Primate Ayodele reveals prophecies on 2027 elections, security threats

As the 2027 general elections draw closer, the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has released a new wave of prophecies warning of political turbulence, heightened insecurity, and divine revelations that could reshape Nigeria’s future.

In an exclusive interview with Sunday Tribune, the renowned cleric, known for past predictions that have reportedly come to pass, declared that President Bola Tinubu’s return in 2027 is far from guaranteed. According to Ayodele, God has revealed three individuals who, if they enter the presidential race, could end Tinubu’s political reign.

“I will not mention their names now,” Ayodele said. “But when the time comes, I’ll point them out boldly. If any one of them contests, Tinubu will not return.”

While warning against electing former Vice President Atiku Abubakar or Labour Party’s Peter Obi — saying both would lead Nigeria to “tragedy” or “collapse” — Ayodele surprisingly stated that Tinubu remains the best option under current circumstances. However, he insisted that Tinubu’s future depends on critical decisions and divine alignment.

    SECURITY WARNING AND PRESIDENCY ALERT
Ayodele issued a serious security warning, claiming President Tinubu’s safety has been compromised. He specifically mentioned a threat of poisoning within the Presidential Villa and called for heightened protection for First Lady Remi Tinubu.

“There is a poisoning threat. The cooks must be changed. A gunshot incident may even occur inside the Villa if care is not taken,” he warned.

He also urged the replacement of the Inspector General of Police, stating that the country’s current security architecture is vulnerable to escalating threats, including the emergence of a new terrorist group.

    STATE-BY-STATE POLITICAL FORECAST
The cleric offered extensive insight into state-level political dynamics. In Rivers State, he confirmed that Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s feud with his predecessor Nyesom Wike was divinely foretold. He also predicted turbulence in states such as Imo, Delta, Abia, Oyo, and Adamawa.

In Delta, he forecast political cracks within the APC and warned of a potential bombing attempt. In Oyo, he spoke of religious tensions and the rising influence of political blocs from the Oke-Ogun region.

    NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL OUTLOOK
Ayodele prophesied future international tensions, including a warning against allowing France to set up a military base in Nigeria — an act he believes would bring “disaster.” He also forecast major natural disasters such as flooding across multiple Nigerian states and predicted temporary telecom shutdowns affecting Glo, MTN, and Airtel.

On the global stage, he reiterated earlier warnings about political developments in the U.S., Ghana, and other African nations, noting that many of his previous prophecies have already come true.

    HEALTH WARNINGS AND PUBLIC FIGURES
The spiritual leader also called for prayers for several notable personalities, including former Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson, Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka, and Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. He warned of potential health scares and advised caution for judges and politicians alike.

Despite the ominous tone of many of his predictions, Primate Ayodele expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, saying the country would eventually see a revival in oil wealth, global respect for its passport, and even a national rebranding symbolized by a change in its flag.

“Nigeria has a great future,” he declared. “But only if her leaders heed the signs.”

  • Fulfilling God’s prophecies (2) – By Femi Aribisala

Fulfilling God’s prophecies (2) – By Femi Aribisala

“We don’t walk in the spirit. We walk “in the internet””.

The Lord told me a story. A man was travelling from Jerusalem to Jericho and was attacked by armed robbers. They stripped him of his belongings and beat him black and blue. They beat him until he slumped and died.  Then the Lord asked me a question. He said, “Femi, what happened after the man died?”

I did not know the answer so I asked the Holy Spirit. He said: “They stopped beating him.” Then He said to me: “Femi, if they are still beating you, it is because you are not dead yet.  Once you are dead, the beating will stop.”

What does a dead man do if he is abused? Nothing! What does he do if he is provoked? Nothing! What does he do if he is flattered? Nothing! What does he do if he is tempted? Nothing! What does he do if a seductive woman undresses in front of him? Nothing! What does he do if he is offered a bribe? Nothing!

Whatever you do, a dead man does not react. He is dead to this world but hopefully alive to God. That is what it means to be born again. Therefore, Paul says to born-again believers: “Reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:11).

    Are Christians born-again?

The word of God says: “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Many Christians claim to be born again, however, old things have not passed away in us. We claim to be born again but we remain the same. We then try to put the new wine of Christ in an old bottle. But this cannot work. We come to Jesus by faith. But faith without works is dead. (James 2:20).

