  • RCCG names, shames, sacks pastor caught pants down on member’s matrimonial bed

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has excommunicated and sacked a pastor, Gideon Bakare caught unclad in a member’s home trying to have sex with his wife.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that a video surfaced at the weekend which showed Pastor Bakare stripped in the bedroom of a married female church member in Akure.

The woman had pretended she was consenting to the sexual act and had asked the pastor to strip before opening the door for her husband and others to come in to capture him live on video.

Reacting to the development, the RCCG in a statement by its spokesperson, Olaitan Olubiyi said Bakare was sacked for attempted adultery and for putting the church in a bad light.

The statement reads in part: “The Redeemed Christian Church of God has excommunicated Mr Gideon Bakare and relieved him of all ministerial duties in the Mission.

“Bakare, who was an Assistant Pastor in the Church was recently accused of attempted act of adultery with a woman in her matrimonial home in Akure, Ondo State.

“The Church dissociated itself from such immoral act of Mr Bakare and described it as being completely contrary to the core values, doctrines, beliefs and practices of the RCCG and the undiluted word of God.

“The Church, after reviewing the report of her investigation, noted that by his conduct, Bakare has not only tainted his personal reputation but has portrayed the Church in a bad light.

”Mr Bakare has therefore been directed to return all official items in his custody and stay off all associated connections with the Mission with immediate effect.”

Pastor Adeboye, wife, grandkids to stay away as RCCG Churches reopen

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye has said himself, his wife and grandchildren will not attend corporate church service yet.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports the 78 year-old mathematician pastor, fondly referred to as Daddy GO, made this known in his sermon on Sunday.

“We want to thank the Almighty God that some of us will begin to gather again as from next Sunday. I believe that some of you are already gathering in some parts of the world and we believe that you will now begin to enjoy power of corporate prayers once again.

“But as you gather together in all those places, where you are free to gather, please remember those of us who cannot gather with you yet. People like me and my wife cannot gather with you in Lagos because we are over 65 years of age and my grandchildren cannot gather with you yet because they are under 15 years of age.

“So, remember us in prayers, so that very soon, we will be able to join you. And now that you are able to pray together corporately.

“I am sure that your prayers will be far, far more effective against this plague so that very soon, all will be well.

“For those of you who are still at home, I think I will be reaching out to you again for a couple of weeks more, and for those of you who can gather, your Pastors can go back to their assignments, if they still want to join those of us who are still on lockdown, they are welcome of course,” he said.

  • I will not rest until rapists are brought to justice – Adeboye

The General Overseer (GO) of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, says he and his prayer warriors will not rest in prayers until the perpetrators of rape are accorded stiffer penalty.

Adeboye said during a live programme on DOVE TV, monitored in Ibadan on Sunday, that the issue of rape had become rampant in the society.

He described rape as bad and unbiblical that it could leave a permanent scare on the victim for the rest of her life.

According to him, there is no pain that can be compared to the pain on the parents whose daughter had been raped.

“Myself and prayer warriors will not rest in prayers until the perpetrators of this evil are brought to justice, not only in Nigeria but all over the world.

“Everyone who has ever committed rape, particularly in Nigeria and the world, the all-knowing God will fish them.

“As much as I hate death sentence, I think every form of punishment that will be given to a rapist cannot be considered too severe.

“Anyone, who ever thinks of raping someone again, the almighty God will stop them even before they do so and if they insist God will take them away.

“I am calling on every Christian all over the world to please join me in this prayer,” he said.

Adeboye also urged the faithful never to embrace the spirit of ‘good enough’ because it could be an enemy of greatness.

“Your journey to the top begins when you start sensing that what you call ‘good’ is not enough; the greatest enemy is when you think that you are already great while you are still incomplete.

“Your journey to the top begins when you become aware that God reserves the best till the last; the journey to the top begins from your knees and acknowledging Christ as your lord and saviour,” he said.

He, therefore, urged those who had not surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ to do so in order to each the desired place of destiny God had designed for them.

One death, a million protesters – Hope Eghagha

    By Hope Eghagha

Last week in faraway America, George Floyd’s death in the hands of four white policemen sparked protests and riots across America that has shaken America to its foundations. Mr. President Donald Trump sought refuge inside the bunker in the White House! The reactions reminded everyone of the 1968 race riots in the aftermath of Martin Luther King’s assassination. Americans of all colours simply said: ‘enough is enough’ to deaths of unarmed black men in the hands of law enforcement officers! The ‘Black Lives Matter Movement’ which had been ridiculed by establishment America came to haunt racist America with embarrassing force and vengeance.

