Raheem Sterling sealed transfer deadline day move to Arsenal from Chelsea on Friday.

Arsenal’s Sporting Director, Edu on why he signed Sterling, said: “It makes a lot of sense to have someone like Raheem.

“He has experience, he understands more than anyone the league and he has played in the Champions League many times, so we really needed that”.

Sterling joined the Gunners on a season-long loan from Chelsea, with transfer now subject to the completion of regulatory processes.

“I am super excited to be signing for Arsenal. I can’t wait to see you all [Gunners] at the Emirates. It’s an amazing stadium. I can’t wait to see you guys to show you exactly what I can do,” Sterling said.

Beginning with making David Raya a permanent transfer back in early July, Arsenal signed young goalkeeper Tommy Setford and defender Riccardo Calafiori, before bringing in Spain midfielder Mikel Merino earlier this week.

Neto also arrived at Arsenal from Bournemouth on loan as Raheem Sterling.

In the same window, Emile Smith Rowe, Aaron Ramsdale and Eddie Nketiah all left the club permanently, while several others departed on loan.

EPL: Guardiola speaks highly of embattled Sterling, reacts to bringing him back to Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed his fondness for Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling, but has categorically ruled out the possibility of the 29-year-old returning to the Etihad Stadium.

Sterling, who joined Chelsea in a £47.5m deal in 2022, is reportedly seeking a departure from Stamford Bridge after being sidelined by new manager Enzo Maresca.

When questioned about a potential reunion with Sterling, Guardiola stated:

“He’s a Chelsea player, absolutely. I have a strong attachment to the time we shared with Raheem, and I wish him all the best.

However, he remains a Chelsea player, and I won’t consider bringing him back to Manchester City.”

Guardiola’s response highlights his affection for Sterling, but also his commitment to his current squad and reluctance to disrupt the team’s dynamics.

Jersey Drama: Sterling’s Chelsea future doubtful as Neto takes over his shirt

Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling has been stripped of his coveted No. 7 shirt, with new signing Pedro Neto being handed the iconic number for the upcoming season.

This decision comes as the Blues are open to listening to offers for Sterling, indicating a potential departure from the club.

Sterling had previously worn the No. 17 shirt after his move from Manchester City two years ago, before switching to the No. 7 shirt last season.

However, Neto, who made his debut against Manchester City on Sunday wearing the No. 19 shirt, will now take on the No. 7 jersey.

In another development, new signing Joao Felix will don the No. 14 shirt, which previously belonged to Trevoh Chalobah.

Chalobah has been informed in face-to-face talks with head coach Enzo Maresca that he is not part of the team’s plans for the upcoming season. Interestingly, Felix had worn the No. 14 shirt during his loan spell at Barcelona last season, and had previously worn the No. 11 shirt during his loan stint at Chelsea 18 months ago.

Awoniyi grabs brace as Forest hold Chelsea to frustrating draw

Nottingham Forest on Saturday held Chelsea FC to a frustrating 2:2 draw at Stamford Bridge with, Nigeria international, Taiwo Awoniyi grabbing a brace for the former two-time European champions.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Raheem Sterling scored both goals for Chelsea, whose winless home run stretched to six games.

Steve Cooper’s Forest team, however, ended a seven-game losing run on the road with the priceless point in their fight for Premier League survival.

Frank Lampard elected to promote Edouard Mendy to the starting line-up in place of Kepa Arrizabalaga, but the decision soon backfired, as the Senegal international came for Renan Lodi’s cross, missed, and Awoniyi gratefully headed home into an unprotected goal.

Rustiness perhaps came into play for a man who was making his first start in any competition for five months, but Chelsea briefly responded well to that early setback.

Only a couple of moments after Moussa Niakhate missed a golden chance to make it 2-0 to Nottingham Forest early in the second half, Lampard’s half-time team talk paid dividends, as Trevoh Chalobah got to the byline and cut back for an unmarked Sterling to fire home the equaliser in the 51st minute, albeit with the help of a significant deflection off of Ryan Yates.

Sterling’s leveller was his first top-flight goal since New Year’s Day – also against Forest at the City Ground – and as Chelsea began to take the game by the scruff of the neck, the 28-year-old soon doubled his tally for the afternoon in the 58th minute.

However, delight turned to dismay for the home crowd just four minutes after Sterling’s second, as Chelsea failed to deal with a long throw into the box, and the ball found its way to Orel Mangala to cross for Awoniyi’s second header of the afternoon.

It was the Nigerian international’s eighth Premier League goal of the season.

With two games remaining, Forest stay three points clear of the relegation zone in 16th place, while Chelsea have dropped below Crystal Palace into 12th thanks to the Eagles’ 2-0 win over Bournemouth.

