  • Why drug abuse is on the increase in Nigeria – Peter Obi

Why drug abuse is on the increase in Nigeria – Peter Obi

Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi has hinted at why drug abuse is on the rise in Nigeria.

Obi, who is a former Governor of Anambra State identified bad governance, Nigeria’s economic woes, frustration and hopelessness as some of the factors fuelling drug abuse among the youths in the country.

He made this known n a message to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

The presidential candidate lamented that many Nigerian youths were taking to drugs as escape route from the harsh economic and political realities in the nation.

“Nigeria today has the highest drug abuse prevalence in the world. While the global average is 5.5%, Nigeria battles with 14.4% drug abuse prevalence.

“In 2021, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) found out that 40 percent of our youths, aged between 18 and 35, were deeply involved in drug abuse. What is more painful is that substance abuse is higher among youths in their productive age.

“Accumulated leadership failure over the years in the country has continued to rob our youths of their bright future, thus deepening their addiction to substance abuse,” Obi said.

While commending NDLEA for the good work they have been doing, Obi called on other relevant agencies to intensify their efforts against the ugly menace, and to continue with a widespread awareness on the dangers of drug abuse.

He argued that the knowledge of the adverse effects of substance abuse will drastically reduce the scourge in the country.

Obi also encouraged the youths to avoid all forms of substance abuse and focus on being productive and helping the country to grow, which, he added, could guarantee them a good livelihood and better future.

The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is celebrated on June 26 every year.

  • How Bianca broke late Chief Odumegwu Ojukwu’s heart- Kemi Olunloyo reveals

The feud between Kemi Olunloyo, daughter of a former governor of Oyo State, Victor Omololu Olunloyo, and former Nigerian Ambassador to Spain, Bianca Ojukwu, has taken another dimension as the former revealed how the latter broke the heart of her late husband, Chief Odumegwu Ojukwu.

Kemi accused Bianca of sleeping with Governor Peter Obi’s commissioner while her husband Ojukwu was very sick and still alive.

Kemi, in a chat on Frankly Speaking with Jola Sotubo, said “I need to set the record straight. I am not a fugitive in a country that gave me residency as an award from President Bill Clinton, I’m not insane and only one thing.

“I’m a lover of the truth. Bianca Ojukwu should stop hiding behind her paid hands and speak herself. She is not only a coward but also a promiscuous woman who was stripped of her beauty queen crown for sleeping around with big and older men.

“She later married one of them, Chief Odumegwu Ojukwu, yet she betrayed that man from the beginning by lying to him that she was a virgin and then sleeping with other men. She broke his heart by all this even in his old age and she was not worthy of a great husband like that.

“All she wanted was his name and money. Bianca should tell Nigerians why Patience Jonathan got her kicked out of the Aso Rock Villa after she was caught several times flirting and throwing herself on our former president, Goodluck Jonathan who appointed her as some Special Aide/Assistant at one time.

According to Kemi, Bianca dated the former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, FFK, when they were younger and was impregnated twice, which ended in abortion.

    Kemi

In her words: “Fani-Kayode was dating Bianca, Fani-Kayode was in Cambridge, I’ve seen Bianca in Fani-Kayode’s room many times, loved up and everything. They dated.

“So when this thing happened, Femi called me when he needed someone to defend him. Everybody didn’t want to get involved, but I stood up for Femi. It’s true, they went out, and she got pregnant twice.

“The first pregnancy was a miscarriage; they were supposed to get married, they were engaged already, but Bianca didn’t want to go out with Fani-Kayode anymore so she had an abortion. I’m saying it on camera now, she had an abortion.”

But reacting to the claim, Bianca, in a statement issued by her media aide, Uchendu Onuoha, last week had lambasted Kemi, stressing that she was mentally challenged and needed urgent and crucial psychiatric help.

The statement reads thus: “The attention of Her Excellency has been drawn to an interview granted by a media character Ms Kemi Olunloyo, a deportee from Canada, and a fugitive from justice in the United States of America, whose sole existence centres around online character assassination.

However, as the dispute lingers, the social media personality has again reacted to Bianca’s statement that she (Kemi) is a fugitive.

Kemi, in a statement, said she needed to set the record straight.

    Kemi
    Kemi Olunloyo

She said Bianca was a coward who hid behind the truth.

According to Kemi, “Mrs. Jonathan allegedly wanted her far away from the villa and that’s why she settled her lonely self in Spain as our Ambassador.

