Peter Obi is not a saint, he’s corrupt as others – Deji Adeyanju

Socio-Political activist, Deji Adeyanju has said that the Presidential candidate of Labour Party. Peter Obi is also a corrupt politician and he’s not a saint.

In a series of tweets on Monday, Adeyanju claimed that Obi told him that he invested billions of Anambra State money into his family business and was still trying to justify it.

According to him, Peter Obi is, however, the best candidate among those who have declared, especially with his cutting of cost theory but was not a saint.

Adeyanju tweeted, “The real reason I stopped supporting Peter Obi was after I met him for a 3hrs meeting at his instance of course & he told to me he invested billions of Anambra State funds into his family business. And the man was even trying to justify it. So many other things he said. SMH!”

“I agree that Peter Obi is the best candidate among those who have declared, especially with his cutting of cost theory, but he’s no saint. He’s as corrupt as the others. Investing Anambra money into his family business is the height of corruption and abuse of office,” Adeyanju said.

…says my security plan will be immediate and decisive

…I deliberately refused to tell Atiku I was leaving PDP

The Presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi has said his political journey so far in Nigeria’s political landscape has a touch of miracles.

TheNewsGuru.com, (TNG) reports Obi made this disclosure in an interview with a national television program on Monday.

Obi who went memory lane saying despite the many land mines planted on his political sojourn one way or the other he had managed to survive miraculously.

When he was asked to react to so many things said about him by a fellow Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, Obi said”well, my political journey has been a miracle.

“So many things has happened in my life that people never thought would be possible. In 2003, I contested for the Anambra Governorship election under a party that was just one year old, people said it will take a miracle for me to win the election that year, I won.

“Six months later, I was impeached. I challenged the impeachment in court, people said it will be impossible for me to come back to office, that no governor has ever come back to office after impeachment, they said it will take a miracle for me to win the case in court, I won the case.

“I came back to office and in 2007, an election was conducted and Andy Uba declared the winner. I went to court again to seek for the interpretation of our laws, I told the court that the tenure of a Governor is Four years and I should be allowed to finish my tenure, people said it will take miracle for me to win that case, I won.

“So my Political journey has been like a miracle and I’m waiting for the bigger miracle to happen in 2023. That’s my response to Atiku’s statement.

On the claim by Atiku that 90% of Northerners are not internet compliant, again, Obi said” Well, that’s the problem I’m coming to solve as the Nigerian President. I have said it before that the north will be our new oil, I will convert that population to wealth through Production.

“I will invest in education so that those who don’t know how to operate the internet in the north, will learn how it is done. The north is our new oil.

On why he refused to inform Atiku of his defection from PDP, he responded saying: ” A time will come in a man’s life, where he will decide to take a very strong decision about his life and his people, without informing those who are likely to tell him not to take such decision. I have so many important people in my life that I didn’t tell that i was going to leave PDP, I didn’t even tell my family at that time. I took that decision because it is the best thing to do and I didn’t want anybody to distract me.

“Remember when I left, I told Nigerians that I will rather lose doing the right thing, than win doing the wrong thing.

On security, he said “it will be immediate and decisive, I will pull people out of poverty, it has been proven that the more you pull people out of poverty, the more you reduce crime. I will invest in education and military manpower. All options will be on the table.

2023: Why I refused to inform Atiku before leaving PDP – Peter Obi

Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi has said he refused to inform Atiku Abubakar that he was going to leave the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) because it was likely the former Vice President would have prevailed on him not to take such decision.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Peter Obi as saying he has so many important people in his life, including his family members, who he did not inform before leaving the PDP, adding that he took the decision because it was the best thing to do.

“You see Seun, a time will come in a man’s life, where he will decide to take a very strong decision about his life and his people, without informing those who are likely to tell him not to take such decision.

“I have so many important people in my life that I didn’t tell that I was going to leave PDP. I didn’t even tell my family at that time. I took that decision because it is the best thing to do and I didn’t want anybody to distract me.

