Over 1,000 Ulamas pray for Tinubu, Kwankwaso in Kano

More than 1,000 Islamic clerics have offered special prayers for President Bola Tinubu and the NNPP National Leader, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, for peace, progress and political stability in the country.

Rep. Abdulmumin Kofa (NNPP-Kiru/Bebeji), who hosted the Ulamas at Kiru, for the success of Gov. Kabir Yusuf of Kano State at the Supreme Court.

This is contained in a statement issued by the lawmaker’s Media Aide, Malam Sani Paki, on Monday in Kano.

During the prayer session, the clerics recited the holy Qur’an 1,101 times and prayed for peace, progress and political stability in the country, the statement said.

In his brief remarks at the event, Kofa said his relationship with Tinubu is no secret, it stated.

He explained that Kwankwaso is his mentor and would continue to support and promote harmonious relationship between Tinubu and Kwankwaso.

Kofa said the NNPP is a very promising party and still opened to collaboration, alliance and merger with the APC and even with the PDP, LP or any other party that showed interest, so long as it is for the good of Nigerians.

He also promised to deploy his modest political network to reach out to gladiators in Kano politics towards resolving all resolvable issues and to de-escalate the current tension in the state as a result of the Kano governorship seat.

Also, after the prayer session, the legislator hosted 5,000 primary school kids across his constituency, as he often does, and provided them with school kits.
Kofa assured the pupils of the good plans of the federal and state governments, especially on free education and school feeding programmes, according to the statement.

  • Drama as NNPP expels BoT after Kwankwaso’s suspension

Drama as NNPP expels BoT after Kwankwaso’s suspension

A faction of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) on Tuesday expelled the Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), Dr Boniface Aniebonam, and several other national officers over alleged anti-party activities.

The National Publicity Secretary, Mr Agbo Major, and a host of other officials were affected by the sweep.

Its National Legal Adviser, Mr Robort Hon, who said this at the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, accused them of sabotaging NNPP.

Hon accused Aniebonam of creating a parallel group within the party with a view to causing disaffection in the party.

“At the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the NNPP held in Abuja today, August 29th, 2023, Dr Boniface Aniebonam, Agbo Major and several others were expelled from the party.

“The NEC also moved several other motions relating to the Logo of the party, the Amendment of the constitution, ratification of the state caretaker committees, and suspension of two Articles in the constitution of the NNPP 2022.

“At the meeting were Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State; the Acting National Chairman, Malam Abah-Kawu Ali; the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly; Engr. Buba Galadima and many others.

“NEC noted that these suspended persons (now expelled) purportedly held a Board of Trustees meeting in Apapa, Lagos, this morning. Naturally, their meeting was null and void and had no effect,” said the NNPP’ legal adviser.

He said that the party’s NEC upheld motions to extend the tenure of the acting national chairman, Malam Abah-Kawu Ali, and to redesign the party’s logo.

In his remarks, Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano state, said he would continue to work closely with Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso in his efforts to reposition the NNPP.

Also addressing the NEC, the National Secretary of the party, Mr Olayoku Dipo, said that the party was in the process of setting up a properly constituted BoT in line with its constitution.

Dipo said that the party’s leadership was planning to change NNPP’s logo, adding that the party’s fortune at the 2023 general elections was affected by the current logo.

Also, the NNPP BoT Secretary, Buba Galadima, commended the party’s NWC for its role in stabilising the party.

In an earlier development, the faction of the NNPP led by Aniebonam had suspended the party’s Presidential Candidate, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso at its meeting in Lagos.

The Secretary of the BoT, Malam Babayo Abdullahi, who announced the action, said that Kwankwaso had been suspended for six months over anti-party activities

Abdullahi also announced the suspension of the NWC of the party.

He said that the suspension was put to a voice vote by members of the party at the special general assembly in Lagos.

“The BoT also appointed new national officers headed by Dr Agbo Major as acting National Chairman and Comrade Ogini Olaposi as acting National Secretary, alongside about 18 others,” he said.

