  • Peter Okoye opens up on contracting coronavirus with wife, domestic staff

    Singer, Peter Okoye a.k.a Mr P has revealed that himself, his wife, Lola Omotayo, his daughter, Aliona Okoye and two of his domestic staff, tested positive for coronavirus.

     

    The 38-year-old made this known in two videos he shared on Instagram on Saturday.

    In his words:” For the past twelve weeks, I have been sick… I had COVID-19 for about three weeks. …The reason why I decided to come out and say it is to encourage a lot of people concerning social distancing… It wasn’t just me, my wife daughter, wife, two of my domestic staff… I am happy to announce that all of us are now negative…,” he said.

     

     

    TheNewsGuru recalls that Afropop singer, Azadus recently said he also contracted the dreaded COVID-19.

    “My Survivor story with Covid-19 Glory be to God I just got discharged of Covid-19. Half bread is better than puff-puff. That garri in your house is far better than the good meals you won’t be able to eat at the hospital. My Advice,” he wrote in a series of posts.

     

    “If you must go out, see everyone as that COVID-19 itself and wash your hands for 40secs at the least. Meanwhile, if you insist that Covid-19 is not real, COVID-19 is not in Nigeria or Africa.

     

    “Ha! well, don’t be shy to ask me questions. Please kindly say a word of prayer for @lagosstategovt under our super caring Governor @jidesanwoolu. God bless. To whom much is given, much is expected. @lagosstategovt took care of me and my medical bills along with thousands when I was hospitalized.

     

    “I feel the need to pay back through my little contribution is just appropriate and patriotic. If you like you can say I have been paid, may God not let your ignorance kill u.

     

    “If you must go out today, my advice is that you everyone and anyone as COVID-19. If you still don’t believe it exists, kindly ask me so I can share the horrible experience God got me out of with you.”

    Peter Okoye, twin brother of the defunct music group (P-Square) also known as Mr. P has tested positive for COVID 19.

    The Nigerian musician confirmed this via his verified Twitter page on Saturday.

    In a series of videos posted, Peter Okoye revealed his wife, Lola Omotayo, and daughter, Aliona also tested positive for Coronavirus.

    He added that his domestic staff also contracted the virus.

    He noted that it has been hectic in the past few weeks for his family.

    He, however, urged all his fans to stay safe and adhere to COVID-19 guidelines.

    Peter Okoye one half of the defunct pop group, Psquare has said being a solo artist is the best thing that has happened to him.

    Peter had taken to his Twitter page on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, where he tweeted about aging backward since becoming a solo artist.

    “By the way! Did y’all notice since I went solo and became Mr P I started aging backward…its called PEACE OF MIND and drinking more water and minding my business. Can you beat that? More of it biko. Mr P still trending on Twitter,” he wrote.

    He however deleted the controversial post minutes later

     

    TheNewsGuru recalls that Paul and Peter Okoye were Nigeria’s biggest musical group up until they had the famous feud that led to their sad break-up.

     

    During an interview with on Cool Fm, Peter was asked If he was on talking terms with Jude Okoye his elder brother.

     

    He said: “I’m always going to wish him the best of his life…like me I don’t have any problem with anybody but if they really have any problem with me, its fine, I’m living my life,” he said.

    One half of the defunct music group, Psquare, Peter Okoye now known as Mr P has denied promising to give ex-BBNaija housemate Tacha N60 million whether or not she wins the reality show.

    Tacha was disqualified on Friday from the Big Brother house automatically ruling her out from winning the show.

    Okoye was widely reported to have promised to give the controversial self-acclaimed Port Harcourt first daughter the prize money whether she won or not.

    However, in a widely watched live video with Instagram celebrity Tunde Ednut on Friday after Tacha’s disqualification, the musician debunked the promise.

    He said he never promised to give Tacha any money.

    According to him: “I said I will teach her how to make N60million, I never said I will give her N60million.”

    Peter went ahead to pledge to give N10million to anyone who can provide a piece of video evidence or a tweet where he promised Tacha N60million.

    Months after the split of Psquare, Peter Okoye now known as Mr P has revealed that disrespect directed towards himself and his family made him quit Psquare.

    The ‘Ebeano’ singer got married to Lola Omotayo-Okoye in 2015 and they have two children named Cameron and Aliona.

    Speaking in a chat with Citizen TV in Kenya, he said: “In life what we call family value is important.The fans want Psquare but how many times do you want Psquare to come back and break up. We’ve broken up three times and the same issue is still there. So if Psquare is going to come back we need to settle that issue. Psquare might come back, they might not come back. I pulled out the plug because I felt the disrespect coming from my family (was) getting too much,” he said.

    “There’s something we call marginalisation. Don’t ever be a slave because you want to be family. Psquare can only come back if the respect comes 100 percent. I don’t disrespect my brother’s wife neither, his family but he does that to me all the time. He’ll insult me and my family in public, on Instagram, and the next minute he’ll wait for me backstage for us to perform together.

    “I can’t do that. One thing is for sure, I took a vow to protect my wife and kids the day I got married and I stick to that.”

     

    Recall that in an interview with Vanguard, Paul Okoye had kept mum on what led to the crash of the pop-group.

    According to him:” I don’t even want to talk about the past. There are certain things you would ask me that will benefit you as a journalist, but won’t benefit me. So, the best thing I will do is to skip it because I don’t like discussing family issues. Except you want to know more about my personal family. As for my fans who want to hear my own side of the breakup story, I have my own way of communicating with them”.

  • What Nigerian youth needs to do- Peter Okoye

    The Nigerian youth need to be more creative and enterprising to improve the economic and political landscape of the country, Mr Peter Okoye of the “P-Square’’ fame, has said.

     

    Okoye, a hip hop artiste, now popularly known as “Mr P’’, made the assertion when he spoke as a Guest Speaker at The Future Awards Africa reception for the nominees of the 12th edition on Friday in Lagos.

    Okoye, who is also of the P Square musical duo, said there was need for youths to harness their personal and business skills to make them less dependent on a government that is challenged.

     

    “There is need for Nigerian youths to develop their knowledge, attitude and skills and explore opportunities with their God-given talents.

     

    “The youths are the leaders of tomorrow and a lot depends on their present output.

     

    “While the societal, economic, political, and governance outlook appears dim, the youth should not be discouraged because amid all, there are still some youths that are making positive impact.

     

    “I have passed through this level before in my career; we were nominated in the second edition of this project and we won.

     

    “ The truth is that we are the future, the young generation should come out and rule their world positively.

     

    “They should come and start doing things for themselves and not always wait for the government; sometimes, we depend on our government and we become so lazy; make an impact for yourself,’’ Okoye advised.

     

    Also, Bukola Adebakin, Chief Operating Officer for The Future Project, told NAN that there were young people doing remarkable exploits in their fields.

     

    “It is wonderful that beyond the challenges and issues that we have in our country, in spite of the harsh economic landscape, insecurity and uncertainties, we have enterprising and creative young people that are breaking grounds and taking initiatives to make their communities and our country better.

     

    “We have a 21-year-old pilot in the nomination category this year and in fact, many 18, 19, and 20-year-olds who are doing amazing stuffs nationwide”.
