2027: Kwankwaso currently has no platform to run against Tinubu – NNPP

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) says its 2023 presidential candidate, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso do not have its platform for contest against President Bola Tinubu and or  any other  presidential  candidate at the moment in 2027.

The NNPP  National Chairman,  Dr Agbo Major made this known in a statement  on Saturday.

Major was speaking on the backdrop of claims by Elder Buba Galadima that Kwankwaso will stay and run for presidency on the NNPP platform.

Galadima, who claimed that there is no evidence that Kwankwaso is joining the All Progressives Congress as speculated, said they would “strategically stay in the NNPP until the whistle is blown for 2027  politics”  urging Nigerians to support Kwankwaso to take over as president.

Agbo stated that the NNPP platform is closed to Kwankwaso and Galadima, who had long been expelled from its fold for anti party activities.

‘The NNPP had long expelled Kwankwaso and Galadima and so,  they no longer speak for us nor can they use our platform for any political contest.

“Our Memorandum of Understanding with the Kwankwasiya Movement, led by Kwankwaso ended shortly after the 2023 presidential election.

“We cannot even allow Kwankwaso for whatever reason to return on the NNPP fold because of the problems and internal wranglings he created for us.

“Kwankwaso  led us into unnecessary litigations and even changed our party logo to the Kwankwasiya logo, all in an attempt to hijack the leadership of the party.

“It was the Court’s interventions that led to INEC changing back to our Logo that they submitted after a Kangaroo convention in Abuja,” he said.

He said that Kwankwaso must be counting on another free ticket like he got for the 2023 presidential election but it would not happen again.

“Certainly, Kwankwaso  can never join any political party where he will not have the chance of leadership.

“Kwankwaso and his group remain expelled and we will not readmit them because they betrayed our trust massively.

“He does not have the pedigree to match President Tinubu in any contest and so his ambition is dead on arrival,” he said.

The NNPP chairman insisted that though it is Kwankwaso’s right as a Nigerian to seek to contest for any office, he should do so without getting the party involved in any of his antagonisms against the President.

He disclosed that the NNPP is being approached by some intending aspirants and  shall dwell on that at the appropriate time.

“Whoever will emerge as the NNPP 2027 presidential candidate will do so, following due process and constitutionality.

“We will no longer handover our ticket on a platter of gold, and definitely not to someone who betrayed our trust and is no longer on the party,” Major  added.

He urged Nigerians to disregard utterances against the Presidency and APC by Kwankwaso and his group,  claiming they are speaking  for the  NNPP.

“The NNPP as a party believes in constructive criticisms of issues and not against personalities or other political parties. We advise Kwankwaso to float his own party and use it for his own agenda.

“NNPP has moved on and can’t be dragged into unnecessary controversies again,” he added.

NNPP reacts over reports on Kwankwaso’s defection

The New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State has denied reports that Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso is planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Chairman of the party in the state, Alhaji Hashimu Dungurawa, said this while briefing newsmen on Friday in Kano.

Dungurawa said that Kwankwaso did not need to consult anyone before making any political decision, but emphasised that there were no plans for defection.

“We have no business with APC, and do not have any intention to defect,” Dungurawa said, dismissing the rumours as mere mischief.

He described the speculation as baseless and motivated by desperation.

He expressed confidence that the NNPP administration in Kano State is taking shape and restoring law and order in the area.

Chairman of APC in Kano State was quoted by the media as saying that the party’s door was open to Kwankwaso and other Nigerians who wished to defect.

Intrigues as Kano APC awaits Kwankwaso’s defection

The All Progressives Congress(APC) in Kano State says the speculated impending defection of Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso to the party is a welcome development.

The Chairman of the party, Alhaji  Abdullahi Abbas, stated this while addressing a press briefing in Kano on Friday.

“APC as a political Institution in its Renewed Hope Agenda has embarked on the project of receiving decampees from all political parties.