    BREAKING: NNPP suspends Kwankwaso

The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has suspended  Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso over what the BoT described as anti-party activities.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Kwankwaso was the presidential candidate of the NNPP in the February 2023 presidential election.

The NNPP BoT also suspended members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

Dr Agbo Major and Mr Ogini Olaposi were appointed as acting National Chairman and Acting National Secretary, respectively.

According to the BoT, Senator Kwankwaso’s suspension is expected to last for six months.

Addressing newsmen at the end of a meeting in Lagos on Tuesday, Secretary of the BoT, Babayo Muhammed Abdulahi accused Kwankwaso of hobnobbing with President Bola Tinubu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Mr. Peter Obi, without the board’s authorization.

Abdullahi announced that Kwankwaso had been stripped of the NNPP national leader status by the board.

The secretary of the BoT said the purported suspension of the NNPP founder was a flagrant gross violation of the party’s constitution.

He pointed out that Aniebonam had resigned as the BoT chairman and a new BoT Chairman, Dr Chief Tope Aluko was elected with Abdulahi as new BoT Secretary, while High Chief Tony Obioha was elected as BoT spokesperson.

Abdulahi said the pre-election Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Kwankwasia Movement, The National Movement (TNM) and National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders, (NAGAFF) had been rendered void by the actions of the NWC.

Abdulahi said: “The purported suspension of the founder is a flagrant gross violation of the NNPP constitution such that it is tantamount to recklessness and irresponsibility on the part of the incompetent NWC.

“The BoT decided that material evidence in the public sector affirmed that Kwankwaso was involved in anti-party activities in various meetings, suggest political discussions with the President, Atiku and Obi without authorisation from the board.

“This has earned him six months suspension pending the outcome of investigation by the Disciplinary Committee.

“The BOT insisted that the avoidable violation of MoU between NNPP on the one part and Kwankwasiyya, TNM and NAGAFF on the other has no other choice than to withdraw from the partnership.

“It is therefore to state clearly that the MoU have been rendered void,” he said.

  • Tinubu, Kwankwaso meet in France, discuss government of national unity

Tinubu, Kwankwaso meet in France, discuss government of national unity

The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Rabiu Kwankwaso in the just concluded 2023 elections  reportedly met  President-elect Bola Tinubu in France on Tuesday.

The parley held in the French capital, Paris, was reportedly brokered by Kwankwaso’s ally, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin, the House of Representatives member who defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the NNPP months before the 2023 general elections.

It was gathered that both Tinubu and Kwakwaso  met to discuss a government of inclusion and national unity.

It is also speculated that Tinubu may broker peace between Kwankwaso and his successor, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

Ganduje was Kwankwaso’s deputy throughout his tenure but the duo fell apart not long after the former became Kano’s helmsman.

Last July, the NNPP leader subtly endorsed Tinubu to emerge as Nigeria’s next leader, describing him as “a strategist.”

“Bola Tinubu is a strategist. I had reasons to sit with him an uncountable number of times from 1992 till date. I’m sohappy with that combination (Tinubu-Shettima); my only worry is the platform (APC),” Kwankwaso said at the time.

  • INEC fraudulently allocated numbers to Tinubu – Kwankwaso

INEC fraudulently allocated numbers to Tinubu – Kwankwaso

The New Nigeria Peoples Party, (NNPP), presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has posited that the alleged fraud committed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) led to the emergence of Bola Tinubu as the winner.

The Kano-born politician noted that INEC fraudulently allocated votes to Tinubu during the just-concluded presidential election in the country.

Kwanwkaso made his position known during an interview with BBC Hausa Service on Sunday in Kano.

According to him, Nigerians no longer loved the All Progressives Congress, (APC)

He noted that the NNPP has a bright future because “big politicians” are interested in the party.

Kwankwaso said : “Another interesting thing is that more people, particularly big politicians, are seriously indicating interest in our party, and they are willing to make necessary contributions to move the party forward. Take a look at our rivals, particularly the PDP.

“They are in a serious crisis, particularly as it concerns its leaders. In Kano State, some thought PDP will be of help to them, or game changer, but they were disappointed woefully. Same with the APC.

