    BREAKING: Unknown gunmen again raze police station, kill 2 officers in Anambra

    Police in Anambra have confirmed the killing of two of its personnel by unknown gunmen who attacked and razed the Divisional Police Station in Obosi, Idemili North of the state.

    It was gathered that the attackers had after burning down the station, moved to the quarters where they killed the two personnel in the early hours of Thursday.

    DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, confirmed the attack on Thursday.

    Ikenga said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Chris Owolabi had dispatched a tactical team for on-the-spot assessment of the incident.

    “The tactical team led by an Assistant Commissioner of Police was directed to have an on-the-spot assessment of the place.

    “The team was equally told to possibly identify and apprehend the hoodlums that perpetrated the attack,” he said.

    Ikenga said that the bodies of the two policemen had been deposited at a nearby morgue, adding that investigation into the matter had began.

    The Obosi police attack was the first of such incident since Owolabi took over from the immediate past CP, Mr Monday Kuryas.

    Gunmen attack police station in Akwa Ibom, kill two officers, burn five patrol vehicles

    Gunmen suspected to be members of Eastern Security Network (ESN) on Saturday killed no fewer than two policemen in Akwa Ibom.

    It was gathered the hoodlums, who invaded Ikono Police Divisional Headquarters at Ibiaku Ntok Okpo around 3 am, burnt down five police vehicles and also injured a policewoman on night duty.

    Police spokesperson, SP Odiko MacDon and Chief Press Secretary to Chairman of Ikono Local Government Area, Mr Nsisong Ntuk, confirmed the incident.

    Ntuk, in a statement, said the hoodlums even hoisted their flag at the police station.

    He said the chairman has been taking great measures to ensure normalcy was restored to the area and other parts of the LGA.

    He said: “Today, Saturday 1st May 2021, the Executive Chairman of Ikono Local Government Area received a distress call about the invasion of the Police Station at Ibiaku Ntok Okpo by criminals alleged to be members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) by 3 am.

    “In the ensuing melee two police officers were killed, five vehicles burnt, and a policewoman on night duty was critically injured, the flag hoisted at the police station stolen and destructive acts carried out by the invaders.”

    He assured the chairman, in collaboration with relevant security agencies, was working assiduously to ensure the situation was contained and necessary measures put in place to forestall further reoccurrences.

    Gunmen raze another police station in Imo State, kill five officers

    Gunmen have attacked another police station in Ehime Mbano, Okigwe South Local Government Area of Imo State, killing five officers while one officer is said to be missing.

    The armed bandits also razed the police building.

    The spokesman of the Imo State Police Command, Orlando Ikeokwu, confirmed the incident on Monday.

    TheNewsGuru.com, TNG reports that the attack coming barely two days after gunmen invaded the country home of the state governor, Hope Uzodinma in Omuma, Oru East Local Government Area of the state.

    During the attack, they burnt part of the building and razed some vehicles in the compound, killing at least a security official.

    According to the Commissioner of Information in the state, Declan Emelumba, the attack was repelled by a combined team of security operatives attached to the house.

    Although some eyewitnesses had blamed the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), the outlawed group however denied carrying out the attack.

    “Gallant security operatives this morning repelled an attack on the Omuma country home of the governor of Imo State, Sen Hope Uzodimma,” he said via a statement.

    Imo State has been experiencing series of attacks lately, especially on security formations.

    On April 5, armed men invaded the headquarters of the Imo State Police Command and the Nigerian Correctional Service in Owerri, burnt the facilities and freed over 1,800 inmates.

    Unfortunately, one person suspected to be a fleeing prison inmate was hit by a stray bullet.

    But Governor Uzodinma has repeatedly accused some politicians of funding banditry to run down the present administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) both at the state and federal levels.

    Speaking after meeting President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, he condemned the recent attacks by armed bandits on communities and challenged the security agencies to urgently reveal the names of their sponsors.

    He also condemned the call for secession, stressing that criminals particularly in Imo were a combination of individuals within and outside the state.

    BREAKING: Unknown gunmen invade Enugu police station, kill officers

    Unknown gunmen have allegedly attacked the Divisional Police Headquarters, Adani in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State.

    The attack was said to have happened in the early hours of Wednesday.

    Two of the police officers on duty were reportedly murdered and several others injured, while the police station was burnt.

    Sources confirmed that the attack on the police station started at about 2:30am and lasted for about one hour.

    TheNewsGuru reports that in recent weeks, Police stations in the South East and some states in the South-South have been attacked by gunmen.

    BREAKING: Hoodlums raze Anambra Police zonal headquarters

    Suspected hoodlums have razed Zone 13 Police headquarters in Ukpo, Anambra state.

    TheNewsGuru gathered that no fewer than two policemen have died during the attack.

    Not less than four vehicles have also been burnt while fire fighters have arrived to put out the inferno.

    The development has increased tension across the State.

    On Sunday night, three persons were allegedly killed in Awka, Anambra State, including a fitness instructor

    The incident happened at Ifite, Awka South local government area, while the other person was killed at Unizik junction.

    The attack comes amid the increasing security incidents in Anambra whose governorship election scheduled for November 6 is fast approaching.

    Willie Obiano, the state governor, recently lamented over the worsening security situation, saying the state was under siege by criminals.

