You are not a good mother- Princess slams Mama Rainbow

Popular Nigerian comedienne, Princess, has condemned veteran Nigerian actress, Idowu Phillips, fondly known as Mama Rainbow, for wanting her to take the ongoing child molestation case against Baba Ijesha out of court

TheNewsGuru recalls that days back, , Mama Rainbow said in an interview that she begged the comedienne to settle her case with the embattled actor, Baba Ijesha, out of court.

In a video shared on her Instagram page, Princess recounted her side of the story, saying she regrets the respect she ever bequeathed the veteran actress.

Princess said: “It is no longer news that my family and I have been going through hell. Everybody has their destiny pre-written, but I am doing this video because I just saw her interview. Mama Rainbow, I am ashamed for you; you are not a good mother. I regret ever respecting you; I regret ever seeing you as a mother or a grandmother.

“You said that you called me for four days and I did not answer you; now they have released him. In case you do not know, you only called me once. You called me when Baba Ijesha was in Police custody and told me to go and release him. You were instructing me and I never disrespected you. I even took my time to ask why you called me and you explained that Ijesha called you that evening to intercede on his behalf, saying he has offended me — his benefactor.

“I asked you if he told you what he did and you said he did not; but for him to have called you to intervene means that he knows that you can speak with me to quell the issue.

“Even when you called me and asked if I know who was speaking, I told you that I did and you were shocked that I have your number. I have your number because you are a mother to us all. I told you what he did and when you heard it, you were shaking on the phone because you did not know.

“You asked me to send my home address to you; three days later, you told me that you noticed my mind was not okay and I was crying. You asked me to send my address because you did not know what he did. I sent you the address but you never came. You did not come because it did not concern you and I am not your child. You have your children.”

The comedienne accused Mama Rainbow of not caring about her, saying, “When your child’s Instagram page had issues, you stuck your neck out; it was just an Instagram page. You know how to take care of your child, but because I am another person’s child, you called me and told me to go and release someone who is in Police custody for a crime.

“I was not angry but sad that day and I was crying while explaining to you but you were pretending to me. Mama Rainbow, you were pretending to me as if you are a concerned mother. Have you come to my house since then? Have you called me since then to sympathise with me? You never did. I keep quiet because I believe that justice will be served and anything hidden will come to light. I am going through a lot of pain and I do not wish it on my enemy. I am not silent because of you, Mama Rainbow.”

Sexual assault: Princess releases fresh evidence against Baba Ijesha

The sexual assault allegation levelled against popular comic actor, Olarenwaju Omiyinka, has taken another dimension as the child’s foster mother, comedienne, Princess, has released fresh evidence against the embattled actor.

TheNewsGuru recalls that on Wednesday, Baba Ijesha, was arraigned before Magistrate Peter Nwaka on charges of rape, sexual assault and abuse of a minor.

Magistrate Nwaka, however, refused the actor’s fresh bail application on the ground that the Lagos State Ministry of Justice had filed charges before a High Court.

In a new development, Princess took to her verified Instagram account to release some incriminatory evidence against Baba Ijesha.

In a series of posts on Instagram, Princess shared a recording of Baba Ijesha, alleging that while in police custody, he instructed his group members to spread false information.

According to the voice note shared, Baba Ijesha was heard saying, “When something happens to someone that has a name, one must tread carefully so that the matter will die down. If you keep answering her, the matter will not die down. After she said this, she cannot say another thing tomorrow. She cannot go to social media again because they have banned everything.

“You people should not fret; all of you should just keep doing publicity for me but act as if you do not know me. Share messages; I know you know how to write inspirational articles. Just say that we do not know the truth yet but Baba Ijesha will still come out by himself. That is all you need to say. Apply wisdom in all you do.”

Princess further shared some messages she got from a lady who identified herself as Makinwa Elizabeth. The young lady told Princess that she works as Baba Ijesha’s secretary and also the admin for Baba Ijesha WhatsApp group.

In the voice note, she alleged that she and her sister were almost victims of the embattled actor.

Elizabeth was heard saying, “My name is Makinwa Elizabeth. I am Baba Ijesha’s worker; his secretary and the group admin. Seriously, as I am chatting with you, I am in tears. To be honest, at first, I was against you. To be frank with you I was against you because I thought you were trying to form some things against him. But I am disappointed. I know you are not lying. When you levelled the allegation against him, I knew you were not lying because Baba Ijesha is a flirt. But I thought what you said seven years ago was not real. We are all disappointed in the group we belong to.

“I understand your pain and I feel your pain. I have been uncomfortable ever since I watched that video. We, members of the group, went to him and asked him for the truth, but this man lied. You will be surprised about the lie that he told us.
“Please, do not be angry at me. Seriously, I know what you are saying. He has done this thing to me before; apart from harassing me, he did it to my blood sister. It has not been up to six months ago. God saved her.

