Kebbi Gov, Bagudu calls for prayers to fight insecurity
Gov. Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State has urged Nigerians to repent and intensify prayers to end the lingering insecurity bedevelling the nation.
Bagudu made the appeal at a Walima (Dinner) organised to celebrate “Kebbi @ 31”, held at the Presidential Lodge, Birnin Kebbi on Saturday.
The Walima, which was organised by the Kebbi State Government, drew Ulamas (Islamic clerics) from different Islamic sects to preach and offer special prayers for restoration of peace across Nigeria.
Bagudu, who was represented by Alhaji Babale Umar-Yauri, the Secretary to Kebbi State Government (SSG), said the state decided to celebrate the 31st anniversary in a different way.
“We decided to invite Ulamas to preach to us, remind us about Almighty God and pray for peace to reign across Nigeria,” he said.
The governor lamented that banditry, rape and kidnapping were alien vices infiltrated into Nigeria, assuring that with prayers, they will soon be a thing of the past.
He observed that the herculean task leaders faced was something people should pity them for, hence the need for people to understand that the work “is not as easy as one thinks”.
While appreciating the Ulamas for their contribution to the success of the state, Bagudu also appealed to them to sustain the tempo.
Earlier, several Ulamas who preached at the Walima, reminded people as well as leaders of the need to be mindful of their responsibilities.
The Ulamas included Sheikh Abbas Muhammad-Jega, who was represented by Sheikh Usman Adam-Jega; Sheikh Umar Malisa, represented by Sheikh Tijjani Muhammad; Sheikh Basiru Musa and Sheikh Abdur-Rahman Isa-Jega.
Taking their texts from the Quar’an and Hadith, the clerics enumerated some qualities of a leader to include humility, humbleness, consultation before taking decision, leniency, fairness and justice.
The clerics stressed the need for followers to be obedient and respect all constituted authorities to enable leaders discharge their responsibitues diligently.

Avoiding generational curses [2] – By Femi Aribisala
“Heavenly Father, annul every ancestral covenant of death operating in my life in Jesus’ Name”.
Sickness is a curse of the law arising from the sin of disobedience. God says: “If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.” (Exodus 15:26).
Death is also a curse. God told Adam: “Of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” (Genesis 2:22).
In Deuteronomy 28:15-68, God pronounced 112 curses on those who disobey the Law. These range from poverty and enslavement, to deprivation, backwardness, indebtedness, barrenness, and compulsive immorality.
Some believe we have been redeemed from these curses. Paul says: “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law.” (Galatians 3:13). He says: “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made (us) free from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8:1-2).
However, these redemptive principles are only of automatic spiritual application. Since we are still in the flesh, they continue to apply until broken. Jesus our redeemer Himself tells us some things affecting us will not go: “except by prayer and fasting.” (Matthew 17:21). So, in many situations, we have to pray like Jeremiah: “We acknowledge, O Lord, our wickedness and the iniquity of our fathers, for we have sinned against You.” (Jeremiah 14:20).
Generational blessings
Generational curses remain because generational blessings continue to apply, and they are the bedrock of our redemption in Christ. Paul says: “As in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.” (1 Corinthians 15:22). He says furthermore:
“As through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.” (Romans 5:18-19).
When Jesus inaugurated His ministry, He read a passage from Isaiah. The original scripture says:
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; he has sent Me to heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”
“And they shall rebuild the old ruins, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the ruined cities, the desolations of many generations.” (Isaiah 61:1-4).
Two people are involved in this scripture: the Lord and the believer.
The Lord performs verses 1-3 that Jesus repeats at his inaugural. But verse 4 is the believer’s responsibility. It is our responsibility to rebuild the old ruins, to raise up the former desolations, and to repair the ruined cities.
Co-labourers with God
God can do without man. But He never acts without man. He says in Ezekiel: “I sought for a man among them who would make a wall and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land.” (Ezekiel 22:30).
The psalmist notes that: “The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s; but the earth He has given to the children of men.” (Psalm 115:16). Because He has given the earth to men, God does not interfere on earth except by man’s invitation. Therefore, in order to redeem man from sin, God in Christ became a man and came down to earth.
For this reason, we are co-labourers together with God in all things. (1 Corinthians 3:9). We pray and God answers. We invite God and He intervenes. Thus, Paul says: “Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.” (Philippians 2:12-13).
Since the same Paul insists salvation is by grace through faith and not of works, how then can we be asked to work out our own salvation? The answer is simple. We must work out what God has worked in. Similarly, we must stir up the gift of God that is in us. (2 Timothy 1:6). In all situations, we cannot say Christ has done it all. There is still work for us to do.
After we receive Christ, we still have to repent of sin. Yes, we are forgiven, but forgiveness produces repentance and not vice-versa. The scripture says: “The goodness of God leads you to repentance.” (Romans 2:4).
Likewise, salvation leads to deliverance. While we are still in the flesh, salvation does not prevent us from sinning. Salvation breaks the power of sin in our lives, ensuring we are no longer slaves of sin. It then becomes our responsibility to seek actively the help of the Holy Spirit, so that we actually stop sinning.
Deliverance
In this life, children sometimes suffer for the sins of their father. But even though sin can thereby be passed down through the generations, each person is responsible for his or her personal sins against the Lord. The final judgment on the last day is according to our individual works.
However, generational curses apply in this life and must be broken prayerfully. Examples of these abound in scripture:
“O Lord, according to all Your righteousness, I pray, let Your anger and Your fury be turned away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain; because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people are a reproach to all those around us.” (Daniel 9:16).
“Do not hold against us the sins of the fathers; may your mercy come quickly to meet us, for we are in desperate need. Help us, O God our Saviour, for the glory of your name; deliver us and forgive our sins for your name’s sake.” (Psalm 79:8-9).
Prayers
Dear heavenly Father, please dismantle and remove any impediment from my father’s or my mother’s house that is preventing me to walk on my high places in Jesus’ Name.
Please annul any covenant of death entered into by my parents and grandparents in Jesus’ Name.
Remove every embargo on my life, finances, and advancement placed wittingly or unwittingly by my forefathers in Jesus’ Name.
Please break every curse operating in me and mine arising from my father’s or mother’s house in Jesus’ Name.
Please break every satanic chain of brass and every bar of iron that has been used to impede me and drag me back in life in Jesus’ Name.
Amen and Amen!

