Edo 2020: I’m ashamed of my father, Oshiomhole, says Shaibu

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu has described the former acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole as not just his former boss but as his father, but that he is ashamed of how the former acting National Chairman is fooling himself around.

According to Shaibu, “Actually comrade Adams Oshiomhole is not my former boss but my father and I am ashamed, I am ashamed that Adams Oshiomhole who is my father will be fooling himself like he’s doing.

“I am really ashamed but I want to apologise to Nigerians, you know there’s a certain age you get to law of diminishing return sets in, I think that’s what is affecting my father but we’d take care of him as a good child, we’d take him to where they can check him medically properly so that he can return to the era where he was wearing khaki. Now he’s putting on safari, I think it has changed his mentality.

“But I want to talk about what he said just now, and I also want to agree with him that the proper name of my boss the governor of Edo state Godwin Obaseki will be reaffirmed on the 19th of September 2020.

“That is ‘his name is Godwin and God will definitely win in this election, so I want to join him to agree that the proper name of my governor will be reaffirmed on the 19th of September”.

The Deputy Governor, who spoke on Channels Television “Politics Today” and monitored by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Benjamin Atu said “I also want to join to agree with Oshiomhole when he was prophesying those days when he was wearing khaki, when he said nobody can challenge God, and that we must also check the name we give to our children and he attributed to the fact that God bless my governor’s parents for giving him the name Godwin. And that is why God will win as any man that stands in the way of God that God will punish the person. So I want to agree with him (Oshiomhole) that if he Oshiomhole does not support that God will win then the prayer he prayed will follow him.

While speaking on the ongoing tension and events happening in the State, the Deputy Governor said, “if I must go back to what is happening in Edo state, he’s talking about certificate. I don’t want to go to history but if I must go to history very soon we will know why somebody will be a governor and ministry of education will be burnt down when tribunal is sitting. We’d go back there. Somebody that does not have a certificate can not talk about a man that he alluded to the fact and he waved his immunity and swear to God that this man went to school.”

“Not only that he went to UI, he even went America, and he helped to set up banks, that he was his brain box and without him he wouldn’t have succeeded for 8years. The same man now is talking the other way.”

I think the lesson here is that we should try not to allow the younger ones to hear what comrade said before and what he is saying now because we would not be sending a good message to our younger ones because they would see him as a role model, and that role model is not something we should sell to our children where you speak from both sides of your mouth.”

The Deputy Governor maintained that “As far as am concerned, in Edo state governor Godwin Obaseki has overwhelming support, because he’s not a man that speaks anyhow.”

He earned the name wake and see Governor because people sleep at night and wake up to see a project in their environment. OBASEKI has serve the people not Oshiomhole, let the people speak and not Oshiomhole. You can see they are spending money on propaganda.

Oshiomhole is not contesting an election, Oshiomhole got to Abuja to be National chairman of the APC, from 36 states they reduced to 18 states. That is not the Oshiomhole that we know, the Oshiomhole that we know was the one that will have Godwin Obaseki behind him as a brain box, that will have Oge ( the Edo State SSG)behind him as his CPU and have Edo people support him to succeed. But the Oshiomhole we have today is different so Seun, the election of Edo state is already won by my governor because people of Edo state are with him.

Clearing the air on the issue of the governor’s certificate raised by Oshiomhole saying PDP were the first to take up the certificate issue to court:

“Yes, the candidate Ize-iyamu raised the issue in court and court affirms that actually the case was dismissed because those credentials were original. And recently, University of Ibadan is just a stone throw from here and they also affirm that the certificate was not false, they are original and that they issued those certificate.

I think this is clear distraction. Like i earlier said I’ve apologized to Nigerians for my Father’s new attitude, but we’d take care of that. Even my certificate is being questioned by the same Adams Oshiomhole and his cohorts. They’ve gone to court on my own certificate also that there were also issues of litigation in case I won. Even my recent MBA certificate is also in court. Like i said earlier, they’re just trying to distract us and we refused to be distracted”

On keeping fate with campaign promises, the Deputy Governor said ” We promise we’re going to take good governance to the next level and that next level was to improve on what we achieved under comrade Adams Oshiomhole. Because the brain box was the governor who was the head of the economic team, I was the majority leader in the Edo state House of Assembly that speaks for the executive in the house of Assembly. So our collective work for 8 years which comrade also testified to was what we are going to take to the next level.

What was this next level? Some of these roads that were being constructed to forest areas, we have converted them to an Algerian area now, that’s the next level we are preaching about.

Speaking on the achievements of the Obaseki’s administration Philip Shaibu said, Is it in the area of Edo job or in the area of Education? For instance, in education under Oshiomhole which the governor was the chairman of economic team and I was majority leader in the Edo state house of Assembly, he built red roofs but those red roofs does not translate to what we wanted it to be in terms of educational policy now those red roofs were just buildings. Now what makes it a school? We have taken it to another level, digital learning is now in our Edo best program where teachers no longer use their hands to write their lesson notes.

