  • Messi’s father in Saudi to discuss Al-Hilal move

Messi’s father in Saudi to discuss Al-Hilal move

Lionel Messi’s father Jorge is seemingly in Saudi Arabia to hold talks with Al-Hilal.

According to Tribalfootball Messi already has an ambassadorial deal with the Saudis as part of their attempts to win the 2030 World Cup hosting bid.

The Argentine World Cup winner plays for Paris Saint-Germain, and French reports had suggested that a renewal was possible.

However, Mundo Deportivo is now reporting that Messi’s father Jorge is in Riyadh discussing terms with Al-Hilal.

Any move would happen at the end of the season when Messi is a free agent.

The Saudi side are prepared to pay him £245 million-a-year to get him into the same league as Cristiano Ronaldo.

  • Mbappe considered for Les Bleus’ captainship after Lloris’ retirement

Mbappe considered for Les Bleus’ captainship after Lloris’ retirement

Paris Saint-Germain boss, Christophe Galtier has hinted that Kyllian Mbappe could be pronounced France’s captain.

He added that if the player is chosen he will be taking on “a huge responsibility” on his shoulder following goalkeeper Hugo Lloris’ retirement from international football.

Although, Galtier described Mbappe as a leader, he noted that he hasn’t spoken to him yet about being chosen as France’s new captain.

Mbappe has already won 66 caps for Les Bleus, scoring 36 goals in the process.

The 24-year-old won the 2018 FIFA World Cup and scored a hat-trick against Argentina in the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar, but he painfully finished on the losing team.

The former Monaco star appears an obvious candidate, but he may not aspire to the captaincy, which Lloris held for ten years.

Another contender for the vacant position is Manchester United centre-back Raphael Varane, he served as assistant to Lloris at the just concluded FIFA World Cup held in Qatar.

Speaking ahead of PSG’s Ligue 1 tie with Angers on Wednesday night, Galtier said on Tuesday at his pre-match press conference: “I am not the national team coach. I am not going to get involved in the France captain discussion.

“Sometimes, the France captain is of a certain age with a certain number of caps.

“Kylian Mbappe has got many under his belt and many incredible performances. I have not spoken to Kylian Mbappe about whether he’ll be the France captain or not.

“Of course, that is a huge responsibility. It’s not me who will decide who the captain will be. Even without the armband, he is a leader.”

Mbappe faces huge challenge if he becomes France captain, PSG coach says

Kylian Mbappe will be taking on “a huge responsibility” if he becomes the new France captain now, after Hugo Lloris retired from international football.

That is the verdict of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) head coach Christophe Galtier, who steered clear of either recommending the role to Mbappe or putting any pressure on national coach Didier Deschamps.

At the age of 24, Mbappe has already won 66 caps for Les Bleus, scoring 36 goals in the process.

He won the FIFA World Cup in 2018 and scored a hat-trick against Argentina in the 2022 final in Qatar, but he painfully finished on the losing team.

PSG striker Mbappe appears an obvious candidate, but he may not aspire to the captaincy, which Lloris held for 10 years.

Manchester United defender Raphael Varane is another strong contender for the role, according to reports in France, having served as vice-captain at the Qatar World Cup.

Galtier said on Tuesday: “I’m not the national team coach. I’m not going to get involved in the France captain discussion.

“Sometimes, the France captain is of a certain age with a certain number of caps.

“Kylian Mbappe has got many under his belt and many incredible performances. I haven’t spoken to Kylian Mbappe about whether he will be the France captain or not.

“Of course, that is a huge responsibility. It is not me who will decide who the captain will be. Even without the armband, he is a leader.”

I want Messi to return to Barca – Laporta

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has declared he wants to bring back Lionel Messi from Paris Saint-Germain.

Messi, 35, is off contract at PSG in June, though there’s claims he has informed the Parisians he wants to stay next season.

Laporta, meanwhile, said today: “I want him to return to Barca, I want that. But it is not something that we can expect. He has just won the World Cup and that has made ‘Culés’ very happy because he has fought for it.

“For us, he is the best player of all time. The club is in his heart and he will always be linked to Barca regardless of whether he returns as a player or not.

“He is now a PSG player. But we would very much like him to return to Barca, so we have to look at it.”

  • Real Madrid prepares €1 billion to snap Mbappe from PSG

Real Madrid prepares €1 billion to snap Mbappe from PSG

Real Madrid has revealed its readiness to splash the whooping sum of €1 billion to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain next season.

Mbappe scored eight goals to emerge the highest goal scorer and claimed the golden boot at the just concluded FIFA world Cup in Qatar.

The PSG forward also became the first player to score a hatrick in the final in 56 years.

PSG have already hinted on letting Mbappe go after the season but it remains unclear if the French man is headed to Real Madrid.

Mbappe has always indicated interest in playing for Liverpool but the English side is not showing any sign of matching his fee and buy out clause from PSG.

