the National Legal Adviser.

Ologunagba stated that only the official has the competence to engage external solicitors to handle cases on behalf of the party.

On Monday, Wike warned the PDP leadership that any attempt to slam anti-party allegations against him and allies would have consequences.

“Anti-party begets anti-party. You seen what they did? We took small parties in Rivers to court…APC, SDP.

“The people in Abuja that say they are national went and collude, wrote to our lawyers to hands off the case in plan to kill the cases we filed.

“I have told him to remove them. No problem, the cases will die. Me too, I’ll hit them back by tomorrow,” the Rivers helmsman hinted.

  • Tinubu unfit to lead the country – Najaatu Muhammad

Tinubu unfit to lead the country – Najaatu Muhammad

Embattled former  All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Najaatu Muhammad has stated reasons why Bola Tinubu shouldn’t have emerged as the Party’s flagbearer for the forthcoming general elections in the country.

She said Tinubu’s blunders during campaign rallies confirmed his poor health and state of mind which would affect governance if he emerges the country’s president.

Hajiya Muhammad last week resigned as Director of Civil Society in the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).

In an interview with pressmen,  the outspoken politician said Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would have been a better APC standard bearer.

“He’s a professor, he’s brilliant. For few weeks he was given to govern this country, he did a great job.

“But they said all sort of things against him. Tinubu controls the strongest propaganda machine in this country, which is the Lagos–Ibadan press,” she said.

She recalled her shock when Tinubu allegedly admitted he didn’t have a blueprint for the North and asked her to present what she thinks the region needs.

Muhammad said supporters of the former Lagos governor were selfish, greedy and were only after the funds at his disposal.

The activist said they know Tinubu is “incapable, handicapped”, but are also aware that “he’s already a cabal that they can depend on for the piece of a pie”.

“I have not spoken to anyone, in or outside APC, from up North that told me or that believes Asiwaju is capable. All they are saying is that you know we have to get something out of it.”

The Police Service Commission (PSC) commissioner explained that she followed her conscience by leaving the APC because “to be silent is criminal”.

Muhammad lamented that some Nigerians have allowed themselves to be pulled by the nose, “some out of ignorance, some out of tribal or religious sentiments”.

Mohammad left APC to join the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the 2023 general elections in the country.

  • 2023: Fayose, Kolawole, others shun Atiku’s campaign rally in Ekiti

2023: Fayose, Kolawole, others shun Atiku’s campaign rally in Ekiti

Former governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose; former governorship candidate, Bisi Kolawole; acting PDP State Chairman, Lanre Omolase; seven of the nine PDP National Assembly candidates and 20 of 26 House of Assembly candidates all shunned the Peoples Democratic Party presidential rally in the state.

However, other members of the Party all trooped out to receive the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, for a campaign rally on Tuesday.

Findings show that, earlier in the day, commercial vehicles and motorbikes had been off the roads leaving inter and state commuters stranded.

Although the PDP members alleged that the transporters did not work in a bid to frustrate those who might want to attend the rally, the commercial transport operators said their action followed statewide prayers observed by their associations.

Atiku, in his address to the rally, assured that if elected in the February 25 election, his administration would deploy all resources to attract socio-economic development, adding that he would be deliberate in the construction of roads leading to Ekiti State beginning with the Ado-Akure Road.

According to the Waziri of Adamawa, his administration will be ready to give the state a facelift if he emerges the president of the country.

He said “I am highly impressed with the huge crowd we are seeing here today despite antics of the APC government to cripple and sabotage the rally with artificial fuel scarcity and stoppage of drivers from Ekiti roads; let me assure you that we will make you happy for making us happy today.

  • 2023: Atiku will emerge the president without the support of G5 governors – PDP

2023: Atiku will emerge the president without the support of G5 governors – PDP

As the 2023 general elections draws  nearer, politicians who are loyal to the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar have  noted that the Waziri of Adamawa will come out tops at the polls, regardless of the position taken by the G5 governors.

They gave assurance that Atiku will emerge victorious with or without the impact of the G5 governors who have decided to withdraw support for him.

They added that the solidarity enjoyed by Atiku cut across party lines, noting that the task to rescue Nigeria from “the ills” of the past seven and a half years should be supported by well-meaning Nigerians, irrespective of their religious and political leanings.

One of the loyalists and the  Director of Strategic Communication, National Election Management Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Committee, Chief Dele Momodu told newsmen in Abuja that Atiku has a unigue character different from other contestants in the race.

According to him, there is no contestant as of now that can withstand Atiku Abubakar in the race to Aso Rock in 2023.