“Of recent, the attention of the party has been drawn to speculations of the impending decamping of the leader of the expelled faction of the NNPP, Sen. Kwankwaso, into the party.

“This is a welcome development, especially given the fact that the APC remains his last political refuge as he has successfully destroyed his relations with all other political groupings in the country.

“Without prejudice to our desire as a party to welcome new entrants and in respect of the constitutional rights of citizens to belong to political parties of their choice.

“We wish to state our position as a state chapter of our great party in Kano state,”Abbas said.

He said the party had already directed its ward chapters to open registers for new decampees irrespective of their political and social statures is in line with the party’s constitution.

“We advise all those desirous of joining our esteemed party to go to their respective wards and register.

“Also, we want to assure our elected party officials from the ward, local government, senatorial and state levels that they will continue to function as provided by the tenure of their office in the party constitution.

“For the purpose of seeking any future party or elective position, any old or new entrants, shall be free to exercise his/her constitutional rights of voting or being voted for without any special preference,” the chairman said.

He, however, said that the party was fully aware that some people were desperate to join the APC.

Abbas said, “This is because they have scuttled their political goodwill and have become political lepers in the national scheme of things and are looking to the APC for political relevance.”

“For the avoidance of doubt, let me emphasise that the APC as a political party does not and will not encourage or promote the existence of cult-like associations in the name of political activities or groupings.

“We unequivocally call on all those prospective decampees who have earlier made derogatory statements against our leaders, President Bola  Tinubu and his Vice, Sen.Kashim Shettima to offer a public apology.”

“This should be done as a sign of remorse, and respect for future relationships,” he added.

Kwankwaso told to stop denigrating Atiku

The Nigerian Youths for Atiku (NYFA) has urged Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso, the 2023 President Candidate of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) to stop attacking the reputation of  former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

The Director of Communications of NYFA (Nigeria & Diaspora), Mr Dare Dada, made the call  in a statement on Friday in Lagos.

Dada spoke against the background of a recent  media interview granted by Kwankwaso, in which he  accused Abubakar, the 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), of peddling lies at 80 years of age.

Kwankwaso,in the interview, had  claimed that  Abubakar’s camp had falsely told some Northern elders that the ex-VP  had reached  an agreement with him  and  the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi, to take turns at the presidency from 2027.

Dada , who described the   claim  as untrue, said that the former vice president was not a problem to Kwankwaso’s presidential ambition.

“It is so sad that someone of Kwankwanso calibre will make frantic efforts to denigrate the person of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President of Nigeria, just to score some cheap political points.

“The former Vice- President needs no validation from him to be relevant politically as far as the Nigerian political space is concerned.

“Engaging in such level of falsehood just to make a point is not only ridiculous but demeaning,” Dada said.

He said that such attacks on opposition figures were not good at this time when opposition leaders were supposed to be strategising on an alliance to give Nigerians a better deal in 2027.

Dada said that opposition leaders must shun divisive tendencies and rhetorics, capable of undermining the unity and progress needed in the nation.

The youth leader urged Kwankwaso to rather dissipate energy on issues confronting the Northern Nigeria and speak up.

He added: “The youth of this nation are determined to stand for integrity and ensure that politics of deceit and manipulation are relegated to the past.

“It is our collective belief that politics of honesty and integrity will always triumph over self-serving lies.

“The NYFA remains committed to supporting visionary leaders like Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who prioritise national development and the well-being of all Nigerians over personal ambition.”

Why Nigerians will change APC  in 2027 – Kwankwaso

The  2023 Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has said with the current situation of things in the country, Nigerians will push for change in 2027.

Kwankwaso said this while receiving a large number of the All Progressives Congress (APC) members who decamped to to the NNPP in the state.

He said, “Nigerians, more specifically northerners, have suffered enough and no amount of pressure or intimidation will change their minds.

“Nigerians should rethink over the current dispensation, it has now become clear that the APC-led government is clearly against the poor masses and will never change.

