Carlo Ancelotti reveals last job before retirement

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti admits the current job will be his last in management.

Ancelotti has made his decision: after his current tenure at Real Madrid, the Italian’s coaching career will come to an end.

Speaking to Il Messaggero, Ancelotti said it would make little sense to take another managerial job after his second stint at the Bernabéu: “24 titles in my career? The truth is that these numbers do not matter to me.

“I’ll think about that at the end, when taking stock makes more sense. Now I am focused on training; I like the daily work. Until a few years ago, my priority was tactics. Now I focus on human relations, getting to know people and new generations.

“This stage at Madrid will bring an end to my career. After Real Madrid, I will retire. Real Madrid is at the very top of football. It makes sense to call it a day after this experience.

“If we’re talking about trophies, Madrid and Milan are the teams I feel most connected to. This current Madrid side is at a very high level and not only in the technical sense. It is a very serious team, with humble players: even the stars keep their feet on the ground. Modric, Casemiro and Benzema, the most experienced players, manage the group. The quality is indisputable, but that alone is not enough. The human aspect is fundamental and this Madrid side is unique.”

Real Madrid president, Perez speaks on re-signing C.Ronaldo

Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, has spoken about resigning former Madrista Christiano Ronaldo.

Perez hinted that the Champions League champions will not be resigning Ronaldo due to his age.

Ronaldo is poised on playing Champions League football next season and his present club Man Utd will not feature in the UEFA Champions League.

Despite the five-time Ballon d’Or winner scoring 24 goals in all competitions last season, United were only able to finish sixth in the Premier League

Although he has been linked with most of Europe’s top clubs, no concrete offer has been submitted for the 37-year-old.

Footage has emerged on social media of Perez’s reaction when he was asked by a fan to re-sign Ronaldo.

Perez said: “Sign Cristiano? Again? He’s 38 years old.”

Meanwhile, Ronaldo will only turn 38 next year in February.

Benzema scores as Real Madrid win fifth Super Cup trophy

Karim Benzema continued his Ballon d’Or pursuit with a 324th goal for European champions Real Madrid as they beat Eintracht Frankfurt to lift the Uefa Super Cup in Helsinki.

Ancelotti named the same XI that started the Champions League final and there was a swagger to Real’s play that comes with being crowned European champions for the 14th time – and now adding a fifth Super Cup to their trophy cabinet.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side, who beat Liverpool to win the Champions League in May, took the lead when David Alaba tapped into an empty net, with Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp stranded following Casemiro’s header back across goal.

Benzema doubled the Spanish giants’ lead after the break with a first-time finish from Vinicius Jr’s cross to move second on Real’s all-time goalscoring list, overtaking Raul and behind only Cristiano Ronaldo who has 450 goals.

Frankfurt, making their Super Cup debut, had moments of their own – the best when Daichi Kamada was sent through early on, but the Europa League winners looked second best once Real hit their stride.

  • Real Madrid bigger than every player – Modric hits out at Mbappe

Real Madrid bigger than every player – Modric hits out at Mbappe

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has lashed out at Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe for snubbing a move to Santiago Bernabeu.

Modric was instrumental in Los Merengues’ run to another Champions League triumph last season, and believes the team is strong whether or not Mbappe is around.

“Mbappe made his decision, that’s his right and now he’s living with that decision,” Modric told Sportske.

“We all thought he would come to us, but it didn’t happen…. Now what? We’re not going to crucify him.

“Mbappe is a great player, but as I always repeat, no footballer is more important than the club, Real Madrid are the biggest, above all players, and it will always be like that.”

Such was Modric’s influence in the comeback against Paris Saint-Germain last season, the Croatian was given a renewed role in midfield and one which he hopes to keep even with the arrival of Aurelien Tchouameni.

“It was rare to see [Lionel] Messi, after so many Clasicos, in another shirt,” Modric said.

“With Neymar and Mbappe, they have a collection of talent but we are Real Madrid and when we found our rhythm, with the fantastic support from the fans, we simply crushed them.

“It was a spectacular night, one of the most impressive for me, since that victory the perception of the fans changed with regards to our potential in the Champions League, the scepticism disappeared.”

  • Rudiger reveals favourite name to be called in Madrid

Antonio Rudiger has revealed he wants to be called ‘Rudi’ after joining the European Champions, Real Madrid.

TheNewsGuru reports that the former Chelsea defender said he is focused to work and can be very funny off the pitch.

“I’m a player with a strong character, but I think it’ s best to leave the rest to others and not to talk too much about yourself. I think it’s hard to improve your speed, but I’m lucky because it’s something I have thanks to my genetics and I’m really pleased about that, he said.