“All these votes you see INEC mentioned were fraudulently allocated to its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu. The truth is that Nigerians don’t like APC anymore, hence our party is the one that has the future.”

  • Atiku, Kwankwaso and the case of two biblical prostitutes – By Evaristus Bassey

Atiku, Kwankwaso and the case of two biblical prostitutes – By Evaristus Bassey

    By Evaristus Bassey

In the first Book of Kings, an event is recounted to portray the wisdom of King Solomon. Two prostitutes, living in the same apartment, gave birth to a male child each, two days apart. It happened that one of the prostitutes suffocated her child in her sleep, so she woke up and took the other woman’s child while the woman was asleep. The other woman woke up to a dead child as she tried to feed it. On looking more closely at the child, she realized it wasn’t hers. She then raised alarm and reported the matter to the king. At the royal court, both women laid claims to the living child, none giving in to the other, until King Solomon ordered for a sword so that the baby would be divided into two, for each woman to go home with one half. While one of the women begged the king not to kill the child but should give the child to the other woman, the one who was laying false claim insisted the child be dismembered. This led King Solomon to realize that the woman who wanted the child to live was the real mother and instructed that the child be handed over to her.

In applying the above biblical story to the political situation in Nigeria, the major presidential candidates of the north, His Excellency Atiku Abubakar and His Excellency Rabiu Kwankwaso can be likened to the woman who smothered her child in her sleep and was then laying claim to the other woman’s child. The north has had its turn at the presidency with Buhari’s eight years and yet is laying claim to the south’s turn through the major contenders just because they believe they can pull it through. Unfortunately, we do not really have a King Solomon to adjudicate.

There are many people who believe that the 2019 presidential elections were won by Atiku Abubakar but that he was prevailed upon by northern elders to soft pedal on the matter of claiming his mandate with a view to being given the seat on a platter through the 2023 elections. Atiku had to fight tooth and nail therefore to clinch the PDP nomination even though conventionally, since the north through Buhari was going to complete an unbroken 8-year tenure, the party should have picked someone from the south. There are many speculations concerning the role Governor Wike inadvertently played towards the emergence of Atiku. Some say Atiku advised that the ticket be zoned to the Southeast otherwise it should be fair game for anyone to contest but that Wike preferred that it be thrown open, believing that with the alliances he had built and with his war chest, he would clinch the nomination easily. If Atiku really did say so, he was probably giving an impossible condition so that the gates would be thrown open. From what we heard, Wike was quite ready. For while Atiku is alleged to have given ten thousand dollars per delegate, Wike allegedly gave fifteen thousand dollars to each delegate. Were not for the last-minute withdrawal of Gov. Tambuwal from the race, Wike would have clinched the PDP ticket.

There are many who would have frowned at the emergence of Wike who is from the South-South, after only eight years of Goodluck Jonathan’s descent from the seat of power. Some have used that to justify the emergence of Atiku Abubakar, since Wike used his war chest and clout to shut out other aspirants from the South especially the Southeast. It was this same line of argument that Senator Orji Uzor Kalu used in supporting a northerner to emerge as flag-bearer for the All Progressives Congress (APC), since the ticket wasn’t specifically zoned to the Southeast. In the case of APC, the Southeast zone hadn’t done much for the party to win in 2015; the region that was responsible for the emergence of Buhari as president in 2015 and largely in 2019 was the South-West. It would have taken much political gratuity which is not characteristic of Nigerian politicians, to zone the APC ticket to the Southeast. As long as it was the APC, the South-West looked set to clinch the ticket if it was zoned to the South. Even then, the cabal in APC projected Ahmed Lawan, a northerner as consensus candidate! It took Senator Tinubu’s political sagacity to make the northern governors led by Gov. El-Rufai, pull their weight behind a southern candidate, and when they did this, they ignored the sensibilities of most Nigerians by sidestepping Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the candidate that would have won them the elections without much controversy. We have Farooq Kperoggi to thank for his campaign against Osinbajo, calling him a religious bigot and anti-muslim. There are speculations that northern governors chose Tinubu to pave way for Atiku Abubakar to win easily, so that power could be retained in the north. Now Tinubu, with his Mu-Mu ticke, his health and age and other baggage, has become a hard sell to a cross section of Nigerians because of the emergence of His Excellency Peter Gregory Obi.

