Why Peter Obi will not smell presidency in 2027 – VeryDarkMan

Social media activist, VeryDarkMan has made a claim against the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the 2023 election, Peter Obi.

He claimed that Obi will not clinch the presidential seat in 2027.

He also stated that the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, Atiku Abubakar and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, respectively, would also not “smell” the presidential seat.

According to him, the opposition supporters are underestimating the incumbent President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The self-styled activist stated this while reacting to reports that Obi’s recent visit to Atiku could be connected to a merger of the opposition parties.

VeryDarkMan maintained that even with a merger, it would be difficult for the opposition to unseat the incumbent president in 2027.

He said, “I’m sick of seeing the news of Peter Obi and Atiku planning a merger ahead of 2027 in bid to take over the presidency.

“But the truth is, Peter Obi, Atiku or Kwankwaso cannot smell the presidential seat in 2027.

“The problem with the opposition is that they underestimate the incumbent president, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“With time, you will realise that Tinubu is actually the greatest politician of all time. I hate to say it but it’s fact.

“The man is smart, intelligent and desperate. He knows how to get what he wants. Don’t joke with him. He will remain in office till 2032.

“The opposition should give up on the merger plans. Peter Obi 2027 is not possible.”

  • 2027: APC slams Atiku, Obi over rumoured alliance

2027: APC slams Atiku, Obi over rumoured alliance

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has lambasted the 2023  presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, respectively, over their rumored alliance ahead of the 2027 general elections.

There have been rumours of possible alliance between Atiku and Peter Obi

These speculations were fueled by a recent visit by the LP Presidential candidate, to his PDP counterpart, Atiku.

Reacting in a statement issued on Tuesday by the APC national publicity secretary, Felix Morka, the party described Atiku and Obi as “men united by their mutual desperation to be President of Nigeria and ignoble disdain for President Bola Tinubu’s focused and extraordinary commitment to the transformation of our nation.”

Morka also accused them of being political wanderers, adding that “their restless drift in search of convenient party platforms to execute their presidential run only belie the self-indulgent and opportunistic essence of their aspirations.”

He said, “What is unclear, however, is whether Obi would make a comeback to Atiku’s PDP or whether Atiku would dump his PDP and seek rehabilitation in Obi’s Labour Party or whether both men would abandon PDP and Labour, altogether, and sojourn into the political wilderness of Professor Pat Utomi’s mega party.

“News of Peter Obi’s return to the PDP would be hardly surprising. His reputation as a political wayfarer is only dwarfed by Atiku’s track record as a veteran political wanderer.

“ News of Atiku joining the Labour party will shock no one as he will be living up to his well established reputation as the country’s most itinerant politician. For now, Utomi’s mega party remains a figment with no offering of tangible accommodation for both men.

“Atiku and Obi are united by their mutual desperation to be President of Nigeria and ignoble disdain for President Bola Tinubu’s focused and extraordinary commitment to the transformation of our nation.

“Men without the staying power to build or fix their own parties, who flee at the slightest flicker of internal crisis cannot possibly be trusted by Nigerians to tackle serious and complex national political and economic challenges that confront our nation.”

Speaking further, the APC Spokesperson, lauded Tinubu’s commitment towards the economic development of Nigeria and urged citizens to stand with him.

“President Bola Tinubu embodies character, vision, tenacity and doggedness required to deliver a resurgent Nigeria of stable growth and development. The administration’s bold economic policy reforms and massive infrastructural uptake have already shattered historic barriers to growth, and paved the way for steady progress and development.

“We urge Nigerians to stand fast in their invaluable support of our great Party and President Bola Tinubu’s determined commitment to deliver a stronger, secure and more prosperous country for us all.” He said.

Peter Obi endorses Labour Party’s new NWC

Mr Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general election, has endorsed the newly elected National Working Committee (NWC) of the Party.

Obi gave the endorsement on Tuesday when he paid a solidarity visit to the party leadership at the National Headquarters in Abuja, stressing that the survival of the party was paramount.

The LP flag bearer, while endorsing the NWC led by Julius Abure, urged aggrieved party members to put the survival of Nigerians and Nigeria first above all other interests.

Obi said he was at the national secretariat to visit the chairman and would continue to strive to bring all warring parties together, urging them to be united for the success of the party.

He stated that the challenges facing Nigeria were on human capital development bordering on food, security, education, health and water.

“For now, let us talk about how we are going to survive because we politician always focus on the next election and not about human beings.

“Let us focus on Nigeria, and see that Nigeria works, if Nigeria is working, Labour party will work. If Nigeria fails, Labour Party will fail,” Obi said.

Responding, the national chairman of the party, Julius Abure, said the national working committee was appreciative of the visit of the party members and the presidential candidate.

Abure said it was high time the varying groups of dissent voices over the Nnewi convention came together and set all their personal interest aside and work for the party to make a good show in the next election season.

“I want to say this very clear, the convention has come and gone, all those who are still angry with us over the Nnewi convention, we want to appeal to them to come together to work with us to build the party for a new Nigeria that has a vision.

