Court ends 13-year marriage over affair with pastor

An Akwa Ibom State High Court sitting in the Eket Local Government Area has dissolved a 13-year marriage, over the allegation that the 36-year-old wife slept with a pastor of one of the new generational churches in the state.

The husband is also said to also be a pastor.

The presiding judge, Justice Pius Idiong, who dissolved the marriage, expressed worry over the rising cases of divorce and separation as a result of the activities of some churches and their pastors.

Idiong said, “It is a great pain that the church and its ministers, who are supposed to be agents and apostles of sustainability of the family, which the Catholic Pontiff, St. Pope John Paul described as ‘the domestic church’ are the precursors and catalysts of broken marriages and families today.”

The court said it was more worrisome that the said man of God was alleged to have given the pastor’s wife some substance to administer to her husband, which prompted the 42-year-old husband to approach the court to seek dissolution of the marriage.

Idiong said, “The couple can no longer live together in an era where domestic violence is at its peak, taking a dangerous trend and resulting in married couples taking the lives of each other.

“It is better for the couple to be alive apart, than for any of them to be lost on account of matrimonial disagreement.

“The marriage between the petitioner and the respondent, dated November 28, 2009, and celebrated in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Uyo, under the watchful eyes of the marriage registrar, is dissolved forthwith.”

The court also gave custody of the two children of the marriage, between the ages of eight and 10, to their father, “subject to the condition that their mother shall not be denied access to her children.”

Adeboye’s son, Leke celebrates 40th birthday

Leke Adeboye, son of the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God– Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Friday penned a note to “God” in celebration of his 40th birthday.

In the note posted to Instagram, Leke thanked God for being “partial” towards him.

“For I (Oluwagbemileke Adeboye) did not conquer the lands by my swords or actions, and I did not prevail by my own strength, but rather by your power, strength and good favour, for you were and always be partial towards me,” he said.

He has been sharing on Instastory congratulatory messages from members of the church.

In April, Leke, who is also a senior personal assistant to his father, came under criticism when he verbally attacked pastors who delivered sermons in their parishes on Sunday, April 3, after his father’s sermon, a day that is known as Thanksgiving Sunday and is reserved for Adeboye’s sermon.

He later apologised, saying he did not mean to insult anyone.

Leke noted that the disciplinary measures taken by the church against him was well received.

“This period will be used to reflect and introspect,” he added.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) recalls that sometime April this year, the last son of Pastor Adeboye and Senior Personal Assistant of the General Overseer of the RCCG slammed pastors of the church who preached after his father had given the sermon of the day for Thanksgiving Sunday.

This was as Pastor Adeboye said he is still in doubt as to whether the general elections would hold in 2023.

However, Leke had apologized for calling some RCCG pastors ‘goat’.

Leke wrote: “I wish to use this medium to tender my unreserved apologies on the statement made from my social media handle about some of our esteemed pastors.

“The disciplinary measures taken by the mission is well received and this period will be used to reflect and retrospect. I wish to crave your indulgence to please forgive my extreme statement which I wish to emphasise was absolutely not intended to insult or malign.

“I also wish to apologise profusely to the entire leadership and pastors of our beloved church who might have been hurt by this statement. I remain humbly yours in God’s love and mercies.”

  • See reasons RCCG Pastor gave for poverty among Christians

See reasons RCCG Pastor gave for poverty among Christians

A Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Solomon Bello, on Wednesday gave reasons behind poverty within some Christian communities and the steps to take to escape poverty.

Bello said this while delivering the lead paper at the Business Summit of the Redeemers Men’s Fellowship of the LP71, Divine Connection Zone.

The summit had the theme: ‘For Christians Not Be Poor, To Avoid Conflicts And Financial Crises’.

Bello, Pastor in Charge of Lagos province 71 (LP71), described prosperity as “a birthright of Christians while poverty is a curse”.

The cleric, said, “Poverty is not for any true child of God. As long as men continue to sin against God, they will continue to struggle.”

