I can’t tell you who to vote but ensure you vote – Pastor Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Sunday, said he has never voted in elections in the country saying RCCG is large and highly represented in every political party.

Adeboye, made this statement at the Church’s thanksgiving service, he said voting for one will be unjust to the rest of his children who could be up against one other in elections.

He opined that every eligible Nigerian has the right to join any political party of their choice and he would keep praying for them too.

”My assignment has nothing to do with partisan politics. Politics is not my calling but to be a pastor.

”I have never told you this is the fellow you should vote for or the Party you should vote for.

“In RCCG, every party is mainly represented. I’m a father of all and I like it that way. I’m not a politician and I will never be.

”The only reason I have never voted is that if I vote for one I will be unjust to the rest of my children. I am the father of all.

“As a Nigerian, you must register, vote, and make sure that your vote counts. You are a Nigerian first before becoming a Christian. Nobody is born a Christian, you are a true Christian when you give your life to Christ. You must vote and make sure there is no rigging.

”You have a duty to belong to any party of your choice at the very grass root. You can’t sit down fold your hands, refuse to vote and begin to complain about the government,” he said.

General Overseer of RCCG talks about text message that stopped him from mourning son’s death

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has narrated how a text message made him not to mourn the death of his son, Dare, last May.

He said the text message was sent by one of his spiritual daughters and it lifted him from “deep sorrow” caused by Dare’s death.

The octogenarian preacher said the text message turned the tide following the death of his 42-year-old son in 2021, adding that God loves him despite the loss of his son.

Adeboye spoke at the international headquarters of the church along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway during the April 2022 Holy Ghost Service of the church.

Dare, the third child of 80-year-old Adeboye, died on May 4, 2021 in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, where he was based with his family. Married to Temiloluwa, the deceased was the Assistant Pastor in charge of Region (Youth) 35 before his death and father to three daughters.

Speaking on the theme, ‘Signs and Wonders’, with Bible text from Isaiah 8:18 on Friday night, the elder Adeboye said children are proofs that God is a Miracle Worker, a Covenant-Keeper, a Burden-Bearer and the Defence of the Defenceless.

According to him, God is a Carrier, who carries burden, sorrow and problems provided one has the disposition of a child.

Adeboye said, “When I lost my son last year (2021), and I was deeply in sorrow, I got a text (message) from one of my (spiritual) daughters that suddenly turned the tide. What she wrote was simply this: Daddy, let God carry you.”

“I’ve always said it and when I said it, people argue with me. God loves me more than anybody else. Do you agree? I know you won’t agree. When I tell you that God loves me more than anybody else; what do you reply?” he asked thousands of worshippers at the programme who also replied individually that God loves them more than any other person.’’

Mothers’ Day: Be good examples to your children, society – Cleric

Mr Glorious Abu of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Christ the Wonderful Parish Lugbe, FCT has admonished mothers to be good examples to their children and society.

Abu, a pastor, who gave the admonition on Sunday in Abuja during the 2022 Mothers’ Day celebration, urged mothers to wake up to the responsibilities of motherhood by building good homes through Christ, which would reflect on the growth and development of Nigeria.

He further urged mothers to cultivate the virtue of peace, humility and love in their relationships with their families and society.

The cleric also advised mothers to build healthy and peaceful homes that would subsequently create a peaceful society.

He appealed to them to share their love equally among their children.

Abu also urged them to pay more attention to their children’s strengths and interests in order to develop their intellectual capacity.

According to him, children need encouragement and guidance.

He said that mothers should be homemakers and maintain peace both at home and society at large.

The clergyman said: “It is wonderful when mothers are celebrated all over the world.

“They are celebrated because of their contributions in raising children and giving them the upbringing that impact on the growth of the nation.

“They help raise future leaders because when these children are well taken care of, there will be peace in society.

“As we celebrate Mother’s Day today, I join millions of families to hail the virtue of women and urge them to be the mothers that they are meant to be.”

He urged mothers to always pray for their children and country so that there would be a revival of value in society.

