Pastor Adeboye reveals what his ‘daughter’ who was asked to inflate contract from N3m to N33m did

The general overseer of the Redeemed Christian church of God, RCCG Pastor Enoch Adeboye has narrated how one of his spiritual daughters shunned corruption when asked to inflate the price of a road construction project from N3 million to N33 million.

Adeboye, while speaking at the annual RCCG conference along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, noted that corruption persists in the society because Christians who are supposed to make a difference have been compromised.

The general overseer, Adeboye further called on Christians to stay away from a lifestyle of double standards. He said: “One of my daughters got a contract to tar a road in one of the states in Nigeria. She gave a proposal of N3 million, but they asked her to put N33 million. She was surprised, turned down the offer and said I am a child of God, how will I spend the money? They looked at her as if she was somebody who dropped from the sky.”

In another instance: “Another child of mine told another story. She applied for a contract. They gave her to go and tar a road. She got to the road and found that the road was already tarred. She came back and told them there must have been a mistake. They said,” What is your problem, collect your money and give us our own.”

He, however, emphasized that corruption could be eradicated if Christians chose not to compromise, even in the face of adversity.

He continued saying: “We talk about corruption in Nigeria. Why do you think corruption has become so deep? it is because we Christians, who are supposed to be peculiar people, are not making any difference. It’s so difficult to even know who is who.

“You must be as pure as light, people must be able to see you at a distance and know that this is a candidate for heaven. In your behaviour, character, you must be different. If you want to compromise because of promotion, let them take their promotion because you are a peculiar people. The world will hate you because of your standard, because your standard is that of God.”

Gov. Umaru Bago of Niger has condemned the burning of the Redeemed Christian Church of God by suspected hoodlums in Kontagora town.

Bago, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Print Media, Aisha Wakaso, issued on Sunday in Minna, described the attack on the Church “as mindless and cowardly.”

NAN reports that suspected hoodlums in the early hours of Saturday looted items and set ablaze the Church located along the Federal College of Education (FCE) road in Kontagora.

He said the barbaric act of burning and looting of the Church was not only an attack on the Christian community, but a direct affront to the peace and unity cherished in the state.

Bago said: “We totally condemn this act and tell our Christian brothers and sisters, as well as other Niger inhabitants that the government prioritises their safety, security, and freedom of religion.

“Our state utilises its diversity and the peaceful coexistence of all religious and ethnic groups. We will not condone this act of violence,” he said.

The governor said he had directed all the relevant security agencies to conduct an immediate and complete inquiry into the incident.

He vowed that the perpetrators of the horrible act would be caught and duly prosecuted.

Bago urged the people of Kontagora to be calm and refrain from reprisal attacks while  they should continue to work to preserve the peace and togetherness as one nation.

He said his administration would continue to take all the necessary precautions to protect all places of worship in order to prevent the recurrence of such regrettable and reprehensible acts.

Bago also called on the residents of the state to be watchful and report any suspicious activity to the authorities to avoid further occurrences of such heinous atrocities.

He pledged the state government’s support to the members of the affected Church and the broader Christian community.

Pastor Adeboye Criticizes Makeup: Calls It a sign of distrust in God’s creation

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), expressed strong views on makeup during a ministers’ conference in Ogun State on Saturday. Adeboye argued that women who wear makeup do not trust in God’s perfect creation. He suggested that such women believe God didn’t do a perfect job in creating them.

He stated, “When you marry, you cut your coat according to your clothes. Some of you want to be like the people of the world. I can’t even imagine some of the things I see now. It wasn’t so in the beginning. When God created you, He did a great job, you are wonderful, perfectly made, and you cannot find any other fellow like you. You are special.”

Adeboye further asserted that attempting to enhance one’s beauty with artificial makeup is an act of foolishness. “When you begin to paint, and you think you can improve on what God has already done, you are a fool. You can never improve on what God has done,” he declared.

BARBARIC! Hoodlums set RCCG church ablaze

Some hoodlums have burnt down the Redeemed Christian Church of God (Champion Zonal Headquarters) situated along Federal College of Education (FCE) Road in Kontagora, Niger State.

The incident occurred at the early hours of Saturday.

It was gathered that a similar incident occurred 10 years ago when the church was set ablaze by some unknown arsonists who had warned that the church building should not be completed.

Condemning the latest attack on the church, the state Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Niger State chapter, Most Rev. Dr. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, described the incident as barbaric and uncalled for.

He noted, “There is freedom of worship in Niger State, I am sure by the time the government and security agencies take action, it will go a long way to address any form of tension that may want to escalate beyond control.

“We are hoping that the law will take its course. To be frank, issues like this must be tamed and people who have done this should be fished out and made to face the law.”

Also, when contacted, an Assistant Pastor of the church, Pastor Samson Ogbebor, explained that the incident occurred around 3:00 am on Saturday.

He stated that he got a distress call that the church was on fire. According to him, “On getting there, I met a church that has been in existence for the past 20 years now burnt down and properties looted by hoodlums.

“This church has faced lots of challenges. About 10 years ago, hoodlums came and burnt it down completely and with self efforts we were able to erect it again.

“They have made several unsuccessful attempts and have refused us the permission to roof it properly and we decided to be using it like that for worship but look at what they have done again.”

Also, an Elder in the church, Mr John Aboje, said members of the church will not be discouraged by the incident but will continue to be good Christians and good citizens of the country.

He appealed to Governor Umaru Bago, the Emir of Kontagora, Alh. Muhammadu Barau Mu’azu II and all relevant security agencies to treat the incident with all seriousness.

“The incident has been reported to the Division ‘A’ Police Station in Kontagora for investigation and to bring the perpetrators to book,” he added.