“Please don’t be angry; the whole group is sorry. The lie was just too much. He told us that both of you were once together. I went to meet him and asked that ‘Oga, is this thing real?’ I know he is a flirt because we work with him and we go around with him. When we go to a movie location, he can abandon us there. He did it to me as well but it is a long story. I did not know that he could do something like that. He lied to us.”

Elizabeth further revealed that ever since the accusation of sexual assault was made public, members of the groups had reached out to her to share their experience.

She said, “Those people are not telling me but because of this incident, they are now telling me as the admin. They are now recounting a lot of things in the group. Different people have been calling me to tell me what he did to them. They did not tell me before now, although we talk to him, he hardly listens because he is our boss. Even his senior colleagues have been advising him but he did not listen.”

In another voice note, Princess released, an unidentified lady claimed she was almost raped by the actor.

She said, “On this Baba Ijesha’s case, the man is the one who put himself into trouble. I remember a day we were at a movie location, and Baba Ijesha was there; I still have the picture we took together. The moment I got to the location, his eyes were fixated on me. He said he wanted to send me on an errand and I followed him to his room. If I was not a lady blessed with strong bones, I would have been telling another story. He almost raped me on that day. I pushed him away as he tried to force himself on me.

“My elder siblings called me when the issue happened to ask if Baba Ijesha could do such a thing, I said, ‘yes, he can’. Please, do not support him at all. He has been doing this thing for a long time. If not that I do not want any problems for myself and I do not have the means to fight him, I would have done a video narrating my encounter. Please do not support him; he is the one that put himself in this predicament.”

Baba Ijesha: ‘Temper justice with mercy’, Elesho tells Princess

Veteran actor, Adewale Elesho has reacted to Baba Ijesha ongoing sexual assault and child molestation case.

The President of the Association of Nigeria Theatre Practitioners in a video pleaded with the girl’s foster mother, Princess, to have mercy on Baba Ijesha.

He said, “I am Adewale Elesho, the President of the Association of Nigeria Theatre Practitioners. I thank all our sympathizers who have reached out to me about Baba Ijesha’s case. I want to use this opportunity to beg Princess to temper justice with mercy because things are really getting out of hands. She should please think about the years of friendship between her and Baba Ijesha and not allow this fight bring up another issue.

“I received a call last night when I was about to sleep and the caller asked me why I have not said anything about the case as the president of ANTP. The caller further asked me if Baba Ijesha is not a member of my association. More so, the caller said even if Baba Ijesha is not in my association, he is also my colleague.”

Still pleading on behalf of Baba Ijesha, Elesho called on the Commissioner of Police to ensure a thorough investigation of the case.

“I plead with you Princess, have mercy on Baba Ijesha. Remember that he is also your colleague. No one knows tomorrow except God. May God not let us face an encounter that is beyond our strength. Only God knows the true story in this situation. However, Princess should forgive him. The parent of the children will reap the fruit of their labour.

“I urge the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State to please ensure that the case is properly handled. I also call on the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Baba Ijesha and I are entertainers, and during election, entertainers help in campaigning for politicians. Please help.

“In our industry, it is not easy to make a name; but look at the way Baba Ijesha has spoilt his reputation. I am begging Princess to forgive Baba Ijesha. Before making this video, I consulted the leaders in our Association and they gave permission to proceed to talk. Please, let us all forgive Baba Ijesha,” Elesho said.

  • Gullible Baba Ijesha in Vengeful Princess’ Trap – Michael West

Gullible Baba Ijesha in Vengeful Princess’ Trap – Michael West

    By Michael West

The fall of Baba Ijesha is the consequence of his untamed weakness and lack of discretion. He naively walked into the trap that he could smartly avoid. This is so shameful and regrettable.

It is not in my character to kick someone who is already fallen to the ground but to dispassionately review the situation in order for others to learn from the mistake. A lot has been said, written and shared about the raging scandal involving Omiyinka Olanrewaju James a.k.a Baba Ijesha. I won’t deny him. I know him fairly enough to write about him. I don’t believe that I should defend him since he owned up to committing the crime. Those in the entertainment industry, his friends and numerous fans, Baba Ijesha has disappointed them all. I’m sure he is not alone in the ignominious misbehaviour. If others fail to repent, their own mess will soon be revealed.