“It is now clear that regardless of their beliefs and plans to use the security agents and INEC in the forthcoming elections, it will not be possible as Nigerians are tired and will surely struggle for change” Kwankwaso stated.

He described the occasion as historic, stating that the number of those joining the NNPP from the wards of Dala, Kiru, Gwale and Dawakintofa local governments, shows that the APC structure is completely crumbled in the affected places.

He said the APC which created to salvage the hardship of the poor masses has now turned against them with insecurity and poverty eating deep into the fabric of Nigeria saying, “Nigerians are tired,” he added.

PDP is dead; I will win 2027 presidential election – Kwankwaso

National leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso has said he will win the 2027 presidential election. Kwankwaso, the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, made the outburst on Saturday when he inaugurated the NNPP Secretariat, along IBB Way, Katsina.

He was in Katsina for a condolence visit to the Yar’adua’s family over the death of their matriarch, Hajiya Dada.

According to him, the party is ready to take over the presidency, states and other positions across the country come 2027. He explained that the party was heading towards success in the 2027 General Elections.

The Kwankwasiya leader said, “I wish to remind you that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is already dead, because we were in the party, since they have gone out of the line, we decided to check out.”

He called on Nigerians, especially women and youths not to allow themselves to be ‘deceived with spaghetti or money during the next elections.’ Kwankwaso also called on the party’s leaders to redouble their commitment towards the success of the party in the state and the country as a whole.

He commended them and other stakeholders in the state for renovating the state secretariat, saying that it is part of preparations towards success. The NNPP leader also pledged to support a little boy, Abubakar Ibrahim of Yammawa area of the state, who suffers from severe acute malnutrition

Also speaking, the NNPP state Chairman, Alhaji Armaya’u Abdulkadir, said the party was doing everything possible to enlighten the electorate on the party’s new logo. According to him, the new logo is symbolising education for all, which is the most concerned area of the Kwankwasiyya leader.

He said, ”There is the need for the party to embark on grassroots sensitisation to inform the members on the importance of the new logo.”

Shun protest, hardship should be resolved through ballot— Kwankwaso tells Nigerians

Ex-governor of Kano State and the 2023 presidential candidate of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, has called on Nigerians to employ the power of the ballot box to resolve the current economic hardship in the country.

Kwankwaso spoke on the background of a planned nationwide hunger and hardship protests by Nigerians.

In a statement published on his official X handle on Saturday, Kwankwaso said although the idea of a protest resonates with him, Nigerians should rather be patient with the Bola Tinubu government, and give it all necessary support to succeed.

“Today, I speak to you not just as an elder and a concerned citizen but as someone who deeply believes in the power and potential of our great nation. The recent calls for protests against bad governance resonate with me, as they reflect our collective frustration and yearning for a better Nigeria.

“However, I urge Nigerians to put our country first before any other consideration by way of being patient with the government and giving it all necessary support to succeed.

“If any government fails to provide the necessary leadership for better Nigeria, we will have opportunity as citizens to elect the people who can bring the required change using our votes.

“In these trying times, our nation stands at a crossroads. Our collective frustration with bad governance has reached a boiling point, and the urge to protest is strong.

“As an elder and patriotic Nigerian, I share your concerns and your desire for change. However, I urge you to consider the consequences of national protests and to channel your energy into a more effective and peaceful means of transformation—through the power of your ballot. “Protests, while a fundamental democratic right, often come with unforeseen and dire consequences. The tragic events of the past have shown us that protests can escalate into violence, leading to loss of lives, destruction of property, and widespread chaos. The repercussions of such actions extend far beyond the immediate moment, leaving scars on our communities and deepening divisions among us.

He traced the current economic crisis to bad leadership, saying that the hardship and hunger spreading across the country was avoidable.

He said, “We found ourselves in avoidable hardship because our leaders missed some steps since 2007. However, there is always room for correction and setting the country on the right track for economic development, prosperity and better welfare of citizens.