Real Madrid had  already submitted three bids, the highest of which was €200 million, in the summer of 2021.

Few months back, Mbappe  committed his future to PSG by signing a huge two-year contract with the option of a third.

But the former Monaco youngster has looked every bit a Los Blancos player ever since he burst onto the scene and it seems Madrid president Florentino Perez will do absolutely anything to have him play for Los Blancos.

In fact, Gazzetta reports the La Liga giants are willing to fork out an overall fee of £877 million over a four-year period.

A large chunk of the sum would be the wages, which are said to be a whopping £552 million, as well as a £132 million transfer fee and other signing-on and commission fees.

Mbappe is out of contract in 2024 and could walk away from PSG if he wishes as the final year is entirely optional.

  • World Cup hero, Messi to stay with PSG for another year

World Cup hero, Messi to stay with PSG for another year

Argentinian World Cup winner, Lionel Messi is planning to play another year for Paris Saint-Germain, French daily Le Parisien reported on Wednesday.

The club reached a basic agreement with Jorge Messi, the superstar’s father, and agent, on an extension by at least one season of his current contract, set to expire in the summer of 2023.

Messi moved to PSG from FC Barcelona in 2021. The Argentinian has repeatedly said he would decide on his future after the World Cup in Qatar.

Messi has reportedly been in talks with MLS franchise Inter Miami and repeatedly linked with a return to Barcelona.

Qatar-backed PSG however has the greatest financial resources.

Messi helped Argentina win their third world title in Qatar, where on Sunday they defeated defending champions France 4-2 on penalties after a 3-3 deadlock.

  • Real Madrid plan to sign Kylian Mbappe for €1bn

Real Madrid plan to sign Kylian Mbappe for €1bn

La Liga giants Real Madrid spy a new chance to prise Kylian Mbappe away from Ligue side Paris Saint-Germain.

Real president Florentino Perez was already counting on his arrival ahead of the 2022/23 season, but at the last minute the player rejected the proposal and stayed in France.

This left a bad feeling in the Spanish capital, and it seemed that the possibility of seeing Mbappe in white was completely gone.

However, Real Madrid may have already forgiven Mbappe, as La Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that the Spanish side have one billion euros ready to sign the French star in the summer of 2023.

It is being claimed that Real Madrid would pay 150m euros for the transfer, 630m euros in salary and 220m euros in commissions.

Nothing has been confirmed in Madrid, and it is hard to believe that the club would pay so much money for a player, and even more so when Florentino Perez felt betrayed by the sudden change of decision in the summer of 2022.

Still, Mbappe is set to be the star of the next decade and Real Madrid to like to have the best in the world wearing white.

    I don’t think I’ll play much longer – Messi

Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi admits he’s coming to the end of his career.

The Barcelona great’s current PSG deal expires in June.

Ahead of leading Argentina at the World Cup, 35-year-old Messi spoke with former national teammate Ezequiel Lavezzi for Conmebol.

“I love soccer, I love playing it and I enjoy it, the only thing I’ve done all my life is play soccer and I’m sure that I will stay connected when I stop, although I don’t know what. I don’t think I’ll play much longer,” he said.

Asked about playing his final days with Rosario Central, Messi also said: “I don’t know, so many things happen… It was a dream I always had as a child, to be able to play in Argentine soccer.

“But today it depends on many things, I have my family, three children, I just had a very big change in my life that cost me and my whole family a lot. Today I got over it and we feel spectacular.”

  • Guardiola did a lot of harm to football – Messi

Guardiola did a lot of harm to football – Messi

Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi feels Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has harmed the game.

The Argentine forward played some of his best football under the guidance of Guardiola at Barcelona in what is widely regarded as the best club side in history.

Speaking during an interview with Universo Valdano, he recalled his time at Barcelona with Guardiola.

“Guardiola did football a lot of harm because everything we did seemed very simple and everyone wanted to copy him,” Messi remarked.

“After that period I’ve met a lot of Guardiola-style teams and then you realise what we did.

“Pep has something special to prepare the games, to see them, to analyse them and to communicate.”

  • Ligue 1: Red hot Nigerian striker, Moffi scores against PSG

Ligue 1: Red hot Nigerian striker, Moffi scores against PSG

On-form Super Eagles forward, Terem Moffi has scored his ninth goal of the campaign in Lorient’s 2-1 defeat to champions, Paris Saint-Germain in the French Ligue 1.

Brazil forward, Neymar gave PSG the lead inside nine minutes of the encounter.

However, Moffi leveled up for the home side eight minutes into the second half.

The mercurial striker in his usual style meandered through the PSG defense before slotting the ball with his left foot to equalize for Lorient.

But Danilo Pereiro scored the winner for the away team nine minutes from time to gift PSG the maximum three points in the encounter.

Moffi is now the third-highest goal scorer in the French Ligue 1 behind PSG’s Neymar and Mbappe both on eleven goals apiece.