The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) on the other hand had no reason to not zone the ticket to the Southeast. The Southeast has been a major center of support to the party right from inception, and being that President Obasanjo from the Southwest had ruled, and President Goodluck Jonathan from the South-South had had a shot at the presidency, reasonable human beings should have restricted their choice of candidate to the Southeast. But trust Nigerian politicians to be greedy and unreasonable. Atiku manifested this greed by insisting to contest, and bringing all kinds of lame arguments to justify himself. There are many who speculate that Atiku’s declaration as president is guaranteed, as INEC is alleged to be part of the play book, but this is left to be seen.

In the above biblical story, the one sitting in place of King Solomon to give the ruling should be ordinary Nigerian citizens. But unfortunately, the citizenry is divided and has a scarcity of King Solomon’s wisdom. I do not blame northerners, especially ordinary Muslims for wanting to vote someone of their religion. It is their default orientation. The choice of Tinubu would have been easy for them but for the fact that there are doubts now that he is Muslim since on three different occasions, he could not recite a prayer which is recited everyday by practicing Muslims. Now instead of turning their support to Peter Obi, they would rather turn it towards either Atiku or Kwankwaso? My disappointment is with people in the south who are sticking to party loyalty to vote either Atiku or Kwankwaso when there is a very credible alternative in Peter Obi of the Labour Party. Those in the north jettison party affiliation when it doesn’t suit them, but those in the south stick to party affiliation even when it is against regional and national interests. The election of Atiku or Kwankwaso after eight years of President Buhari will not be in the national interest. Buhari polarized Nigerians so much and the panacea is not another northerner at this critical period, even if he is Christian. On the other hand, the election of Peter Gregory Obi of the Labour Party who happens to be from the Southeast, will heal many wounds and most importantly instill patriotism and hope into our teeming youths who are looking at 2023 elections as a major turning point for our country Nigeria. Nigeria needs to find a way to make rotational presidency constitutional if we want to remain truly as one nation unless some people just enjoy taunting and enslaving others.

2023 countdown (6): How Tinubu, Atiku, Obi, Kwankwaso stand – By Ehichioya Ezomon

It’s 19 days to the February 25 presidential poll, and there’s anxiety that a winner might not emerge among the 18 candidates on Election Day, resulting in a re-off for the two leading candidates.

The amended 1999 Constitution mandates that for a person to be declared the winner, they must score the highest number of votes cast, and obtain one-quarter (25 per cent) of votes in the 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Not surprising, each of the four leading candidates of the All Progressives Congress, Peoples Democratic Party, Labour Party and the New Nigeria Peoples Party is laying claim to winning at the first ballot on February 25.

Particularly cocksure of victory is LP’s Peter Obi who, sharing the ticket with Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, claims the 36 States and the FCT “are in the bag.”

The Obi-Datti campaign’s confidence is fueled by online polls that have projected Obi as ahead of the pack – with wide margins – were the election to be held during the pendency of the polls.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, on the platform of the PDP, were the first to boast to secure the Presidency at the first vote.

In a November 19, 2022, statement, Kola Ologbondiyan, spokesman for the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, said the Atiku-Okowa campaign “is confident that by every indices and data available, our candidate, Atiku Abubakar, will win the election of February 25, 2023 at the first run.”

“The campaign urges INEC to deploy its resources towards conducting a free, fair, transparent and credible election that will be generally accepted by majority of Nigerians,” Ologbondiyan said.

He asked the INEC “not to listen to diversionary narratives by apologists of All Progressives Congress (APC), who are ostensibly seeking ways to derail the election, having realised that their Party has been rejected.”

“We urge Nigerians to remain resolute in their choice, Atiku Abubakar, and take every step necessary within the ambit of the law to protect their votes, Ologbondiyan added.