“Bianca told my friends in London when we were teens that she was aborting her second pregnancy for Femi Fani Kayode because she no longer wanted a relationship with him.

“The first pregnancy she lost in a miscarriage, but in the truth, it was FFK that dumped her, left the UK and went back to Law School in 1985.

“She has not told us about the money in US dollars GEJ sent her husband for medical bills which he was entitled to and how it disappeared from the house.

“Bianca finally gave Ojukwu that heart attack that killed him when the money went missing and Ojukwu learned about the commissioner lover.

“None of Ikemba Ojukwus children relate to her and are all fighting her for their father’s assets.

“Calling me a fugitive and mental patient is an act of desperation. At least I know who the father of my children is unlike her.

“I will open a can of worms about Bianca’s past which shall continue to trail her. There is more at a later time. I only tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help me GOD,” Kemi stated.

  • Aisha Yesufu attacks Obi over Ekweremadu’s UK travails

Sociopolitical activist Aisha Yesufu has frowned at  the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, (LP) for ‘standing with’ the Ike Ekweremadu and his family following their arrest in London over allegations of organ harvesting.

Aisha said Obi is reacting like president Buhari over the matter

Recall that the former Deputy Senate President, Dr. Ike Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu were arrested in the UK for allegedly facilitating the travel of another person with a view to exploit them and harvest their organs.

They were arraigned before a magistrate in a UK court and subsequently denied bail after pleading not guilty.

And in reaction to the news of the Ekweremmadu’s arrest, Obi in a tweet expressed his sympathies and prayed for their daughter’s healing while calling for justice to take its course.

Obi’s  tweet reads, “My family and I are with the Ekweremadu’s over their travail. We join all men of goodwill in praying for the healing of their daughter and commit them into God’s hand for justice to be done.”

However, Aisha Yesufu feels Obi’s reaction wasn’t well explained and sounded like one of Buhari’s statements, which she found difficult to interpret for the last seven years.

She wondered why Obi never mentioned the 15-year-old boy involved in the story.

Aisha tweeted, “This is not good! I have spent 7 years getting an explanation from others of what Buhari actually means to say and for others to start doing it again with Obi is absolute BS!

You can stand with the Ekweremadus and also stand with the boy. You can ask for justice for both

“You can feel empathy and sympathy for the girl that is sick and also feel concern for the boy.”

  • Rabiu Kwankwaso, Peter Obi joint ticket: Committee submits report

The joint panel set up by the Labour Party and the New Nigeria People’s Party to work out an alliance between Rabiu  Musa Kwankwaso and Mr Peter Obi has submitted its report for consideration.

Kwankwaso, a former Kano State governor and presidential candidate of the NNPP, is said to have strong followership in the North with his Kwankwasiyya movement, while Obi, a former Anambra State governor and LP presidential candidate, is having an increasing support base among youths in the southern part of the country, Middlebelt and Abuja; and in the social media.

While it is no longer possible for political parties to merge, in line with Section 81 (2) of the Electoral Act, both presidential candidates are working on a joint ticket with the hope of defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party and others in the February 25, 2023 presidential election.

The Section 81 (2) reads, “Political parties intending to merge shall each give to the commission nine months’ notice of their intention to do so before a general election.” Already, the 2023 general elections will commence on February 25, which is less than nine months away.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) recalls that Kwankwaso, in an interview about a week ago, confirmed that a committee was set up to work on the alliance and that conversation was ongoing. He said, “We are in talks with Peter Obi and a committee is working to look into how to form a merger between us.

“The merger is important because as you can see, both the ruling All Progressives Congress and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party did not pick their running mates from the South-East.”

As the deadline for the substitution of candidates and running mates for the presidential and National Assembly candidates draws near, there is mounting anxiety among the supporters of the two candidates over the progress made in the alliance talks.

The running mate to Obi and director-general of his campaign organisation, Dr Doyin Okupe, confirmed that the panel had concluded its sitting and ongoing talks on the way forward.

Okupe said, “A committee was set up before now and the committee has completed its work. There have been informal meetings and third-party stakeholders interventions and we have had structured official meetings too.

“In all, we came to two agreements; one is that we are going to work together as political parties in order to achieve this change that we all desire. What we did not agree upon is who would be the president and who would be the vice-president. We didn’t agree on that. But we left it open.”