Bello, who is also a lecturer at the University of Lagos, listed the major factors that brought about poverty as sin, laziness, curses, ingratitude, devourer, extravagance, and procrastination.

“Cursed and blessings are the results of the obedience or lack of it on the part of a man.

The Bible informs us that poverty is a curse. It was the resultant effect of man’s separation from God in the Garden of Eden.

“As long as men continue to sin against God, they will continue to struggle. It takes two to succeed, you and God,” he added.

On gratitude and obedience, Bello said that any Christian who knew how to obey and show appreciation to God was destined for great heights.

“An ungrateful man cannot go far in life. Gratitude will open the doors of breakthrough and success to you at any time. Appreciation of God’s goodness leads to an appreciation of your blessings and worth before God and man.

“Appreciation of God leads to success in life. It is the shortest cut to victory. If you want the heavens to be opened for you, if you want to be made whole, then you must be ready to appreciate Him. When you return to give glory to God.

“He will return to make your life worth living. Divine upliftment comes in the place of gratitude.

“Every disobedience has a retribution attached to it. When you obey the commands of God, blessings follow after, but when a man disobey, the blessings are withheld,” he said.

Bello, who warned against habit of procrastination, added that devourers had also been assigned against people who do not pay their tithes.

On the route to prosperity, the cleric listed 11 steps which include: wisdom, diligence, labour, mystery of giving, the way of thinking, anointing, obedience, natural gifts and endowments, blessing of right placement, praises, and breakthrough by the blood.

“The road to prosperity is a straight one if you can only understand it. God has already made every provision for comfort and upliftment.

“There are certain things you can do to unlock the heavens for yourself and your family,” he said

In his welcome address, Mr Segun Adeleye, Coordinator, Redeemers Men’s Fellowship, Divine Connection Zone, said the theme of summit came from the consciousness that Christians in the country were not where they were supposed to be.

Adeleye said, “Christians are crawling when they are supposed to be flying.

“It is strange that some people don’t know that they are poor as long as they can afford one fairly used car and struggle to put food on the table.

“But Philippians 4:19 says, “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Do we bother to ask what God’s riches are?

“According to Haggai 2:8 ‘The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,’ says the LORD of hosts.

“If the silver and gold belong to God, then the logic should be that we His children should not be poor, but very rich. We can only be poor if there are things we don’t know, like where God is keeping all the wealth.”

He said Christians could not claim to be rich in Nigeria when the rich people in the country were from a different faith, while the rulers of the country and heads of all the most important institutions were from a different faith.

“One thing is clear, our destiny is hidden. It’s deliberate. We were born to seek and find out what we don’t know. We should be interested in knowing why we are here. We must be ready to learn,” Adeleye said.

The panel discussion session of the summit was moderated by Mr Babatunde Awe, who discussed “Business Opportunities to Achieve Financial Freedom.”

The panelists included Pastor Otokiti Williams, Mr Durosanya Oluwatosin, Mrs Iyabode Alayaki, Mr Abiodun Olayinka and Mrs Sofola Susan.

Leke Adeboye, one of the sons of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has paid tribute to his older brother, Pastor Dare on his one year death anniversary.

Taking to his Instagram page on Wednesday, May 4, the clergyman shared a post in remembrance of his late brother who passed away exactly one year ago.

Leke shared a graphically curated photo of his late brother and wrote, “Forever in our hearts”.

The 42-year-old died in his sleep at his home in Akwa Ibom where he resides with his family on May 4, 2021.

“Your fist was still clenched like you were holding a mic. But this time with your eyes closed and smiling. It’s my birthday on May 20. You would have sent me a cash gift as a little brother. And I would have retaliated on June 9.

I still will, as you have given me a gift of being my brother. Thank you for all the experiences. The goods, the grillings and the godly,” he wrote.

  • 2023 Elections: RCCG advised not to campaign for Osinbajo

2023 Elections: RCCG advised not to campaign for Osinbajo

Ex- president Goodluck Jonathan’s aide and a socio-political activist, Reno Omokri has called on the Redeemed Christian Church of God, (RCCG) to desist from promoting one of their own, Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo and instead focus on preaching the gospel.

