Jude Okoye sends strong message to Peter Okoye, Cynthia Morgan

Jude Okoye, Psquare’s former manager has taken to social media to throw a shade to his brother Peter Okoye and former signee Cynthia Morgan.

The music executive in his post on Instagram called out everyone who became greedy and left his label, only to blame him for their downfall.

According to Jude, these individuals were successful and influential when he was supporting them, but they got greedy, left, and are now pointing fingers at him.

Jude’s post reads, “They all have one thing in common: They were big, influential, and successful when I was shouldering them with my platform until they got greedy and wanted to eat alone and so left.” He accuses them of bragging about their newfound freedom and making it on their own, only to fall off the wagon, go broke, and blame him for their misfortunes.

I am not MayD or Cynthia Morgan – Peter Okoye reacts to allegations of false statement to EFCC

Peter Okoye, twin brother of the defunct music group (P-Square) also known as Mr. P has reacted to claims of lying in his statement to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the ongoing fraud trial involving royalties and company finances.

Recall that, the anti-graft agency had arraigned Jude Okoye alongside his company, Northside Music Ltd, on a four-count charge bordering on fraud.

During cross-examination by the defence counsel, Clement Onwuenwunor, SAN, presented evidence to the court presided over by Justice Rahman Oshodi, which revealed that Peter’s testimony was riddled with inconsistencies and outright fabrications intended to mislead the EFCC and tarnish the reputation of the defendant, Jude.

The defence also discredited Peter’s earlier statement to the EFCC in which he described himself as a graduate of the University of Abuja. Onwuenwunor revealed that Peter had, in fact, dropped out of the institution contrary to his earlier claim.

When confronted with the discrepancy between his oral claims and written EFCC testimony, Peter attempted to backtrack, stating that he had only said he “attended” the University.

Speaking after court session, Singer Peter Okoye noted that he will continue to speak his truth, especially after seeing what became of late Nigerian singer, Mohbad who died under suspicious circumstances.

Peter wrote: “Exactly what I was talking about: their publicist doing everything for me to look like a liar. I am not MayD or Cynthia Morgan; I am PETER OKOYE, the one and only THE ROCK/OKWUTE of the Okoyes. The truth shall surely prevail#UnaThiefAbiUnaNoThief#FamilyDoesNotStealFromFamily.”

“After watching everything about Mohbad’s death and how the whole thing played out to date, I decided to myself that I would never play the bigger person nor act as the mature one. And that’s exactly what led to this whole madness. Simply because I was trying to be the bigger person and act maturely! Omo! Never again. So love me or hate me, I will continue speaking my truth,” he noted

Peter Okoye reacts after being ‘arrested’ for fraud in Ghana

Nigerian singer, Peter Okoye has distanced himself from a viral reports of a man sharing his name who was recently arrested in Ghana for alleged kidnapping and fraud.

This comes after Ghanaian police during a press conference disclosed that they had apprehended a 31-year-old suspect identified as Peter Okoye.

The man was accused of kidnapping and defrauding two women — Anastasia Baidoo Arthur and Evelyn Konadu — under the guise of marriage proposals.

Due to the shared name, some social media users mistakenly linked the arrest to the musician.

Reacting, Mr P via the microblogging platform, X, urged the Ghana Police Service to clarify the suspect’s identity, firmly stating that he has no connection to the case.

“Abeg make una dey specifically dey specify which “PETER OKOYE” I no be Thief,” he wrote in pidgin English.

The two kidnap victims were rescued by the police while Okoye and other suspects including Chinonso Okafor, Christian Emeka and Paulinus Chidokwe were arrested.

Recently, Mr P appeared in court as the first prosecution witness in the alleged fraud case involving his older brother, Jude Okoye.

Jude is being tried alongside his company, Northside Music Ltd, before Ramon Oshodi of the Ikeja high court over allegations of money laundering involving N1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59.

How Jude Okoye stole $1m, £34,537: Peter Okoye speaks in court

On Friday, May 16, 2025, the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) presented its first witness in the fraud trial involving Jude Chigozie Okoye and his company, Northside Music Ltd. The proceedings took place before Justice Rahman Oshodi at the State High Court in Ikeja, Lagos.

Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P and one half of the P-Square duo, testified as the first prosecution witness (PW1) against his elder brother Jude, who formerly managed the group. Jude and Northside Music Ltd. face a four-count charge related to alleged theft totaling $1 million and £34,537.

Led by EFCC counsel Mohammed Bashir, Peter testified that Jude’s wife, Ifeoma, held 80% ownership in Northside Music Ltd., while Jude owned the remaining 20%. He explained, “I filed a petition with the EFCC through my lawyer on January 22, 2024. Initially, I named Northside Music as the respondent. However, investigations revealed that Ifeoma was the primary shareholder.”

Peter added that after filing the petition, he did not contact Jude or his twin brother, Paul, until April 2024 when the EFCC asked whether Paul was involved. “I said I didn’t know. But during their investigation, EFCC found that Jude operated over 47 bank accounts to receive royalties,” he stated.

He further revealed that although both Paul and Jude were later summoned by the EFCC, only Jude was detained. “Jude never denied committing the act,” Peter said. “Paul later told me that Jude owns 40% of P-Square, while the rest of us own 30% each.”

Peter claimed he was unaware of the registration of Northside Music, which he discovered had been established in 2015 and was operating before the group split. “Ifeoma had no involvement in our professional activities. I only learned about Northside Music during my findings,” he said.

The prosecution then presented the petition dated January 22, 2024, which was admitted into evidence without objection from Jude’s lead counsel, Clement Onwuenwunor, SAN.