He said “There is no candidate today that can stop Atiku Abubakar from becoming President of Nigeria. None of the candidates has his pedigree, exposure, competence, temperament, and network. He has paid his dues, having staked his life in the growth and development of democracy in Nigeria in the past 29 years. His crowning glory will come in 2023.

“I heard one of the G5 governors saying yesterday that he will announce his preferred presidential candidate in January. We hope they will announce Atiku but with or without the support of these governors, Atiku is winning the election. He will become the President of Nigeria. This is not rhetoric.

“Everyone contesting can list thousands of reasons they should be voted for but we need a man who is an expert at job creation, a unifier, a Nigerian that Nigerians can trust. Wherever he is called to share his vision, he goes there no matter how inconvenient it is. Unlike those who run away from town halls, Atiku is always available to speak about the issues. While others attack him, his focus is on the issues. We do hope these candidates will man up to debate him on issues of security, job creation, economy, sports, infrastructure, and what have you,” he said.

Meanwhile, another loyalist of the PDP candidate, Timothy Osadolor, has said that the Nyesom Wike led G5 governors  are not being taken seriously anymore and as such not posing any threat that could stop Alhaji Atiku from emerging the president come 2023.

PDP set up special team to re-unite Atiku, G5 governors – Obi

The chairman and director general of Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Council in Anambra State, Senator Obi and Professor Okonkwo have revealed that there is a special team working tirelessly to resolve the imbroglio between the party’s Presidential candidate and the aggrieved G5 governors in Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

This was made known on Wednesday in Awka, the Anambra state capital, during a pre-campaign flag-off press conference to announce the visit of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar on Thursday.

The campaign council also used the opportunity to present its itinerary for the candidate in Anambra State.

Senator Ben Obi and Okonkwo who addressed journalists said efforts are ongoing to reconcile Atiku with the G5 governors, and that the state is also poised to give Atiku victory in the 2023 election.

Obi said: “It is a common thing for political parties to have crises. That is not out of place, and we have a team that is working to resolve the crisis in the PDP.

“This is not something we want to make public, but let me tell you that the G5 governors are also willing for peace, Wike (Rivers State governor) has said so. We have a team that is working on that, and for now, we are not willing to make the outcome public, but we are working.”

Okonkwo also added that: “Even in those states where those rifts are going on, there are still campaigns going on, and the plan is to vote PDP from top to bottom. In Abia, you have heard of the five-over-five slogan, and all our governors are still campaigning for Atiku.

“In all their (G5 Governors’) demands, they have never said they have any problem with Atiku personally. It is not a matter that can not be resolved.”

Speaking on the itinerary of the candidate in Anambra on Thursday, Okonkwo said the party expects massive mobilisation, and that a number of activities have been lined up for him.

“Arrival is by 10 am, we will meet him at the airport and also move to the Governor’s Lodge, where the presidential candidate will meet with Governor Chukwuma Soludo. From there he will have an interactive non-partisan meeting with the traditional rulers of Anambra State.

“He will commission the campaign office, and also interact with town union leaders, market leaders, at Ekwunife Centre, before hitting the campaign arena.”

Recall that the Independent National Electoral commission INEC has fixed February 25th 2023 for the presidential and National Assembly election in the country.

  • 2023 Elections: Nyesom Wike will be jailed – Ned Nwoko explodes

2023 Elections: Nyesom Wike will be jailed – Ned Nwoko explodes

Senator Ned Nwoko has once again taken a swipe at fellow party member, Nyesom Wike for his anti-party activities in the Peoples Democratic Party.

Nwoko who is the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) candidate for Delta North senatorial district in next year’s election has been at loggerheads with Wike over the latter’s refusal to support the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Recall that recently Wike attacked  Nwoko over the $418 Paris Club refunds.

However, in his reaction,  Nwoko, in a statement issued by his Media Directorate, which he personally signed, noted that Wike will soon be jailed for his alleged corrupt practices in Rivers state.

Nwoko also accused Wike of making fraudulent claims on the alleged payments of 13% derivation to South-South States, describing Wike’s claim as fraudulent.

The statement reads in Part “Wike carelessly dabbled again into the issue of the $418 Paris Club refunds, a legitimate entitlement of Prince Ned Nwoko, whose patriotic ingenuity, as a time-honoured lawyer, secured billions of dollars in favour of local and State governments, including Wike’s administration as a beneficiary.”

He said Wike was chastising him, (Nwoko) for laying claim to monies the international lawyer genuinely earned and approved by the Federal government following various court judgements and 3 separate EFCC reports supporting the payments.

“When has demands for professional fees duly sanctioned by statutory authorities and scrutinised by anti-corruption agencies like EFCC and DSS become ‘fraud’.