Asked if the parties would agree on the issue before the deadline for political parties to submit the names of their final running mates, Okupe said, “We are aware of the deadline, and we are working on it. When we adjourned our last meeting, we adjourned sine die.

:So, if there is a change, we will reconvene. But we are moving on. There is no problem. We have agreed to work together to create a platform for a national coalition, so that objective is still in place.”

Also, the National Chairman, NNPP, Prof Rufai Alkali, hinted that the party was engaging with the people and getting support and solidarity from many places.

When asked who would become the candidate and running mate between Kwankwaso and Obi, Alkali said, “Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso is a seasoned politician and he knows the country very well. Certain decisions have to be taken at the appropriate time in a way and manner that would bring more strength and credibility to this journey.”

Asked if a decision had been reached on it, he said, “When we do, you will be among the first to know. No decision yet.”

  • CVR: Why we can’t extend June 30 deadline – INEC

Amid the growing public clamour for the June 30 deadline for the Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, to be extended, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said it is unable to extend the exercise following a suit filed by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, and 185 concerned Nigerians.

In the suit filed at the Federal High Court in Lagos, the plaintiffs are asking the court for, among other things, an order of mandamus to direct and compel INEC to extend voter registration by a minimum of three months and take effective measures to ensure that eligible Nigerians are able to register to exercise their right to vote in the 2023 general elections.

Speaking on rumours that the commission had agreed to extend the exercise for 60 days in line with the request of the House of Representatives, Mr Rotimi Oyekanmi, the Chief Press Secretary to INEC National Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, said the commission had not extended the June 30 deadline.

In a telephone interview, Oyekanmi said, “INEC has not extended the CVR deadline. What the commission did about two weeks ago when we noticed pressure in particular areas, namely the South-East states, Lagos, Kano, and the Federal Capital Territory, was to send additional 209 INEC Voter Enrollment Devices to those areas to ease the CVR procedure.

“The commission wanted to wait and assess the effect of that action to determine the next step, but that is by the way now because SERAP went to court and tried to stop us from stopping the CVR.

  • Netizens condemn Peter Obi’s visit to Ekweremadu home after his arrest for organ harvest

Netizens have condemned the visit to the family home of former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, by the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi , after his arrest in London for alleged organ harvest.

Obi, on Friday, via Twitter, posted: “My family and I are with the Ekweremadu’s over their travail. We join all men of goodwill in praying for the healing of their daughter and commit them into God’s hand for justice to be done, PO.”

    Netizens reaction

Cara, in her response, expressed shock, saying “For real? What he did is bad Oga… may that ur prayers never work. Justice must be served, that poor boy life would have been exchanged for Ike’s daughter, and it’s cos the boy is not from a wealthy family.”

Oyiha Micheal noted “You Don dey over do. Even Jesus change am for some guys once once. ”

Abiodun Sanusi, on his part, stated “This is not so cool, coming from a Presidential candidate. You don’t call the action of an alleged criminal ‘travail’. The fact that their daughter is sick shouldn’t be a reason for them to be involved in illegality. That young man whose organ was to be harvested is a human being.”

Daniel Regha, replying asserted “Peter Obi I get that u are trying to market urself as a people’s person, but ur sympathy towards Ike Ekweremadu seems very pretenti¤us & truth be told it makes n¤ sense cos this is someone who has been charged with child trafficking & organ harvesting; U need to tread carefully.”

A netizen, identified as Best Trader said “You know what, I support you, but I’m beginning to get irritated by this behaviour. We don’t want another Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in our hands, all playing Mr. Nice guy. If you read the story on the Ekweremandu’s, it boils around some1 possibly doing something wrong. You are…”

One Kay advised Obi to stay out of the matter, saying “Oga, you better stay out of it. Don’t you have a PR adviser? Jeez.”

About alleged organ donor, David Nwamini Ukpo
Meanwhile, Okah Ewah Edede, in his response, stressed that David Nwamini Ukpo, the alleged organ donor, arrived Lagos State in 2021 and got into phone repairs.

“He moved to the UK in March 2022,” Edede added.

  • Wike’s defection rumour heighten as Obi visits Rivers Governor

Rumour about the possible defection of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has further heightened on Wednesday following the visit of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.

The duo held a closed – door meeting during the visit with both camps maintaining sealed lips . about the possible outcome of the interface.

The closed-door meeting lasted for a few hours at Wike’s private residence at the Garden City, Port Harcourt.

