“I recorded over 25 songs and Pheelz opened his wide mouth to tell me he misplaced the hard drive. 25 songs!!!!! [I] spent 5 years [at YBNL] and released 4 songs! I have recorded and released three albums since I left these people, and I have so many songs I could drop an album every week!”

  • “Pastors would be the next in line”- Comedienne Princess ecstatic as doctor goes to prison over rape

“Pastors would be the next in line”- Comedienne Princess ecstatic as doctor goes to prison over rape

Popular Nigerian comedienne, Damilola Adekoya, fondly known as Princess, has stressed that as a Nollywood actor, Baba Ijesha, and a medical practitioner, Dr Femi Olaleye, have been taken to prison over rape accusation, the next person would be a pastor.

The comedienne called for celebration as Dr Olaleye, the Managing Director of Optimal Cancer Care Foundation, on Wednesday, was remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional facility pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions.

Princess was quite ecstatic over the video of Dr Olaleye being taken to Ikoyi Correctional Centre. She expressed joy at how rapists were now being held accountable for their actions.

A video of Dr Olaleye being led to the Ikoyi Correctional Centre pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions has surfaced.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that Justice Ramon Oshodi of an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Wednesday, Nov. 30, remanded Dr Olaleye for alleged defilement of his 16-year-old wife’s niece (name withheld).

The judge ordered that the defendant be remanded in Ikoyi Correctional Centre pending the perfection of his bail.

Dr Olaleye is facing a two-count charge of defilement and sexual assault by penetration of his wife’s 16-year-old niece.

He was arraigned by the Lagos state government on Wednesday at the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, in Ikeja area of Lagos.

The doctor pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.

The court granted him a bail of N50m with two sureties in like sum.

On November 21, the scheduled arraignment of the cancer care advocate was stalled following his absence in court.

Reacting, comedienne Princess, who has become a vocal advocate for abused children after her foster daughter was sexually abused by actor Baba Ijesha, took to Instagram to express her satisfaction with the judge’s order.

She said Olaleye is a “kirikiri boy”, Baba Ijesha is a “kirikiri boy“. She also added that a certain Pastor will soon become a kirikiri boy too.

In her words: “Femi Olaleye is a Kirikiri boy, hiya hiya o. Baba Ijesha is a Kirikiri boy, hiya hiya o. Pastor….will soon become a Kirikiri boy, hiya hiya o. Let’s all celebrate our small wins biko, atleast before he meets his bail conditions.”

During the trial on Wednesday, Babatunde Ogala SAN, counsel to the defendant, read out some portions of Olaleye’s bail application, which was earlier filed in the court.

Mr Ogala asked the court to admit the defendant on bail on the grounds that he is ready to attend all the trials for the case.

The lawyer also said that the defendant is a leading cancer care advocate, whose patients will suffer if remanded in prison during the course of the trial.

The senior lawyer said the offences levelled against his client are not “grievous allegations like treason” that warrants the death sentence.

The lawyer added that the behaviour exhibited by Olaleye as it relates to his voluntary presence in court shows that he will comply with the conditions of the court.

He said the defendants came to court with “reliable and liable” professional colleagues who are ready to stand as sureties for him if granted bail by the court.

Countering the bail application, Babatunde Martins, a lawyer with the state government, said the offences leveled against the defendant is a serious crime in Lagos, which attracts life imprisonment.

Mr Martins said the prosecution team is concerned that the defendant has the tendency to interfere with the case, owing to his relationship with the claimants — his wife and the minor, who is the survivor.

Mr Martins argued that Mr Olaleye is flight-risk because he owns the Nigerian passport and probably possesses a British passport.

He asked the court to impose bail conditions that will ensure that the defendant attends his trial.

    Bail conditions
For the bail conditions, the presiding judge said the defendant should provide two sureties with N50 million in like sum.

The sureties will to provide titles of two landed properties in Lagos, proof of gainful employment, three-year tax clearance, and proper national identification documents.

The judge asked Mr Olaleye to submit his international passport, British passport and all travelling documents to the court’s clerk.

The court fixed 19 and 21 December, for the continuation of trial.