“Remember when I left, I told Nigerians that I rather lose doing the right thing, than win doing the wrong thing,” Peter Obi said in the popular Channels TV Politics Today programme on Monday.

Responding to Atiku’s comment that it will take a miracle for him to win the 2023 presidential election, the Labour Party presidential candidate said: “Well, my political journey has been a miracle. So many things have happened in my life that people never thought would be possible.

“In 2003, I contested for the Anambra Governorship election under a party that was just one year old. People said it will take a miracle for me to win the election that year, but I won.

“So my political journey has been like a miracle and I’m waiting for the bigger miracle to happen in 2023. That’s my response to Atiku’s statement”.

Peter Obi also addressed issues Atiku raised on 90% of Northerners being on social media.

He said: “Well, that’s the problem I’m coming to solve as the Nigerian President. I have said it before that the North will be our new oil. I will convert that population to wealth through production. I will invest in education so that those who don’t know how to operate the internet in the North, will learn how it is done. On security, Peter Obi said: “It will be immediate and decisive. I will pull people out of poverty. It has been proven that the more you pull people out of poverty, the more you reduce crime. I will invest in education and military manpower. All options will be on the table”.

    2023: Peter Obi cautions supporters

Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has cautioned his supporters and supporters of the party to allow him to personally respond to any candidate who speaks about him.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Peter Obi sounded the note of warning in a tweet on Monday while also asking his supporters to concentrate on promoting their vision of making Nigeria a better country.

“I most sincerely appreciate all my supporters and those of LP. I love you all. I wish to appeal to you to allow me to personally respond to any CANDIDATE that makes comments about me, while you concentrate on issues to promote our cause of moving our dear Nigeria from consumption to production, create jobs, and generally evolve a better Nigeria,” Peter Obi tweeted.

Similarly, running mate to Peter Obi, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed had earlier advised his followers not to be distracted, following the launch of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) season 7.

Reacting moments after the show went live on Saturday, Baba-Ahmed called for focus ahead of next year’s general elections, while describing the 2023 presidential election as a ‘battle’.

“Dear #Obidients please don’t be distracted with the new season of the Tv show #BBNaija we have a battle ahead of us,” Baba-Ahmed tweeted.

Obi: May ‘ObIdients’ not dim his ambition – By Ehichioya Ezomon

From the look of it, the poster wasn’t embossed, but the mere pasting of the campaign item of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, on Muslims’ prayer mats was enough to set off a firestorm.

The mats, whose pictorial was splashed on various social media outlets and platforms, were reportedly donated by promoters of “Obi for President” in the 2023 elections.

Reactions were quick from adherents of the Islamic and Christian faiths, majorly in criticism of the insensitivity by the donors of the mats to Muslims for prayers.

The obviously uninformed donors meant no mischief, but to advance Obi’s candidacy that’s shaken the political arena of 2023 with his message of a “New Nigeria.”

The negative reactions are indicative of a bitterly-divided country on religious lines, such that “small matters” are interpreted as impugning on religious beliefs.

This division is the handiwork of politicians, to gain power and influence, and control over their followers who, sadly, copycat them in the misuse of religion during elections.

By all standards, Obi is a gentleman, who hasn’t overtly pandered to religion in his presidential attempts: as running mate to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the 2019 polls under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and in 2023 flying the flag of the Labour Party.

But this can’t be said of his supporters, who’ve literally hijacked his campaign into a “movement” primed for a revolutionary change of the status quo in the opposition PDP and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The movement is peopled mainly by the youths that propelled the famous 2020 #EndSARS protests that took Nigeria by storm, and those in power by surprise.

Described in hyperboles, and parading as a “tsunami” that will sweep away the old order, and the rot in the system, the movement may be Obi’s Achilles’ heel in 2023.

In its frenzy to enhance his chances, the disparately agglomerated group has exhibited sectional and religious biases antithetical to Obi’s positioning and posturing.

The movement dares every segment and section of the polity into a political dwell, and doubles down on negative responses to comments querying Obi’s poll prospects.