The man who is born again is that man who was crucified with Christ. That means when Christ died, we also died.  Our body of sin was nailed to the cross. We then came back to life when Jesus rose from the dead.

However, we do not come back to life as our old selves. We come back to life as new men and women. We come back to life in the likeness of Christ. Jesus becomes our life. (Colossians 3:4).

    Baptism into Christ’s death

We are baptised into Christ’s death when we are truly born again. The old carnal man of the flesh, which is congenitally unrighteous, is crucified with Christ. That sinful nature is responsible for our alienation from God. It ensures that sin is natural to the man in the flesh. And righteousness is unnatural.

David says: “The wicked are estranged from the womb; they go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies.” (Psalm 58:3).

You do not have to teach a child to tell lies. Telling lies comes naturally to him. But you have to teach him to stop telling lies. However, no matter how much you teach him, he cannot stop. He cannot help himself. As long as he is in the flesh, he will be a slave of sin.

But when a man receives Christ, he comes alive spiritually and the Holy Spirit comes to live in him as his Helper. The Bible says: “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” (2 Corinthians 3:17). The Holy Spirit breaks down the gates of brass, and the bars of iron that have tied him to the life of sin in the kingdom of death.

    Prophecy of new birth

When a man is born again, he discovers that an Old Testament prophecy is fulfilled in him. He finds that there are two competing natures in him. This is how God describes this to Rebecca:

“Two nations are in your womb, two peoples shall be separated from your body; one people shall be stronger than the other, and the older shall serve the younger.” (Genesis 25:23).

This is where Christians miss the road. We are not determined to realise this prophecy that the older shall serve the younger. We fail to insist as Jesus did: “Everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and in the Psalms must be fulfilled.” (Luke 24:44)

The older man is the man of the flesh, that comes with natural birth. The younger man is the man of the Spirit, that comes alive when we are born again. The word of God says the older shall serve the younger. But in most Christians, including those of us who claim to be born again, the younger (the spirit) still serves the older (the flesh).

    Crucified flesh

The reason is that we do not allow our flesh to be crucified. When the flesh is crucified, our body of sin dies an agonising death. Death by crucifixion is slow. But the inevitable end is death.

This is presented symbolically by the war between the house of Saul and the house of David: “Now there was a long war between the house of Saul and the house of David. But David grew stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul grew weaker and weaker.”  (2 Samuel 3:1).

When the flesh finally dies, we are freed from sin: “For he who has died has been freed from sin.” (Romans 6:7).

Jesus came to earth in the likeness of sinful flesh to break the power of sin in the flesh. He used spiritual powers to prevail over the flesh. He refused to accede to the demands of the flesh.

He allowed malefactors to arrest Him. He did not resist when they beat Him. They clothed Him in purple and put a crown of thorns on His head. They slapped Him and spat on Him. They mocked Him, saluting Him as “the King of the Jews.” They then led Him out naked and crucified Him.

In all this, Jesus put up no resistance: “He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth.” (Isaiah 53:7).

We can only emulate Jesus’ example if we walk in the spirit. We cannot if we walk in the flesh. If we do not crucify the flesh, the old man of the flesh will make us respond to abuses with abuses, insults with insults, an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.

    Crucified Life

Many Christians are not aware that we are supposed to be baptised into Christ’s death. Even when we undergo water baptism, we only see this as a religious ritual, without realising its practical implication.

    Thus, Paul asks the Romans:

“Don’t you know that all of us who were baptised into Christ Jesus were baptised into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.” (Romans 6:3-6).

Jesus died for us so we can live for Him. But we Christians do not see the crucified life he exemplified as “the way, the truth, and the life.” (John 14:6). We give an eye for an eye. We give a tooth for a tooth. We fight, we cheat, and we steal. We abuse others, curse, and betray our friends.

We don’t walk in the spirit. We walk “in the internet.” We do not spend time in prayer but on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and LinkedIn.

We fornicate and commit adultery. We pledge: for better. for worse, for richer, and for poorer, but then divorce our wives and choose younger models. We walk in lies and hypocrisy. We tell lies all the time. We waste our lives trying to make money. We love the world and the things in the world. We are lovers of pleasure not lovers of God.

But then we go to church on Sunday. Go to midweek services. Speak in tongues. Fall under the anointing. Sing praise songs and quote choice scriptures.

