    Why I’m the number 1 musician in West Africa – Speed Darlington

    Controversial Nigerian singer Speed Darlington, has declared himself the number-one musician in West Africa.

    According to him, he is currently the most trending musician in the subregion.

    Speed Darlington appeared in the latest episode of the ‘Curiosity Made Me Ask’ podcast hosted by content creator, Bae U Barbie.

    “I am the number one musician/celebrity in West Africa. No one is hotter than me,” he boasted.

    Meanwhile, Speed Darlington recently warned fans to stop comparing him with controversial singer, Portable.

    He warned that nobody should compare him with the ‘Zazo’ hitmaker as he is the bigger artist among them, noting that he is a star.

    The rapper added that he goes around doing his business free and doesn’t have any reason for police to chase him around unlike Portable who was recently arrested by the police for allegedly owing 14 million naira for his G-Wagon.

    U.S. rapper Macklemore releases pro-Palestinian song

    U.S. rapper Macklemore has released a song about pro-Palestinian protests.

    He also announced that he would donate all proceeds from the song to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

    In the song, the 40-year-old singer from Seattle, said he was not voting for U.S. President Joe Biden in November’s presidential election.

    “The blood is on your hands, Biden, we can see it all,” he raps in the song released on his social media profiles.

    The rap, “Hind’s Hall,” is named after a Palestinian girl who was killed in an attack in Gaza.

    At protests at New York’s elite Columbia University, pro-Palestinian students renamed a building they had occupied “Hind’s Hall.”

    In the song, Macklemore raps about the recent protests at U.S. universities against Israel’s actions in the Gaza war and in favour of solidarity with the Palestinians.

    The hip-hop musician, who urges a ceasefire in the song, had already taken part in a large pro-Palestinian demonstration in the U.S. capital Washington in November.

    Macklemore has often taken a political stance in his songs.

    The hit “Same Love” became an anthem for same-sex love.

    The song “White Privilege II” made reference to the black protest movement “Black Lives Matter.”

    Rapper sentenced to death in Iran for supporting anti-Hijab protest

    An Iranian  rapper, Toomaj Salehi has been sentenced to death by an Iranian court for supporting anti-hijab protests in the  Asian Islamic country.

    It was gathered that the  rapper has been serving jail term for more than a year and half over his backing of the wave of demonstrations sparked by the death of Mahsa Amini, who died days after she was arrested for wearing an “improper” hijab in 2022.

    His attorney Amir Raisian on Wednesday said, “Branch 1 of Isfahan Revolutionary Court… sentenced Toomaj Salehi to death on the charge of corruption on Earth.”

    The rapper  was arrested in October 2022 after publicly supporting the anti-hijab protests.

    The Revolutionary Court had accused Salehi of “assistance in sedition, assembly and collusion, propaganda against the system and calling for riots.”

    The Iranian Supreme Court had reviewed the case and issued a ruling to the lower court to “remove the flaws in the sentence.”

    However, the court had “in an unprecedented move, emphasized its independence and did not implement the Supreme Court’s ruling,” according to Raisian.

    Raisian said the rapper “will certainly appeal against the sentence.”

    Nigerian rapper, Erigga has said when he dies, nobody should take a peek at his dead body in the coffin.

    He explained on his X account that his shyness might cause him to laugh, revealing his rationale behind this decision.

    He said: “My own is that, when I die nobody should come and look at me inside the coffin l’m a very shy person, I might laugh.”

    Erigga had a few days ago advised men on how they should deal with a partner who cheats on them.

    He revealed that even though their girlfriend might be cheating on them, they should remember that the heart still belongs to him.

    Two beautiful American female artiste  have joined the beefing game.

    Nicki Minaj’s protégé, Bia, appeared to have taken a swipe at her mentor’s rival, Cardi B, on Dreezy’s ‘B*tch Duh’ remix.

    In the song, Bia literally released her vituperations on another artiste but failed to mention Cardi B’s name directly.

    In her verse, Bia mocked an unnamed female artist who can’t follow the beat and went on to say she could never turn her phone on to cry on livestream.

    Her statement gave fans the impression that she was referring to Cardi B, who broke down in tears on an Instagram live session in December 2023 to call out her ex-husband, Offset for being deceitful in a profanity-ridden tirade.

    “How you say you running down and can’t walk on the beat? I ain’t know I had an opp ’cause she don’t say sh*t to me. I could never turn my phone on just to cry, on the live,” Bia raps.

    It would be recalled that in Future and Metro Boomin’s new album, ‘We Still Don’t Trust You,’ looking like a diss project for Drake, with featured artists Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, and The Weeknd dissing the Canadian rapper on songs from the album

    American rapper, Shad Gregory Moss popularly known as ‘Bow Wow’ has revealed how battled drug addiction and was not known to the public.

    During an interview on The Art of Dialogue podcast, the 36-year-old star was asked about his 2007 collaborative album with Omarion.

    ‘I was on lean. I was sipping so much syrup,’ Bow Wow said referencing the combination of promethazine and codeine cough syrup mixed with soda.

    ‘I was drinking that s*** like crazy,’ he added.

    He said the BET documentary series Road To Platinum showed many Styrofoam cups and Hawaiian Punch bottles in the studio.

    Bow Wow gave credit to his late publicist Patti Webster, who died in 2013 at age 49, for keeping his drug addiction out of the public.

    She released a statement about his collapse blaming it on dehydration.

    ‘[There] wasn’t any dehydration. I was f***ed up off lean. We didn’t want the world to know,’ Bow Wow said.

    BREAKING: Reminisce former signee, Oladips is dead

    A Nigerian rapper and Reminisce former signee, Oladipupo Olabode Oladimenji, more popular as Oladips is dead.

    Born on 24 March 1995 in Ogun State, Oladips’ rapping career started in 2012 when he was 17 and did a cover of Drake & Trey’s song.

    According to a statement posted on his Instagram page, he passed away at exactly 10:14 pm on Tuesday night.

    It reads, “We are saddened to inform the general public that Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji, aka Oladips, passed away yesterday, Nov 14th, Tuesday evening, at precisely 10:14 pm. We are still in shock as we speak!

    “For over two years, he has kept his battles within himself. His body is now with his family, and funeral services will be announced as soon as it is concluded! The family asked that we respect their privacy in this trying time. May God give us all the fortitude to bear this great loss.”

    South African rapper, AKA shot dead

    Popular South African rapper, AKA, real name ‘Kiernan Forbes’ is dead.

    According to reports, it was confirmed that the 35-year-old was shot dead outside a popular restaurant on Florida Rd in Durban.

    Speaking to TimesLIVE, ALS paramedic Garrith Jamieson explained that just after 10.15pm this evening they responded to a shooting incident where two men sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

    “On arrival, paramedics met total chaos and a scene where two men, believed to be in their late 30s,  sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics assisted the men and unfortunately the first male had sustained multiple gun shot wounds and showed no signs of life and was declared deceased at the scene.”

    He said a second male, believed to be a bodyguard, was found in critical condition and died despite advanced life support intervention due to extensive injuries.

    It remains unclear what the motive for the shooting was. SAPS and Metro were on scene and closed the road to assist with the investigation.

    AKA is among SA’s best rappers and has produced and written many hit songs including Fela In Versace, Baddest and others since he broke into the industry over a decade ago.

    He shares a daughter, Kairo, with DJ Zinhle and was in relationship with rapper Nadia Nakai.
