    Deadly disease turns popular Nollywood actor to ‘beggar’

    Popular Nollywood actress, Biola Adebayo has appeal for financial support on behalf of her colleague Don Richard who’s currently battling with kidney disease.

    TheNewsGuru reports that the film star made the plea in a video shared on Tuesday evening via Biola Adebayo’s Instagram.

    Speaking in the video, Richard disclosed that he has sold his house and car to cover his medical expenses.

    He said, “When my wife was told about my health, she started crying. And I told her that ‘another man is a lucky man.’ I begged her to take good care of my children (twins).

    “Immediately she left the hospital, she went to dispose of our house and car for my treatment. I have nothing left anymore.”

    Sharing his account details, Biola Bayo wrote, “Don Richard has been down with a kidney in a while.”

    Nollywood actor cum content creator, Odira Nwobu has recounted a deadly accident he was involved in while traveling  from Lagos to Enugu.

    TheNewsGuru recalls that Nwobu was involved in the tragic accident last month after accepting an invitation from a real estate company to shoot promotional content in Enugu.

    Though the company offered to book his flight and allow him to bring a friend or two, his companions insisted on joining him for the trip.

    Recounting the incident, Nwobu recounted the events leading to the crash that claimed the life of his close friend.

    The actor revealed that shortly after their journey began, he developed a persistent cough: a recurring issue for him during early morning travels. He said the group made a stop for coffee, and he switched seats to sit in the front.

    He said disaster struck when the driver attempted to overtake a long trailer on a bridge.

    He said he witnessed friends with broken limbs and head injuries, while the driver repeatedly lost consciousness.

    He said: “I got a very important invitation. A project that can bring up the status of my friends and me. I was meant to go to Enugu for an advertisement for a real estate company. I saw it as a stepping stone for my career and my friends.

    “I am making this video so that you know exactly what happened and how God saved everybody’s life, except one.

    “So, my friends told me that they want to join me. At the very least, even if I cannot or they cannot afford the flight for them, let them enter Motu and come to Enugu. However, since they are my friends, and some of them have mentioned that they want to go to the East, at least to have some fun and return.

    “Just the five of us. On that fateful day, we came. On the way, I started to feel a cough.

    “While travelling, I woke up very early in the morning, and such a thing happened to me. So, we stopped somewhere and took a coffee. My friends, everybody stopped. Both the driver took a coffee. So, I decided to stay in the front of the seat because my friend had been sitting there before.

    “I woke up and I saw my friends had woken up. I was wearing a seat belt. The thing nearly affected my wrist and my spinal cord because I was bending down like this on the car. The thing just bent me so hard.”

    Popular Nollywood actor escapes death, hospitalised

    Nollywood actor, Odira Nwobu has been involved in a ghastly car accident in Lagos, TheNewsGuru learnt.

    Reports indicate that several individuals lost their lives in a road accident that occurred on the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway on Thursday, January 26, 2025.

    Sources reveal that Nwobu was rushed to the hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. He was reportedly on his way to a location for a shoot when the unfortunate incident occurred.

    Meanwhile, about ten people on Tuesday reportedly lost their lives in a road accident that occurred in Ibadan, Oyo State.

    The incident occurred around the Soka area at the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway. It was learnt that about ten people have reportedly lost their lives.

    According to a live report monitored on Tuesday morning on a popular radio station, Lagelu 96.7 FM, by PMParrot, the road mishap…

    It was gathered that the accident involved three Nissan Micra taxi cabs and three articulated vehicles.

    Sources said that all the vehicles involved in the accident were coming from Iwo Road when the incident occurred.

    Popular Nollywood actor hospitalised after brutal kick by Zubby Michael on set

    Godwin Nnadiekwe, a Nollywood actor has been hospitalised with internal bleeding following an unexpected kick to his chest by fellow actor Zubby Michael during a movie shoot. 

    The actor’s management on Saturday issues an official statement, announcing that the actor was admitted to the hospital after the unintended incident.

    “We regret to inform you that Actor Godwin Nnadiekwe was rushed to the hospital this evening. He is undergoing treatment for internal bleeding following an incident involving a kick on the chest during filming with his colleague Zubby Michael.