Jesus warns: “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.  Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’” (Matthew 7:21-23).

Fulfilling God’s prophecies (1) – By Femi Aribisala

“What is God’s prophecy about you and me”?

In 1996, God gave me a prophecy in a dream. I had a video shop in Victoria Island, Lagos, and I was flipping through the account book. Suddenly, I opened a page and discovered it was recorded that my shop made N23,000 naira on a certain day. Then I woke up.

I was excited. The maximum the shop had made in a day since I opened it in 1993 was N7,000. But now God showed me it would make N23,000.

God says in Isaiah: “Indeed I have spoken it; I will also bring it to pass. I have purposed it; I will also do it.” (Isaiah 46:11).

So, I knew that: “Heaven and earth will pass away, but (God’s) words will by no means pass away.” (Matthew 24:35). Therefore, I decided to run with this prophecy. I poured resources into the shop. Where I used to put 10 copies of a video, I put 50.

Some clients warned me that I was wasting money. But I refused to listen. Theirs was the voice of a stranger. (John 10:5). I so ran with this prophecy that God spoke to me again about it. He said: “Femi, because you believe the word I gave you, I will tell you when My prophecy will be fulfilled. It will come to pass on 29 December 1996.

This propelled me to an even greater level of determination. But something baffling happened. On 29 December 1996, my Victoria Island shop did not earn N23,000, according to God’s prophetic word. Instead, it earned N29,000.

I took the matter to the Lord and sought His clarification. “I am not complaining, but You said N23,000 and it was not N23,000. Instead , it was N29,000. How come?”

The Lord’s reply took me to another level of faith. He said to me: “Femi, you exceeded the prophecy!”

    Exceeding prophecies

A year later, in 1997 God gave me another prophecy. I rented a house in Victoria Island as the headquarters of the ministry He gave me. But then He told me that He had given me the rented house.

I decided to act immediately as if I already owned the house. I spent over N6 million renovating it to my taste. When it was time to renew the rent after two years, the landlady sent her lawyer to me. She told me the landlady said she wants to sell the house, and she specifically want to sell it to me.

I agreed to buy the house at the ridiculous price of N26 million. The landlady even agreed that I should pay for the house in instalments over 2 years. But after 2 years, I still had not finished paying for the house. N10 million was still outstanding.

So, I borrowed N10 million from First Bank to pay off the landlady. The papers for the house were then given to First Bank pending my redemption of the loan. I paid the loan down to N5 million, fell on hard times, and it grew back to N10 million with penalties.

Then God appeared to me in a dream and promised to send me the money. Within 8 days, I received N11 million naira in unsolicited gifts. I paid off my N10 million outstanding loan for an agreed N8 million and the house became mine.

That house that I bought for a song at the agreed price of N26 million in 1999 is now worth over N1 billion in 2024. That is the amazing grace of God

    Nouveau Schools

Some years later, God gave me another prophecy. He showed me a group of children from different countries running around in front of the building He gave me. I did not exactly understand what this meant. I assumed it meant I would have an international ministry somewhere in Europe. But then, the children were running around in front of the building in Lagos.

Some 10 years later, two Indian women came to see me. They said there was a 35-year-old international school fifteen minutes’ walk from mine. (It was rather hidden, so I was totally oblivious to this). The owner was retiring and going back to England. Would I be interested in inheriting her school free of charge?

That is how God gave me an international school. I came to work one day and saw some 60 children from different parts of the world running around in front of the building God gave me. It blew my mind.

Thus fulfilled one of the promises of God to give His people: “(A) land with large, prosperous cities that you did not build. The houses will be richly stocked with goods you did not produce. You will draw water from cisterns you did not dig, and you will eat from vineyards and olive trees you did not plant.” (Deuteronomy 6:10-11).

But the question remains. Why does God keep giving me these prophecies which I am then required to run with to their fulfilment?

He says to Habakkuk: “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” (Habakkuk 2:2-3).

    Messianic prophecies

The answer to my question comes through the study of Jesus.

The entirety of the Old Testament is a collection of prophecies about Jesus. Indeed: “The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” (Revelation 19:10). When Jesus finally arrived on the scene He was determined that every single prophecy about Him must be fulfilled.