The two politicians were seen shaking hands in front of Governor Wike’s residence in pictures that were posted online.

Wike was spotted in white, while his guest wore a blue senator material.

Related Story: Atikus Running Mate: Nyesom Wike speaks on defecting to APC

Obi’s visit is coming amidst speculations that Wike may dump the PDP due to the fallout over the presidential primary of the party and the failure of the party’s presidential standard-bearer, Atiku Abubakar, to pick the Rivers governor as his running mate for the 2023 general elections.

Atiku had also set up a reconciliation committee to reach out to Wike to pacify him and to solicit his support for the party to wrestle power from the All Progressives Congress at the centre.

When contacted, Wike’s media aide, Kelvin Ebiri said the meeting was ‘private’.

There are indications that Obi may be cashing in on the fallout to woo Wike to his party and solicit his support in his quest to succeed the President, Major General, Muhammadu Buhari (rted).

Recall that Wike while speaking at the PDP convention said he would support whoever emerges and he will remain in the Party.

How long the current state of polity within the PDP as it concern its relationship with the incumbent Rivers State Governor remains to be seen.

  • Are You OBIfied? The Tomfoolery of OBIdience without the ground works – By Mideno Bayagbon

Are You OBIfied? The Tomfoolery of OBIdience without the ground works – By Mideno Bayagbon

Let me come out upfront and confess: I was wrong that the closest the Igbo nation will come to the Presidency in 2023 is either through Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi or through the current Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike. As it turned out, they both carried the  Presidential ambition of the Igbo race in their respective parties but both fell short, coming second to the eventual flag bearers in the two major political parties – APC and PDP.

Atiku Abubakar used all his arsenals but still came nearly short of the goal. The north and all his henchmen had to come to his rescue before he could surmount the mountain that was the already coasting-home-to-victory Nyesom Wike.  Rotimi Amaechi  too was favoured to clinch it. Indeed, up until the dying days, it was not Ahmed Bola Tinubu who was his main opponent but the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.

But a day in politics is too long a time to let down the guard. Amaechi came second. But the major loser is President Muhammadu Buhari who must now be known as someone whose words cannot be relied on, a weakling who masquerades as a political juggernaut. When the full story of the All Progressives Congress, APC, primaries is finally told, years from now, even some of his most ardent supporters will be shocked. But let us leave Buhari alone and salute the true political juggernaut, the one who was given little chance but was able to marshal his all to wrest victory from the seemingly impregnable forces against him. Tinubu is a man’s man. Forget the humongous amount he poured into the primaries. Forget his health challenges. He proved himself a true warrior.

Perhaps, the greatest surprise so far, about the road to the 2023 Presidential and other elections, is Peter Obi. The former governor, former vice  presidential candidate, has turned the race for the coming presidential election into a huge hurricane sweeping, as at now, across the southern states of Nigeria, part of the middle belt and Abuja. He currently owns the momentum. He holds the public in a grip of wonder, of promise, of hope, of possibilities. He somehow has been able to position himself as the poster boy to all that can be good about Nigeria. And a cult of believers is fast coalescing around him. That is, among the tech-savvy youths and the voiceless elites. A true political gale is sweeping across the land, even if without a concrete, predictable base at its core. Nigerians are gradually identifying with him. His support base is growing in phenomenal “OBIdience”:. He is the most discussed candidate today.

From an inability to find a foothold in his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, where the men with deep pockets bought loyalty and votes, where the highest bidders won,  he has somehow risen like a sphinx. He is dishing out a message that is gripping the public imagination and sprouting hope in a nation held hostage by buccaneers masquerading as politicians and leaders. He is currently a wonder among the youths, the ENDSARS gang, the enlightened, progressive market men and women, musicians, artistes of various hues. He is spurning a self propelling, exciting gale  similar to the Barack Obama feat in America.

He is a good story teller, clearly showcasing his many achievements in Anambra where he was governor. The followers lap up every tale from his mouth. And he does know how to work the media, especially how to galvanise the large army of youths who are digital natives. He has strategically so positioned himself, that his messages are taking on wings of their own, going from mouth to mouth with more and more disciples coming on board, daily. For most, Obi is a breathe of fresh air in Nigeria’s putrid political scene.