Nobody wants to be a begger, what the people want is for government to create an enabling environment for them to be able to do their businesses, provide security, put infrastructure in place and open up the economy.

“On the creation of the 200,000 job comrade Philip Shaibu said “As at today I can vividly tell you that we have surpassed the 200,000 jobs because I just told you just a business day on his own not even from our own data, on his own chart by November last year, we have it on record that on their own check we’ve created 176,000 jobs. It was published, widely published. And by our own calculations, as at that time we have created 196,000 jobs.

On the issue of Federal might in the forth coming September Governorship election the Deputy Governor said ” As far as am concerned I believe that as Oshiomhole said there are no federal might but local might, our people are ready, they won’t be intimidated. They want to harass us because they know they are losing the election. But I can tell you that, just like the governor has said, we have told our people to be peaceful and I want to rely on comrade’s philosophy that we must vote and defend our votes and we must stand by one man one vote. One Oshiomhole one vote, one governor Obaseki one vote, one Philip Shaibu one vote, that principle is what we’d stand on, and we are going to i

We are not weakling, we don’t look for trouble but when trouble come we don’t run. As far as this election is concerned our people have made up their mind that Obaseki will return and by the grace of God I can assure you Seun that we would be very peaceful and we’d not be intimidated and we’d win the election by the grace of God.

Deputy Governor of Edo State Comrade Philip Shaibu has called on members of the public to disregard the ongoing propaganda that he is on war path with his Boss, even as he accused former APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and his rejected son Ize-Iyamu of conducting their political affairs as a primitive war.
He described the allegation that he is on war path with his Boss over issue of fund as reckless, unguided and efforts to mislead people by those who are afraid of the unity that exist between him and his Boss.
“This Machiavellian system of politics where all forms of wizardry tactics are deployed both through fair and foul means will certainly achieve the opposite result,” Shaibu said.
The Deputy Governor cautioned the authors, sponsors and those with unprecedented capacity for lies and blackmailing to thread cautiously and advised them to first engaged their brains before putting their mouth and pen into forward gear.
A statement made available to the media by the Senior Special Assistant to the Deputy Governor, Mr Benjamin Atu, condemned the misleading story and online publication against the personality of the Deputy Governor by persons described as miscreants and mischievous elements sponsored by hopeless and helpless political jobbers and merchants.
Describing the publication against the Edo Deputy Governor as a malicious and devilish campaign of calumny, the statement noted that the plot of the enemies of the State is to create disagreement between the Deputy Governor and his Boss Governor Godwin Obaseki, but their efforts are instead achieving the opposite result and the more the blackmailing, the stronger the bond between the Governor and his most dependable deputy.
Comrade Philip Shaibu vowed that his loyalty to Governor Godwin Obaseki will remain sacrosanct, saying that both Adams Oshiomhole and Ize-Iyamu have, through their publication, revealed their wish and their wish will never happen.
“Politics has a way of letting you know the inner recess of the human mind.
“My loyalty to Governor Obaseki is sacrosanct and not debatable. No amount of blackmail or propaganda can stop me from serving the interest of the Governor and Edo people.
“I am solidly with Governor Obaseki. It is a joint ticket and we will make sure we win the September 19th Governorship election in Edo State” Philip Shaibu declared.
He called on the People of the state to disregard ongoing rumor and warned them to: “Expect more of this kind of propaganda from these characters that didn’t wish us well.
The Statement then called on the Nigeria Police and and other Security agencies to take a closer look at the intentions of purposes of these miscreants and mischievous elements and ensure that the perpetrators are decisively dealt with.

”But what I am happy about is that I am happy to consolidate and make history on the issue of godfatherism in Edo State.

”One thing I found in PDP is that they have a way of quickly resolving issues, what I have seen with them is completely different from where I am coming from (APC).”

Shuaibu said this in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Ebomhiana Musa, on Monday in Benin.

“Some mischief makers have been making some desperate posts with a view to stigmatising the deputy governor Philip Shaibu with the deadly coronavirus.

Edo Govt. gives warring communities one month ultimatum

Edo Deputy Gov. Philip Shaibu has given communities in four local governments across the state one month ultimatum to amicably resolve all disputes.

Shaibu, also the Chairman, Edo state Boundary Committee, said this during a meeting with the representatives of affected communities at Government House, Benin on Wednesday.

He explained that Gov. Godwin Obaseki gave his committee a clear mandate to ensure that all land disputes between communities and local governments within the state were resolved by the end of next year.

“The best way to achieve peace is when both parties in a dispute amicably agree on a compromise, rather than allowing judgment which always favours one person and breeds hatred in the other.

“Edo government is committed to ensuring that peace reigns in all communities in the state.

“It is the consensus of the clan heads that government should do a demarcation of disputed areas for clear understanding of boarder areas.

“Let me warn that failure to resolve the problem within the stipulated time will amount to risking forfeiture of such land,’’ he said.

The affected local governments are Oredo, Uhunmwonde, Etsako East and Etsako Central.
