  • Arteta calls Thiago Silva directly about Arsenal move

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has spoken directly with departing PSG captain Thiago Silva about a move to London.

It’s been confirmed by PSG that Thiago Silva will leave the club at the end of the season – he is currently finalising a short-term deal to cover the French Cup final and remainder of the Champions League.

Thiago Silva is a target for Everton, where his former PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti is keen. However, Arteta has jumped into the battle – thanks to David Luiz.

Luiz is urging Arteta to move for his Brazil teammate.

And Le 10 Sport says Luiz passed on Thiago Silva’s number to Arteta, who has since called the veteran defender to discuss a potential move to Arsenal.

PSG confirm three players tests positive for coronavirus

Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed three players and one member of staff have tested positive for coronavirus.

The Ligue 1 champions, who were crowned in April after the remainder of season was cancelled and positions decided on a points-per-game basis because of the coronavirus pandemic, are due to return to training ahead of the Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue finals and the resumption of the Champions League.

Thomas Tuchel’s men are through to the last eight of the Champions League, which will be finished in a tournament in Lisbon in August.

  • PSG star Neymar ordered to pay back €6.7m to Barca

PSG star Neymar ordered to pay back €6.7m to Barca

Paris St-Germain star Neymar must pay 6.7m euros (£6.1m) to former club Barcelona, a Spanish court has ruled.

The Brazil international claimed he was owed 43.6m euros in loyalty bonuses by Barcelona, who he left in August 2017.

A judge ruled in favour of the La Liga side but 28-year-old Neymar, who filed the lawsuit shortly after the transfer, can appeal against the decision.

Barcelona said they “welcomed” the judgement and would “continue to firmly defend its legitimate interests”.

The Brazil forward also made a complaint to world governing body Fifa after Barca refused to pay him following his 222m euros (£200m) move in 2017.

As well as not paying Neymar, Barcelona started legal proceedings against him to pay back £8m he received when he signed a new deal with them in 2016.

Fifa did not take any action, saying it would leave the case to the courts.

I want Barcelona return, Neymar tells teammates

Neymar has told PSG teammates he wants to return to Barcelona.

Mundo Deportivo says Neymar feels it’s time to leave PSG and has told several senior teammates of his plans.

Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu is still pursuing plans to bring Neymar back to Barca for next season – despite the price involved.

And it’s been revealed he failed with an August offer for the Brazil captain.

Barca tabled a bid of €130m cash plus Ivan Rakitic, Jean-Clair Todibo and Ousmane Dembele in exchange for Neymar – but PSG turned it down.

However, Bartomeu will try again this summer knowing Neymar has already resisted PSG’s attempts this year to secure him to a new €100m-plus contract.

Transfer: Man Utd prepared to sell Pogba to PSG

Manchester United are prepared to sell Paul Pogba to PSG this summer.

The Daily Star says United will tell PSG to stump up around £130m if they want to sign Pogba.

The French champions have been linked with a move for the World Cup winning midfielder as speculation about his Old Trafford future continues to mount.

Reports claim Pogba is open to the idea of joining PSG, who could be willing to hand him a bumper contract worth in excess of £400,000-a-week.

It is claimed Pogba would like to link-up with PSG superstars Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and former United player Angel Di Maria.

Pogba has been repeatedly linked with a move away from Old Trafford since last summer after he admitted that he was keen on a ‘new challenge’.

PSG signs Mauro Icardi on a permanent deal

French club, Paris St Germain (PSG) on Sunday signed striker Mauro Icardi on a permanent deal from Inter Milan.

The 27-year-old footballer joined PSG in September on a season-long loan with a buy-out option.

“FC Internazionale Milano announces the transfer of Mauro Icardi to Paris Saint-Germain FC; the striker, born in 1993, has permanently moved to the French club.

“The club thanks the player for the six seasons he spent with us and wishes him the best for his future professional career,” Inter said in a statement.

Icardi scored 20 goals in 31 matches in all competitions before the season was officially concluded on April 30, with 10 games remaining due to the COVID-19 crisis.

He has been competing for a place in the side with Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani, PSG’s all-time top scorer, whose contract expired on June 30.

  • I’ll forgive Neymar if he comes back, says ex-Barca president

I’ll forgive Neymar if he comes back, says ex-Barca president

Former Barcelona president Joan Gaspart has declared he’d “forgive” Neymar if he was return to the club.

Barca are planning an offer for the PSG attacker and Gaspert says despite a bitter split, the Brazilian should be forgiven and welcomed back.

He declared: “I would love to see Neymar at Barça.

“I understand that he can still contribute. What I don’t know is the fine print. I forgive whatever it takes to get him back. I would like him to play for Barça.”

On the LaLiga resuming, Gaspart added: “If Madrid had finished as leader before the confinement, LaLiga would have ended.”

  • Neymar rejects €100M PSG bonus over Barca move

Neymar rejects €100M PSG bonus over Barca move

PSG star Neymar is doing all he can to engineer a return to Barcelona – including the rejection of a €100 MILLION bonus from the Parisians.

Mundo Deportivo says Neymar is refusing to enter new contract talks with PSG, this despite the offer of a €100m ‘signing-on’ bonus on top of an improvement of his current wages.

Instead, Neymar remains hopeful of returning to Barca this summer – and has let it be known he’d be willing to do so on his previous 2017 salary. Such a gesture would mean the Brazil captain accepting a greater than 50 per cent cut on his present PSG wages.

Neymar earns over €50m-a-year with PSG via wages and commercial agreements tied to the club.

With the French season now abandoned, Neymar remains in Brazil, where he has been residing in his mansion in Mangaratiba, in Rio de Janeiro, since March 14.

  • PSG crowned Ligue 1 champions

Paris St-Germain have been awarded the Ligue 1 title after it was announced the season would not resume because of the coronavirus pandemic.

PSG were 12 points clear at the top of the table, with a game in hand, when French football was suspended indefinitely on 13 March.

Earlier this week the French government cancelled the 2019-20 sporting season.

  • PSG to be crowned as Ligue 1 champions

Paris St Germain moved within a fingertip of being crowned Ligue 1 champions when the French league recommended to freeze the 2019-20 standings amid the COVID-19 crisis on Thursday, French sports daily L’Equipe reported.

According to the newspaper, the LFP’s board will ratify the recommendation on Thursday afternoon and effectively hand PSG their seventh title in the last eight years.

The decision would mean that second-placed Olympique de Marseille and third-placed Stade Rennais would be in next season’s Champions League with PSG. Lille, Stade de Reims and Nice would qualify for the Europa League.

Amiens and Toulouse would be relegated with Ligue 2 leaders Lorient, and second-placed Lend, promoted to the elite.

“I think we have to accept the decisions that have been taken, in all sports and in all countries,” said PSG defender Thilo Kehrer on the club’s website earlier this week.

“I think the teams that are at the top of their leagues at the moment deserve to be there. If the decision is taken to call an end to the season then the title will be deserved too.”

The LFP was not immediately available for comment.