“I believe very strongly that personal interest should be put aside and pursue a new Nigeria that will work for all,” Abure stated.

Speaking, the Chairman of the Party, Federal Capital Territory Chapter, Mr Peter Dugwu, said the chapter would work with the NWC and promised a successful working at the area councils’ elections.

Kano Mosque explosion: Peter Obi visits victims

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, paid a visit to victims of the bomb attack at a mosque in Gadan village, Gezawa Local Government area of Kano State.

Obi, who visited the victims on their hospital bed at the Murtala Specialist Hospital in Kano on Sunday, condemned the attack and described it as a senseless act.

Speaking with reporters, Obi said it is really sad that such an attack can happen in the nation, adding that it was horrific seeing the victims.

According to him, he visited the victims to show solidarity and support in their care in one way or the other and to also commend the hospital management.

“This is very horrific and remains very condemnable. It’s sad this can happen in our nation today. Nobody can say why this young boy can do a thing like this to his own family members and the society.

“We remain in solidarity condemning such act at the people. My reason for coming here is to show that solidarity and support in their care in one way or the other and the hospital management in what they are doing and again condemn this senseless act of violent killing.

“We therefore condoled with the government and the good people of Kano as well urged all as a country to stand together in fighting such a senseless act.”

  • INEC not Nigeria’s problem, but judiciary – Peter Obi

INEC not Nigeria’s problem, but judiciary – Peter Obi

Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 General Election, Mr Peter Obi has said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was not the problem of Nigeria but judiciary.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Obi stated this at the Justice Anthony Aniagolu’s Memorial Lecture organised by the family and hosted by the Godfrey Okoye University (GOUNI), Enugu on Tuesday.

Speaking at the event, Peter Obi disclosed he was the highest beneficiary of Judiciary in the country when there were incorruptible judges.

Delivering a lecture on the topic “The Judiciary And The Future of Nigeria”, Obi said he won election in Anambra State and another candidate was declared winner and he approached the court for justice.

“I spent three years in court and it was given to me and after few months I was impeached but judiciary restored me to power. After one year in office, they conducted another election and elected another person.

“But I went to Supreme Court where judges with respect for rule of law reinstated me to complete my tenure.

“All these things happened because there were incorruptible and independent judges,” he said.

The former Anambra Governor, who noted that such jurists were hard to find in the present day Nigeria said, “Our judiciary are weak and compromised by the executive and highest bidder.”

According to him, the future of our society is compromised because independent of the judiciary has been destroyed.

“We need strong judiciary to fight criminality. Rule of law is the foundation in which any society survive and develop and the only thing that makes it sacrosanct is the independent of the judiciary.

“And it is a strong judiciary that makes businesses, investments and democracy to thrive,” Obi said.

He pointed out that Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was not the problem of Nigeria but judiciary, whom those denied their rights approached but ended up being disappointed.

Obi explained that institutions were weak because there was no strong judiciary where litigants could report wrongdoings and got desired justice.

Proffering solutions, Obi advocated for independence of judiciary and non interference by the executive, saying “as a governor, I never appointed any judge but left the power to the Chief Judge.

“I bought cars for them but never appointed any judge throughout my tenure”.

Obi, however, extolled Aniagolu for his exemplary life, stressing that he served his country and practiced his law in an exemplary manner.

In a remark, Gov Peter Mbah of Enugu State represented by the state’s Commissioner for Health, Prof Emmanuel Obi, described the lecture as “apt”.

Mbah said that the state had made several laws saying that the government used the instrument of law to create enabling environment for business to thrive.

Earlier in a welcome address, the Vice Chancellor of GOUNI, Prof. Christian Anieke, described Aniagolu as an “erudite jurist and incorruptible judge” who laid foundation for the establishment of GOUNI.

He commended the family for their support and resolve to immortalize him, saying “God will continue to bless you”.

He equally thanked Obi for accepting to deliver the 5th Memorial Lecture on Aniagolu, saying “our choice of you is based on our understanding of the spirited ability you have with Aniagolu.

“You cherished the late Aniagolu’s sacrifices on the alter of legal technicalities.

“You share with him that integrity and legacy one can bequeath to younger generation as well as your understanding in Nigeria democracy,” Anieke said.

The son of the late jurist, Prof Chukwuemeka Aniagolu, described his father as an icon who contributed immensely to the growth of the judiciary in Nigeria.

He thanked Mr Peter Obi for, the university and guests for honour given to the family.

  • Why INEC server failed to work on election day – Peter Obi

Why INEC server failed to work on election day – Peter Obi

Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, (LP) Mr Peter Obi has said that the ‘establishment of criminality’ caused the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, servers not work during the last presidential election.

Obi noted that the people must one day make it to work, explaining that Amazon testified there were no glitches recorded globally on the day of the presidential election.

The former Anambra State governor made the statement on Friday in Canada while addressing the issues about the last general election, including IREV servers.

