Scholes to board: Keep Pogba at Man Utd on one condition

Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes, has given the club one condition to keep midfielder, Paul Pogba, at Old Trafford beyond next summer.

Pogba’s current contract with Man United will expire next summer.

The France international is yet to sign a new deal with Man United.

And Scholes believes Man United should offer Pogba a new long-term deal if he can show the form for his club that he does with his country’s national team.

“Everybody is a little bit unsure because he doesn’t do it week in and week out,” Scholes told the Webby and O’Neil Show.

“I think there is a big debate. You would probably say half of the people want him, the other half would not be that bothered if he went.

“I think the middle of the pitch is a little bit of a problem for us. If he is on song and plays to his ability like he does for France every time he seems to play for them then you have got to try and keep him.”

Varane reveals new nickname given by Pogba

Manchester United defender Raphael Varane has revealed that his teammate Paul Pogba has given him a new nickname.

Varane joined United from Real Madrid in the summer, after spending most of his career with Los Blancos.

The towering centre-back, who was in the team for their 2-1 Champions League group stage win over Villarreal on Wednesday night, mentioned the nickname given to him by Pogba pre-game.

“Yes, it’s true [the nickname of Champions League Varane],” Varane told BT Sport.

“Sometimes some fans call me Varane Champions League, so it’s funny.

“I like this competition, I know it’s difficult to win the Champions League, but every time, it is a big, big challenge.

“You know you have to suffer, you know you have to play games [that are] very difficult, the pace is always very intense, so you have to be focused for 90 minutes.

“The most important thing is you have to believe, you have to believe when it’s hard, you have to fight, you have to believe you can do it.”

Pogba can be Man Utd bad egg – Anderton

Former England midfielder Darren Anderton has questioned Manchester United’s desire to keep hold of Paul Pogba.

Pogba has arguably been United’s player of the season so far with seven assists in his first four Premier League appearances but former Spurs midfielder Anderton admits he still has concerns about the Frenchman.

“There have been times where I’ve been a bit worried,” Anderton told My Betting Sites. “How do you get the best out of someone like Paul Pogba?

“He’s now saying he wants to stay and he’s such a top player but also, he can be a bad egg within a football club.

“If you can get him on the right side, then he’s going to be a positive influence and that’s where he is now.”

Paul Pogba could join Juventus – Raiola

Super agent Mino Raiola has talked up a return to Juventus for Paul Pogba as his client’s Manchester United contract runs down.

The France international’s contract with the Red Devils is set to expire in the summer.

According to Raiola, the World Cup winner is open to the idea of returning to the Allianz Stadium.

He said: “Paul Pogba is out of contract in June, so we’ll talk with Man Utd and we’ll see what happens. Juventus?

    “Paul still loves Turin.

“There’s a chance that Pogba will return to Juventus, yes – but it also depends on Juventus plans.”

Pogba, 28, left Juve in the summer of 2016 to re-join United in a then world-record £89.3 million deal.

I don’t pay attention to Pogba assists – Solskjaer

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has claimed that he is uninterested in how many assists Paul Pogba has delivered for the Red Devils this season.

TheNewsGuru reports that, Pogba already have seven assists in his first four games, and is already a third of the way to the all-time Premier League season record of 20 held by Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry.

“Paul has come back in good shape,” Solskjaer told a pre-match press briefing ahead of his side’s trip to Young Boys. “He’s worked really hard over the summer. He’s come back lean and fit.

“What does an assist consist of? A square pass to Bruno [Fernandes] and he puts it in the top corner? Or a great ball for Mason [Greenwood]?

“Paul has always been a great passer and he’s not got assists from his best passes this season. I don’t pay attention to assists, it’s a social media thing. But Paul has played well for sure.”

PSG fans tell Pogba: We don’t want you here

Paris Saint-Germian fans are protesting against the prospect of signing Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

The Daily Mail says one set of fans have hung banners outside the Parc des Princes and PSG’s training ground to protest against his potential signing.

The banners, which appeared on Saturday morning, read: “Pogba, you should listen to your mother. She doesn’t want you here, neither do we”.

Nobody has claimed responsibility for the protest banners as yet, reports RMC Sport.

It’s not entirely clear what has caused the animosity from PSG fans towards Pogba, though the midfielder didn’t hold back in his celebrations when United won their Champions League last-16 tie in 2019.

Pogba was suspended for the second leg at the Parc des Princes and watched United’s dramatic late win from the stands but then came down to the pitch to celebrate wildly with his team-mates.

Pogba rejects new contract offer from Man Utd

Paul Pogba has rejected a new contract offer from Manchester United.

The Mirror says Pogba’s unwillingness to sign a new deal has forced United to look at selling their club record £89million signing – or risk losing him for nothing next summer.

Paris St Germain are ready to pay £45m for Pogba, who has one year left on his current United contract, but has turned down the offer of a £350,000-a-week deal.

United wanted to tie Pogba, 28, down to a new long-term deal and were prepared to offer him a huge pay hike on his existing £250,000-a-week deal.

But the France World Cup winner and his agent, Mino Raiola, have snubbed the offer in a bid to force through the move to PSG and a new challenge elsewhere.

Arsenal youngster Saka missed the decisive penalty in England’s shootout lost to Italy in the Euro 2020 final.

It came after Rashford and Sancho also failed to convert from the spot.

Pogba posted to social media: “Sometimes football can be cruel… cruel and also beautiful.

“Yesterday, the game brought us sadness but happiness to our opponents. That’s the beauty of football.

  • Drama as Rabiot’s mum clashes with families of Mbappe and Pogba

Drama as Rabiot’s mum clashes with families of Mbappe and Pogba

The mother of Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot has hit out at France teammates Kylian Mbappe and Paul Pogba.

Veronique Rabiot was reportedly involved in a heated exchange with the family members of her son’s team-mates in the aftermath of their Euro 2020 defeat by Switzerland.

RMC says the mother and agent of the Juventus star asked Pogba’s family how he could have lost possession in midfield before the Swiss team countered and found the back of the net.

Her fury continued after the penalty shootout and she then is said to have asked Mbappe’s father to ‘reframe his son and make him less arrogant’.

She also reportedly ‘attacked’ members of the press covering the game and took aim at some of their attitudes towards the Paris Saint-Germain forward.

It is then claimed there was a ‘heated exchange’ between Veronique Rabiot and Mbappe’s mother, Fayza Lamari, as well as his father.

The families of other French stars were said to be ‘shocked’ by Veronique Rabiot’s outburst and the timing of it, given they had just watched their relatives crash out of the tournament.