The statement comes as reaction to INEC’s plan to print two sets of ballot papers – for a possible run-off election in case there’s no clear winner in the main poll.

At a November 18, 2022, roundtable with media Editors and Bureau Chiefs in Abuja, INEC’s Commissioner for Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, said the printing of two sets of ballot papers was a standard practice since 1999, in readiness for run-off elections (for President and Governor), in line with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution.

Former Lagos State Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu, contesting along with former Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima, came into the race with the viral “Emi lo kan” (It’s my turn) mantra.

Lately, he’s been projecting victory for his joint ticket following a whirlwind electioneering across the states, with a couple of the rallies held same day – the first candidate to do so this poll cycle.

As a boost for Tinubu, President Muhammadu Buhari’s iterated his commitment to the success of the Tinubu-Shettima ticket, and other APC candidates down the line.

Former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and his deputy candidate, Bishop Isaac Idahosa, hasn’t been as boisterous about victory as other candidates.

But relishing his underdog status in the race, Kwankwaso says the outcome of the poll “will shock Nigerians,” as he’ll defeat Tinubu, Atiku and Obi on Election Day.

Each of the candidates bandies his experience, competence, and capacity to get the job done; popularity and reach; and ability to unite a bitterly divided society.

As the hustlings move into the homestretch – with a few states yet to cover before the February 23 deadline – the candidates are flaunting the size of their rallies as a measure of acceptance by the electorate, and their chances of winning the election.

However, as a work in progress every week henceforth, let’s project the states that each of the leading candidates can win outrightly, the number of states leaning their way, and from those they can secure 25% based on the factors below:

Party structures in terms of voting pattern and the number of states controlled; representions at the legislatures; the dynamics at play at national and state levels; ethnic, sectional and religious biases; and the war chest available to the candidates for the campaigns.

But three principal developments may affect the outcome of the presidential poll. First is the entry of Obi on the LP platform, with the likelihood of sweeping the five South-East states occupied by the PDP, APC and All Progressives Grand Alliance.

Second is the APC Muslim-Muslim ticket of Tinubu and Shettima that has unsettled the Christian-Muslim, Muslim-Christian balance of power between Southern and Northern Nigeria since 1999.

And third is the division in the PDP between the leadership and five aggrieved governors (PDP-G5), who’ve distanced themselves from the party’s campaign council and the Atiku-Okowa ticket, and with two of the governors backing candidates of other parties.

Going into the election, the APC controls 21 states, the PDP 14 states, and the APGA one state.

Given the listed factors – and barring any political earthquake or a February surprise – Tinubu may receive 25% in 34 states and FCT, claim 16 states outrightly, and stand a 50% chance to pick all or some of six other states.

The states for Tinubu are: Borno, Cross River, Ekiti, Gombe, Kaduna, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Nasarawa, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Rivers, Sokoko, Yobe and Zamfara. And he can pick all or some of Bauchi, Edo, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Oyo and FCT.

Atiku may gain 25% threshold in all 36 states and FCT, win six states outrightly, and a 50% chance of securing additional seven states.

The states for Atiku are: Adamawa, A/Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Plateau and Taraba. He can pick Bauchi, Edo, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Oyo and FCT.

Obi can score 25% in 10 states, and win six, including Abia, Anambra, Benue, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo and FCT.

For Kwankwaso, he may secure 25% in four or five states and a bright chance to pick Kano State.

As stated earlier, the projection of the states likely to fall to the four leading presidential candidates is dynamic and a work in progress, which configuration may change by this time next week or in the last week before the February 25 poll.

MERGER: “There is no going back”- Peter Obi tells Nigerians

“Good Morning Nigeria. The march is on. There is no going back; no stopping; we must all work hand-in-hand. The journey to take back Nigeria is Now or Never”, the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, tweeted on Thursday morning following a disclosure by the standard bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku, in an interview with the BBC Hausa, disclosed that talks were ongoing between him, Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso (Presidential candidate of New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP) but did not reveal the nature of the talks or the terms of the agreement if any.

