Football needs players like Pogba – Allegri

Juventus coach Max Allegri says he’s spoken to Paul Pogba since his appeal failed last week.

Pogba’s counter-analysis of his original doping test has confirmed he failed it. The Juve midfielder is now facing a battle over how long he will be suspended from playing.

After victory over Torino, Allegri spoke about the former Manchester United midfielder.

He said, “We spoke and messaged each other.

“I am very close to him on a human level. I am very sorry and I hope that everything will be resolved for the best. Football a need for players like him.”

Allegri, meanwhile, also talked up young defender Fede Gatti after his goal in the Derby della Mole. Gatti had out through his net last week.

The coach said, “For my part, there is trust in everyone. Gatti? He will still score more goals, he must remain calm, let’s not forget that he has only about thirty appearances in Serie A with Juventus. He’s young, he’s good and he’s growing.”

REVEALED: Rashford and Pogba rejected Man Utd captaincy

Marcus Rashford refused to take the Manchester United captaincy under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, it has been revealed.

Solskjaer admitted last week that two players had rejected the captaincy when offered, though refused to name them.

He told the Athletic: “Some weren’t as good as their own perception of themselves.

“I won’t name names but I was very disappointed when a couple turned down the chance to be captain.

“I was also disappointed when others said they wouldn’t play or train because they wanted to force their way out.”

And now a source tells The Sun: “Paul Pogba was offered it but said he wanted to leave the club so turned it down.

“Rashford was also asked to take the captaincy but he said he didn’t think he was ready for it.”

Drug test: I’m not giving up on Pogba – Danilo

Juventus captain Danilo admits he feels sorry for Paul Pogba.

The Juve midfielder has been provisionally suspended after testing positive for testosterone this past week.

Danilo told Il Corriere dello Sport: “I’m sorry for what is happening to Paul. I had seen him much more present, with the right mentality. I’ve always been close to him, many times I’ve invited him not to give up, to push and push further.

“I’m not giving up on him now… I must say that here at Juve I didn’t miss anything, after six months covid, then the management problems, now Paul’s troubles. I was hoping for a more straightforward season.”

Danilo also spoke of former teammate and now Union Berlin defender Leonardo Bonucci’s decision to take legal action against Juventus.

He stated, “I want the decision to stop to be mine and mine alone, I hope I can do it as much with the club as with the national team.

“I know that in football other factors can intervene, the unexpected, but I also know that I will do everything I can to be in full control of that moment, anticipating it.”

  • I didn’t get the love at Man Utd – Pogba

I didn’t get the love at Man Utd – Pogba

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba admits he did not get the love he wanted at the Premier League club, Manchester United.

The France international left United for the Serie A side for a second time in his career last summer.

He recalled to Views magazine: “When I left Manchester, I was young. And when you’re young, you want to prove something. I came to Juve, to a fairly young Italian club, it was a big test for me. But I immediately saw the love of the supporters.

“I saw the love of the club. I really liked how they worked and learned a lot. I went back to Manchester because I hadn’t finished my work there. I said to myself ‘I really want to play with the A’s [the first team]’. I did it and it was a goal achieved for me.

“We have already won, not the Premier League, but titles that Manchester have not won for a long time. And I came back to Juve, why? Because it’s really the club that helped me push myself.

“And really the love from the fans, the love from the club that I get, I didn’t get that in Manchester. I was quite surprised when I came back to England, already with the transfer I was given a label. It was quite sad.

“But it’s two clubs that I really love, that made me grow and I can only say thank you to these two clubs. Maybe I could have gone to other clubs, but it was my heart that chose those clubs and I often follow my heart.”

The discipline of Ronaldo was unbelievable – Pogba

Juventus midfielder, Paul Pogba has shared his experience with Cristiano Ronaldo during their time together at Manchester United.

The Frenchman and the Portuguese have had two stints with the Red Devils and have represented Juventus during the course of their careers.

But the France international only shared the pitch with Ronaldo last season and has a lot to say about the former Real Madrid man’s attitude to the game.

“The discipline of Ronaldo was unbelievable – I’ve never seen this. The discipline is on another level,” Pogba told
    Field of Sports.

“Someone that’s been there every single day and doesn’t stop – that’s Cristiano.

“Every day! Some days you’re like, I’m ok! But he doesn’t miss one day. His discipline to do it every single day – this is something.”

World Cup: Paul Pogba to miss Qatar 2022

France midfielder Paul Pogba will miss their FIFA World Cup title defence after failing to recover from knee surgery in time for the tournament in Qatar, his agent has said.

Pogba had an operation on a damaged meniscus in September but his agent Rafaela Pimenta said that, following a medical review, he would not be able to return to action for now.

He said Pogba would not be able to return to the Juventus squad or join up with France before the Nov. 20 to Dec. 18 World Cup.

“Following Sunday and Monday’s medical review in Torino and Pittsburgh, it is extremely painful to inform that Paul Pogba will still need recovery time from his surgery,” Pimenta said.

“For this reason, Paul will not be able to join the Juventus squad before the World Cup break nor the French national team in Qatar. If wishful thinking would change things, Paul would be playing tomorrow.”

The 29-year-old Pogba’s hopes of returning to action with Juve before the World Cup were shot down early in September.

That was when manager Massimiliano Allegri said the Italian club would realistically get him back only in January.

Pogba moved back to Juventus in the close season after his contract with Manchester United expired.

But he has yet to feature for the Serie A club after sustaining the knee injury during their pre-season tour.

Juventus released a statement saying “in (the) light of recent radiological examinations… (Pogba) needs to continue his rehabilitation programme.”

France had already lost Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, who was ruled out for four months after having an operation on a hamstring injury this month.

Pogba was one of France’s most influential players in their 2018 World Cup triumph, scoring in the final victory over Croatia as they won the title for the second time.

France, who are in Group D at this year’s World Cup, begin their campaign against Australia on Nov. 22 before playing Denmark and Tunisia.

Paul Pogba risks missing Qatar 2022

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba could face five months on the sidelines due to knee surgery and might be missing the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Pogba was diagnosed with the lesion of the lateral meniscus in his right knee after suffering a sprain in training in Los Angeles last week.

He was expected to have surgery in the United States, but flew back to Italy on Wednesday.

Pogba is now weighing up his options with Juve management with an eye on the World Cup with France.

La Gazzetta dello Sport says one option would be to remove a piece of the meniscus, which would keep Pogba out of action for 40-60 days.

The other option would be to suture the lesion, but that could require the player being side-lined for four to five months.

That might mean missing the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, which is played in November and December.

For the moment, Pogba is weighing up which road to go down, though has major concerns missing the World Cup.