“We are appalled by Wike’s wicked and despicable wild goose chase.

“Ned Nwoko Media directorate asserts on the contrary, the Rivers State governor received a whopping share of over 60 billion Naira from the Paris Club refunds to States, thanks to the sterner stuff of Prince Ned Nwoko who took the Federal government to Courts on behalf of the States and local governments and won, over the arbitrary deductions.”

Nwoko continued by saying that he’s got  good evidence that Wike did not only collected the huge funds but squandered the proceeds through phantom projects and frivolous travels around the world in crude obscene ego trips.

“Like discerning members of the public, we are aware of Wike’ s primitive hoarding of illicit loot for elections, a dubious game plan that can only be contrived by a man of opaque character.

“Wike spoke of corruption among some governors. Kettle cannot call Pot black. A man with both hands stained with filthy lucre lacks moral justification to utter one word on embezzlement. To go sanctimonious is unpardonable criminality. Wike, no matter the pretence, has exposed himself towards jail.

“We need to remind Wike for the umpteenth time, in case he has forgotten, that 25 innocent children in life support machines died in a Rivers State- owned hospital the same hour because the hospital could not afford electricity. He could not provide electricity, having diverted all funds to meaningless ventures for self aggrandisement.

“At the appropriate time when his dictatorial reign on the high horse is over, he would surely answer charges of criminal negligence at the International Court of Justice for the sad deaths of those children.

“It is laughable that a man of monumental corrupt tendencies and wanton profligacy could so unabashedly talk when his activities connote unimaginable scam and fraudulence.

“Who was Wike when Ned Nwoko returned to Nigeria in 1999 to win the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal constituency seat and mount the green chambers of the National Assembly as a distinguished member, House of Representatives?

“That he was spoon-fed to become governor through godfather syndrome in 2015, desperately grabbing public funds to his chest, should not be a licence to brag and bully. Let Wike disclose the source of wealth he now flaunts with arrogant vainglorious relish. Can he survive outside dirty politics?” Nwoko queried.

On the alleged payments of 13% derivation to South-South States, Nwoko said Wike was trying falsely and maliciously to instigate the people against some governors.

“Wike postures deceptively in panic to cover his tracks on the well-known serious open secret of his involvement in national economic sabotage through oil bunkering.

“If the governor’s mischievous vituperations on the Paris Club refunds are off-key and unserious, his pedestrian shout on Ned Nwoko’s matrimony amounts to nothing. His false, childish tantrums that the man has imaginary ‘20 wives’ sounded like beer parlour gossip, unbelievable from the lips of a governor. How nauseating and condescending. But that is Wike, ever steered by gutter language and uncouth tempers.

“Let Wike delude himself in a bogus gubernatorial robe. By six months time, he would descend into a commoner, stripped of all immunity, bare from boastful manners and haughty airs. Prince Ned Nwoko, a civil fellow who has never been on the street with Wike would then compel him to answer questions about his litany of lies and corrupt misdeeds. He is poised, resolutely waiting to bring the Rivers State governor to justice very soon.

“Since Wike lost the PDP presidential ticket and failed nomination for Vice presidential slot because of his brash and unreliable temperament, he has been weeping, nagging on Television and every fora. Rather than lick his self-inflicted wounds remorsefully, he chose an inglorious path of blame game and transferred aggression. How pitiable for a fake emperor tumbling like the old nursery rhyme clown Humpty Dumpty.

“We hereby wish to emphasise for the avoidance of doubt that no external influence whether overtly or covertly moved Prince Ned Nwoko to challenge Wike’s excesses as the Star Prince of Anioma is a man of his own clout, unaffected and independent by nature.

“He is driven by the conviction as a pioneer and strong stakeholder in PDP, that an unhinged Wike, a latter day political noise maker and opportunist has become a power-drunk bull in a China shop who must be decisively handled, before he plots more divisive embarrassment.”

The Delta state born Politician then said that he can humble Wike.

2023 Elections: PDP pulls out of presidential town hall meeting

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State have pulled out of a town hall meeting organized for all contestants ahead of the 2023 presidential elections.

The Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) revealed this via a tweet on their verified Twitter page.

“Due to unavoidable conflicts, Alh. Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa of the People’s Democratic Party, will not be participating in The Candidates Presidential Town Hall Series,” the tweet read.

The presidential town hall series tagged ‘The Candidates,’ is organized by Daria Media in partnership with News Central, and the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), among others.

Recall that, Okowa had represented Atiku in one of the Presidential Town Hall meetings organized by Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) and chaired by Reuben Abati of Arise Television.

Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Rabiu Kwakwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) were in attendance.
