Pep Guardiola the Manchester City manager will leave Premier League champions next summer, according to reports from English Tabloid DailyMail.

It would be recalled that Guardiola arrived at the Etihad Stadium eight years ago and has 12 months left on his current contract.

It is understood City will give the Spaniard space to make a final decision on his future.

The management in City wants the coach to sign a new contract and extend his deal but he has refused to do so, hinting at his exit at the end of next season.

In his eight year period at the Etihad, Guardiola has so far won 15 major trophies, including their first Champions League.

But the club’s hierarchy fear that Guardiola’s ninth year will represent the end.

Multiple sources within the industry and City have openly discussed the prospect of the 52-year-old’s impending departure over recent months.

EPL: Guardiola speaks on current Arsenal player that helped Man City win title

Pep Guardiola,  the Manchester City manager,  has hailed Oleksandr Zinchenko for the role he played in ensuring that City won the 2021/2022 season Premier League title when it went down to the wire.

In 2021/2022 season Premier League Liverpool and Manchester City fought till the last day for the title.

Zinchenko, who has since moved to Arsenal last summer, and Raheem Sterling were introduced from the bench as City were losing 2-0 to Steven Gerrad’s coached Aston Villa on the last day.

Both substitutes played key roles as goals from Ilkay Gundogan (twice) and Rodri sealed a second consecutive title.

City now have the chance to win a fourth if they beat West Ham on Sunday.

Guardiola, speaking to reporters, said: “The chance to win four in a row? Any of us, in our lives, it’s not going to happen again. And they have to live it, enjoy it, think what you have have to do during 95, 96, 97 minutes.

“The game against Aston Villa – do you know who changed the game? (Oleksandr) Zinchenko.

“Alex changed that game. First-half was not good, half-time he arrived there, he changed the game.

“In the first goal, how he came, Raheem Sterling. The action for the first goal was from Raheem. Two players from the bench. So everybody is going to do his part.”

EPL: Guardiola reveals where Arsenal missed the Premier League title

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has revealed where Arsenal missed the Premier League title.

According to the Spaniard, Arsenal’s home defeat against Aston Villa has cost them the Premier League title.

Guardiola was speaking after their 4-0 win over Fulham on Saturday.

Josko Gvardiol scored twice, while Phil Foden and Julian Alvarez also got on the scoresheet at Craven Cottage.

City are now one point ahead of Arsenal, with both teams having two matches left.

Guardiola, speaking to BBC Match of the Day, said: “Our dream is as we said a few weeks ago when they [Arsenal] lost against Aston Villa was to arrive in the last games with it in our hands, to play West Ham at home with the destiny belonging to us.”

City are away to Arsenal’s fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday next.

EPL title chase: Guardiola reacts as Man City pile up pressure on Arsenal

Manchester City took another step in their bid to win a fourth consecutive Premier League title with a 2-0 victory over relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Josko Gvardiol and Erling Haaland were on target for the defending champions.

Pep Guardiola’s men kept the pressure on leaders Arsenal, pulling to within a point of the Gunners – who held on to win 3-2 at Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the day – in the table with a game in hand.

“I think the most important thing is to not think (about the title race), especially these moments, but take it day by day.

“Honestly if you overthink, you’re going to be crazy in your head, so relax now, enjoy, focus on the next one,” Haaland told reporters.

Forest had matched City in a nervous first half at the sun-drenched City Ground before Gvardiol got the holders on the scoreboard with his second career league goal.

This was when he headed in Kevin De Bruyne’s corner kick from the near post in the 32nd minute.

Forest had only 10 men on the pitch at the time following an injury to Neco Williams.

“I didn’t expect to score, but I found myself in a good position. We need to be focused on ourselves, and that’s what we’re doing. Four more finals until the end — let’s do it,” Gvardiol said.

Haaland made a quick impact when he entered the game as a substitute in his first action since missing two matches with a muscle injury.

The Norwegian took a pass from De Bruyne in the 71st minute, took three touches, then launched it into the far corner for a league-leading 21st goal of the season.

He had previously been level with Chelsea’s Cole Palmer.

“It was more than hard, such a difficult game but we knew that. The game we played in Brighton (a 4-0 win on Thursday) feels like a few hours ago so it is always difficult,” Guardiola said.

He said his side did not feel added pressure from kicking off after Arsenal’s win.

“The pressure is how you play. If you play good and control the game then people say you don’t feel the pressure, if you play bad people say you feel the pressure,” the Spaniard said.

Forest, who are a point above the drop zone in 17th, looked little like a team facing potential relegation and had travelling City fans – including musician Noel Gallagher – breathing sighs of relief several times.

The home side had 14 shots to City’s 11, including an absolute sitter that a wide open Chris Wood missed when he got his feet tangled up in front of the net.

Forest have won just two of their last 15 league games, going back to Dec. 30, a poor record that has been overshadowed by their troubles off the pitch.

They were docked four points last month for breaching the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules. They have appealed the decision.

They also hit out at refereeing standards in the Premier League in an angry statement posted on social media platform X following their loss to Everton last Sunday – which has led to the FA launching an investigation into the club.

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo, however, was pleased with the fight his squad showed.

“We played a good game, we were organised, compact, we had chances. We did a good job, regarding the opponent, how hard it is for them to play City.

“With the attitude, and the way we played, we’re going to achieve what we want (avoiding relegation), this is more important,” Santo said.

City’s Stefan Ortega replaced injured keeper Ederson at halftime, with the Brazilian leaving the stadium with his arm in a sling.

The visitors were also missing Phil Foden, who scored five goals in his previous two league appearances, to illness.

City’s final four games are against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.
