  • Cristiano Ronaldo rape report documents altered, fabricated – Attorney

Rape allegations made against Cristiano Ronaldo are a “defamation campaign based on stolen and easily manipulated digital documents”, according to the player’s lawyer Peter Christiansen.

Ronaldo, 33, denies assaulting Kathryn Mayorga at a Las Vegas hotel in 2009.
Mayorga says she was attacked by the Portuguese footballer in a hotel room in the US city that year.
A statement from Christiansen says the Juventus forward “vehemently denies all accusations in this civil action”.
Ronaldo previously dismissed the claim, first reported in Germany’s Der Spiegel, as “fake news” and his representatives said he would take legal action against the magazine.
Der Spiegel said Mayorga, 34, filed a report with Las Vegas police shortly after the alleged incident.
In 2010, she reportedly reached an out-of-court settlement with Ronaldo involving a $375,000 (£288,000) payment for agreeing never to go public with the allegations.
Ronaldo’s lawyer says in a statement his client’s position continues to be that “what happened in 2009 in Las Vegas was completely consensual”.
Christiansen says Ronaldo does not deny that he agreed to enter into an agreement, but “the reasons that led him to do so are at least to be distorted”.
The statement added: “This agreement is by no means a confession of guilt.
“What happened was simply that Cristiano Ronaldo merely followed the advice of his advisors in order to put an end to the outrageous accusations made against him, in order precisely to avoid attempts, such as those we are now witnessing, to destroy a reputation built thanks to hard work, athletic ability and behavioural correction.
“Unfortunately, it is now involved in the type of litigation that is very common in the United States.”
Christiansen added: “Although Cristiano Ronaldo is accustomed to media attention, inherent in the fact that he is a famous person, it is absolutely deplorable that the media continue to propagate and stimulate an intentional defamation campaign based on stolen and easily manipulated digital documents.
“Cristiano Ronaldo has mandated his lawyers in the United States and Europe to deal with all legal aspects and expresses full confidence that the truth will prevail, despite the corruption of counter-information, and in which the laws of Nevada will be enforced and respected.”
Christiansen said documents allegedly containing statements by Ronaldo are “pure inventions”.
He added: “So that there are no doubts: Cristiano Ronaldo vehemently denies all the accusations in this civil action, in consistency with what he has done in the last nine years.
“The documents that allegedly contain statements by Mr Ronaldo and were reproduced in the media are pure inventions.
“By 2015, dozens of entities (including law firms) in different parts of Europe were attacked and their electronic data stolen by a cyber criminal.
“This hacker tried to sell such information, and a media outlet irresponsibly ended up publishing some of the stolen documents, significant parts of which were altered and/or completely fabricated.
“Once again, for the avoidance of doubt, Cristiano Ronaldo’s position has always been, and continues to be, that what happened in 2009 in Las Vegas was completely consensual.”

  • Teens handed jail terms for gang rape of 13-year-old girl

Four teenagers on Monday were handed jail terms for involvement in the gang rape of a 13-year-old girl in a wooded area in the south-western German town of Velbert.
Eight boys aged between 14 and 17 were accused of ambushing the girl, dragging her into a wooded area and gang raping her before a passer-by intervened.
All eight are of Bulgarian origin.
Only six were sentenced in the regional court in Wuppertal.
The remaining two, who absconded to Bulgaria with their families after the incident, were arrested there some time later and will face trial separately.
A spokeswoman for the court said the main perpetrator had been handed four years and nine months in prison, while his main accomplice received a 4-year sentence.
Two others received shorter jail terms, while the remaining two were sentenced to probation.
Prosecutors said the evidence against the boys was overwhelming.
It included video footage filmed on one of their mobile phones, DNA samples taken from the victim, and testimony from the woman who interrupted the crime.

  • Cristiano Ronaldo denies rape allegation

Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo has “firmly” denied raping a woman in a US hotel room almost a decade ago.

Ronaldo, 33, said he was calm over “any and all investigations” as he had a “clear” conscience over the allegation he attacked Kathryn Mayorga in a Las Vegas hotel room in 2009.
He spoke out ahead of her lawyers giving a press conference on Wednesday.
He had previously said the allegation, first reported in German magazine Der Spiegel, was “fake news”.
On Wednesday, he issued a statement through his Twitter account:

Der Spiegel said Ms Mayorga, 34, had filed a report with Las Vegas police shortly after the alleged incident.
But the next year, she reportedly reached an out-of-court settlement with Ronaldo involving a $375,000 (£288,000) payment for agreeing never to go public with the allegations.
Her lawyers are now seeking to declare the non-disclosure agreement void.
Las Vegas police confirmed on Tuesday they had initially investigated a complaint in June 2009, but added they had no suspect in the case.
“At the time the report was taken, the victim did not provide detectives with the location of the incident or suspect description,” a statement said.
“As of September 2018, the case has been reopened and our detectives are following up on information being provided,” it added.
Ronaldo’s lawyers have previously said they will sue Der Spiegel magazine over its reporting.

