    Chelsea’s Kepa to replace Courtois at Real Madrid

    Chelsea goalkeeper,  Kepa Arrizabalaga will be joining Real Madrid on loan this season.

    Real Madrid and Chelsea have reached an agreement on the loan deal.

    This deal was made known by football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano on Saturday.

    Real Madrid Belgian Goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois is injured and will be out for a lengthy period of time, hence his replacement with Kepa.

    Kepa has also reportedly agreed personal terms to move to Santiago Bernabéu.

    The deal does not include an obligation/permanent move for the 28-year-old shot-stopper.

    On his Twitter handle, Fabrizio Romano wrote, “Kepa to Real Madrid, here we go! Loan deal verbally agreed between Real and Chelsea, no obligation/permanent move for Spanish GK.

    “Kepa immediately said yes to Real after talks with Bayern over the last 3/4 days.

    “He already said goodbye, ready to travel.”

    Former Real Madrid GM Jorge Valdano is eager to see the arrival of PSG star Kylian Mbappe.

    Inside the final year of his PSG deal, Mbappe has been banished to train with the B squad this week as he refuses to trigger the 12-month option in his contract.

    Valdano is keen to see Real Madrid rescue the striker from Paris this month.

    Speaking from Luque, Paraguay, Valdano told Efe: “If people are still angry with him, don’t worry, I’ll pick him up at the airport.

    “At the moment it is not a case. It is, for now, a non-case. I hope it becomes a case…”

    Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo Goes is hoping France international Kylian Mbappe joins the La Liga club.

    Rodrygo is impressed by Madrid’s new additions.

    The Galacticos have re-signed Brahim Diaz from AC Milan, with Jude Belligham arriving from Borussia Dortmund.

    Rodrygo said: “We are signing well, they are doing a good job gathering the experience of those of us who are already working with guys for the future, but who are also going to help a lot in the present.

    “At Real Madrid it’s very complicated because Mbappé or Kane come every year… When I arrived there was a lot of talk about Pogba…”.

    Rodrygo also said: “I have no information about the (Kylian) Mbappé case. Let’s wait and see what happens. I hope he comes. He is going to help us a lot, he is a crack, but we don’t know anything.”

    Agent Andre Cury has recalled Vinicius Junior rejecting Barcelona for Real Madrid in 2019.

    Cury, then Barca chief scout, insists Vinicius Junior was joining the Blaugrana when leaving Flamengo before Real stepped in.

    He told Cadena SER: “Everything was arranged and Madrid found out that he was in Barcelona and they invited him to go to Madrid, but Madrid didn’t even know him. Vinicius went to Madrid because they chose his agents.

    “We had been working on the transfer for three years and his agents betrayed us. Vinicius told me that he was culé. He cried with Barça’s 6-1 against PSG.

    “The Vinicius thing is a matter of betrayal. Rodrygo was tied up, but he decided not to enter. We were talking with Vinicius, but when he betrayed us we went for Rodrygo. For me Rodrygo is more complete than Vinicius.

    “We went to Santos to negotiate for him, we did not close the agreement and Madrid arrived with much more financial strength. His father told me that if he arranged it between Santos and Barcelona, Rodrygo would go to FC Barcelona for less money.”

    We’ve reserved the number 9 jersey for Mbappe – Real Madrid

    Real Madrid have created an impression that Kyllian Mbappe will wear the vacant number 9 jersey previously worn by outgone forward Kareem Benzema.

    The number 9 position has been vacant since French forward Mbappe signed for Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Arabian league.

    Although, Benzema has put pen to paper for Al-Ittihad, his contract at Real Madrid runs till June 1st, 2023.

    Mbappe has been heavily linked with the Spanish giants for some time, with at least two offers knocked down in the past.

    Another big-money approach could be on the cards this summer, with Real willing to pay up to €200 million.

    Mbappe is eager to make a move to Spain after informing PSG that he won’t trigger an extension option in his current contract.

    His current terms are due to expire in 2024, meaning that the Ligue 1 champions are under pressure to sell while they can still make money.

