    EFCC invites billionaire Okoya’s sons over viral video on naira abuse

    The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has invited Subomi and Wahab, sons of Nigerian billionaire industrialist, Rasaq Okoya over a viral video of them spraying Naira notes.

    TheNewsGuru reported that Subomi, a musician and his brother, Wahab had shared a video of a policeman helping him carry bundles of cash as he promoted his new song, Credit Alert.

    The viral video in question shows the constable standing with the boys as they make a social media video, dancing happily to the song whilst spraying money at each other.

    On Friday, the Police in a statement, said the officer involved has been identified and detained for disciplinary action. The force added that the involvement of the policeman is unethical and contrary to the values of the Police.

    “The policeman captured in the recent viral video shared by the sons of the lagos businessman, Chief Okoya, where they were abusing the naira, has been identified and detained for disciplinary action. The involvement of the policeman has been condemned, as it’s unethical. We will always strive hard to uphold the sanctity, credibility, and core values of the Police. Thanks,” the statement read.

    The development sparked reactions on X, with some Nigerians arguing that the billionaire’s sons are the “true offenders”. In a post via X, Sirheem begged for forgiveness, adding that he was “naive”.He also claimed that he was unaware of the legal implications of his actions.

    In a new development, the acting director of EFCC, Lagos directorate, Michael Wetkas, in an invite, directed the brothers to report to the Head, of the Special Operations Team, at their 15A Awolowo Road office by 10 a.m. on Monday, January 13.

    The son of Nigerian billionaire industrialist, Rasaq Okoya, Subomi ‘Sirheem’ Okoya has tendered a public apology for abusing the Naira.

    TheNewsGuru reported that the billionaire’s son, Raheem Okoya, who is a musician, had shared a video of a policeman helping him carry bundles of cash as he promoted his new song, Credit Alert.

    The viral video in question shows the constable standing with the boys who are seen making a social media video, as they danced happily to the song, whilst spraying money at each other.

    The Police, in a statement on Friday, said the officer involved has been identified and detained for disciplinary action.

    We have been through a lot – Shade Okoya opens up on her relationship with billionaire husband, Rasaq Okoya

    Managing director of Eleganza Industrial City Ltd, Shade Okoya has opened up about her relationship with her billionaire industrialist husband, Rasaq Okoya.

    The 47-year-old during a recent interview with Channels Television host, Anne Nwaghodoh, spoke about how much she loves her husband, assuring him that she would never tarnish his image.

    Mrs Okoya who spoke very highly of her man, prayed for her 84-year-old husband to live longer as they mark their 25th wedding anniversary.

    Anne shared clips from the interview on Instagram on Saturday.

    She said, “My husband is my everything and that’s why when you see both of us together our relationship is beyond husband and wife.”

    “We’ve been through a lot together. For now, my prayer is that he’ll just live many more years. My husband is my own backbone and I pray for him that God will grant him many more years. He looks well. I’ve always given him all the respect he wants and I’ll never do anything to tarnish his name. He knows that, he trusts me.

    “My generation will forever be grateful to him, my children will forever be grateful to him and I just pray that God will help us to be able to see to what we intend to do for him.”

    Mrs Okoya said she goes to the factory all day of the work week, adding that she used to work part-time on Saturdays but for social events.

  • Buhari felicitates with Rasaq Okoya on 78th birthday

    President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday congratulated the Chairman of the Eleganza Group of companies, Chief Rasaq Okoya, on his 78th birthday.

    In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the President felicitated with all business associates, family and friends of the businessman.

    He noted that Okoya, through vision, hard work and entrepreneurship completely altered the business landscape of Nigeria, and West Africa, by starting a cottage industry in the early 70s that blossomed into a multi-billion naira empire, with a strong household name.

    The statement read in part, “The President commends the Aare of Lagos for his generosity in providing for the less privileged, especially scholarships for people to further their education, and funds to jumpstart small businesses, which he personally provides mentorship.

    President Buhari believes the Chairman of the Eleganza Group of companies, and his likes in the country, have set the right standards for weaning the country off dependence on one commodity, and assuaging the growing thirst for start-ups by exploring the benefits of personal savings, investments and building global business conglomerates.

    The President prays that the almighty God will give Chief Okoya good health, longer life and more strength to serve the country and humanity.”