  • Alleged rape: Nollywood actor, Baba Ijesha to know fate July 14

Alleged rape: Nollywood actor, Baba Ijesha to know fate July 14

An Ikeja Special Offences Court on Monday reserved judgment until July 14 in the case of the embattled Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju James, alias Baba Ijesha , accused of defiling a 14-year-old minor.

Baba Ijesha is facing a six-count charge of indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration and sexual assault by penetration.

The charges were proffered against him by the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Baba Ijesha, however, pleaded not guilty to all the counts.

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, adjourned the case for judgment after the prosecution and defence counsel had adopted their final written addresses.

Defence counsel, Mr Dada Awosika (SAN), in adopting his final written address dated May 12 and filed on May 16, urged the court to dismiss the suit and discharge the defendant.

Awosika argued that the footage of the Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) was illegally obtained.

He said: ” In the interest of justice, the exhibit A which was the CCTV footage that recalled the event was illegally obtained.

“The exhibit was not tendered by the maker. It was tendered by Princess, the complainant.

He argued that the recording had been tampered with especially since the defendant did not go to the complainant’s house uninvited.

Awosika added that this was even more strange as he was accused of a crime seven years ago which was not reported to the police.

He further submitted that the alleged confessional statement of the defendant failed the provision of Section 9 (3 ) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) of Lagos State 2021.

“The Evidence Act allows legislation to guide the admissibility of document before the court. ACJL has stated that if a confessional statement is to be used, it must meet some certain degree by ACJL which is not applied in this case.

“We urge the court to discredit the confessional statement. The defendant moved in a jiffy to participate in a short skit that put him in trouble. My Lord, my client was trapped.

“Concerning the age of the girl in question, Exhibits D and E are not saying the same thing.

“It is our submission My Lord, that the court is bound to call the biological mother inside the box to tell us her real age or her birth certificate or scientific evidence is tendered to ascertain the age but none was done.

“The prosecution agreed that the age of the minor must be established. However, it has also agreed that nothing has been done to provide the real age,” Awosika said.

The Director of DPP, Dr Babajide Martins, in his final written address dated May 31, however, urged the court to convict Baba Ijesha as charged.

He argued that one of the defence witness, Mr Lawrence Ayeni told the court that the CCTV recording could not be manipulated.

“On the issue of the CCTV recording My Lord, the first defence witness(Ayeni) told this honourable court during cross-examination that it cannot be manipulated and that the content of CCTV cannot be changed.

“Most importantly, he said he cannot say if the sexual assault did not happen. These are the testimonies from the defence witness My Lord.

“The defendant admitted to have been with the girl in both the incident that happened seven years ago and the one that happened in 2021.

“He also admitted to have sucked her fingers during the cross-examination.

“On the issue of ACJL, the primary legislation supersedes the secondary legislation.

“On the issue of medical certificate, the defendant said he did not have any issue with the medical doctor and had never met him when I cross-examined him.

“As a result, he has no reason to mislead the court,” Martins said.

Martins further told the court that the definition of a child was anybody below the age of 18 years and that the prosecution had proven that the girl was below the age.

He added that the charge of defilement can be meted out irrespective of the age below 18.

Martins said: “So far the age of the survivor is not up to 18, the charge is still defilement. My Lord, no amount of brilliant address can substitute for the evidence before the court.

“We have a compelling evidence of six prosecution witnesses which I must say are not contradictory.

The DPP said the defendant also admitted during the trial that he never mentioned that he was acting a script when he was detained by the police at Sabo and Panti.

“Our position is that the prosecution has proven its case beyond reasonable doubts and we urge the court to please sentence the defendant as charged,” he said.

The defendant was arraigned on June 24, 2021. During the trial, six prosecution witnesses testified against him.

They were – actress and comedienne, Princess, the 14-year-old minor, a child expert, Mrs Olabisi Ajayi-Kayode, and medical doctor, Dr Aniekan Makanjuola.

Others were the Investigating Police Officer, ASP Wahab Kareem and a policewoman, Insp. Abigail Omane.

The DPP closed its case against the defendant on Dec. 15, 2021 while Baba Ijesha called four witnesses and closed its defence on April 1.

The defence witnesses were Baba Ijesha (defendant) and Mr Lawrence Ayeni, an expert in video production and CCTV installation and maintenance.