It was observed that the LP presidential candidate was in Canada for a “thank you” tour to appreciate Nigerians living in the country for their support offered him during the 2023 campaign/ general elections.

He said: “Where did we go wrong in the last election? We didn’t go wrong anywhere. We did the right things. But as I can always tell people: when you bring a change, you fight all those who live off the old order. They don’t go away; they gang up. And don’t think it’s a straight race to remove an establishment. It’s a long-distance journey anywhere in the world. Go and check anywhere, whether you are looking at what happened in India, with Mandela in South Africa, or America. No change has happened overnight, it takes time. I urge all of you, if you really want change, we have just begun. We just have to continue from where we are.

“Yes, there might be one or two things we will correct, those things we will correct. I assure you we are correcting them without naming them.

It’s not going to be easy.

“The INEC server was the same as the establishment. The server would not work because it was the establishment that made it so it wouldn’t work. It’s ours to continue to say that it would work. But there was no glitch. Amazon came and said there was no glitch. Amazon glitch is noticed globally – it’s recorded globally. And at that period, we brought down an Amazon person who said this is the number of glitches we have had since inception. And there was none that it reported that day. We know it didn’t occur. It was the glitch of the establishment criminality that was in the system. And we must one day make it work.”

  • Coastal Highway: Obi raises alarm again, says amid hunger, FG adamant on misplaced priority

Coastal Highway: Obi raises alarm again, says amid hunger, FG adamant on misplaced priority

The Labour Party Presidential Candidate in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi has again cried out loud that the Federal Government is going ahead with the inessential projects amid the spread of poverty and hunger in the land.

TheNewsGuru.com, TNG recalls Obi had earlier condemned the start of trillions of naira Coastal Highway Project when the internal roads were impassable.

Writing on his X handle on Tuesday, the LP standards bearer said “Contrary to the dictates of reason and the necessity for compassion in the pursuit of public policy, the federal government has kicked off the controversial Lagos-Calabar Coastal highway.

‘The outcry against this project has been overwhelming because it contrasts with the prevailing situation in the country at this time.

“However, reports as of yesterday indicate that demolition of businesses and residences in the designated right of way for the project has commenced from the Lagos end.

“The sight of this insensitive demolition is, for me, heart-wrenching. As we watch this tragic theatre, livelihoods are being wiped away. Lifetime investments are being laid to waste while jobs are evaporating as the bulldozers roar. Habitations of the aged are being overturned by bulldozers of power.

“This hasty flag-off is in utter defiance of widespread outcry by the public especially business and property owners whose investments are directly affected by this project. No one knows the outcry that I’ll herald this project as it progresses towards poor rural landscapes.

‘Thousands of jobs are about to be wiped out while in one case investments above $200 million are about to be lost. Over 100,000 jobs in the leisure and hospitality sector face clear and instant extinction. Over 80 small businesses are threatened with 4000 mostly youth employees imminently out of jobs. At a time when unemployment is ravaging the country, the government is embarking on a job-losing project.

‘The economic losses in view only have to do with the first few kilometers in the Lagos end. But the 700 km of this road will traverse rural areas where those to be affected have neither voice, power, or influence to press their rights.

“Significant sections of the public have questioned the process that preceded the approval of this project. The government has turned deaf ears to voices of reason and caution.

“More importantly, the time has come to interrogate the rationale and timing of this and similar projects being contemplated by this government.

“The nation is today in the worst economic state in national history. Poverty is spreading by the day. Hunger has recently come center stage among the things that trouble the majority of Nigerians. The basic necessities of life are now beyond the reach of most Nigerians.

“This is one moment in national life when any responsible government cannot embark on fancy inessential projects.

“Therefore, We need to question the sense of priority of a government that is in a haste to embark on a mega white elephant project at a time of so many urgent and pressing national needs.

‘Most of the existing highways are in desperate need of maintenance. Even the ones that are passable remain unsafe because of the scourge of insecurity. Travelers on our existing highways are frequently kidnapped and abducted by killer gangs and bandits. Many travelers on our highways are uncertain that they will reach their destinations alive, in safety, or in freedom.

‘Our economy remains comatose as the exchange rate goes yo-yo by the day and our national debt balloons out of imagination.

“Our health institutions are ill-equipped and often unmanned.

“Worse still, why are we embarking on an expensive fancy new highway project when there are close to 50 abandoned and uncompleted federal highway projects all over the country?

‘For the avoidance of doubt, the clear and urgent necessities of the nation today are urgent nationwide security of life and property, poverty eradication, sustainable and affordable healthcare for all, and affordable and functional education for the majority especially the poor and underprivileged.

‘I would like to be placed on record as one citizen who raised his voice to coopposesand vehemently oppose this government’s penchant to misplace our national priorities at a moment of national emergency of an existential nature.

‘It is not too late to discontinue the Lagos-Calabar highway project. We can ill afford yet another expensive abandoned project. Above all, Nigeria’s urgent development needs are more real in areas that touch the lives of our citizens. We do not need escapades of landscape decoration.