Were the elections to be held today, there is a huge chance, Obi and not Atiku Abubakar or Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will carry the day among the youths and elites, in the South of Nigeria, and up to parts of the Middle belt and Abuja. But were the elections to be held on a national scale, today, Obi will be beaten silly by the duo of Atiku and Tinubu. And the reasons are not far fetched: the Obi movement is still in its infancy. It is still a cultic one man band. And we all know, the south is not all that is Nigeria. There is a huge chasm between the digital army and the large swat of rural, largely illiterate Nigerians who, across the country but more mostly in the north, are still unreached by the Obi momentum.

But is this merely all sound and fury? Is this potential revolutionary movement in the politics of Nigeria real? Is the huge hope people are building around the person of Peter Obi manifestly sustainable, scalable, and  achievable?  There is no doubt, the APC and PDP flag bearers are keeping a keen eye on what some have described as the Peter Obi Phenomenon. Among some of their aficionados, however, it is still being treated with skepticism, as  fluke, a candle in the wind.

Among the disputers of the authenticity of the movement and its possibilities of emerging as the long sought for third force, strong enough to sweep the two failed parties aside, Obi’s many alleged fault lines are listed. Among these are: OBI, the micro-manager: They point out that despite his sweet talking followers into a current movement, Peter Obi, they claim, is a micro manager. He is someone who likes to do everything himself. Someone who does not trust others to do it as well as himself. They claim he mostly  sidelined his commissioners and appointees when he was governor of Anambra State. They claim that is why even his chief of staff, Chuks Ilogbunam and others, at some stage of his government, resigned out of frustration.

OBI, the one man locomotive: They claim the Labour Party candidate can hardly point at people he has helped raise, politically and even economically, since he ventured into politics. They ask: how many people did he build? Where are his old supporters? Unlike Atiku and Tinubu, who can easily do so and point at relationships that cut across the north and south of Nigeria, Obi, they say, is  a one man gang.

OBI, the all knowing: They claim that what Obi is not saying is that he is someone who thinks he is all knowing, a sole  repository of knowledge, who thinks his solution to any given problem, is the only solution. They say he brooks no opposing views.

OBI, the saint: if there is one thing Peter Obi knows how to do, it is painting himself in irresistibly glorious  colours. Is he truly so spick and span, they ask? They paint some unprintable picture about his past and about his father that is neither here nor there.

OBI, the messiah complex: the cult of self. Here his traducers say he didn’t build or strengthen institutions sustainably, while he was at the helms at Anambra state. Yet, it is strong institutions and not strong men that we need, they note.

OBI, stinginess as a virtue. But is he a generous being? Is he given to philanthropy?  Bianca Ojukwu believes so and declares Obi is a quiet, non publicity seeking giver. She said so in her rebuke of the Rev Father Mbaka’s lambasting of Obi’s “notorious” stinginess.

Here is my take: the OBIdient movement is real. It is gaining momentum. IT has great potentials. It is a real threat to the old guard politics Nigerians are used to. But It is still far from the Eldorado of being the third force. For example, for it to gain the right political traction, a lot is still needed on the plate. Yes, his messages resonate with a lot of Nigerians but winning an election is more than that. He needs structures, people, credible politicians and faithfuls across the length and breath of the country, who identify with the new way of doing politics that his campaign offers. He needs organisers. He needs to go beyond social media and the traditional media. He needs feet on the ground, pounding the pavement, knocking on doors, selling the OBIdience message.

There is need to develop different strategies for different segments of the country. He needs to urgently gain in-roads into the northern parts of the country. He needs to build bridges and trust. He needs people to help him penetrate the northern grassroots.

Finally, even though he embodies the new message, it is time to start making it go beyond just a message to get Peter Obi elected, into a movement to change the way politics and governance are practiced in the country.

  • Peter Obi’s Coalition urges INEC to extend of Voters Registration beyond June 30

Peter Obi’s Coalition urges INEC to extend of Voters Registration beyond June 30

One of the support groups for the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, under the aegis of Coalition for Peter Obi (CPO), has written the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) demanding for expansion of its voter registration and validation infrastructure to serve the teeming numbers of Nigerians willing to register.

The group which allegedly was funded by independent professionals and intellectuals in a letter dated June 16, which was signed by its Chairman, Marcel Ngogbehei observed that no matter the number of years of extension of the voters registration and validation if the infrastructure is not expanded it will amount to a total waste of the nation’s time and resources, saying it makes more sense to employ 50,000 workers for 3 months with massive numbers of voter registration machines than to employ 5,000 workers for one year with a few machines.