In the same week, in Nigeria a 22year old undergraduate student of UNIBEN Miss Uwalia Omozuwa had gone to study in a church building owned by Redeemed Christian Church of God in Ikpoba Hill Edo State. Before the night ended, it was discovered that some scoundrels, sons, or a son of the devil had violated the sanctity of the church building, attacked raped Uwadia and left her for dead. She was taken to a hospital but ultimately succumbed to her injuries. She was in a coma throughout her stay in the hospital and so could not narrate what transpired. Tears just kept flowing from her eyes. A social media campaign – JusticeforUwa- took off to draw attention to the dastardly act. But sadly, it did not carry the urgency or power of the forces brought together to fight the George Floyd’s assassination. Somehow in Nigeria such deaths have become routine. Life is cheap. Sad. Tragic. How did we descend into such a cesspit?

We read about deaths of over ten, fifteen or seventy persons in a community in Nigeria. We read that some villages in the north are under the control of criminals. They have appointed their own judges and operate outside the framework of the Nigerian constitution. Lives are routinely violated. But we have become immune to the scandal that is impunity. Yet we have a government, a federal government whose duty it is to secure the federation. There are state governors who claim to be chief executives. I remember the Agatu massacre of over seventy souls and the lackadaisical attitude of the IG and the presidency. I remember Ughweru in Delta State and how ten lives were lost to Fulani herdsmen. I remember the lives routinely lost in Abraka to these same herdsmen who have taken to the forests of these largely agrarian communities.

Whereas in America the issue was police brutality on black men, in Nigeria the focus is on security breaches and the failure of the police to effectively protect the people of this country. Across the world there were protests in support of George Floyd, in support of the black population in the US. There was even a demonstration in Nigeria. But there was no demonstration against the killing of Uwalia and others with a similar fate. At the peak of the crisis the police chief of Houston asked President Donald Trump to ‘shut up’ if he has nothing to offer to the people of his beloved city! Of course, free speech is guaranteed by the American constitution which also recognises 17985 police agencies across the country. Most of the heads of these agencies are locally appointed. They are accountable to the people. Not to a distant IG or an ignorant and racially biased President.

Life is life. Death is death. The life of Uwalia like the lives of thousands lost to criminals in any part of the country, is as important as that of George Floyd. Yet, the whole world stood still to draw attention to Floyd’s death. When a village of seventy is sacked say in Plateau state or in Taraba, we look on and hope that the nightmare will be over. Indeed, there are many issues crying for mass protests in Nigeria. Strangely the human rights and civil liberties organisations have conveniently gone to sleep. The government has failed the people. The government is complicit. No modern state is run the way the country currently bumbles and fumbles on!

The big point is this: policing is local, should be local. Which is one of the ugliest distortions of the federal system that we run. The unitary system of command and control from the military era has eaten deep into our system. How can Abuja effectively and conscientiously police my hometown of Mereje or Kiagbodo or Kaura Namoda or Nnewi or Shaki especially with the multi-ethnic and skewed system that we operate? We currently run a government that concentrates power in the centre. The centre is inefficient. As a result, the entire nation is inefficiently run. We depend on the resources produced by a section of the country to run the inefficient and prebendal bureaucracy in 774 local and 36 state governments.

The time has come for a rethink of our national life. Nigeria is on the brink. We are wasting the lives of too many young people by inefficiency and backward reasoning. The right things are not being said. The right actions are not being taken. I do not have to be a prophet to say that the current set of rulers will not easily relinquish the powers which they have exploited for nearly six decades at the expense of the people. Yet, things must change. The lives of all citizens matter. Christians. Muslims. Southerner. Northerner. They are not just figures. They are human beings. Fathers. Mothers. Brothers. Sisters. Cousins. Flesh and blood.

‘Justice’, writes Wole Soyinka, ‘is the first condition of humanity’. But we cannot have justice if the holders of power do not subscribe to the ideals of justice and fair play. The security arrangements do not favour dispensation of justice. Every life deserves respect. Those murderous herdsmen in bushes across the country should be smoked out. Marauders who sack communities in Kaduna state are not spirits. With the necessary will, they can be and should be brought to justice. Fortunately, the killer of Uwalia has been arrested though his master the pastor is said to be on the run. All cases of murder should be resolved. Policing should be reorganised in such a way that there is local input. The current policing architecture is not working. It is oppressive, self-serving, and protective of some nefarious interests of the people in Abuja. George Floyd and Uwalia Omozuwa though belonged in different climes and circumstances, were victims of a failed system. Too many young girls have suffered the fate that befell Uwalia. Another rape and death case happened in Ibadan during the week. With one voice, let us tell the Lords of the Manor that ‘enough is enough! If they cannot secure the citizens of this country, they have no business being in power.

COVID-19: Lockdown will be over soon – Pastor Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has said the lockdown emplaced to contain the spread of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) would be over sooner than later.

Pastor Adeboye, who stated this in his sermon on Sunday during the June edition of the thanksgiving service of RCCG, commended the efforts of the government in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic.

The popular cleric, who said the lockdown would be over sooner or later, prayed it would be a blessing to everyone who served and worshiped God.

He also prayed for every problem troubling the world to be over before the end of the month.

He thanked God for what the government had been doing to tackle the spread of the virus to its barest minimum through the lockdown initiative.

“We thank God for what the government has been doing. For some people, the lockdown will be over sooner than later. If you learn to worship God, you will see the lockdown becoming an asset rather than a problem,” he said.