The Blues now face a daunting assignment away at champions Manchester City next Sunday, while the Tricky Trees also face a title-challenging team in Arsenal at the City Ground on May 20.

Sterling ponders ending World Cup campaign after robbery attack

Chelsea attacker Raheem Sterling is prepared to delay his return to England’s World Cup camp in Qatar.

The Sun says Sterling will only re-join England’s World Cup squad when his family’s safety is guaranteed after they were the victims of a horrific burglary, it has been claimed.

Sterling’s Surrey mansion was targeted on Saturday night while he was preparing for England’s World Cup clash against Senegal in Qatar. The Chelsea star’s partner Paige and their young children were not in the property when the burglary unfolded.

The England international, 27, flew back to the UK on Sunday to comfort his family after the distressing incident. He missed England’s 3-0 win later that day and Gareth Southgate has confirmed Sterling will have “as much time as he needs” before re-joining the squad.

Sterling will prioritise his family’s safety before making a decision on whether to return to Qatar.

A source revealed: “Raheem has told everyone, ‘There is no way I’m going anywhere unless I’m 100 per cent sure that my family can be kept safe’.

“He is security conscious and part of the reason they moved into the property was that it is on a very exclusive estate, with regular security patrols. Despite this, he has still managed to be targeted, which is very upsetting for Raheem and Paige. They have just moved back to London and want to feel safe.”

  • EPL: Chelsea complete signing of Raheem Sterling

EPL: Chelsea complete signing of Raheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling has returned “home” after swapping Manchester for London by signing for Chelsea on a five-year deal.

The England international ended a seven-year stay at Manchester City as he joined their English Premier League (EPL) rivals on Wednesday.

The Blues shelled out 47.5 million pounds to acquire Sterling, who won four league titles during a successful spell at the Etihad Stadium.

Chelsea confirmed the deal from their pre-season camp in the U.S., with Sterling ready to get to work.

“London is my home and where it all started for me, and it’s amazing I now have the opportunity to play in front of friends and family week in, week out at Stamford Bridge.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting the fans there soon,” Sterling said in a statement published on the club’s website.

Earlier, Sterling posted a goodbye message to Manchester City on Twitter, celebrating “seven seasons, eleven major trophies, a lifetime of memories.”

Sterling joined Manchester City from Liverpool in 2015, winning four league titles and scoring 131 goals in 339 games across all competitions.

The England International was in and out of the Manchester City team towards the end of last season.

He did not start either leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final loss to Real Madrid or the EPL title-clincher against Aston Villa on the final day.

Sterling becomes the second long-serving Manchester City player to depart for London this summer after Gabriel Jesus completed a move to Arsenal.

The pair scored 30 goals between them last season.

But Pep Guardiola will be hoping to offset that loss following the signing of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund earlier in the window.

Sterling is Chelsea’s first major signing of the summer as Blues boss Tuchel looks to inject fresh impetus into an already impressive forward line.

He could soon be followed by Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, who is expected to complete his move to west London soon.

  • Raheem Sterling set to join Chelsea FC, gives conditions

England and Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling  has given Chelsea Coach Thomas Tuchel a condition if the Blues want him to cross to the London side.

The 27-year-old wants to get assurance for play time  from Tuchel before pitching his tent with the London club.

Chelsea want to make Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling their headline signing this summer and are prepared to pay up £60million, the UK Sun reports.

Chelsea’s new owners are ready to back Thomas Tuchel with a £200m warchest and make significant additions to a squad, as they seek to keep pace with City and Liverpool next season.

Sterling has just a year left on his contract and most likely to become a free agent next year.

City boss, Pep Guardiola, would prefer to keep Sterling, but the club don’t want to lose one of their prize assets on a free transfer next summer.

Sterling is keen on a return to his London roots, but will seek assurances from Tuchel over the role his likely to play in his plans.

Tuchel already has an abundance of attacking options in his squad, but with doubts over the futures of Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic, he is likely to be able to offer Sterling the guarantee of first team football he craves.

REVEALED: Barca chief rejected Raheem Sterling after meeting

Barcelona director of football Mateu Alemany chose to sign Ferran Torres ahead of Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling.

Nou Camp chiefs did not believe the England international would adapt to life at the club.

Sport says Alemany met with England forward Sterling and decided that he would not be an ideal fit for the Catalans.

Alemany reported back to Barca boss Xavi that Sterling was ‘indisputably talented’ but ruled that he would be a ‘martian’ at the Nou Camp.

Instead the Blaugrana chief proposed the idea of Sterling’s team-mate Torres, who he had already spoken with and was believed to be ‘crazy to come’ to the LaLiga side.

Barcelona splashed out £55million for Torres and finally registered the Spain international earlier this month after easing the financial pressure on their wage books.