My interest in this case is to interrogate the circumstances surrounding the allegation and how it took place. Let’s drop emotional sentiment and commentaries of condemnation of the suspect for now and do some critical analysis of the trajectory. When the sexual molestation allegedly took place seven years ago, was Princess not aware of it since then? If she knew at the time or later, why did she keep quiet? What manner of relationship existed between her and Baba Ijesha that warranted unrestricted access to her inner recess? What’s the motive behind the entrapment of Baba Ijesha for an offence allegedly committed seven years ago? Could it be that Princess didn’t see him in the last seven years or what? If seeking justice for an alleged abuse is the essence of the whole drama, couldn’t she go to a government agency or a Non-governmental organization, NGO, to lodge the complain and the suspect will be invited for investigation which may lead to his prosecution? Is there something more to this drama than what is trending on social media? If Princess is not liable in the face of the law for setting up her “friend” for disgrace, how about the moral implication of her vindictive action? By the time this case will be laid to rest, Baba Ijesha may not be the only one that would receive sentences in the court of public opinions.

Like Baba Ijesha, Princess is also a suspect that should be arraigned in the court of public conscience. Listening to her audio statement and video interrogation she did to humiliate Baba Ijesha, everything pointed to an act of vendetta and ambushment against the unsuspecting pedophile Baba Ijesha. I want to believe that Princess is not telling us the whole truth about the matter. While she’s being clever in shielding her own part, she beamed the spotlight of condemnation on her prey – Baba Ijesha.

Princess and Baba Ijesha were “bosom” friends. According to her, she would have allowed him to live with her but she wanted to avoid becoming an object of gossip, more so she just lost her home. Please what manner of friendship or relationship among adults in their 40s that would be so deep as to contemplate co-habitting? Helpers could be anybody which was why she offered to sponsor his education all in the name of being “a friend and colleague.” I’m probing this background not to trivialise the seriousness of the alleged crime but to point out that Princess actually set Baba Ijesha up in order to deal with him for undisclosed infractions he might have committed during their crashed relationship. I want to assume that Princess knew about the incident when the alleged defilement of the minor took place seven years ago but chose to treat it as a “family issue.” Now that their honeymoon was over, Princess, having known his weakness, decided to bait him with the victim of his concealed crime in order to take her own pound of flesh.

While crime does not have an expiry date, but for Princess to boldly pretend that what took place seven years ago was the reason for her sudden cry for justice is not convincing enough. She is up to something ulterior in motive. I perceive that this scandal is just a smokescreen to get at her target. Deliberately setting someone up for a crime is a crime on its own. Therefore, Princess must also answer for her own moral crime, too. Two wrongs don’t make a right. You can’t fight a crime by committing another crime. Agreed that Baba Ijesha has owned up to committing the crime, his accuser must also be dragged to face her own “trial” in public for baiting someone to commit a crime in order to achieve a vengeful end.

What further amazes me is how some Nollywood personalities took positions either for or against Baba Ijesha. The Bible says everybody will bear the consequences of their iniquity. Baba Ijesha should be allowed to face the music.

She was bold enough to say she invited an Hi-Tech company to install a CCTV camera in the living room where she was sure the drama would take place. The girl in question also appeared tutored to play along. She sat on the same settee with Baba Ijesha. There was no friction or forceful body contact throughout the scene. She acted like someone in the know of the plot. I became appalled watching the ugly scene where a celebrated comedian sank his career shamefully due to his lustful cravings.

It is surprising that some of those calling for Baba Ijesha’s head are worse off in their private lives. We know how many of them started in the industry. Nollywood, like its ilk around the globe, is full of rot and sex scandals. There was a time sex was the cheapest form of hospitality freely given in the entertainment industry. One of the reasons many of them failed to keep their homes was the issue of sex scandals trailing them even in marriage. They want to eat their cakes and still have them for keep. Failed marriage is not peculiar to a particular field or profession but in the entertainment industry, the factors that ruin their marital relationships are commonly similar. Anybody who wants to contest this fact should first find out before coming out.

Let me conclude on the note that no sinner would go unpunished. Baba Ijesha has learnt his lessons but in a hard way. Let those who think Princess just woke up from her slumber to demand for justice after seven years think beyond the facade of activism. Sooner or later, the untold story of this scandal would surface someday. Princess is known to be a cheerful, easy-going and generous woman by her friends and associates. Like some of her colleagues, marriage has been so challenging for her. It is rumoured that Baba Ijesha crossed the red line in their affairs, a situation that hurt her so much. I can’t confirm the rumour but Princess confessed that Baba Ijesha has been her close friend whom she would have allowed to move in with her. Whatever that means, please draw your own conclusion. And for her to ruin the career of a man she invested in his education in public space like she did now proves that beyond the alleged violation of her “daughter,” Princess actually has an axe to grind with Baba Ijesha, and unfortunately, he’s done for.