“As of September 2018, the case has been reopened and our detectives are following up on information being provided,” it added.
Ronaldo joined Italy’s Juventus from Real Madrid for £99.2m ($128m) earlier this year.
The Portuguese international is regarded as one of the greatest players of all time.

  • Rape cases abound in places where there are beautiful women – President

Rape cases abound in places where there are beautiful women – President

President Rodrigo Duterte of Philippines was on Friday criticised for sending a “very dangerous and distorted message’’ that women are raped because they are beautiful.

Duterte, who has been slammed for joking about rape in the past, was defending his claims that he had eradicated crime in his southern home city of Davao during a speech in the central province of Cebu.

“They said that Davao had many rape cases,’’ he said; arguing that, “For as long as there are many beautiful women there are plenty of rape cases as well.”

Presidential spokesman, Harry Roque, said the statement should not be taken seriously since Duterte was known to make jokes.

“I don’t think we should give too much weight on what the president says by way of a joke,” he said, adding that people outside of the northern region of Luzon usually have a “different sense of humour’’ and “don’t really take things as seriously.’’

Gabriela, a women’s rights group in the Philippines, warned the “the latest flamboyant display of misogyny’’ by Duterte places more Filipino women at risk of rape.

“President Duterte sends yet again a very dangerous and distorted message in his latest rape remark, that a woman’s beauty is a cause of rape,’’ the group said in a statement.

“A person who finds pleasure in the mass killings of innocent people and who finds humour in demeaning women and enabling rapists is not fit to be president,’’ the group said.

A Badagry Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday ordered that a 19-year-old man, Joseph Godwin, be remanded in prison over alleged rape of a four-year-old girl.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Patrick Adekomaya, ordered that the accused be remanded in Badagry prison and adjourned the case until Sept. 26, for further hearing.

Godwin, whose residential address was not given, was arraigned on a four-count charge of rape, indecent assault, sexual assault and breach of peace.

The Prosecutor, Akpan Ikem, had told the court that the accused committed the offences at about 8:50 p.m. on Aug. 10 at No 26, Iyegbe St., Iba Town, Lagos State.

“He sexually touched the four-year-old girl in violation of Sections 168 and 261 of Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

“He indecently and unlawfully dealt with the young girl without her consent and violated Section 135 of Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

“Godwin also did conduct himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl by having sex with her.

“This act violated the Section 166 of Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011,” he said.

He told the court that the offences committed were punishable under Section 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Man remanded in prison for allegedly raping 16-year-old neighbour’s daughter

An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday remanded a 25-year-old man, Taiwo Shittu, in Kirikiri Prisons for allegedly raping a teenager.

The chief magistrate, Mrs B. O. Osunsanmi, rejected the bail application for the accused and ordered that he should be remanded in prison.

UK rape scandal never affected my music career- African China

Dancehall singer, African China was years back embroiled in a rape scandal that almost ruined his music career.

Many music lovers alluded that the ‘Food no dey’ sensation may be suffering a setback in his career as a result of the UK rape scandal.

Debunking the claim, African China said: “The UK rape scandal has never been a major setback for my music because I won the case; so why will it have a negative effect on me? It will only have effect on someone who was found guilty, and in my case I wasn’t. I have never had to lose a show, business or refund monies for shows over the rape scandal. I have been investing to keep up with life, he told Vanguard.

Speaking further on the controversial issue, he said: ”Don’t forget I shot the video of ‘London Fever’ in the UK too in 2007. I am a face, a brand for life no one can take that from me. After the scandal, I released ‘London fever’, which was a big hit as at 2006/2007. In 2008, I dropped another hit, ‘If you love somebody’, and it was a success. After these, I dropped the ‘Body dey do me’ album, followed by new singles, ‘Anu Gboko’, ‘I want to know’, and many others after which the contract I signed with my management expired.”

  • Guard rapes 13-year-old stepdaughter, mother poisons victim

Guard rapes 13-year-old stepdaughter, mother poisons victim

A thirteen-year-old girl has been admitted to the Nasarawa General Hospital in Nasarawa State after she was allegedly poisoned by her mother.

The victim was raped by her stepfather, Mohammed Sanni, sometime in February and she got pregnant, PUNCH Metro reports

It was gathered that the mother, who kept quiet about the incident, allegedly told the victim to lie about the paternity of the pregnancy.

Our correspondent learnt that the victim confided in one of their neighbours that it was her stepfather that impregnated her.

According to reports, it was learnt that the victim’s mother, who was identified simply as Aisha, allegedly poisoned her when the news went round the community.