When He rose from the dead, He reminded His disciples: “When I was with you before, I told you that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and in the Psalms must be fulfilled.’ Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. And He said, “Yes, it was written long ago that the Messiah would suffer and die and rise from the dead on the third day.” (Luke 24:44-46).

Jesus was so determined that the prophecy of His death and resurrection must be fulfilled that when Peter tried to dissuade Him from the cross, out of the misguided kindness of his heart, Jesus shut him up in the most extreme manner:

“Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day. Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, ‘Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!’ But He turned and said to Peter, ‘Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.’” (Matthew 16:21-23).

Jesus was so determined that the prophecy of His crucifixion be fulfilled, that He even encouraged Judas to go ahead and betray Him without delay. He knew Judas planned to betray Him to the Jewish authorities and He said to Him: “”Hurry and do what you’re going to do.” (John 13:27).

Immediately, Judas got up, and went out to betray Jesus.

We can see, therefore, that it made no difference if the prophecy was good or bad, if it was about Jesus then Jesus was committed to its fulfilment.

Thus, Isaiah prophesied about Jesus the Messiah:

“He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, everyone, to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” (Isaiah 53:5-6).

On His resurrection, Jesus berated His disciples who refused to believe this prophecy. He said to the two He appeared to on the way to Emmaus: “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?” (Luke 24:25-26).

    Prophecy about believers

In this way, I discovered that God was giving me prophecies and fulfilling them so that, like Jesus, I would be committed to their fulfilment. But the lesson was so much bigger than my puny businesses, my school, and my finances. It was intended that I should be conformed to the image of Jesus,

It was because God had predestined His elect to be conformed to the image of His Son Jesus, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. (Romans 8:29-30).

So, what are some of those prophecies about believers that we must be determined should be fulfilled?

Here is perhaps one of the most important ones. God says the time is coming and now is when the children of God will not be able to commit any sin whatsoever: “(God) will subdue our iniquities. He will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.” (Micah 7:19).

The prophets say the time is coming when God will rain righteousness on us. (Hosea 10:12). So much so that we will not only not want to sin, but will even discover that we cannot sin: “Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.” (1 John 3:9).

Should we believe this prophecy? Yes, of course! But if we believe, what should we do about it? How should we show our commitment to its fulfilment?

James says: “Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” “But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?” (James 2:18/20).

John even poses the challenge more succinctly: “Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but He has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like Him, for we will see Him as He really is. And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as He is pure.” (1 John 3:2-3).

If we do not keep ourselves pure, that is eloquent testimony that the prophecies about God’s sanctification of His saints do not apply to us. Those who believe must be determined, like Jesus, that everything written about us in the Law of Moses, in the Prophets, the Psalms, and the New Testament must be fulfilled in us.

New Year prophecies: Ghana police send strong warning to religious leaders

The Ghana Police Service has warned religious leaders in the country against releasing New Year prophecies that are likely to cause fear and alarm the public or disturb the public peace as 2021 draws to a close.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports the police service in Ghana gave the warning in a statement titled: Ghana Police Service statement on communication of prophecies and their legal implications.

The police service in the statement signed by Supt. Alexander Kwaku Obeng, Director of Ghana police public affairs, however, noted that it was not against prophecies.

The police stressed that it was a crime for a person, by means of electronic communications service, to knowingly send a communication that is false or misleading and likely to prejudice the efficiency of life saving service or to endanger the safety of any person.

It stated that a person found guilty under these laws could be liable to a term of imprisonment of up to five years.

The statement reads: “As the year 2021 draws to a close, the Ghana Police Service wishes to draw the attention of Ghanaians, especially religious groups, to the fact that whereas we have the right to religion, freedom of worship and free speech, all of these rights are subject to the respect for the rights and freedoms of others according to our laws.

“Over the years, communication of prophesies of harm, danger and death, by some religious leaders, have created tension and panic in the Ghanaian society and put the lives of many people in fear and danger.

“We want to caution that under Ghanaian law, it is a crime for a person to publish or reproduce a statement, rumour or report which is likely to cause fear and alarm to the public or to disturb the public peace, where that person has no evidence to prove that the statement, rumour or report is true.

“It is also a crime for a person, by means of electronic communications service, to knowingly send a communication that is false or misleading and likely to prejudice the efficiency of life saving service or to endanger the safety of any person.

“A person found guilty under these laws could be liable to a term of imprisonment of up to five years.

