  • COVID-19: ‘The journey to normalcy has started’ – Pastor Adeboye

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye has said the return journey to normalcy from the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has begun.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Pastor Adeboye made this known on Sunday, while asking that the government should include men of God in committees dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

According to Pastor Adeboye, the Coronavirus would start receding and the lockdown would be suspended soon. He said the government should include religious leaders (Imam and archbishop) to the country’s welfare committee.

He also revealed that Nigeria and Africa would overcome COVID-19 before the rest of the world, advising Nigerians to suspend all forms of travelling for the time being.

The revered man of God, fondly referred to as Daddy GO, said he has only one more week to be conducting online programs.

He thanked the Nigerian government for the effort so far in tackling the virus, while highlighting some of the contributions of the RCCG.

“I have good news for us. I believe that the return journey to normalcy has started. And I am believing God that your pastors will soon return to their normal duties.

“Maybe, at most, probably I will spend one more Sunday with you after which the pastors would be back to their duties in Jesus name.

“The return journey to normalcy might not be very very rapid or sudden. It might be gradual but it will be steady. I sincerely hope though that when the battle is over, we will remember to give all the glory to God.

“We thank God for the government. We thank God for all the efforts they have made. I believe they have done creditably because they have had to deal with a situation, a kind they have never seen before.

“But I will probably humbly suggest just as a Nigerian that maybe in the future they will include in all their committees men of God. I am not talking of small boys like myself but I am talking about some Chief Imams, some Archbishops. So that they can help them with the spiritual aspect of this warfare.

“I sincerely do hope that we will all admit it is not our wisdom, not our abilities, not our planning that has brought us whatever victory we have already gotten. We need to return all the glory to God because the elders would say, the rain can send you to the same hut more than once. We need to really really give all the glory to God because we don’t want the victories that we have won so far to be reversed”.

Pastor Adeboye further stated “Even after the lockdown, any journey abroad that is not very crucial, postpone it, because God is going to give us victory here in Nigeria and in Africa, even before it extends to the rest of the world”.

  • PASTOR ADEBOYE: ‘God told me Coronavirus won’t end until world goes on compulsory holiday’

The General overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adeboye on Sunday urged Christians and Nigerians to be careful and not to be ‘unwise amid the Coronavirus pandemic.’

Speaking at the church’s live broadcast monitored by TheNewsGuru(TNG) on Sunday, Adeboye, in his Easter message, said the pandemic would not end until God proves to the world that he is God.

He said that although some prophets had said the pandemic would end at the end of March, God told him that there would be Coronavirus until the world goes on a compulsory holiday.

The cleric maintained that although some prophets had claimed that the disease would be wiped out by rain, Coronavirus will not die.

Recall that Prophet T B Joshua had on March 2nd revealed that he had a vision that the killer virus will be wiped out.

The cleric in a post on his Facebook page said: “Since yesterday, when the Lord brought the revelation about the rain and that this rain will wipe away the epidemic coronavirus, I asked the Lord to make this happen in the place where the Coronavirus started which is Wuhan, China.

But Adeboye on Sunday said, “It will be unwise to be careless.

“They were those who said it would be over by the end of March; then a prophet said there would be heavy rain and Coronavirus would be over.

“But God told your papa who is not a prophet but a pastor that it will be there until the whole world has had a compulsory holiday.

“Until he proves to the whole world that he is God. He wants to prove to the world that he is in charge. Some people don’t know how to slow down and God knows how to apply brakes.

“ I want to assure you that tomorrow will be alright. I hope you are enjoying your holiday because I am.”

A Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) parish in Warri, Delta State, where security operatives killed a 28-year-old man named Joseph Pessu on Thursday, has set its pews aside and neatly arranged food packs in place.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports the RCCG parish is the Champions Cathedral parish in Warri Province 5, and the food packs are for onward distribution to members, and neighbours of the church, who are in need.

According to sources, the church has always carried out this goodwill back to back, but that this time around, the church is doing it to ameliorate the effects of the government stay at home order in the face of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

Recall that COVID-19 broke out in the country in late February and governments at all levels, including the Delta State Government, put containment measures in place.

As part of the containment measures, the government closed all borders to avoid more imported cases of COVID-19. Also, citizens were advised to stay at home to avoid community transmission.

The government has also banned large gatherings, leaving pews empty, as churches now find new ways to hold programmes.

However, with the stay at home orders being enforced across States of the federation, there are attendant consequences. Many Nigerians have complained of lack of power supply and hunger.

While the government is distributing cash to the vulnerable, and individuals are donating funds for the poor in the society, churches are not left out.

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor E.A Adeboye, has released prophecies for the year 2020.

The revered cleric listed incidents that would happen in the New Year, during the cross over service at the Redemption Camp in Ogun State, Southwest Nigeria.

Pastor Adeboye called on Nigerians to pray for the nation, while announcing the annual RCCG fasting and prayers will begin January 11.

  • VACATION TRAGEDY! RCCG pastor, son, daughter drown inside pool in Spain

A 52-year-old pastor of The Redeemed Christian Church of God RCCG, Gabriel Diya, his 16-year-old son, Praise Emmanuel Diya and 9-year-old daughter, Comfort Diya, drowned inside the swimming pool in the Costa del Sol resort in Southern Spain on Tuesday December 24th.

Gabriel Diya who was until his death the Minister in charge of the Open Heavens of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Charlton, South-East London, was on a family vacation with his wife and their children. Unfortunately, his daughter Comfort got into difficulty while playing in one of the 21 swimming pools in the resort.

Himself and his son jumped in to try to save her but also struggled in the water. Despite poolside attempts to resuscitate them, all three died at the scene. His wife, Olubunmi, who was with them prayed fervently as CPR was performed on her husband and children. Sadly, they were all confirmed dead by the doctors.

Post-mortem examinations carried out on Christmas Day confirmed death by drowning. After the incident, police carried out an investigation and could find nothing wrong with the pool’s filtration and pump system. The pool has since been reopened to the public.

The UK’s central office of RCCG has since described the unfortunate incident as a “tragic accident”. In a post shared on Facebook, the church said

“With heavy hearts, we extend our condolences to the family, parish, friends and associates of Area Pastor Gabriel Diya who sadly passed away, along with two of his children – Comfort Diya (9 years old) and Praise Emmanuel Diya (16 years old) – in a tragic incident while on a family holiday in Spain on 24th December 2019.

Pastor Gabriel Diya, who was also the Parish Pastor of Open Heavens, Charlton in London was aged 52. He is survived by his wife Assistant Pastor Olubunmi Diya and their daughter.

At this very difficult time, our prayers are for Pastor Gabriel Diya’s family, the parishes that were under his supervision, friends, associates, members of RCCG and the general public”.