  • Baba Ijesha Sexual Assault: Princess must be arrested, prosecuted for using minor as bait – Yomi Fabiyi

Baba Ijesha Sexual Assault: Princess must be arrested, prosecuted for using minor as bait – Yomi Fabiyi

Nollywood actor, Yomi Fabiyi, has condemned comedienne, Princess for using a minor as a bait set up embattled actor, Olanrewaju James, aka Baba Ijesha.

He opined that the only person free from arrest and prosecution is the young lady (the victim), stressing that several red lines were crossed.

According to him, “If the girl was your child, can you make her go through such trauma again in the name of gathering evidence?”

Yomi Fabiyi said this in a statement titled, ‘It Is Criminal To Molest A Minor Or Use A Minor As A Trap To Gather Evidence.’

He, however described the CCTV footage of actor Olanrewaju James, also known as Baba Ijesha, sexually abusing a minor is disturbing.

The actor who made his stance known on Instagram, condemned the actions of Baba Ijesha following the release of the footage.

He, lamented that his hesitation to jump to a conclusion concerning the allegation against Baba Ijesha was taken to mean he was supporting the suspect.

The statement read, “It is disturbing and unfortunate viewing the images of the released CCTV footage of a minor been sexually abused by a senior colleague, Mr Lanre Omiyinka a.k.a Baba Ijesha. There is no excuse for this act. I condemn this act, it is embarrassing and disappointing.

“I have carefully waited for reliable options before jumping to a conclusion as done in a civilised society, a stance a handful misconstrued as supporting the suspect, it is a shame a handful in Nigeria still engage in social media recklessness in the name of social media age. NOWHERE HAVE I SUPPORTED OR CONDONE SUCH, someone just placed the idea and many without caution jumped on it. If you are not enlightened, SEEK KNOWLEDGE.

“The only person free from arrest and prosecution is the young lady. Several red lines were crossed, IGNORANCE is never an excuse. The key question every honest person should be asking is, “if the girl was your child, can you make her go through such trauma again in the name of gathering evidence? Where are the social services and domestic violence unit in Lagos State? Shelve press release and sentiments, swing into action.

“The law is sacrosanct and we all can agree a lot more needs to be done TO PROTECT CHILDREN IN NIGERIA. I am sad, we have failed many innocent children and it is time we rise to this challenge, THE WORLD IS WATCHING. Every Nigerian who honestly feel for the poor girl should take to the street in a peaceful protest, demand arrest of all connected to these ugly images, it is a cause worth risking everything for, do it for humanity and every innocent child.

“However, sentiment should never be an excuse to abuse the rights of every suspect or persons connected, that is the only way to achieve peace, fairness, justice and development. Thanks to the Lagos Police Commissioner and officers for their meticulous investigation and efforts so far. A society patient to balance a story seldom get misled or stand with lies. The media are doing a good job too. We want a safer Nigeria for every child.”

Baba Ijesha does not have biological children – Princess

Actress and comedienne, Damilola Adekoya, better known as Princess, has stated that embattled actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, alias Baba Ijesha, does not have biological children

Princess made the revelation during an Instagram Live session with actress Iyabo Ojo on Thursday Night.

TheNewsGuru recalls that Baba Ijesha was last week detained for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl kept in Princess’ care.

Speaking with Iyabo in a mixture of English and Yoruba, Princess said fervently “if Ijesha had a child of his own – he doesn’t have kids yet – the victim would have been his grandchild.”

Princess also used the video to express her opinion about the remarks of Yomi Fabiyi and Foluke Daramola over the allegations against Baba Ijesha.

According to her, their suggestion that video evidence is needed to prove the comedian actually assaulted the girl is irresponsible and wicked.

Earlier in the week, Princess in an emotion-laden lengthy video, revealed that the immoral act Baba Ijesha was involved in happened in her house when he came to her for help.

She said, “Some years ago, I had challenges with my marriage and I lost a baby. So some parents in my area out of compassion allow their children to stay with me so that I will not feel lonely. There were six of them, three boys and three girls. Now, Baba Ijesha had challenges and he came to me for help so I tried my best. I registered him for a lesson, he sat for GCE and I tried to get him into UNILAG; in fact, he was enrolled. That day he wanted another help and I was not going out so I asked the three boys to go and play at their play spot down the street. My aunt had come to visit me and he was around. So when she was leaving, I had to go downstairs to lock the gate after her.

“I do not know what happened in the space of three to four minutes but the following week, the school called me that I should come and see my children. They said the girl sat on her brother’s leg and was whining her waist. They called me and the parents of the children. The parents of the children are staunch born again Christians and I don’t allow them to watch anything even cartoons. If they have to watch cartoons, I must watch it with them.”
