  • “What is he there for” – Petit slams Sancho move to Chelsea

“What is he there for” – Petit slams Sancho move to Chelsea

Former French footballer Emmanuel Petit has slammed the move for Jadon Sancho.

Sancho has arrived on-loan from Manchester United.

“When I saw they had signed Jadon Sancho on Deadline Day, I wondered if there was even any shirt numbers left for him,” he told BetVictor and Football.London.

“Imagine him opening the door to the dressing room and seeing so many players they don’t all fit in the same dressing room! At the training ground they must have two dressing rooms, three pitches and 12 physios.

“The club are not the only ones responsible for the situation. It also comes down to the players. How can Sancho bring himself to sign for Chelsea after what happened at Manchester United? He was loaned to Borussia Dortmund, then went back to United, and now he’s off to Chelsea who have 40 or so players and he is just one of them.”

Petit continued: “Hasn’t he had enough of moving around clubs, losing his way on the pitch and losing his confidence? Now he’s at a club that has no consistency, lacking in confidence and results. If he’s not there for the money, what is he there for?”

  • Aaron Ramsdale must leave Arsenal – Petit

Aaron Ramsdale must leave Arsenal – Petit

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale must find a way to move away from the club in the January transfer window.

That is according to former player Emmanuel Petit, who believes Ramsdale’s career is stagnating.

The England international is now second choice keeper at Arsenal behind David Raya, who arrived in the summer.

Petit told Compare.bet: “People say that signing Raya was a mistake and he hasn’t been perfect but aren’t Arsenal top of the league? Yes Raya has made some mistakes but he has also made some brilliant saves and he has been excellent in building up from the back.

“If I was Ramsdale there is no doubt I would ask for a move away in January. I can see he is miserable at the moment and every day he must be waking up thinking ‘what did I do wrong?’ He did everything, and has no reason to feel responsible for dropping him, but you cannot deny that Arsenal are first in the league with Raya in goal.

“Especially with the Euros coming up, Ramsdale absolutely has to leave. I’m pretty sure there are many, many clubs in the Premier League that would love to have him.”

  • I see Harry Maguire as ‘destroyed mentality’, he has no future – Petit

I see Harry Maguire as ‘destroyed mentality’, he has no future – Petit

Forner France international Emmanuel Petit cannot see a future for Harry Maguire at Manchester United.

The World Cup winner believes that the 29-year-old is “destroyed mentally” at Old Trafford following his struggles at the club. A switch to Chelsea has been mooted with Thomas Tuchel believed to have identified the player as a possible alternative to Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana.

Petit told Fair Betting Sites: “If I am Maguire, I would feel insecure and in a very difficult position.

“I lost the armband, I’m not the captain anymore, I lost my place in the team. And now I am on the bench.

“When I look at him, my first feeling is ‘this guy is destroyed mentally’. He’s not there anymore. He needs to rebuild mentally.

“He has to do this every single game, by playing well. Trying to get back the confidence from the fans, from his team-mates, from the press, from himself. To try to feel more secure on the pitch.

“At the moment, this is not the case. I think mentally, he’s very low, he’s down. He needs to work mentally.

“He’s got quality to be a good defender – for me, he’s not one of the top defenders, he’s never been.

“But he’s a good quality defender if he’s good in his head and plays well. But this is not the case for ages. He has received criticism for two or three years now.

“For me, I’m not sure his future is laying with Manchester United. I think things have gone too far.

“To be honest with you, if I am Maguire, I would probably think about leaving.

“Because the World Cup is coming, so if I’m not playing, that means my position in the national team is in danger as well. All the dangers are surrounding him.

“He needs to take a very strong decision for his future right now. If I’m Maguire, I cannot see myself playing the next game.

“Ten Hag has been convinced with [Raphael] Varane and [Lisandro] Martinez – I can guarantee they will play the next game.

“And if they play well and they win again, he will never change his team. That means Maguire can spend weeks on the bench, looking at his team-mates.

“He needs to take a big decision. If he wants to play for Chelsea, that could be good for him. I think he would probably play, because Thiago Silva is aged, and they need a central defender.

“I think it’s a win-win position for Chelsea and Maguire. If I am Maguire, I would leave Manchester United.”

Time for Paul Pogba to leave Man Utd – Petit

Former France international Emmanuel Petit says Paul Pogba needs to leave Manchester United.

United are attempting to convince Pogba to sign a new deal and stay as his current contract enters it’s final two months.

But Petit told the Mirror: “Paul Pogba should not stay at Manchester United after the summer. It’s time for him to leave the club.

“His body language says it all that he is not happy there. He is not the only one by the way, there are so many frustrated players in the club!

“If you ask the whole locker room, I’m sure half of them (the players) would actually like to leave … there are no positive vibes. They have problems on and off the field. These are two different worlds.”

Link between Pogba and Man Utd now broken – Petit

France World Cup winner Emmanuel Petit says Paul Pogba is clearly unhappy at Manchester United.

The midfielder’s United contract expires in the summer and a renewal looks highly unlikely as he is linked with Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Juventus.

“‘I believe the link is broken between Paul Pogba and Manchester United,” he told Bookmakers.com.

“You can see in his body language that he is not happy, it is obvious. You don’t have to be an expert to understand that.

“In the last few years, he has been hit by so many injuries and I just believe it is time for him to leave the club.

“His future is just not at Manchester United. They also get no benefit out of a player that is clearly not motivated anymore either.

“Which means they need to find the best solution for both of them.”

  • Emmanuel Petit reveals Zidane ‘learning English’ for next job

Emmanuel Petit reveals Zidane ‘learning English’ for next job

France World Cup winner Emmanuel Petit says Zinedine Zidane is learning English – though has questioned whether he’d be tempted by the Manchester United job.

Zidane is being linked with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s job at United, though his former France teammate Petit can’t see such a move happening.

“I’m pretty sure after the 2022 World Cup Deschamps will leave the national team and join a club, he hinted at it in a press conference the other day,” Petit said.

“Zinedine has been mentioned as the next France manager for years, ever since he left Madrid the first time, so it would not be a surprise for anyone if that was his next job.”

While Petit did not rule out former Real Madrid coach Zidane taking the United job entirely, he explained why he does not anticipate such a move happening.

“If you are a manager of a football club you need to speak different languages,” the 51-year-old noted.

“There are so many examples of wrong decisions in football – not necessarily the wrong decision about someone’s ability, but about the dressing room being a right fit given all the different nationalities.

“Communication is very important, so if you do not speak the language when you arrive at a club like Manchester United, that could be a big problem.

“I’ve been told that he has been learning English recently, so I think he knows it’s important for his career, but Zinedine being linked with Manchester United – I don’t believe it, to be honest.

“Of course, he’s a big name but he never played in the Premier League and has very little connection with it, so as I said, I don’t believe it.”