    However, talks are still ongoing between Real Madrid and PSG  for Mbappe but the French side is still hope the French forward would stay longer in Paris.

    Chelsea, City , Madrid to feature in new FIFA 32-team Club World Cup format

    The first ever 32-team Club World Cup format will be held in the United States in 2025,world soccer’s governing body FIFA  said on Friday.

    Recall that FIFA had confirmed in March that the revamped Club World Cup will be played every four years from June 2025. The FIFA Council unanimously appointed the United States as the competition’s hosts for the first edition of the expanded format.

    The United States will also host the 2024 Copa America while they are also co-hosts of the 2026 World Cup along with Mexico and Canada.

    Confederation champions from 2021-2024 will be eligible to play in the new Club World Cup, which means Chelsea, Real Madrid and last season’s Champions League winners Manchester City have qualified from Europe.

    “The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 will be the pinnacle of elite professional men’s club football,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said.

    “With the required infrastructure in place together with a massive local interest, the United States is the ideal host to kick off this new, global tournament.”

    The current version of the FIFA Club World Cup — an annual competition with seven teams — will be discontinued after 2023.

    FIFA said they have also agreed to postpone the launch of the bidding process for the 2030 World Cup for “additional consultation with all key stakeholders.

    The relevant bidding regulations will be presented for approval at the next FIFA Council meeting, due to take place in September/October 2023, with the bidding process to be officially launched thereafter,” it said.

    “The expected appointment of the host(s) by the FIFA Congress will also move from Q3 2024 to Q4 2024.”

    The FIFA Congress is due to take place in Bangkok, Thailand on May 17, 2024.

    Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric admits he’s made a decision about his international future.

    The veteran was asked about his plans after Croatia were beaten by Spain in the Nations League final on Sunday.

    Modric said: “I have decided my future, the choice is very clear in my mind, but I will not say or announce anything today.”

    The Ballon d’Or made his debut for Croatia on March 1, 2006, shortly before the World Cup in Germany. He has since made 166 appearances.

    Eden Hazard has rubbished claims of retirement and taken a swipe at Real Madrid as he leaves the Spanish giants.

    Hazard has agreed to cut short his Real contract a year early, sparking talk of him hanging up the boots.

    But the former Chelsea captain told RTBF: : “Honestly, I still don’t know what I’ll do.

    “After three difficult years i just want to spend time with my family, go on holiday like everyone does. I read a lot about myself these days, a lot of stupid stuff.

    “Going to RWDM with my brother? I don’t know if it’s a stupid thing, we will see…

    “Honestly, I still don’t have the answers.

    “That said, I’m still able to be a professional footballer, my physique can do it. I rested for two-three years, I still have energy.”

    Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe admits he expects to play out next season with the Ligue 1 champions.

    The striker is about to enter the final year of his contract and has no intention of extending it – which he informed PSG via letter.

    A move to Real Madrid has been mooted, but Mbappe says: “I’ve already answered that. My objective is to stay, that’s my only option for now. I’m waiting for questions from now on about the match of my national team.

    Much has been made of the letter he sent to PSG, informing the club hierarchy that he would not be extended his stay with the club. but Mbappe feels as though this has been blown out of proportion.

    “I don’t think that a letter kills someone, I don’t care about that. I didn’t think it would offend anyone: I just sent a letter.

    “It has not been sent now, there are things that surprise me and I insist, I expect questions about the match.

    “People can talk, criticize…. I know why I do what I do and why I say what I say. People don’t know all the ins and outs”.

    Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo Goes says Kylian Mbappe would be welcome by the players.

    The PSG striker is again being linked with Real after declaring he would not be extending his current deal, which runs to 2024.

    “For me, 10, because he’s a phenomenon, he’s one of the best players in the world and we know that we need a player there, in the position he likes to play,” said Rodrygo.

    “I’d be very excited if Mbappe came, but he has a contract in Paris and we have to respect that.

    “The sooner [he joins] the better, but if Mbappe can’t come now, there are other players. Florentino [Perez] and [Carlo] Ancelotti will decide what’s best for Real Madrid.”