Earlier in his testimony, Peter recounted how he and Paul began their music career in 1999. In 2005/2006, they co-founded Northside Entertainment Ltd., where all three brothers were directors and shareholders. Jude was the sole signatory to the company’s three accounts at Eco Bank, FCMB, and Zenith Bank.

“Both Naira and Dollar accounts were under his control. When we split in 2017 and later reconciled in 2021, I received no royalties during that time,” Peter testified. “Before the split, all royalties were paid into Northside Entertainment Ltd.”

He also referenced two digital music aggregators—i-rocking.com and FreeMe Digital—which generated revenue from streams. “Once people played our music, it produced income through these platforms,” he said.

After the group’s reunion, Peter went solo as Mr P and hired a new manager. He then discovered discrepancies in royalty payments, which led him to investigate Northside Music. “While touring in London, we were approached by buyers interested in our music catalog, but they needed backend access. After failed attempts to retrieve it from Jude, I realized he had altered the original backend. This caused at least seven potential buyers to walk away,” he revealed.

The trial was adjourned to May 23, 2025, for further proceedings.

Family feud: Peter Okoye testifies against brother Jude over alleged N1.38bn fund diversion

On Monday, April 14, 2025, Peter Obumneme Okoye, one half of the renowned music duo P-Square, testified against his elder brother and former manager, Jude Chigozie Okoye, in a case of alleged financial misappropriation.

Peter appeared as the first prosecution witness (PW1) for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) before Justice A. Owoeye at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos. Jude Okoye and his company, Northside Music Limited, are facing a seven-count charge bordering on money laundering involving N1.38 billion.

One of the charges states that in 2022, Jude and his company allegedly acquired a property worth ₦850 million at No. 5 Tony Eromosele Street, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos, using funds suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activity. Jude pleaded not guilty when arraigned on February 26, 2025.

During his testimony, Peter identified Jude as both his elder brother and the former manager of the P-Square group. He recounted how the music duo, which started in 1997, disbanded in 2017 before reuniting in November 2021.

Peter explained that before Jude took over as manager, P-Square was managed by several individuals, including Chioma Ugochi during their school days, and the late Bayo Odusami of Mbuntu Music for five years. Later, Peter and his twin brother Paul briefly managed themselves before bringing Jude on board, along with Northside Entertainment Limited.

He alleged persistent disputes over how Jude handled the group’s finances, especially the fact that Jude was the sole signatory to all their business bank accounts in Ecobank, Zenith Bank, and FCMB. Peter claimed he had no access to these accounts and was forced to seek legal advice from Festus Keyamo (SAN), now the Minister of Aviation, to push for a fair revenue-sharing formula.

Peter detailed a specific instance when Northside Entertainment stopped funding his house construction in Ikoyi for six months. When he sought clarification, he said Jude and Paul responded, “If you leave P-Square, you leave the money.” This prompted him to approach Keyamo again.

He said the group’s earnings were kept in accounts controlled solely by Jude and that he only discovered the existence of a similar company, Northside Music Limited, in 2022. While negotiating with parties interested in acquiring their music catalogue, Peter requested account statements and access to backend earnings data—information typically handled by aggregators—but was denied access by Jude.

When Peter confronted Paul about this, he claimed Paul dismissed his concerns and deferred to Jude. Eventually, Peter managed to transfer the music catalogue to Mad Solutions, a move which soon yielded over $22,000 in revenue. This revealed to him that Jude and Paul had also been receiving payments without his knowledge.

Upon investigating further, Peter discovered through the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) that Northside Music Limited was owned by Jude and his wife, with her holding 80% of the shares. He also discovered irregularities in the backend data provided—figures were missing or altered, significantly reducing the catalogue’s market value.

He claimed that when potential buyers noticed discrepancies in the backend, a deal originally worth $8,000 dropped below $500. Peter then brought the matter to Paul, who allegedly dismissed the situation and told him to “do your worst.”

A tax officer named Emmanuel later informed Peter that Jude had claimed the group hadn’t performed since the split, but bank statements from 2017 showed that aggregators were still making payments to their Access Bank account. This led Peter to contact his lawyer, Afolabi, who subsequently reported the case to the EFCC.

The case has been adjourned until June 4, 2025, for cross-examination.

Peter Okoye’s management speaks on singer’s involvement in Jude’s legal issues

Peter Okoye, one half of the estranged musical duo PSquare has denied allegations that he played a role in his brother Jude Okoye’s recent arraignment.

TheNewsGuru recalls that Jude Okoye, the former manager of the popular music group Psquare, was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) before Justice Alexander Owoeye of the Federal High Court in Lagos over allegations of N1.38 billion fraud.

Speaking after court hearing, Paul Okoye accused Peter of being responsible for their elder brother’s ordeal.

He stated, “It is not about supporting him because I know the truth. And the truth is, unfortunately, the way the journalists are making it look like he is a fraud.

“Let’s call a spade a spade, Peter is the one putting Jude to this thing, simple. It is Peter that is doing this, putting him in prison, and I’m here to bring him out.”

In response to Paul’s claims, Peter’s manager, Emem Kush, dismissed the allegations in a statement to Punch Saturday Beats.

She said, “I don’t know Peter is on this issue. And I don’t think he has any comment on this issue. The case is between the EFCC, based on their investigation, and Jude Okoye.

“I don’t see how Peter Okoye has anything to do with it. We have no comment on this matter. Peter didn’t drag anybody to the EFCC.

“The petition was against the company that has been receiving funds on his behalf. And he knew nothing about it. Don’t mix up issues, and let’s not create issues where they are not.”

Regarding whether any conditions were attached to the case, she added, “The EFCC was the one that received all of this, so I think it’s best to speak to them to know the facts of the case, and their findings.

“I don’t represent the EFCC. I’m not spokesman for the EFCC. I’m not spokesman for either party, so I can’t tell you.”