Omokri made his position known when reacting to comments from the head of politics and Governance of RCCG, Pastor Timothy Olaniyan, who mentioned that VP Osinbajo is the best man to lead the country starting from 2023.

Omokri through his facebook verified page advised RCCG to instead pray for the VP and not campaign for him

The activist appealed to General Overseer, Pastor E. A. Adeboye to call his members to order .

He said, “‪It is very dangerous for the Redeemed Christian Church of God to politically promote Osinbajo. Churches are meant to promote Christ. If churches and mosques start promoting candidates, then, they are no longer religious organisations and should start paying tax!‬

“It is alright for the candidates to visit the church and Pastor Adeboye for prayers and his blessings. But when the Redeemed Christian Church of God sets up a politics directorate, and the head of that unit starts openly campaigning for Osinbajo, in his official capacity, then things are falling apart!

“‪GO Adeboye should call RCCG’s political directorate to order before they start what they can’t finish!”‬

How the Holy Spirit told me to pattern my ministry after Pastor Adeboye – Apostle Suleman

Apostle Johnson Suleman, the senior preacher and founder of Omega Fire Ministry has revealed how the Holy Spirit told him to pattern his ministry after Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God RCCG).

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Apostle Suleman revealed this in an address to his congregation, disclosing how the General Overseer of the RCCG influenced his life in his early years and changed his mindset after hearing Pastor Adeboye’s ministry and miracles.

Suleman said: “In 1992, I came to Auchi to visit my father as a believer. By then, I was only preaching in minor places. One day, I was told about a program in a church. Pastor Adeboye was preaching during the program, and he knelt down to pray. When he got up, he called God ‘my daddy.’ I got angry at first; then he said again that we had a mad man outside.

“Immediately they brought the mad man, he said to us, let’s worship ‘my daddy’; after the worship, the mad man got healed. The funny thing was Adeboye was very calm when saying this. I was just speechless because I never knew God’s plan for me through him.

“After the program, I didn’t bother following him up because the late Benson Idahosa was my spiritual father in the lord, and I can’t betray him. My father in the lord died in 1998 in March, and I was now fatherless. So another crusade where over 4 million people (lekki 98) gathered, God used Pastor Adeboye greatly with the word of knowledge. I was still observing.

“About 2006, I went into prayer, and something happened. I wrote names of pastors around the world that I wanted to be like. Funny enough, the late Benson Idahosa was number 10. God left others and answered the one about Pastor Adeboye. Why? I don’t stand in one spot while preaching, but pastor Adeboye stands in one spot. The holy spirit told me to pattern my ministry with Pastor Adeboye. I became calm while preaching because of Pastor Adeboye”.

  • BREAKING: Just like RCCG, Anglican Church sets up political department ahead of 2023 elections

BREAKING: Just like RCCG, Anglican Church sets up political department ahead of 2023 elections

Just like the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion has set up a department in the church for political mobilization ahead of the 2023 general elections.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports the political department in the Anglican Communion was announced by the Primate and Metropolitan of all Nigeria, His Grace, Most Revd Henry Ndukuba.

He made the announcement at the final stage of the 2022 Joshua Generation International Youth Conference, where he also commissioned some other new important departments in the church.

Our correspondent gathered that the political department is meant to mentor youths in the Anglican church and prepare them ready to actively participate in Nigerian politics.

The political department is also to serve as a platform to encourage church members on the importance of getting their permanent voter’s cards (PVCs) and participating actively during elections.

The new department is also to help coordinate the engagement of the church members who are willing to be involved in politics as well as mobilize support for them.

While the scope of the department is yet to be fully defined, the general aim of the political department, according to the Primate, is to mobilise members of the Anglican church to actively participate in politics.

TNG reports the Church of Nigeria is the Anglican church in Nigeria. It is the second-largest province in the Anglican Communion after the Church of England.