  • Idowu Iluyomade: City of David undergoes audit over alleged N320m debt

Idowu Iluyomade: City of David undergoes audit over alleged N320m debt

The Redeemed Christian Church of God has commenced an audit on the finance accounts of the City of David parish in the Victoria Island area of Lagos State.

TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) reports that the audit is coming barely a week after the church’s senior pastor Idowu Iluyomade was suspended on June 1 for three months by the council of elders.

It was gathered that the cleric was suspended over the church’s finances and his alleged resistance to be transferred from the parish.

Iluyomade was asked to report to the churh’s headquarters after being replaced by Pastor Charles Kpandei from RCCG Resurrection Parish of Region 11.

Kpandei resumed at the parish on Sunday, June 9, preaching on the subject of heaven.

During the service, it was announced that the church paid about N15 million for the construction of the Trinity Tower between June 1 and 8, however, the congregation was told that the parish had an outstanding N320 million debt.

A source told Church Times that the parish is being audited by a notable audit firm amid an alleged N320 million debt.

The source said it was not a practice for the RCCG to recruit an independent body to conduct an audit.

“Iluyomade, the erstwhile pastor of the church, was suspended on June 1 following complaints and allegations against him. He was asked to resume at the church’s headquarters.

“The parish is currently being audited by KPMG, which is not an RCCG financial and audit practice. It was necessary to get an external auditor because before now, most of the provinces under the Apapa Family were not audited by RCCG auditors,” the source said.

Recall, Iluyomade’s wife held a lavish party a week after a prominent member of the church and the former group chief executive officer of Access Holdings, Herbert Wigwe, his wife, Chizoba and son Chizi and several others died in a helicopter crash in California, United States on February 9.

After the party, social media was flooded with stories that the Iluyomades were not sensitive to the plight of the Wigwe’s, who until death were strong members of the parish.

Netizens argued that the entire Church should have set some days aside to mourn Herbert, wife and son, adding that the party held at Eko Hotel was done in bad taste.

The church was conspicuously left out of the Wigwe’s family funeral.

Pastor Adeboye tells Nigerians what to do amidst biting hardship

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has admonished Nigerians experiencing hard times to call on God for help.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that the clergyman made this known during the Thanksgiving service held on June 2nd, which had the theme ‘Lifter Up of My Head’ at the RCCG headquarters in Ebute-Metta.

Adeboye, while acknowledging that the country is currently facing hard times, urged his members across the country to call on God, who is more than enough to supply their needs.

He said, “If you need provision, if things are hard and I know things are hard for quite a few of us, call on the one whose name is Jehovah El-Shaddai, the God who is more than enough.

“Call on Him – the one who is more than enough and He will meet your needs…He has many ways, depending on what is your need.

“When all ways are blocked, call on Him who is called the way when you don’t even know what’s going on.”

RCCG’s pastor whose wife threw lavish party after Herbert Wigwe’s death suspended

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has suspended the senior pastor of City of David Parish Idowu Iluyomade, whose wife, Siju held a glamorous 60th birthday celebration a week after the death of Herbert Wigwe, a strong member of the Church who died in a helicopter crash.

A letter conveying the suspension was issued over the weekend, TheNewsGuru.Com learnt.

Quick checks by this publication on the church’s Instagram page showed that posts from the Sunday service did not feature Iluyomade nor his wife Siju.

It was gathered that, the church governing council suspended PID like he’s popularly known, for three months after a panel was set up to investigate some of the allegations against him.

“It was not Pastor (Enoch) Adeboye that suspended him. The governing council decided to suspend him. I think it’s a decision in the right direction. Though some believe it is coming late. They needed to investigate some of the things people were saying against him and the church,” a top pastor in the church was quoted as saying.

Iluyomade had also been replaced by Pastor Charles Kpandei from RCCG Resurrection Parish of Region 11.

Recall, Iluyomade’s wife held a lavish party a week after a prominent member of the church and the former group chief executive officer of Access Holdings, Herbert Wigwe, his wife, Chizoba and son Chizi and several others died in a helicopter crash in California, United States on February 9.

The convention held at its campground in Kassa, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.

The annual regional convention was suspended due to the incessant security challenges in the state, particularly in Kassa and neighbouring communities.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the event on Sunday, Pst. Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of RCCG, promised that  henceforth, the convention would be organised annually.

Adeboye, who promised to continually commit Plateau into prayers, added that the current challenges confronting the state would soon be over.

“We were uncertain if this meeting was going to hold this year, but I told them that this year, I must come to Plateau.

”I told them that because light is not to run from darkness, it is darkness that will run from light.

“So, I said no more, and as the Lord lives, henceforth, I will be here for this convention every year,” he said.

Speaking at the event, Gov. Caleb Mutfwang urged participants to pray for the return of lasting peace to the state.

He also called on them to promote the positive image of the state in their respective locations, adding that his administration had put modalities in place to tackle all security challenges.

“I stand on behalf of the people of this state and, perhaps the church in northern Nigeria, to welcome our father in the Lord to Plateau.

“Your coming is symbolic; before now, the testimony about Plateau is that it’s a no go area, but we believe that the days of such testimony is over.

“Plateau will be a land to be desired and your coming has broken the gate of iron and the glory of the Lord is returning to the land.

“We want to thank you for being led by the Lord to this land of glory, and we trust that as you leave your blessings here, this glory that has been sparked around us will not depart from us.

“I want to thank all of you that have come from far and near and tell it to all who care to listen that Plateau is ready to receive her visitors, so nobody should be afraid of coming to the state,” he said.

The 2024 regional convention had the theme: “Promoted for a Purpose”.