“This could be achieved through ensuring good governance, respect for the rule of law, transparency and accountability. It is sad to note that the attitude of our leaders to poor governance plunged the citizens, especially youth, into anger, hunger, insecurity, hopelessness and giving up on the country.

Alleged Fraud: Submit yourself to EFCC – NNPP chieftain tells Kwankwaso

National Secretary of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Oginni Olaposi Sunday, the lambasted the 2023 presidential candidate of the party for securing an order from the Kano State High Court to stop his invitation, arrest and prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).

Oginni while addressing journalists in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, said the court order that Kwankwaso procured was too weak to protect him from the long arm of the law.

He noted that the magnitude of unprecedented corruption by successive governments and politicians in Nigeria had made nonsense of the nation’s democracy.

Oginni, who frowned at Kwankwaso’s decision to rush to court for protection, made it clear that as a law-abiding political party, NNPP approached the relevant government agency responsible for dealing with corruption in Nigeria.

He further urged Kwankwa to voluntarily submit himself to the anti-graft agency rather than unnecessary confrontation like the embattled former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.

He said, “The continuous resistance of former governors to EFCC’s investigations is becoming worrisome.

“It is on record that the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) through its National Secretary, Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday has requested that the EFCC should investigate Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and other party officers on the money collected by the party from the sales of nomination forms and campaign funds donations for the 2023 general elections, which was allegedly stolen by Senator Kwankwaso and his cohorts.

“In a dramatic reaction to the imminent EFCC’s investigation, Senator Kwankwaso rushed to the Kano State High Court to ‘procure’ an order to stop the anti-graft agency from inviting him and other alleged corrupt officers for investigation, the same manner in which Yahaya Bello, the immediate past Governor of Kogi State is trying to use Court to frustrate EFCC’s prosecution.

“Nigerians cannot forget in hurry that Yahaya Bello also used Kogi State High Court to ‘procure’ a frivolous order similar to what Senator Kwankwaso also ‘procured’ from Kano State High Court to frustrate EFCC’s investigation and arrest.

“We cannot teach the EFCC how to discharge its job. I am very sure that the anti-graft agency is up to the task.

“If Senator Kwankwaso and his defunct NWC are as clean as they pretended to be, they have no reason to run away from the EFCC’s investigation.

“The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) is hereby calling on well-meaning Nigerians to prevail on Senator Kwankwaso to voluntarily submit himself to the EFCC.

“It’s more honourable for him to peacefully engage EFCC than unnecessary confrontation like Yahaya Bello”.

  • How Kwankwaso betrayed my trust – NNPP founder

How Kwankwaso betrayed my trust – NNPP founder

The founder of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Dr Boniface Aniebonam, says the move by Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso and the Kwankwasaya Movement to hijack the party structure is a betrayal of trust.

Speaking at a news conference in Lagos on Friday, Aniebonam said he gave Kwankwaso the platform of the party to achieve his political ambition of becoming Nigeria’s president on a platter of gold.

Aniebonam said he singlehandedly registered and nurtured the NNPP from 2002 until 2022 when Kwankwaso and his team approached him to fly the flag of the party in the 2023 presidential election.

He said: “Buba Galadima led the delegation, including Sen. Suleiman Hunkuyi and Prof. Sam Angai to my country home in Anambra, to plead for us to accept Kwankwaso in NNPP.

“After the talks, I placed a call to Kwankwaso and after asking him questions about his intentions for Nigeria, I offered him the platform of NNPP as its sole candidate.

“I believed that Kwankwaso was not aware of the internal crisis in the party until he came out openly on live television, displaying a new logo and flag for the NNPP and mutilating its constitution.

“It is disturbing and if I continue to keep quiet, it will not be in the interest of the soul of the party as the founder and at some point, its board chairman.

“The party’s constitution says the founder is a life member of the board and even when I’m alive, my brother and good friend, Kwankwaso, for whatever reasons, is destroying the party I built from 2002 to 2022 when he joined us to contest the 2023 presidency.”