As of 2016, membership of the church, measured was pegged at over 18 million. It is the largest Anglican province on the continent of Africa, accounting for 41.7% of Anglicans in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Recall that the RCCG had announced a similar political department in the church that was met with so much criticism recently.

While the RCCG gave a blanket reason on why it’s political department was set up, some members of the public, mostly on social media attributed the move to the presidential ambition of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Meanwhile, Primate Ndukuba also commissioned a department in charge of assisting students, who wish to study abroad via scholarships or self funded.

Ndukuba also commissioned Church of Nigeria Football club to be registered into Nigerian Premier league with the recruitment of players expected to begin soon.

TNG reports the Primate also commissioned a department for mission outreach.

Social media users slam Pastor Leke Adeboye over ‘goat’ comment

Social media reactions have trailed the Instagram post of pastor Adeboye’s son, Leke Adeboye where he referred to pastors that preached their own sermon instead of a unifying sermon from daddy GO as goat.

In RCCG, each first Sunday of the month, all parishes are anticipated to hook up with the Nationwide Headquarters of the church, the place Daddy G.O. delivers the sermon, which is predicted to be the only sermon of the day.

In the said Instagram post, pastor Leke Adeboye had called out pastors who go about preaching their own prepared sermon as goats saying they were meant to join his father’s Thanksgiving sermon.

He said, ”Why would you go and preach another sermon after Daddy G.O. had just finished speaking and preaching.

”You are not a son, you are a goat sir. Next Thanksgiving service, just do an altar call, then Thanksgiving.”

His Instagram post have generated a lot of reactions from social media users as many tackled him for referring to human beings as goats

    Check comments below:

@Joanna8214, “That’s very rude of you, Leke Adeboye! You are the goat here.”

@TomisinAmokeoja, “Two wrongs don’t make a right, Leke Adeboye calling pastors goat was way overboard. Really leaves much to be desired. Always been controversial though. I wonder how he would have reacted if he was the G.O.”

@influentialayyo, “Why is Leke Adeboye like this? He is always scandalous. Why will a Christian call the image of God a goat?”

@ollynetworker, “#rccg should suspend Leke Adeboye for calling ordained pastors #GOAT. What a gut.”

@OkeAkinola, “The goat in this context is to describe erring children who don’t listen to fathers. A sheep is tender and easy to lead, a goat strays away at every slight opportunity.”

@CeciliaOkoroma, “This is simply not too nice a statement from ‘man of God’ and in particular, son of GO RCCG.”

@Chukwueloka_EE, “The question is whether the sermon they preached is good or bad, as your Daddy doesn’t own any sermon. Every good preaching is God’s. Meanwhile, calling them goats is not right. This is how some founders will die: boom power tussle, property dragging etc will ensue.”

@CODE_61329, “This is quite disgusting of him to bring the internal ramblings/politics to the media! He should be ready for the storm he brewed! Common sense should have told him to use the organization’s official channels and mind his language! Abuse of office everywhere!

@McRoi16, “It’s rather unfortunate that he abused the privilege of being the G.O.’s son. Well I expect that his father will call him to order.”

Pastor Adeboye’s son Leke blows hot, attacks erring RCCG pastors

One of the sons, Leke Adeboye who also doubles as the Senior Personal Assistant of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has lambasted pastors who preached after his father’s sermon last Sunday in parishes across the nation.

At RCCG every first service of the month is designed as Thanksgiving Sunday and all pastors are expected to hook up to a televised version of Daddy G.O preaching from the Church’s headquarter inorder to achieve a uniform sermon.

The GO’s sermon is expected to be the only sermon for every first Sunday.

Meanwhile, some parish pastors do not obey as they still go ahead to preach their own prepared sermon.

Leke the son of Daddy G.O, himself a pastor too has taken to Instagram to address the situation. He ascribed the attitude of such pastors as being recalcitrant and calls them a goat.

”Why would you go and preach another sermon after Daddy GO had just finished speaking and preaching.

”You are not a son, you are a goat sir. Next Thanksgiving service, just do altar call, then Thanksgiving,” he wrote.