Abu further charged society, especially men, to appreciate the contributions of women to the peaceful and economic growth of society.

  • It is the turn of Christians to produce the next president of Nigeria in 2023- CAN

It is the turn of Christians to produce the next president of Nigeria in 2023- CAN

Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has said it is the turn of Christians to produce the next president of Nigeria in 2023.

The National Chairman of CAN’s Youth Wing, Belusochukwu Enwere, who spoke in Owerri, on Saturday, lambasted MURIC over comments by the Chairman of Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, Bauchi State chapter, Idrees Gambo, against members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, vying for elective position in 2023.

MURIC, in a statement by the Bauchi Chairman, warned that any political party that picks any member of the RCCG would exit the Aso Rock.

Enwere pointed out that MURIC’s statement was an insult to Christians and an abuse of the freedom of the people.

He said, MURIC’s statement shows the low level of the said group and how blind they are in the 21st century.

”For MURIC to say they are challenging RCCG for having the effrontery to launch a political and good governance wing is an insult to our fathers and the entire Christians in Nigeria, especially the young people.

“MURIC calling another faith-based group that will queue behind any candidate from RCCG a traitor is an abuse of office and their freedom of association as stipulated in the Nigerian constitution, and their warning to Islamic organizations and Muslim communities against supporting RCCG is indirectly telling them not to support a Christian candidate in 2023.

“It is the turn of Christians to produce the next president of the country in 2023. We call on them to join hands with us to preach for peace, oneness and help make Nigeria a better place where both Christians and Muslims will be seen as one and have equal rights in all ramifications.”

RCCG pastor touted as next Soun of Ogbomoso

A pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye has been touted as the next Soun of Ogbomoso.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Pastor Olaoye is among the aspirants, who are all members of Baiyewuwon/Olaoye Ruling House, whose turn it is to produce the next Soun.

According to reports, Ogbomoso kingmakers met on Thursday at Aafin Ogbomoso to have a session with the aspirants with the RCCG pastor’s name ringing loudest.

Recall that the 20th Soun of Ogbomoso, Jimoh Oyewumi Ajagungbade III, joined his ancestors and was interred in December 2021. His death left a vacuum the Ogbomoso kingmakers are striving to fill.

While nothing is cast in stone yet, Pastor Olaoye has been said to be favoured to ascend the throne as the 21st Soun of Ogbomoso. His name has been said to be gaining currency in recent times.

He is said to be very close to Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo, who both are pastors of RCCG, and is alleged that Osinbajo is rooting for him.

Olaoye pastors RCCG, Jesus House, Washington DC, which is one of the biggest RCCG churches in America and it has earned its respect in that part of the world. It is one of the over 15,000 churches under the RCCG of which Pastor Enoch Adeboye is the General Overseer.

The church is situated in Philadelphia Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland, a thriving community rich in ethnic and racial diversity.

Pastor Olaoye is described as “a visionary, motivational speaker and entrepreneur. He is fondly called “Pastor G” and is known for his servant heart and leadership skills.

He was born and raised in Nigeria, and has a degree in English Language and a Masters in Industrial and Labour Relations. He was a successful entrepreneur before the call of God came upon his life to become a Pastor.

Pastor Olaoye has been Pastoring since 1992, where he pastored three RCCG Churches in Nigeria and also RCCG Parish in Bonn, Germany before moving to the United States.

Pastor Ghandi is passionate about helping others develop to their fullest potential; his experience traveling and speaking internationally has helped shape his commitment to showcasing a ministry where people of all racial and ethnic groups worship God in a loving and caring atmosphere.

He is currently the coordinator in charge of Convention and Special Projects for RCCG, North America.

He is happily married to Pastor Omo who also play a key role in running the affairs of the church. His wife, Pastor Omo is the founder and Pastor in charge of the Jesus Women Ministries, a women’s ministry that addresses pertinent women’s issues from birth to old age, with a view to positively affecting these areas in line with the Word of God.

The Jesus Women Ministries is the women’s ministry of the RCCG Jesus House, DC.