“We therefore wish to caution all Ghanaians, especially religious groups and leaders to be measured in their utterances, especially how they communicate prophecies, which may injure the right of others and the public interest.

“The Ghana Police Service wishes to place on record that the Police are not against prophecies; we acknowledge that we Ghanalans are a religious people who know, and believe in, the centrality of God in our lives.

“The Police wish to assure all religious organizations that we are committed to ensuring maximum security during the 31st December night, end of year services and beyond. There should be no apprehensions therefore about undertaking the various activities. We ask only that everyone keeps within the law and is mindful of the welfare of each other.

“We also urge all Ghanaians to observe the COVID-19 protocols religiously so as to protect ourselves, families and friends from this ravaging pandemic.

“We also take this opportunity to wish all Ghanaians a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year”.

New Year Prophecies of Divination or Inspiration?

As the year 2020, laden with the corona virus pandemic is gradually coming to an end, hopefully, we shall soon begin to hear the unleashing of New year ‘prophecies’ for 2021 by a host of men of God, often called prophets. This has suddenly become the norm at the beginning of every new year. Sometimes, such prophecies portend danger and tragic events that will happen and other times, they convey glad tidings. Unfortunately, it was very strange that in the series of prophecies for 2020, no one saw the corona virus pandemic, breezing in from far away China, and spreading to almost every part of the world. No one could even foresee the devastating blow and havoc the pandemic was going to visit on humanity and the number of lives it would claim.

However, what is of concern to me is the nature of most of the prophecies. Looking at some past prophecies, the question is, do they really qualify to be so called? What makes them different from predictions people sometimes make about future events? And very importantly, are these prophecies products of divination or inspiration? Looking at prophecy in the scriptures will help to address these issues posed and give a better understanding of what prophecy is all about and what it should mean for us today.

The word prophet comes from the Greek prophetes – meaning one who speaks for another, especially God and the Hebrew nabi – meaning one who calls, announces, proclaims a message, one who is called; a vocation to be messenger. One who acts or speaks on behalf of another. A prophet was a member of ancient Israel’s religious leadership considered to be skilled in divine and human communication. Usually, he received a word from God and announces it to those seeking that word. In ancient Israel, prophecy did not connote the future. If that was the case, then what were the sources of their prophecy? Prophecies originated either through divination or inspiration. Let me quickly throw some light on this.

For divination, the individual took the initiative to inquire or investigate, certain technical skills were required to master the art of divination, and they were often met with mixed reception in the Bible. A good example is found in the prophet Micah 3:10-11, “Who build up Zion with bloodshed, and Jerusalem with wickedness! Its leaders render judgment for a bribe, the priests teach for pay, the prophets divine for money. While they rely on the LORD, saying, “Is not the LORD in the midst of us? No evil can come upon us!”. Also see 1 Sam. 28:8-11 and Ezekiel 21:26. In this case, it is not God who sends or gives the message, but the prophet or individual on his own goes all out in search of the information or knowledge. This use of divinatory techniques was very rampant among the counterparts of Israel’s prophets in making inquiries on behalf of their people. Even though some form of divination was practiced among the ancient Israelites, like interpretation of dreams (Gen. 37:5-11; Matt. 1;18-20; 2:13,19) and lot oracles (Ezra 2:59-63), they were still however forbidden (Cf. Deut. 18:9-14).

On the other hand, prophecy through inspiration was a direct revelation from the LORD. God would speak directly to the prophet through dreams and visions. Usually, it was characterized by the phrase, “Thus says the Lord!” (Cf. Is. 6:1-6). Through the prophets, God communicated to the people, and the people could consult the prophets to know God’s will and intentions for them. King Jehoshaphat urges the king of Israel to seek a word of the Lord from the prophet Micaiah, son of Imlah, whether to go to war against Ramoth-Gilead or not (1Kgs. 22). King Josiah sent his advisers to go to Huldah the prophet, and consult the Lord concerning the book found in the temple (2Kgs. 22:11-20).