Mr Olukayode Olugbemi, a clinical psychologist and Mr Olukayode Ogunbanjo, the defendant’s friend and colleague also testified for the defence.

  • Alleged rape: Princess directed me to kiss, suck breast of minor – Baba Ijesha

Alleged rape: Princess directed me to kiss, suck breast of minor – Baba Ijesha

Nollywood actor, Olarewaju James, alias Baba Ijesha, on Friday testified before an Ikeja Special Offences Court that he was acting a script in the viral video with a minor.

Baba Ijesha made this revelation while being led in evidence by the defence counsel, Dada Awosika (SAN).

Baba Ijesha told the court that the foster mother of the minor, Ms Damilola Adekoya, a comedian also known as Princess, had called and requested him to be part of the movie production.

“On April 19, 2021, Princess sent me a message that she wanted to start a production and she would like me to play the role of a lover boy which I replied ‘okay’.

“She said I was to play the role of a lover boy adding that she wanted to surprise people that I can also play normal roles.

“She said the story is about rape and she wanted to tell the story in another dimension,” he said.

The defence counsel tendered before the court, a printout of WhatsApps message between Princess and the defendant, which was admitted into evidence by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo.

The embattled actor said he asked Princess for the movie location but she told him to come over to her house.

“Before I entered, Princess met me at the balcony that the movie production was a Lagos State project, adding that the state wanted her to be the face of ‘anti child molestation.’

“She told me to improvise and create a story by myself. I told her the house was dark when I entered. She said we should rehearse that she would use her phone.

“Princess told me to kiss and suck the breast of the child, adding that the dress the girl was wearing was purposely for the role the girl wanted to play.

“She would leave the room so that the child would not be shy to play out the role.

“All those things we are seeing in that video is just acting. My lord check my record when it comes to acting, I can kill myself and die for acting. She was the one directing and filming my angles,” he said.

Baba Ijesha told the court that himself and Princess were directors of the movie, adding that she told him he could act out the scene in the kitchen as well.

“She told me I could go into the kitchen as well. She told the girl in question you remember what I told you, when I leave the room now, act out your role perfectly.

“The girl removed my shoe and I started acting out my role. I romanced her based on the movie role Princess gave me.

“As I was acting with the girl, kissing and licking her fingers, I was also whispering to her ‘hey do not look at the camera’.

“Suddenly, I saw like eight people including Princess, entered the room and started beating the girl.

“I even thought it was part of acting. She beat her and said ‘idiot is that what I asked you to do’. One of the men gave me a blow and alleged that I raped the girl,” he said.

The defendant further told the court that he was shocked when he was being beaten and thought that the men who meted out the beating were amateur actors because they are not meant to use actual physical violence in movie scenes.

Baba Ijesha said that he was forced in one of the viral videos by Princess to admit that he defiled the minor.

“Princess said “you know I love you, just tell me that seven years ago you used your car key to disvirgin the girl” that she would allow me to go if I said so.

“I had to accept under pressure so that the men would not injure me the more, after Princess invited one police officer named Abigail, before I was taken to Sabo Police Station after,” he told the court.

The defendant said he was forced to sign a statement which was not written by him at the police station.

“The statement in question profiled me because I have all my information online and Princess knows all my information as well.

“Immediately, Abigail asked me to sign and I did just that, she took me back to the cell and I stayed there till the following morning,” he said.

Under cross-examination by the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions, Dr Babajide Martins, the defendant admitted to have known the girl since she was seven.

He added that he did not inform the Police at Sabo and Panti, respectively that they were acting.

“I did not inform the policemen that we were acting because I was not myself.

“I also did not inform them at the two police stations that Princess and I were in a relationship,” he said.

Probing Baba Ijesha further, Martins said: “While you were being beaten, you said you thought that they were amateur actors because of the actual violence.

“Since you said it was a movie script, so you are not meant to mimic sexual assault on an underage child?”

Baba Ijesha in his response said the scenes he acted with the minor were appropriate.

The defendant is facing a six-count charge bordering on indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration and sexual assault by penetration.

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo adjourned the case until March 11 for continuation of defence.