“On the pitch, I’m focused exclusively on work, but off the pitch I’m funny and I like to laugh and make people have a good time. But most of all I can laugh at myself. Since Toni Kroos is already in the team, and I don’t like to be called Antonio, I’d like people to call me Rudi”.

  • UCL: Real Madrid defeated Liverpool in final to ridicule Salah – Rodrygo

UCL: Real Madrid defeated Liverpool in final to ridicule Salah – Rodrygo

Real Madrid star Rodrygo has revealed that the La Liga side had to defeat Liverpool in the Champions League final in order to ridicule Mohamed Salah.

“We had heard his statements, yes. We get everything,” said Rodrigo on the YouTube podcast Podpah.

“Sometimes it’s not even about winning. If someone provokes you, you mainly want to win so that you can catch them there later. We had resolved that we had to win in order to ridicule Salah.”

According to Rodrygo, Luka Modric had some words for Salah when Real’s players made a guard of honour for the losing finalist.

“Salah passed us visibly shaken. Modric stood in front and said to him ‘Okay okay, better next time’. When I heard that I started laughing really hard.”

  • Salah breaks silence on UCL final loss to Real Madrid

Egyptian and Liverpool winger, Mohamed Salah, has claimed they Liverpool  “deserved” to win the Champions League final and not  Real Madrid.

The Reds’ hopes of becoming European champions for the seventh time and securing a third trophy of the season were ended by the LaLiga champions in Paris.

Salah himself was denied six times by an inspired Thibaut Courtois in goal for Madrid.

“We deserved to win, we had more chances, I got two or three quite big ones but, each time, Thibaut Courtois made incredible saves.

“It’s his job, Real recruited him for that. He earned his Man of the Match award. It was his evening,” Salah told L’Equipe.

  • Rüdiger joins Real Madrid from Chelsea

Rüdiger joins Real Madrid from Chelsea

Germany defender Antonio Rüdiger is joining Real Madrid from Chelsea, both clubs and the player confirmed on Thursday.

“Real Madrid have reached an agreement to sign Antonio Rüdiger, who joins the club on a four-year deal,” the freshly-crowned UEFA Champions League winners from Spain said.

Spanish champions Real Madid added that the official presentation would take place on June 20.

“I’m proud to announce that I’ll be joining Real Madrid. I’m super excited for all the challenges ahead and can’t wait to play my first games for this huge club,” Rüdiger tweeted.

  • Messi speaks on handing Ballon d’Or to Benzema

Messi speaks on handing Ballon d’Or to Benzema

Lionel Messi says there can be “no doubts” Karim Benzema will be a worthy Ballon d’Or winner after the Real Madrid star cemented his frontrunner status with Champions League glory.

The France international is the favourite to succeed Messi as the next recipient of the game’s most prestigious individual prize after inspiring his side to domestic and European success this term.

Benzema netted 44 goals in 46 games across all competitions this term for Carlo Ancelotti’s side and led them in Paris to victory over Liverpool on Saturday as captain.

Messi has added to his trophy cabinet with a Ligue 1 title at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in his first year away from FC Barcelona.

But he certainly feels Benzema has earned his shot at the award.

“I think there are no doubts,” Messi had said on Monday night when asked if the Frenchman would be a fitting successor as the Ballon d’Or winner.

“It is very clear that Benzema has had a spectacular year and ended up consecrating himself with the UEFA Champions League, being fundamental from the round of 16 onwards in all the games.

“I think there are no doubts this year.”

Messi also reflected on his triumph in 2021, when he defended the crown he won in 2019 against Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski.

That was after the award was cancelled for 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Lewandowski would have been many people’s favourite in 2020 and went on to break Gerd Muller’s long-standing record of 40 Bundesliga goals in a single season the following year.

Yet he was forced to make do with second behind Messi after he helped Argentina to their first Copa America success in 28 years.

Messi acknowledged Lewandowski would have been a worthy winner in 2020, but on reflection feels he deserved the 2021 triumph he was awarded.

“What I said at that moment was from my heart and because I really felt that way,” Messi said, alluding to his comments at the 2021 Ballon d’Or ceremony.

“I said that he deserved the Ballon d’Or before, because the year before it had seemed to me that he had been the best.

“But the year that I won, he wasn’t the best. I just said that. But let him take it as he wants. Everyone says what they want and obviously he can express himself and say what he wants.

“Honestly, I don’t share what he said, but I didn’t give it much importance either. That’s it, he can say what he wants, I’m not interested.”(