It noted that INEC was expected to capture at least 20 million additional Nigerians in this exercise, but the electoral body has barely completed 4 million applications as at March 2022 according to information available on its website. This means that a whopping 16 million Nigerians are likely to be disenfranchised.

The group also observed that most citizens in the North have already been captured, but the Middle and Southern parts of the country will be denied their universal adult suffrage with the way the registration and validation exercise is being handled.

The letter reads, “The Coalition for Peter Obi (CPO), a self funded group of independent professionals and intellectuals hereby call on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately expand its infrastructure for conducting voter registration and verification exercise across the country and particularly redeploy same to areas of high demand.

“From statistical analysis, the Nigerian population is estimated at 216 million as at June 2022 according to data from the Worldbank, with a median age of 18.1 years. That means half of the population of Nigeria or 108 million are above 18 years and eligible to vote. INEC’s current voters register estimates Nigeria’s voting population at 84 million, so INEC is expected to capture at least 20 million additional Nigerian voters in this exercise, but the electoral body has completed barely 4 million applications as at March 2022 from information available on its website.

” This means that a whopping 16 million Nigerians are likely to be disenfranchised. This is not good for our democracy.

“This call has become necessary to ensure that 16 million Nigerian citizens are not disenfranchised in the forthcoming general elections.

“As part of our voter education exercise around the country in June 2022, our field volunteers have observed a clear lack of capacity on the part of INEC to service the voting population especially in high demand areas owing to inadequate infrastructure including limited numbers of registration machines resulting to a slow pace of registration in many centers. We expected that the past 3 weeks of continuous surge would have been enough for INEC to immediately restrategise, expand and redeploy resources to the areas of high demand.

“As a Coalition of several groups made up of diverse Nigerians from all works of life and from every part of the country including the diaspora, we are committed to support INEC to ensure that it carries out its statutory function as an electoral management body (EMB) to conduct free, fair and credible elections for sustainable democracy in Nigeria.

“In view of the present troubling circumstances, we recommend that INEC urgently embark on expansion of its voter registration and validation infrastructure to serve the teeming numbers of Nigerians who wish to exercise their patriotic and civic duties of voting in the forthcoming general elections.

“It has therefore become very obvious that no matter the number of years of extension of the current exercise, it will be a total waste of the nations manpower if the infrastructure is not immediately expanded to cover areas of high demand – which currently is the South. This makes sense because INEC’s data shows that most citizens in the North have been captured. Many Nigerians from the Middle and Southern parts of the country will at the end of the day be denied their universal adult suffrage.

“Failure to do this will create an impression that INEC has deliberately put machineries in place to disenfranchise a segment of the country thereby manipulating the outcome of the 2023 elections.

“We will be available to provide non interfering support to INEC to see that every Nigerian who presents himself or herself for registration is duly registered in a seamless manner as stipulated on the INEC website.”

  • APC, PDP collapse structures in Imo State for Peter Obi

Leadership of both the ruling APC and that of the major opposition party, PDP in Imo State have collapse their structures in support of the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.

The event took place in a decamping ceremony which held at Umuaro Community in Isiala – Mbano Local Government Area of Imo North Senatorial District on Sunday.

More than two thousand people joined the LP at the ceremony.

Speaking at the event, a former Deputy Chief of Staff to a former governor of the state, Chikwem Onuoha, said that the decision was reached after an investigation revealed that Obi was the best presidential material among other presidential candidates.

Onuoha, said that APC and PDP had misruled Nigeria for the past 23 years, adding that it was time Nigerians voted Obi to rescue the country.

The APC chieftain said, “Today, APC and PDP are dead in Okigwe zone. We have resolved to collapse our structures in the zone into the Labour Party and to work for the victory of Peter Obi. Peter Obi symbolises the hope of the ordinary people of Nigeria.

“Peter Obi is tested and trusted and he has the support of the people who vote during the election. Apart from Obi, we will vote LP all through. The Labour Party is for a mass movement. We are wiser and we want to take back our country.”

The President General of the Okigwe North Youth Progressives Forum, Chidinma Onyenagubo, said that his group was mobilising people to obtain their Permanent Voters Cards to vote for LP In 2023.

TheNewsGuru gathered that many political heavyweights in the South Eastern part of the country are gearing up to boost the candidature of Mr Peter Obi who is currently the most viable presidential candidate from the area.
