    Man City to face Real Madrid in Champions League play-off [Full draw]

    Manchester City will play 15-time European Cup winners Real Madrid and Celtic will face Bayern Munich in the Champions League play-off round.

    City, the 2023 Champions League winners, will host Madrid at Etihad Stadium on 11 or 12 February before travelling to Spain for the second leg the following week.

    Celtic, the first British club to win the trophy when they did so in 1967, will face Bayern Munich at Celtic Park before the Bundesliga club host Brendan Rodgers’ side at Allianz Arena in the second leg.

    The winners of City’s tie against Madrid and Celtic’s meeting with Bayern will face either German side Bayer Leverkusen or Spanish club Atletico Madrid in the last 16.

    The draw for the last 16 is on 21 February, following the conclusion of the play-off ties, but some elements of that draw are pre-determined.

    UCL: UEFA releases Champions League play-offs draws

    The final stage before the group phases of the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League has been set with the play-off round draw conducted on Monday, August 5, at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland.

     

    The draw, held at 12:00 CET, decided the matchups for the play-off rounds scheduled for August 20/21 and 27/28, where teams will compete for a spot in the prestigious tournament’s main event.

     

    This was displayed on the Website if the European Football Body titled “UEFA Champions League play-off round draw.”

     

    Here are the complete matchups:

     

    – Young Boys Bern (SUI) vs. Galatasaray (TUR)

    – Dinamo Zagreb (CRO) vs. Qarabag (AZE) or Ludogorets (BUL)

    – Midtjylland (DEN) or Ferencvaros (HUN) vs. Slovan Bratislava (SVK) or APOEL Nicosia (CYP)

    – Jagiellonia Bialystok (POL) or Bodo/Glimt (NOR) vs. Crvena Zvezda (SRB)

    The draw adheres to specific procedures to ensure fairness, with teams playing home and away matches in a knockout format. An equal number of seeded and unseeded clubs are paired based on club coefficient rankings, and certain teams are restricted from being drawn against each other.

     

    In the Champions Path, 10 teams were split into five seeded and five unseeded categories, while in the League Path, four teams were divided into two seeded and two unseeded groups.

    Qatar 2022: FIFA confirms details of final two play-off places

    The final two places at this year’s World Cup will be decided in Qatar in June with global football governing body FIFA confirming the venue and match order on Wednesday.

    Doha’s Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium will host the decisive games on June 13 and June 14.

    Australia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) meet in Doha on June 7, with the winner of that match taking on Peru for a finals place on June 13.

    The winning side will go into Group D alongside holders France, plus Denmark and Tunisia.

    On June 14, Costa Rica will take on New Zealand for the final place at the tournament.

    The winners will go into Group E alongside Spain, Germany and Japan.

    Super Eagles arrive Kumasi ahead of Qatar 2022 World Cup Play-Off

    The Super Eagles on Thursday morning arrived in Kumasi, the capital of Ashanti region for their Qatar 2022 World Cup Play- Off first leg tie against the Black Stars of Ghana on Friday (tomorrow).

     

    The contingent flew into the city on a chartered Air Peace flight.

     

    They are expected to stay at Golden Tulip Hotel Kumasi City.

     

    The West African giants will clash on Friday at the Baba Yara Stadium by 8:00pm.

     

    The Super Eagles have landed in Kumasi, the capital of Ashanti region for their Qatar 2022 World Cup Play- Off first leg tie against the Black Stars of Ghana on Friday.

    The contingent flew into the city on Thursday morning from Abuja on a chartered Air Peace flight.

    They are expected to stay at Golden Tulip Hotel Kumasi City.

     

    Eighteen Super Eagles players had made it to camp as they hope to book their place in Qatar when they face Ghana in the playoffs holding on the 25th and 27th of March respectively.

     

    The latest arrivals were Leganes defender, Kenneth Omeruo, Jo Aribo, Calvin Bassey and Emmanuel Dennis who plays as a striker for Premier League side, Watford F.C.