Meanwhile, as the selection processes for the next Soun of Ogbomoso hit full gear, the Ogbomoso kingmakers have said no one has been foisted on other contenders.

When contacted, a member of the kingmakers who don’t want his name in print said: “We are not unaware to the news making rounds by some sections of the media that Prince Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye has been selected as the next Soun of Ogbomoso probably because of his association with VP Osinbajo.

“Let it be noted that our selection would never be influenced politically no matter who is involved. Our primary goal is the progress of Ogbomoso.

“Notably, it’s constitutional to pronounce the next Soun of Ogbomoso through the recommendations of the kingmakers and as it stands, no one has been selected.

“Any news regarding the selection would be made known to the public soon by the kingmakers and, therefore, members of the public are enjoined to disregard any fake news in that regard”.

Also, a statement issued on Thursday by illustrious sons of Ogbomoso under the aegis of Concerned Ogbomoso Indigenes has it that under no circumstances should political influence or religious affiliation hinder the smooth running of the selection processes in choosing the next Soun of Ogbomoso, adding that no contender would be foisted on others in the selection.

The group through its spokesperson, Bashir Lawal unequivocally explained that the utmost interest of the kingmakers is to follow due process in line with the provisions of the selection processes and uphold the tradition of their forebears.

He stressed that what Ogbomoso needs is someone that can move the town forward, uphold the culture and tradition, and not someone that is either politically biased or religiously biased.

“Let it be on record that all the 25 contenders who underwent thorough screening are potential Soun-designate and no one would be preferred to other unless the one qualified for the seat.

“If you want to ratify anybody, make it known to us and show us the names of those people that actually did the screening.

“We don’t want fake news and we don’t want anybody that will tamper with our emotions as we are bound to live together as one family.

“We challenge the so-called “Afobaje” to come out and debunk this story to avoid chaos in the town,” the group submitted.

2023: What will happen once Islamic groups start creating political departments – Shehu Sani

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani has painted a picture of what could happen when Islamic groups in the North start creating political departments.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Sani made this known in reaction to reports of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) creating a political department and a recent call by Bola Ahmed Tinubu for Islamic groups to do the same.

Recall that the acclaimed National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had urged the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria to create a department of political affairs ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Tinubu made the call at the Annual National Conference and Pre-Ramadan meeting of the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria (SCSN) which was held in Osogbo, Osun State capital.

According to him, the move to establish a political wing among them, would help to mobilize support for the faithful who are vying for different political positions.

Reacting, Shehu Sani who kicked against the idea, said once religious groups in the North create a political department, it will be a breeding unit for fanatical religiously-crafted political ideas in pursuit of a theocratic State.

He wrote on Twitter, “Once religious groups in the North begins to set up political departments, it’s not just going to be ‘a department’ like in the RCCG, it’s going to be a breeding unit for fanatical religiously-crafted political ideas in pursuit of a theocratic State. Abeg, let the sleeping Lion lie.”

Pastor Femi Emmanuel supports RCCG over creation of Politics Directorate

Pastor Femi Emmanuel of the Director, National Directorate of Politics and Governance of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, has backed the Redeemed Christian Church of God over their newly-created politics directorate.

He described the move as a form of answered prayer and not a ploy to support any political candidate.

In a statement released from the man of God on the issue and its criticisms, pastor Emmanuel postulated that the politics directorate was what the church needed to also be involved in politics.

“This appointment of the RCCG is not in support of any Political candidate at all. We asked for it. I trust other fathers and leaders of the faith would soon follow suit.

“Let no one read any negative or ulterior motives to the memo from RCCG. This is at our request and it is an answered prayer for us in DPG. This is what we have been asking our GOs to do since. Many more will do so soon as we are in consultation with them.

“PFN/DPG is still at the level of building a grassroots base. We are still far from presenting candidates. Anyone talking of presenting candidates at this point does not know politics. Politics is at the grassroots. You can’t present candidates when you are not at the grassroots. You are at the back of the fence politically speaking.