    “I call on everybody, irrespective of affiliations to come together and support government and security agencies to fight our common enemy. Those who seek to destroy what we have laboured to build must not be tolerated in any manner,” Obiano had said.

    Gunmen raze another police station in Imo, free inmates hours after jailbreak in Owerri

    Imo State appears to be top on the list of troubled states in the country at the moment following a fresh attack on a police station barely a day after the massive attacks on a correctional facility and adjoining police command in Owerri, the state capital.

    According to reports a group of armed men invaded another police facility in the state on Tuesday.

    The latest attack was carried out on the Divisional Police Headquarters in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area – just about an hour-and-a-half drive from the state capital.

    Sources said the gunmen, who came in buses and in a large number, arrived at the police station and freed all the suspects in detention before setting the building ablaze.

    Police authorities in the state confirmed the incident although they insisted that the armoury at the station was intact.

    “Ehime Mbano (Police) Division has just been attacked, no casualty on the part of the police, no loss of arms, three vehicles burnt,” Orlando Ikeokwu who is the Police Public Relations Officer said.

    On Monday, gunmen attacked the Police Command Headquarters in the state where they burnt almost all the vehicles parked there.

    The attack, carried out in the early hours of Monday, happened at a time when gunmen also invaded the Owerri Custodial Centre, freeing hundreds of inmates serving various jail terms.

    Authorities of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) put the figure of inmates who fled the correctional facility at 1,844.

    They, however, noted that six of the fleeing inmates voluntarily returned to the facility while 35 others refused to escape from custody.

    The incident was condemned by the Federal Government and the state government, as well as various individuals and groups in the country.

    Mr Mohammed Adamu, who was the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) at the time of the attacks, ordered the immediate deployment of additional units of Police Mobile Force (PMF) and other police tactical squads to Imo.

    He stated that this was important to strengthen security in the state and prevent further attacks on security formations or any other critical national infrastructure in the state.

    The former police chief had also directed the Commissioner of Police in Imo and a new Special Investigation Team to carry out holistic investigations into the incident, with a view to arresting and bringing the perpetrators of the attacks to justice.

    A day after the incident, the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, as well as the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, and Adamu visited Imo for an on-the-spot assessment of the attacked facilities.

    But the attack on the police station in Ehime Mbano is said to have occurred barely three hours after the vice president, the minister, and the former police chief left the state.

    Armed robbers attack bank, police station in Delta State, kill three

    There was tension in Issele-Uku community in Aniocha South local government area of Delta State on Tuesday after a deadly attack by armed robbers.

    According to reports, the gunmen attacked a commercial bank shooting sporadically before breaking into the facility with dynamites.

    They were said to have had access to the bank’s vault, fleeing with yet to be confirmed amount of money.

    However, their catch was said to be in millions of Naira.

    An eyewitness said the gunmen also attacked a nearby police station where three persons were shot dead.

    Police kill four, arrest eight over attack on Abia police station

    The Police Command in Abia has killed four suspects and arrested eight others over the attack on the Abayi Police Station in the early hours of Tuesday in Abia.
    The Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Mr Frank Mba, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.
    He said the command has also recovered arms and ammunition from the hoodlums, suspected to have carried out the unprovoked attack on the Police Station.
    Mba said the suspected attackers, numbering about 200, armed with AK47 rifles and matchetes, invaded the station and set part of it ablaze with the aid of petrol bombs and other explosives.
    He said the attack led to the death of two officers, Mr Vincent Gonze, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, and Mr Emmanuel Okoronkwo, a Sergeant.
    Mba said the Inspector General of Police (I-G), Mr Mohammed Adamu, has commiserated with the family and friends of the deceased officers.
    He said the I-G had warned that dire consequences await any person or group of persons who, under whatever guise, engages in an unwarranted attack on any public property.
    He said all Commissioners of Police (CPs) in the various commands had been directed to employ all legally permissible measures to protect lives and property.
    Mba said investigations are ongoing and added that perpetrators of the unwholesome incident would be prosecuted in due course.
    He called on proprietors of medical facilities in and around Abia to report any person(s) found seeking medical treatment as a result of bullet wounds and other related injuries to the nearest police station.

    Hoodlums on Tuesday, attacked and burnt the Abayi Osisioma Ngwa divisional police station in Abia State.
    According to reports, it was gathered that the hoodlums killed an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and a police Corporal during the attack.The attack took place at 2:30 am on Tuesday when the hoodlums took the police unaware, attacked the station and made away with arms.A police source, who spoke to our reporter anonymously, said that the situation has created more tension in the city, as police officers are now working in fear.

    It was gathered that the Police have restricted movements around the burnt police station which is causing so much tension around the housing estate.

    As it the time this report was filed, the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, is yet to react on the incident.

    Gunmen, Tuesday, attacked the Omoba Police Station in Isiala Ngwa South council area, Abia State and killed a policeman.

    According to reports the attack happened at the early hours of Tuesday at the station located along the Umuene – Omoba road.

    The gunmen, operating on motorcycles, were said to have opened fire on approaching the station as policemen on guard repelled the attack.

    It was alleged that the gunmen overpowered the police and gained access to the station and looted the arms and ammunition stored in the armoury.

    Police Public Relations Officer, Abia State Command, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, who confirmed the incident, told journalists that no arrest has been made.