Easter: We must all put our nation first in our prayers, says Saraki
Former President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, in his Easter greetings to Nigerians said we must all put our nation first in our prayers.
The former Kwara State Governor’s and his family congratulated Christians across the nation as they celebrate Easter.
This was contained in a statement issued by his Media Office in Abuja, Saraki, who is also a former Governor of Kwara State, stated that this year’s Easter celebration, which also coincides with the Holy Month of Ramadan, was a critical intersection of Nigeria’s two major religions.
He said:
“As families across Nigeria and the world settle in to celebrate the significance of Easter, which commemorates the ascension of Jesus in the Christian faith, Toyin, the children, and I wish all those who are celebrating a very Happy Easter.
“Today, we find ourselves in a critical intersection of our faiths. As our Christian brothers and sisters celebrate Easter, we, the Muslim Ummah, are still observing the Holy Month of Ramadan.
However, we must all come together. Let us pray to the Almighty God for the peace, unity, and development of our nation; the protection of the lives and property of all Nigerians; and for the future of Nigeria.
“Let us all remember that though we are of different faiths and religious practices, as Nigerians, we share common values and collective national aspirations. We all want our families and communities to be safe; we all want a thriving economy, and we all want a nation with ample opportunities for everyone.
“This is why, as we all pray today and throughout this festive weekend, we must all remember to put our nation first. Let us seek the face of the Almighty God in finding real solutions to the problems that confront us. Let us also ask, that as we prepare to select our next set of leaders at all levels, may the Almighty God intervene in the affairs of men, and guide us all aright.
“Happy Easter to you and your families!” the former Senate President stated.

Pray for me – Pastor Adeboye begs Nigerians
General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has asked Nigerians, especially members of the church to pray for him and his family.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Pastor Adeboye made the plea on Sunday in his sermon, giving reasons on the necessity for the prayers.
The 79-year-old leader of the church said he lives all his life praying for the welfare of his spiritual children scattered across the world.
“I want to make a special request before I go into the sermon, that this year like never before please pray for your Pastors. They are human beings, they pray for you all year round, pray for them too.
“Pray for your pastors also means pray for your General Overseer. Someone asked me, Daddy, we heard you don’t sleep much at night, you are always going for prayer walks, what are you asking God for? Clothes? I said no I have enough to last me a lifetime. House? I said No, God has given me one and I have no intention of moving out of that place. Cars? Definitely not.
“What do you want? I want it to be well with my children all over the world. When there is a storm anywhere in the world, I pray by the grace of God that it doesn’t touch my children.
“If there is an earthquake, I pray my children are not affected. I pray for my children, I don’t think it is too much to ask for my children to pray for me. Pray for me and pray for my family,” Adeboye said.

Challenges: Adeboye, other Christian leaders, offer prayers for Nigeria
The General Overseer (GO) of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, and other church leaders on Sunday prayed for the nation’s progress.
The leaders, made the prayers at the inauguration of Prophetess Esther Ajayi’s Love of Christ (LOC) ultra modern worship centre on Ligali Ayorinde Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Adeboye, a guest at the event, said in the midst of difficulties, people should beckon on God for solution.
He urged Nigerians to embrace God for stability and progress in families and the nation.
The GO, who described the new church building as beautiful and deserving God’s presence, prayed that the place would henceforth be a miracle centre.
“Any prayer made in this place by people shall be answered by God for it is a blessed land.
“It is fulfilment of God’s directive to His servant, Esther Ajayi some years ago, the centre has become a reality today.
“Nigerians and their leaders should heed God’s directive for the good of the society just as our sister has done which made us to gather here today to give Him thanks,” he said.
Adeboye proclaimed peace in all the kingdoms that make up Nigeria through the traditional rulers that were present at the event.
In his remarks, Prophet El-Buba, a Jos-based preacher whose prayer was on fruitfulness, disclosed that would begin to witness progress on all fronts.
The preacher, known for harvests of miracle babies after praying for couples in need of children, said that the days of strife and uncertainties in Nigeria would come to an end this September.
According to him, people will come to the new worship centre and render prayers, including those troubling the society and get answers for the place is God’s project for a new Nigeria.
“It shall be well with Nigeria as God is at work to eliminate all those chastising the country before the end of 2021,” he said.
Also speaking at the event, Dr Richard Fasunloye, who expressed joy over the completion of the church building, asked people to ensure they discover their gift from God and grow it for the good of the society.
The gospel preacher described the host as one who was specially gifted to hear from Him.
Speaking, an elated Prophetess Ajayi, who traced how God spoke to her in the UK about the vision in 2017, said the place was planted by God for His worship.
She thanked Adeboye for grooming her spiritually. She called on people with varying needs to visit the centre for solutions, saying it was meant for that purpose.
She called for unity in the body of Christ in order to move the work of God forward and save people from anxieties.