LP and the NNPP on Wednesday said their presidential candidates would not step down for Atiku.

The two opposition parties said this as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council advised Obi and Kwankwaso not to trust the ex-vice president (Atiku).

MERGER DISCUSSION: "There is no going back"- Peter Obi tells Nigerians

Commenting on the reported talks, the Spokesman of the APC Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo SAN, urged Nigerians to ignore the former vice-president, describing him as a man that cannot be trusted even by the leaders of his own party.

Speaking in a telephone conversation on Wednesday, Keyamo said, “Atiku is lying; he is not in talks with anyone. Atiku cannot be trusted and that is why he can’t keep his party together.

“He has not been able to reach an agreement with the aggrieved governors of his party because those governors know that he does not keep his word.

MERGER DISCUSSION: "There is no going back"- Peter Obi tells Nigerians

“Kwankwaso left PDP because he was humiliated in the North-West. The PDP treated Peter Obi badly and the man left. These are the men Atiku is giving the impression that they are ready to work with him. It is all lies.”

The Director-General of the LP Presidential Campaign Council, Akin Oshuntokun, in an interview in Abuja on Wednesday, said Obi had no intention of striking a deal with Atiku except the latter agreed to step down for the former Anambra State governor.

  • 2023 presidency: NNPP denies Kwankwaso met with Atiku

2023 presidency: NNPP denies Kwankwaso met with Atiku

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) says its Presidential Candidate, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, has neither met nor discussed with his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) opponent, Atiku Abubakar or his representatives, on any working relationship on 2023 presidential election.

The spokesperson, Kwankwaso/NNPP Presidential Campaign Council, Ladipo Johnson, disclosed this in a statement he issued on Wednesday in Abuja.

Johnson said that it was apparent that Kwankwaso was finishing the race stronger than other presidential candidates, especially Abubakar of the PDP.

He said this was clear as Abubakar seemed to be “gasping for air as his platform crumbles and is seeking a solid branch to hold on!”

Johnson said his response was important due to the statement by Abubakar that he was “in touch with Kwankwaso”.

He said the response was also key because of the false statements on social media that three million members of the Kwankwasiyya movement in the North East had moved to the PDP.

The spokesperson described it as orchestrated moves by Atiku’s campaign to pass a false and mischievous narrative to Nigerians that Kwankwaso was joining his team.

“The fact of the matter is that neither Atiku and Kwankwaso nor their representatives have met in private or at all to discuss any working relationship.

“They have only met during town hall meetings in the last few months!

“Nigerians will recall that earlier in the campaign the false narrative being pushed was that Kwankwaso was only strong in Kano!

“ He suddenly has three million members leaving him in the North East?”

Johnson reiterated that Kwankwaso was not stepping down for, nor working with any of the candidates or Atiku Abubakar.

“We are in this race to win and uplift the standard of living of all Nigerians.

“Opponents who have seen the ground game and the grassroots campaign of Kwankwaso now understand, 24 days to the polls, that the voters at the grassroots, the average man and woman, have decided to vote for Kwankwaso and the NNPP as their party of choice.”

2023 elections: I’m in talks with Kwankwaso, Peter Obi – Atiku

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections,  Atiku Abubakar says he is in touch with the presidential candidate of the New Nigerian People Party (NNPP) Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso for possible support.

In an interview with BBC Hausa service, Atiku said he is also holding talks with the Labour Party (LP) Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi.

He said the duo of Obi and Kwankwaso are not in any way a threat to his chances in the election.

“I see no threat because we are not together with them (Kwankwaso and Obi). We are in talk with them, one of them may possibly come,” he said.

On the lingering PDP Crisis, Atiku said, “Each party has its internal crisis, we are still talking with them. Most are neither in PDP nor in other parties and definitely that will not make us lose the election because we are okay with the election preparations for now.

“Elections now are not like in the past when a governor will dictate who to vote for, elections today are in the hands of the voters.”

The presidential candidate also promised to open all of Nigeria’s borders if elected president.