It was learnt that the victim started bleeding after she took the poison and was rushed to the hospital by some neighbours.

One of the persons that reported to the police, Aliyah Malami, told PUNCH Metrot hat the victim was rolling on the floor when she met her.

She said, “I came with my elder sister from Kaduna to Nassarawa to greet our aunt, who told us about the pregnancy and how she suspected that the mother had poisoned the girl.

“She told us about the case in the night and the following morning, I went to the girl’s house. I saw her rolling on the floor; she told me that her mother gave her a drug in the night before and gave her concoction to drink in the morning.

“I was alarmed and I looked for someone to take me to the king’s palace but the king was in a meeting.

“With the situation I left the girl at home, I could not wait for the king to finish the meeting and I could not take her to any hospital without police report; so I went to the nearest police station.”

Malami said the victim’s mother called her husband to inform him that some policemen were looking for him, adding that Mohammed was arrested while he was trying to sneak out of his workplace.

According to Malami, when the victim was rushed to the hospital, an ultrasound scan was carried out.

She said, “She was rushed to the hospital as an emergency case; an ultrasound scan was carried out on her and the doctor said he could not find the baby’s heartbeat.

“She was rushed to the ward and she immediately went into labour and started bleeding.

“The placenta took four hours to come out; a doctor had to be called to operate her.”

One of the doctors, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the victim was in a critical condition when she was brought to the hospital.

He stated that the victim needed more blood to stay alive, adding that the neighbours that brought her were reluctant to render further help.

He said, “The case is almost getting out of hand because when she was brought in, she was bleeding. A pint of blood was given to save her life. She needs another pint of blood in order to be stable.

“As a doctor, I have been trying my best to counsel the people that have been helping her because they are getting tired because of financial constraints.

“Right now, the victim needs another pint of blood and there is neither a donor nor somebody to pay the money. There are also hospital bills to pay.

“The doctors treating her wanted to discharge her, but I told them not to discharge her in that condition because we don’t know what will happen.”

When contacted, the mobile phone of the state Police Public Relations Officer, Idirisu Kennedy, was switched off.

A text message sent to the phone had not been responded to as of the time of filing this report.

  • Police arrest clergy for raping woman after scaring her with death vision

Police arrest clergy for raping woman after scaring her with death vision

An Islamic cleric, Mustapha Hammed, has been arrested by police in Lagos for allegedly raping a 29-year-old student (names withheld).

It was gathered that the incident occurred on April 7 after the Alfa told the victim, a virgin, that he saw a vision she would die within 24 hours unless a cleansing was done to avert it.

Hammed, who was paraded by the state Police Commissioner, Imohimi Edgal, on Monday, after the victim’s father reported the case on July 12, lured the woman from Bariga to Ikorodu for spiritual cleansing where he raped her and allegedly used a white handkerchief to clean her blood.

Edgal said the victim’s father had filed a complaint at the Bariga Police Station after she exhibited traits of mental disorder following the incident.

He said: “The suspect in the case is one Mustapha Hammed who claims to be an Alfa. The said Alfa was introduced to the victim through a mutual friend.

“The Alfa deceived the 29-year-old student saying he saw in a vision that she was going to die within 24 hours. He took the girl to Ikorodu, Lagos, for cleansing so that she would not die.

“At Ikorodu, he forcefully had canal knowledge of the girl said to be a virgin at the time. He thereafter allegedly wiped off her blood with a white handkerchief and since then, her father alleged that the girl has been behaving abnormally because she was completely devastated and traumatised by the incident.”

Admitting to the crime, Hammed said he had been in love with the lady but did not know how to tell her.

He said the vision, spiritual and sexual cleansing, were strategies to get in between her legs.

Hammed said: “It all happened on April 7, when I called Rukayat, a friend to my lover, to come to my mum’s house in Bariga. I told her I had seen a vision for her while I was praying that she had a spiritual husband.

“I told her the solution is to bath three times with a soap I will give her. I told her I would take her to my house in Ikorodu for the bath and she agreed.

“We went there and she went to bath the first time and while I was praying for the water to do the second bathing, I quickly put a dead frog in the water. When she got to the bathroom and saw the frog, she was afraid and ran out to inform me.

“This I said was a bad omen, that the only solution is to immediately do some prayers and then do a sexual cleansing which entails having sexual intercourse with a man.

“She was scared and said she would do all it takes to be free. So, I asked her to call her boyfriend. She said her boyfriend was far away, she pleaded I help her.

“She did not know that I had put the frog because I have been looking for a way to tell her I love her and have a sexual relationship with her. So I deflowered her. I did not wipe her private part with any white handkerchief.”

Edgal said investigation into the case was ongoing, adding that the suspect would be charged to court soon.