According to him, “I funded the party for 22 years and Kwankwaso wants to hijack it even when he is not a member of the board of the trustees or the leader of the party.

Aniebonam said he founded NNPP after he founded the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) and NAGAFF, therefore, is the parent body of the NNPP.

He recalled that Kwankwaso and others were expelled from the party for anti-party activities but as a life member of the board with inherent powers, he would grant him pardon if he purged himself of what he is doing.

“The kangaroo convention even when there was a court order stopping it, is null and void because a Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday, ruled that NNPP issue is an internal crisis.

“This means that the issues can only be settled using the constitution. However, we are ready to pursue the interpretation of the constitution up to the Supreme Court.”

The NNPP founder said with this singular action, Kwankwaso would no longer enjoy the sole candidacy of the NNPP should he even be pardoned.

  • NNPP is best alternative for Nigerians – Kwankwaso

NNPP is best alternative for Nigerians – Kwankwaso

Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the National Leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), says the party is the best alternative for Nigerians over the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Kwankwaso, a former Minister of Defence, said this at the NNPP National Convention on Saturday in Abuja.

“In many parts of this country, especially in the North particularly in my own part of the North, so many people have been chased out of their homes and many have been killed.

“Some are in the bushes now in the forest under the forces of bandits and other criminals. And looks like many people don’t care.

“I believe it is only in this country that this sort of nonsense is happening. It is the responsibility of every government, responsible government to ensure peace of its people, “ he said.

Kwankwaso said that as former Miinister of Defence and a governor, he believed that Nigeria had the enough resources and manpower to ensure security for citizens, as well as build stronger and united country.

He congratulated the party for its achievements within a very short time of its formation and lauded stakeholders for speedy amendment of its constitution, slogan and logo from the National Convention.

He said that the development would pave way for its victory in future elections.

“Even my humble self, I found it very difficult to identify our logo during the last general election. That was why we thought it is very important for us to have a brand new logo for our party.

“In our party today we have this logo. You can see new Nigeria People’s Party written very clearly and NNPP very boldly.

“I believe that in the next elections nobody will be confused about our logo.

“That is why we now have in our logo a book and academic chapter. And of course by the side of the book it is written education for all, meaning we will do whatever it takes like we did in Kano and elsewhere to ensure that every child in Nigeria goes to school,” he said.

Kwankwaso added:“We have taken note of the challenges of the day because in many states, especially in northern Nigeria, our children are not going to schools now because of insecurity, because of poverty and so on and so forth.

“So by implication, we are saying we will do whatever it takes to ensure security, and poverty are eradicated.

“We have all what it takes to do that, so that our education can flourish, so that every child will go to school, from primary to tertiary institution.”

He commended the party for electing him as its National Leader, pledging to ensure unity fairness and all party members.

“All our members will continue to have an internal democracy within the party so that everybody is given an opportunity to attain his or her potential, “ he said.

On his part, Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State, urged NNPP members to remain united at all times in the pursuit of the party’s victory in all future elections.

Yusuf also urged the party members to rededicated themselves to the promotion of NNPP ideal and core values.

“Let us continue to reach out and mobilize more members to join our party. Our membership mobilization drive must even be even more vigorous.

“Finally, let me remind us of the old adage that says a people united can never be defeated,” he said.

Yusuf commended Kwankwaso for offering quality leadership and guidance to NNPP, making it to be third fastest growing political party in Nigeria.

The governor said that in spite of the over eight months litigation over his election, his administration had made some appreciable achievements in fulfilling its campaign promises to the people.

In his remarks, the NNPP Acting National Chairman, Mr Ajuji Ahmed, said that the party was not the party of the future, but a party of the present for the future, not owned by any individual or group of people.

Ahmed said that the NNPP had the key to the future for Nigerian youths and urged them to embrace the party and get register as members.

“Join the NNPP mass movement and help yourself to fulfil your current and future dreams,” he said.

Highlights of the convention which was observed by representative of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), were the approval of the party’s amended constitution, logo and slogan.