Prompting Obi to tweet to his supporters on July 3, to be “tolerant of other people’s views, dissent, divergent opinions and possibly learn from them.”

“While the frustration and anger in the country is understandable, we must strive to channel that energy positively in ways that will earn the support and collaboration of others,” Obi said.

There’s no harm in challenging the orthodoxy that serves the interests of the powerful few, and emasculates the majority. That’s the thrust of Obi’s campaign ab initio.

But members of the movement leave nothing to chance, not even the sensitive and “forbidden” areas that touch the raw nerves of the society, like the Muslims’ prayer mats.

The Obi campaign poster on the mats, according to a tweep (someone who uses Twitter) on June 1, “is just a poster and not a paint on the mat; the receiver can easily remove it if they want to use it for prayers.”

But critics thought it’s a ploy to malign the Muslim faithful, who, a rejoinder says, “don’t even wear dresses with human image, talk less on the mats, when praying.”

The vexed prayer mats left Obi fending off a collateral damage via a disclaimer on July 1, iterating his respect for various religions catering to millions of Nigerians.

Obi’s tweet: “The inclusion of my picture on the praying mat by a support group was misguided, even with the best of intentions. It didn’t emanate from my campaign team.

“I have deep respect for the Muslim faith and indeed, for every other religion. We will never mock any faith, ethnicity, or gender. We are one Nigeria.”

Did Obi react likewise to the portrayal of his rivals in the 2023 contest – Atiku and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu – when his supporters compared them to the Biblical thieves nailed, and flanked Jesus Christ on the cross?

That picture of Obi, flanked by Atiku and Tinubu, literally compared Obi to Christ, a blasphemy that could generate untold reactions were alleged Christian “thieves” photoshopped to flank the Holy Prophet Muhammad.

The image trended for weeks on social media, with the Obi support groups defending its retweets and repostings as being deployed to de-market his political rivals.

In this era of fake news that parades little or no evidenced allegations of criminal nature, Obi’s supporters can damage his brand if rivals start to throw dirts at him.

Make no mistake about it: Obi isn’t a saint, not if he’s a politician, and was in power to the level of governing Anambra State in Nigeria’s corruption-infested system.

He’s managed to escape searing searchlights because, since leaving political office in 2014, he’s mastered the art of controlling his messaging, which his other two main rivals – Atiku and Tinubu – haven’t been able to learn.

Yet, how many fires – and how quickly – can Obi quench, as the movement that evolves from his ambition takes on a life of its own, and hardly reverts, if at all, to the campaign that’s the clearing house for his messaging?

Consider how the “ObIdients” – with fuel from the rhetorics of mouthpieces of the Nigerian Christendom on the 2023 polls – saturate the social media with negativities in regard to the APC/Tinubu Muslim-Muslim ticket!

Obi distancing his campaign from misrepresentations is a first step to taming the monster of unsolicited messaging that can blunt his vision and mission for the presidency.

His campaign should wield the big stick, by divorcing any identified group(s) out of sync with Obi’s messaging, all in the guise of canvassing for memberships or votes for him.

Besides calling his supporters to order, and issuing to them a code of conduct that conforms with his stellar behaviour in the political arena; it’s time to rein in the seemingly derring-do, non-conformists in their midst.

The general election is riding on the back of a traumatised citizenry in all fronts of human existence, and Obi has thrown himself up as capable of reversing the locust years, and ushering in a new paradigm for Nigeria.

This self-imposed assignment that’s gathered a novel momentum, and following shouldn’t be slowed down or derailed by the actions of overzealous supporters.

Too many hands shouldn’t spoil the aromatic broth Obi has promised, and looks set to prepare and serve the millions of hungry and starving Nigerians. He should take heed while it’s still daytime in the journey to 2023!

[VIDEO] Why Peter Obi should be in jail – Asari Dokubo

A former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo, has stated the reason why the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, should be in jail.

He criticized the former Anambra State governor, alleging he invested the state funds in a family business.