In the thanksgiving sermon entitled, “Flying Over Mountains,” Adeboye enjoined everyone to wait on the Lord.

“For you to fly over your mountain, you have to wait on the Lord; read Issiah 40: 28-31, John 19: 28 and Psalm 132: 7-8.

“By waiting on the Lord, you have to invite and offer Him water, give Him food which is worship and treat Him with honour by offering Him praises till He is satisfied.

“By waiting on Him, you can fly over the mountains of failure, poverty, barrenness and physical lockdown,” he said.

SAD! UNIBEN student raped, killed inside Church in Edo

A 100 level student of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) from the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Life Sciences, Miss Vera Uwaila Omozuwa has reportedly been raped and killed inside a church in Edo State.

The 22-year-old victim was said to have been raped on Friday 29th May near Ikpoba Hill in Benin City, at her church, the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

According to reports, the deceased had gone to the church to read as she prepared for the possible school resumption after months of staying at home as a result of the lockdown.

The perpetrators were said to have attacked her at the Ohovbe road branch of the RCCG, raped and smashed her head with a fire extinguisher, leaving her for dead.

Miss Vera was rushed to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), where she battled for her dear life at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

She, however, gave up the ghost Saturday midnight, May 30, following excess loss of blood and deep cuts sustained from the attack.

A family source, who confirmed the development, described the deceased as “an easy-going somebody (sic).” Her remains had been deposited at the morgue.

Nigerians have since taken to Twitter, using #JusticeForUwa, to demand for justice for the fallen student and one of the numerous victims of rape in the country.

  • Covid-19: As soon as lockdown is over, go out and start winning souls – Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has urged Christians to win more souls for Christ during and after the lockdown.

Adeboye stated this on Sunday during a live broadcast to his members on Dove TV.

The cleric said every Christian should be committed to soul winning to enjoy God’s blessing.

Adeboye said, “Some people are already getting consumed by freight because of the lockdown. The flood will come sooner or later. My advice for you is to be wise

“As soon as the lockdown is over. You better spread your wings and win more souls for christ.

“When you rededicate yourself to soul winning, you will begin to enjoy all round blessings and success .”

Pastor Adeboye reveals secret to all round success

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye says preaching of the gospel remains the secret of all round success for every child of God.

Adeboye said this while admonishing the faithful on a live Sunday Service via Dove Television.

The RCCG GO disclosed that soul winning was the secrets of success for every child of God, taking his text from the book of Mark 16: 15-20.

He urged all Christians to preach the gospel so as to become successful in life.

According to him, if you become an active soul winner, you will begin to enjoy many benefits.

The benefits, he said, include constant answered prayers, constant divine touch, supernatural strength and hearing from God.

“You don’t need to be a prophet to hear from God, only be a soul winner. Other benefits are miraculous supply, divine immunity. You don’t have to worry yourself about demonic attacks, evil arrow, poisonous foods; they will not be able to harm you.

“You will begin to enjoy divine partnership, God becomes your partner and you become successful, God will always back you up, you will begin to enjoy divine excellence; become better than your colleagues.

“Also, you will live long if you are winning soul; a Christian that is not winning soul risks not living a long life,” he said.

Adeboye further emphasised that anyone who did not preach the gospel, would be in danger as a Christian.

He, therefore, urged all faithful to be wise by doing what the word of God says about winning souls.

  • COVID-19: ‘If you love yourself, you better stay home’ – Pastor Adeboye [VIDEO]

COVID-19: ‘If you love yourself, you better stay home’ – Pastor Adeboye [VIDEO]

As the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) lockdown announced by President Muhammadu Buhari reaches day 26, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye has advised Nigerians to continue staying at home.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Pastor Adeboye gave the advice during a live service on Sunday while teaching on a message titled ‘power’, stressing that where the word of a president is, there is power.

“Now, there are categories of power. There is political power. Ecclesiastes chapter 8 verse 4 says, where the word of the king is, there is power. You put it in the modern language, where the word of the president is, there is power.

“If you don’t believe that, just check what is happening. President sits in his house, makes a decree or a pronouncement: everybody stay home. If you love yourself, you better stay home,” Pastor Adeboye, fondly referred to as Daddy GO said.

Nigeria has been under lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After President Buhari imposed the lockdown for Lagos and Ogun States, and the federal capital territory (FCT), Abuja as parts of measures to control the disease, other States followed suit.

Even, the Governors of the 36 States of the federation through the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) recently wrote to the President to include inter-state lockdown, overnight curfew and compulsory wearing of face masks in the public in his next pronouncements.

As of March 30 when Buhari first pronounced the 14-day lockdown, there were 97 cases of COVID-19 in the country but on April 13 when the lockdown elapsed, the cases had risen to 323. The President, however, extended the lockdown by two weeks, explaining that “alarming” increase in cases made him do so.

Nigerians are anxious to know the next presidential directive on the lockdown as there are currently 1,182 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country.