    “We are committed to providing the best possible care and will ensure timely updates are shared with the public and the AGN board. We appreciate your concern and well wishes for Godwin at this time. Keep Godwin in your thoughts,” the statement read.

    This is coming shortly after  Nnadiekwe via his Instagram to recounted the same incident, which he said occurred during a scene that did not require physical contact.

    Nnadiekwe disclosed that the filmmaker neither scripted nor directed the kick he received.

    “This isn’t to call anyone out, but it’s a serious reminder that we need to prioritise each other’s safety on set,” he wrote in the Friday post.

    “It’s caused me serious pains. Had to get medication for my chest to feel better today. I did all these by myself. No assistance!”

    The actor expressed disappointment over lack of immediate medical support or safety measures on set, stressing the urgent need for structured insurance policies, first aid availability, and respect for directorial instructions in Nollywood productions.

    “When we’re working without insurance policies or readily available first aid, unexpected physical actions like this, even if accidental, can have real consequences,” he said.

    He expressed that all physical scenes must be intentional, rehearsed, and supervised to avoid life-threatening outcomes.

    “What if something more serious had happened? Or this went south?”

    In a post shared via his Instagram story, the media personality hailed Zubby while drawing a comparison between Elizabeth and Mary.

    He highlighted the need for humility in identifying God’s work in others.

    He wrote, “Zubby Michael is the biggest Nollywood star. But like Elizabeth, I know what Mary is carrying. God’s expression resounds in different decibels. It takes ONLY humility to submit in praise to God. Keep riding my broda. I see you.”

    A scene of Popular Nollywood actor, Yemi Solade in a intimate act with co-star Sanusi Izihaq popularly known as Apa has sparked  strong reactions amongst fans on social media. 

    TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) reports that the veteran actor in a bid to promote a new movie titled 5Alive, became the center of controversy after an intimate scene that portrayed the veteran and his co-star, Apa as lovers surfaced online.

    In the video that was shared, Yemi could be seen displaying affection—pecking Apa on the cheek and holding him in a tight embrace.

    Many of the actor’s fans in reaction to the video, accused the actors of attempting to normalize homosexuality as the movie isn’t like what conservative Nollywood industry protrays.

    One particular critic, known simply as Dunni launched a personal attack on Yemi, writing in Yoruba, “Mo sorry but ara yin o ya,” which translates to, “I’m sorry, but you are not okay.”

    Another critic, murphywonder wrote: ”Imagine DENZEL Washington playing a Gay scene 😂 protect ur legacy. Am sure Taiwo ogogo would not take this ROLE SMH.”

    mrs.morixn wrote: ”Nooooooooo! 😭😭😭 so this old man go deny say ein no be gay after this movie? Haha 🤣(sorry for the laugh).”

    Yemi wrote: ”I swear the movie Na Nonsense. I no fit even finish am @apankufor1 why you take that roll @salamirotimi you self fall my hand I no fit watch that movie as I like Una to reach .The last time a fellow guy tried giving me a peck…. mo da igbaju bo weere.”

    A fan of the actor, kelvin_edum, unlike the others said, ”I said it. A day will come when Nigerians will finally accept people for who and what they stand for.”

    Reacting to the criticisms, the veteran responded saying, Yoruba, “Orí bàbá ẹ to wà ní ọgbà wèrè lo ń bá wí,” meaning, “It’s your father’s head in the asylum you are talking to.”

    5Alive was released on YouTube on November 14, 2024.

    The film features a diverse cast, including Allwell Adaramola, Rotimi Salami, Yetunde Odunsi, Jumoke Salam and Victoria Adeboye.

    Popular Nollywood actor, Francis Duru has announced the death of his second son, Ifeanyi

    TheNewGuru.com (TNG) reports that the veteran actor via Instagram on Thursday morning shared a photo of the deceased son, saying he will forever love him.

    Although, he did not disclose what led to the boy’s death, he, however, noted that his late son fought like a lion.

    He wrote: “My champ!! my lion…you fought like a lion…if this is the way He wants it, so be it, I still judge you faithful…Ifeanyi my champ….I will miss you son….I will forever love you….Rest in peace son…rest….I give you thanks lord!.”