Asari Dokubo raised the allegations in his latest video.

“In a normal country, Peter Obi is supposed to be in jail for investing state money in a family business and failed” Asari Dokubo.

Recall that Dokubo recently described the Labour Party’s presidential candidate as a glorified “Yahoo Yahoo boy.”

He urged Nigerians not to vote for the former Anambra State governor during the 2023 presidential election.

Dokubo had stressed that the Labour Party’s presidential candidate was not fit for the highest political office in the country.

If Peter Obi wins 2023 election, looters will run to Dubai – Amaechi

First Republic Aviation Minister, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi has said if the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi wins the 2023 election criminals and looters will leave the country and run to Dubai.

While declaring his support for Obi and his running mate, Datti Baba Ahmed, the 93-year-old stated this at his country home.

He said, “I don’t think it was just an accident that Peter Obi emerged. I think it was God’s way. If anything happens to him, it would worsen the situation in Nigeria and the situation may degenerate to something non-describable.

“If they’re afraid of Obi who is just a beginner, why should they not be eternally afraid? Peter Obi is the only governor who left office and nobody asked him any questions.

“He didn’t know the office of EFCC, ICPC or DSS because of his clean records. The man who succeeded him wanted to leave the country two hours he handed over, meaning he wanted to sneak away.

“Many other governors who left office have been arrested and charged to court but they ran into Senate or APC as a party and today their cases are closed. That’s the kind of rotten country you have. Yet people are suffering, and may continue to suffer.

“I don’t think God created us to continue to suffer. The 2023 election is an opportunity he’s provided for us to right the wrongs. You will see how the whole world will embrace Nigeria if Peter Obi wins the election and all the criminals and looters will melt away to Dubai.”

National grid collapse catalyst for leadership change – Peter Obi

Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi has described reports of the national power grid has collapsed for the 6th time in 7 months as alarming.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Obi as saying such negative parameters are not only benchmarks for governance failure but a compelling catalyst for a leadership change.

“Reports that the national power grid has collapsed for the 6th time in 7 months is alarming. Once again, many Nigerians have been left grope around in darkness without electricity.

“Such negative parameters are not only benchmarks for governance failure but a compelling catalyst for leadership change.

“Moreover, in a nation where many go the bed hungry, and national bakers going on strike is indicative of the high-stress level in both the productive realm of our economy and quality of life.

“Also, for bread, one of the basic and affordable daily sustenance of the average Nigerian to become unavailable translates to a national crisis.

“Government must live up to its statutory responsibilities to avert socio-economic incidents that induce extreme shock and stress on the national population,” the Labour Party presidential hopeful said.

Restoration of national grid after collapse almost ready – TCN

Meanwhile, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on Thursday said restoration of the national grid was almost completed following its collapse on Wednesday.

Mrs Ndidi Mbah, TCN General Manager, Public Affairs, said this in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja.

Mbah said that the national grid experienced system disturbance at about 11:27 a.m. on Wednesday, but that its restoration was almost completed as at 11:00 p.m.

”The incident was a result of sudden drop in system frequency from 49.94  Hertz (HZ) to 47.36Hz, which created system instability,” she said.

Hertz is a unit of frequency which replaces the earlier term of one cycle per second (cps).

Mbah said that reports from the National Control Centre (NCC), revealed that the collapse was precipitated by the tripping of a unit with a load of 106 Megawatts (MW) in one of the generating stations due to “Exhaust over Temperature”

She said the tripping pulled out other grid-connected units in the plant, which resulted in aggregated generation loss of 457MW.

“A train of events ensued, culminating in the collapse of the national grid.

“As obtainable in all systems, when a component of the electric power system is defective, the entire configuration is vitiated,” she said

Mbah said investigation was going on to establish the cause of the failure.

She said the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) appreciated the understanding of the government and consumers of electricity within and outside the country.

Mbah said that NESI was committed to leveraging on interventions instituted thus far to enhance power supply reliability.
