Kyllian Mbappe speaks on joining Real Madrid

Paris Saint-Germain forward, Kylian Mbappe, has reacted to reports that he asked to leave the French champions next season.

According to the Frenchman, he still remains a player of PSG and has not asked to join any Spanish clubside next season.

He said that the letter he sent to the Ligue 1 champions was leaked with the aim of “damaging his image”

Mbappe has also taken to Twitter on Tuesday, to label reports that he wants to join Real Madrid this summer as “lies”, adding he is “very happy” with the French giants.

On Monday it emerged that Mbappe had written to PSG to tell them he would not be triggering the clause in his current deal that would see it extended until the summer of 2025, meaning he is set to become a free agent next summer.

In a statement today, Mbappe said the club has known his decision for nearly a year, adding that “the only aim of the letter was to confirm what had already been spoken about previously”.

  • I’ve never discussed an extension with PSG – Mbappe

I’ve never discussed an extension with PSG – Mbappe

France International, Kylia Mbappe has denied claims of blindsiding Paris Saint-Germain with his letter about their contract renewal.

Mbappe has stunned football by informing PSG, by written communication, that he will not be taking up the 12-month option in his current deal – which runs to 2024.

It leaves PSG with the option of either selling him this summer or allowing Mbappe to leave for nothing in a year’s time.

For his part, Mbappe insists PSG have long known his plans: “The board of directors has been informed since 15 July 2022 of my decision not to renew beyond 2024, and the letter sent on Monday is only intended to confirm what I had already told them.

“I have never discussed an extension with PSG.”

Real Madrid are regarded as favourites for Mbappe, though Manchester United, which are about to be taken over by Sheikh Jassim, could come into equation given their new Qatari ties.