Besides, there were also cases of false prophets. Those who were genuinely sent by God and those who claimed to be sent by God. We see a clear case of prophetic conflict in the Bible between the prophets Jeremiah and Hananiah. Hananiah had announced that God spoke to him that the Babylonian domination would be broken. That within two years all the vessels carted away from the temple would be returned and that king Jeconiah of Judah and all the exiles of Judah who went to Babylon would return. Within that same moment, the prophet Jeremiah also prophesied that God told him this would not be the case. Rather, as a sign, he was asked to tell Hananiah that he was going to die that same year for misleading the people. Truly, on the seventh month of that same year, Hananiah died (Jer. 28:1-17).

So, how possible is it to recognize if a prophecy originated from God or otherwise? Looking at the present circumstances, how do we know which prophesies are from God and those that are not from Him? This brings us to what is referred to as the Deuteronomic test. In the book of Deuteronomy, we are told; “if a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD but the word does not come true, it is a word the LORD did not speak. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; do not fear him.” (18:21-22). Apart from some of the new year prophecies in the past not coming through, the nature and content of some of these prophecies are, to say the least, highly ridiculous, and insignificant. Sometimes, I wonder if God bothers himself with such matters and be discussing them with such people. I wonder also, if God now lacks foreknowledge when some of these framed prophecies never come to pass. Or do they communicate the mind of God wrongly due to the limitation of human language? While this is not an attempt to completely undermine the fact that God still speaks to each one of us, He also speaks through certain people also, irrespective of religious, political, ethnic, and cultural background. The fact remains that some of the prophetic claims we are going to witness in the year 2021 are unfounded, never inspired by God but attempts aimed at gaining cheap popularity. Whom God has not spoken to, should not attribute his or her claims to God. God can not be manipulated or cajoled.

As we look forward to the “2021 prophetic claims”, which will soon start flooding our print and social media platforms, I wish to invite everyone to look at some of the issues and challenges facing us both nationally and globally today. They include insecurity of lives and property, the pending ASUU strike and the prolonged stay of our youths at home, terrorism and armed banditry, the advent of a vaccine and divine intervention in curbing the corona virus, poverty, unemployment, good and empathetic leadership, social injustice, discrimination, and inequality, domestic violence and sexual abuse, suffering and oppression of the poor by the rich and political/religious elites, poor healthcare and lack of potable water, ethno-religious conflicts and crisis, racism, tribalism, ethnicism and nepotism, danger of greed, avarice and inordinate desire for wealth and riches, quest for power and positions at whatever cost and disregard for human dignity, life, rights and freedom.

Amid all these problems, where do we find God speaking to each of us and warning us to beware and be careful? How do we hear God inviting us to join hands to create a better world for ourselves and others? Do we even realize how we have contributed to the social and moral problems we face in the world today? Do we not realize that rather than one person claiming to have heard from God, that God is also speaking to each of us from the inner recesses of our consciences, urging us to do the right thing (Cf. Rom. 10:8-9). So, as we approach the new year, let each person strive to listen to what God is saying through the persistent and unrelenting pandemic, our disappointments, failures, difficulties, and setbacks; through our children, youths, and subordinates, since some people never listen to these groups of people in their lives. This time around, let the so-called prophets listen to what God is saying to them through their own congregations, flocks, families, and followers. Let us listen to what God is saying through the tensions, crisis, and problems we have created for ourselves through unforgiveness, bitterness, malice, anger, envy, jealousy, pride, unfaithfulness, and disobedience. As Scripture says:If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chron. 7:14).

The year 2020 has been a tough and challenging year for everyone. The experiences have been horrendous. Yet, God permitted everything that has happened, expectedly for a good reason and purpose. As we continue to unfold the pack of lessons and morals that accompanied the year 2020, let us look ahead and see what the year 2021 holds in stock for us. While we wish the best for ourselves and for everyone, let us ask God to inspire each one of us to know, seek, and do the right thing. We do not need to wait for any prophetic declarations from any prophet to discover what God expects from us. God wants us to turn away from evil and do good. He wants us to love one another as he has loved us in Christ. May the year 2021 be better than the previous year. We look forward to the end of the corona virus pandemic and a better life for everyone. We hope for an improved style of governance that will usher in better opportunities and way of life. We hope for improved security of lives and property. We hope for much regard and respect for human life, dignity, and freedom, unlike the mindless killings and abductions we saw in 2020. We equally hope that those who prophesy through divination not inspiration from God, will not cause us unnecessary headaches and heartaches in 2021 more than we have already. May God heal our land and help us. Happy New Year of God’s peace and blessings to you all!