“Where would you get candidates (Ward Officers) to vote for you at the primaries and party conventions? Is it angels that will vote for you?

“I appeal to All our GOs especially those with national spread and others to do what RCCG just did for us and connect their appointed officers to join us in this great effort as RCCG had done. We are eagerly waiting for others to do the same.

Wale-Oke expressed gratitude to God for His grace and faithfulness in the life of Adeboye, one of the founding fathers of PFN and the second President of the association – from 1992 to 1995.

While wishing the cleric good health, sound mind and greater exploits, the association prayed God to continue to use him for the emancipation of humanity.

Sanwo-Olu said this in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Gboyega Akosile, on Wednesday in Lagos, as he congratulated Adeboye on the occasion of his 80 years birthday.

He described the renowned cleric and global preacher as an epitome of honesty, dedication and service, whose unblemished records of work in God’s kingdom over the decades had made him a role model.

“Sir, you have been a blessing, not just to the Redeemed Christian Church of God but also to us in Lagos State.

“Your unceasing prayers for us and wise counsel over the years have contributed in no small measure to the phenomenal progress our state has continued to witness. We will forever be grateful,” he said.

The governor said that the general overseer, through diligence and utmost obedience to the Lord, had built one of the largest spiritual institutions anywhere in the world and raised millions of committed followers of Jesus Christ.

He said: “Daddy GO, as Adeboye is popularly called, is one of the respected global evangelists who has contributed immensely to the propagation of the gospel at national and international levels, without any blemish or scandal.

“Because of your work, and of the name and legacy of the RCCG, the gospel has touched the very ends of the earth, in line with the Great Commission.

”In addition, your devoted service in God’s vineyard has helped put Nigeria in the global spotlight as a land of spiritual exploits and greatness.

  • Osinbajo pays glowing tribute to Adeboye at 80

Osinbajo pays glowing tribute to Adeboye at 80

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and wife, Dolapo, have congratulated Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), on his 80th birthday.

Osinbajo’s birthday message to Adeboye was conveyed in a tribute he personally authored on behalf of his wife, Dolapo, on Wednesday in Abuja.

The vice president said that Adeboye had impacted many lives and overseen unprecedented growth of the church; yet the achievements had not affected his behaviour.

“Dolapo and I are honoured to write this tribute to Daddy on his 80th Birthday.

“Very few leaders will ever have the geographical and spiritual reach of influence that Pastor Adeboye has.

“He is neither the Pope nor the leader of the free world, but he heads a denomination that, since his assumption of office as its General Overseer, has established churches in over 198 countries and territories of the world.

“He was, as early as 2008, listed by Newsweek, as one of the 100 most influential people in the world.

“Earlier in 1998, the Holy Ghost Congress of the RCCG in Lekki, Lagos, was reported to be one of the largest Christian gatherings ever, and every year, the RCCG Conventions and

Congresses have live crowds breaking that record. Through the years, miracles of every kind have been commonplace in his ministry.”

According to Osinbajo, the moral of the story is not in these achievements, but in how Adeboye’s behaviour has remained unaffected by them.

“It was Mummy G.O. who said to us once, “see how God uses your father as a smokescreen to do the miracles He wants to do.”

The vice president said that Adeboye realised that apart from God, one could do nothing and that no one could receive anything that was not given to him by God.

“This realisation probably explains why a man so spiritually and intellectually gifted, so revered, so respected by the high and low alike, would still be so genuinely humble, so self-effacing and so unfailingly respectful, even of his subordinates.

“His impeccable integrity, his measured speech and action at all times, his life of many challenges, many wars, his courage, his unshaken faith, his deep love for God, through phenomenal achievements and numbing personal tragedy, are all together the most persuasive evangelical message to all, even those of other faiths, of the grace and mercy of God
in the life of the Saved.

“For us, we are extremely proud that this man of extraordinary faith, courage and humility is one we can call our daddy.

“Daddy, Happy 80th Birthday! As your days, so shall your strength, wisdom and favour with God in Jesus’ name. Amen,” he said.
