It’s a shame Pogba, Matic leaving Man Utd – Elanga

Manchester United attacker Anthony Elanga has reacted to the departure of midfield duo Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic from Old Trafford.

“I learned so much. Both on and off the field. When you play in a club like Manchester United, there is a lot of pressure every day, so you have to be strong mentally and handle it,” he told Expressen.

“They (teammates) have all been good to me.

“Many players. Those who are going to leave, like Matic, Pogba have helped me a lot, he is like a big brother to me. They have all been good to me, Victor (Lindelof) too, both here in the national team and in United. So there are many, I can not choose one.

Both Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic will leave United this summer and Elanga added: “It’s a shame, but that’s how life is, that’s how football goes. I wish them all the best.”

EPL: Manchester United confirm Paul Pogba exit

France midfielder Paul Pogba will leave Manchester United when his contract expires at the end of the month, the English Premier League (EPL) club announced on Wednesday.

The Old Trafford academy graduate joined Juventus as a free agent in 2012, only to return four years later for a then world-record fee of 105 million euros (113 million dollars).

But Pogba has had a topsy-turvy second spell with Manchester United and he will leave for nothing for a second time.

“The club can announce that Paul Pogba will leave Manchester United at the end of June, upon the expiry of his contract,” Manchester United said at the start of a lengthy send-off statement on the club website.

“Everyone at the club will like to congratulate Paul on his successful career, and thank him for his contributions to Manchester United.

“We wish him all the best for the next steps on a remarkable journey.”

Pogba scored 39 goals in 233 first-team appearances for Manchester United, who he first joined from French club Le Havre in 2009.

A key part of the triumphant FA Youth Cup side of 2011, the midfielder joined Juve the following year and enjoyed a medal-laden time in Turin.

Pogba returned to Old Trafford in 2016 but struggled to live up to the billing.

The League Cup and Europa League in his first campaign back at Manchester United have proved to be his only silverware.

The 29-year-old –– a FIFA World Cup winner with France in 2018 —- has been linked in the media with a return to Juventus.

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Manchester City are other clubs to have been linked with him in recent months.

Pogba won’t return to Juve, he’s afraid of me – Allegri

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has joked about Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba’s return to Turin.

Pogba is in Bosman talks with Juve about a summer move.

“He won’t be back, he is afraid of challenging me,” Allegri said, laughing.

The coach was referring to a famous basketball shooting challenge held during Pogba’s previous time at Juve.

Pogba had also challenged Allegri to a football shooting challenge in which the coach also emerged as victorious.

“He lost playing with foot and hands. That’s why he left. That’s the real reason why he left,” the coach added.

I get inspiration from Pogba and Thiago – Lazio midfielder

Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic admits there’s two players he currently follows.

Milinkovic-Savic says he’s been happy with his form this season.

He told DAZN: “For some years now, the statistics say, I play a little better. If I feel undervalued? I don’t think about this, when I finish the game if I have time I see it again and then I decide if I did well or not, I am honest with myself.

“In the movements without the ball I have grown a lot over the years. Little by little I have worked and this year you can see the results.”

SMS continued: “The use of the sole came to me because I couldn’t shoot with the right foot, I said I shoot with the left and let’s see what happens. I like to use it because it takes away a touch, it depends on how the ball arrives but I always try to catch it with the sole.

“With shorter players, I struggle more because I have to lower myself too.

“Who do I get my inspiration from? I always look at Thiago from Liverpool. I developed some body movements thanks to futsal, a sport I practiced as a child.

“I similar to Pogba? I learned a lot from him at the beginning when I arrived in Italy and he was at Juventus. He is tall like me, he has technique and he already made a difference. Me in five years? I don’t think so much about the future, I look day by day and I don’t think too much about things.

“Ballon d’Or? Of course I’d like to.”

UPDATED: Football super agent, Mino Raiola is not dead

Football super-agent, Mino Raiola is ‘critically ill’ in a Milan hospital, he’s not dead as earlier reported.

Raiola was hospitalised on Thursday and widespread reports in Italy claimed he had died, but Alberto Zangrillo, head of the Intensive Care Unit at San Raffaele Hospital, told Italian news agency ANSA: “I am outraged by phone calls from so-called journalists speculating on the life of a man who is fighting.”

The Italian, who also manages the likes of Gianluigi Donnarumma, Marco Verratti and Matthijs de Ligt, has been behind some of football’s biggest transfers in recent years, including Pogba’s return to Manchester United in 2016 for a then world-record £93m.

A tweet from Raiola’s account on Thursday read: “Current health status for the ones wondering: p****d off second time in 4 months they kill me. Seem also able to ressuscitate.”

  • Pogba a big disappointment, never learned to be a footballer – Scholes

Pogba a big disappointment, never learned to be a footballer – Scholes

Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes has tagged Paul Pogba’s time at Old Trafford as a “big disappointment”.

The 29-year-old seems to be on his last legs at the club, as he is expected to leave once his contract expires at the end of the season.

Asked about Pogba’s imminent departure, Scholes told talkSport: “I was there when he was a kid and this lad has got absolutely everything you would want in a footballer and a midfield player.

“His physique, he can run. I just don’t think he’s ever learned as a footballer, he constantly seems to make the same mistakes over and over again.

“It’s disappointing, it looks like he’s going to leave. He’ll go somewhere, a manager will get a grip of him, and I think he’ll do really well, as he did at Juventus.

“For some reason, at Man United, it hasn’t worked out. It’s a big disappointment. You see what he does with France.”

Scholes though still believes Pogba has the talent to become ‘world class’.

He said: “People see him the wrong way. He’s a nice lad, he wants to work and learn. I hope he goes on and does really well. We all know he’s got the ability and talent to be world class.”

Why I perform better for France than Man Utd – Pogba

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has stated his reasons why he performs better while playing for France.

The 29-year-old insists stability has been the key.

He told Le Figaro: “It’s simple with France, I play and I play in my position – I know my role and I feel the confidence of the coach and the players,’ he said.

“It’s normal to feel a difference at Manchester United because it’s hard to be consistent when you often have a change to your position, or the team system, or your partners.

“I get along very well with [France boss Didier Deschamps], he gave me a role that I know, but at Manchester United do I really have a role? I ask the question but I don’t have an answer.”

Former Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka can see Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba moving to PSG.

Off contract in June, the Frenchman has suspended talks over a new deal with United until later in the season.

Anelka told RMC: “If he wants to come to Paris?

“I discussed it with him six months ago and he would not mind coming to PSG.

“If he arrives, we will forget all his injuries and see that he is a top player.”

  • Pogba must play at his best before contract expires – Rangnick

Pogba must play at his best before contract expires – Rangnick

Manchester United caretaker boss Ralf Rangnick says there’s been no talk regarding Paul Pogba’s expiring contract.

Pogba is set to play his first game since November tonight in the FA Cup against Middlesbrough.

“I’m happy to have him back in the squad as I said he might be playing from the start tomorrow,” Rangnick said.

“His contract is expiring in the summer and if, in the end, he would like to stay or go somewhere else he has to show up. It’s not only in the interest of us as a club, but it’s in his personal interest that he plays and performs at the highest possible level in the next couple of weeks.

“We haven’t spoken about that (his future) at all so far, not only about Paul’s situation but also other players with contracts expiring in the summer, we also didn’t speak about new players so far.

“My focus now is to play the best possible season we can, to be as successful as we can be and for Paul, it is in his own interest to play on a high level to have a good performance tomorrow and do everything to get into the first XI – that will not automatically happen because we have other good players in that area.”
