I’m not thinking about Real Madrid – AC Milan star

AC Milan midfielder Brahim Diaz admits he’s not thinking about parent club Real Madrid.

Los Blancos signed the former Malaga youth player from Manchester City in 2019, but he found game time hard to come by at the Bernabeu. He has been making a name for himself in Italy since arriving in 2020 and made his Spain debut earlier this year.

“I’m focused on Milan, which are a big club and there’s not much more to say,” Brahim told Radio MARCA.

“I wish [Real Madrid] all the best but I’m here now.”

Despite his lacking of playing time under Zinedine Zidane, the 22-year-old had nothing but positive words for the former Real Madrid head coach.

“Zidane is a legend as a player and as coach he’s been very good too,” said Brahim.

“The affection is mutual, we get on very well and I know he likes my game. I worked hard for those minutes, I was very happy with him and he with me too.”

Newcastle ready to move for Real Madrid striker

Newcastle United are ready to move for Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz.

Diaz has been a long-term target for the Toon, though his asking price had proven beyond former club owner Mike Ashley.

AS says now under new ownership, Newcastle are reviving their interest in the striker.

Diaz is available from Real Madrid ahead of the January market at a starting price of €10m.

The striker has struggled to make an impact in Madrid after being re-signed following a sensational 12 months with Lyon in season 2017/18.

Real Madrid offer Hazard to EPL club in exchange for defender

Real Madrid attacker Eden Hazard is being linked with a return to Premier League.

Cataluyna’s El Nacional reports as Real Madrid see the transfer as a ‘historic mistake’ and a ‘financial fiasco’, president Florentino Perez is said to view a Chelsea return as his only chance to recoup some of the huge fee he shelled out in the first place.

Los Blancos are also keen to take advantage of Hazard’s potential Chelsea return by nabbing Reece James, 21.

But they are likely to have to cough up a significant amount of cash in addition to Hazard if they stand any chance of sealing a deal.

Dani Carvajal has struggled with injuries and Real are crying out for a right-back.

Carlo Ancelotti is said to be a huge fan of the England star.

Ligue 1: I told PSG I wanted to leave – Mbappe

Kylian Mbappe admits he told PSG he wanted to leave this past summer.

In the final days of the summer market, Real Madrid had offers of €160m and €180m rejected by PSG.

Mbappe told RMC: “I asked to leave, because from the moment I didn’t want to extend, I wanted the club to have a transfer fee to have a quality replacement. It’s a club that has given me a lot, I have always been happy, the four years I spent here, and I still am.

“I announced it early enough that the club could turn around. I wanted everyone to go out to grow up, to go out hand in hand, to make a good deal, and I respected that. I said, if you don’t want me to go, I will stay.

“Me, my position was clear. I said I wanted to leave and I said it early enough. Personally, I didn’t really appreciate the fact of saying ‘yes, he’s coming the last week of August …’ because that makes a thief. I said at the end of July that I wanted to leave.”

La Liga: Real Madrid deserved Espanyol defeat – Ancelotti

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti questioned their attitude after defeat at Espanyol.

If the Champions League loss to Sheriff could be dismissed as bad luck or a mere slip-up, the defeat at the RCDE Stadium was far more concerning.

“We played badly, there’s not much more to say. We began the game with an idea, but we weren’t able to stay calm and stick with it,” said Ancelotti after the game.

“After the goal there was a lot of confusion. It was our worst game [of the season so far].

“Now we have the international break and we have to reflect and find out why the team’s attitude changed in a week.”

The Italian went on to explain what he meant by that attitude change and it was clear he was far from impressed with his players on Sunday.

“I noticed [the change in attitude] today,” said Ancelotti.

“We weren’t very aggressive, we lost out in duels.

“I’m referring to the technical and tactical aspect of the game.”

In an honest reflection on the game, Ancelotti was clear that Real Madrid deserved nothing from the game and that it hadn’t gone according to plan.

“We deserved the defeat, our reaction came too late and we are concerned, because it isn’t usual for us to lose two games [in a row],” said Ancelotti.

“Our plan was clear, I’m not going to explain now what it was.

“But it’s true that we seemed disorganised and we didn’t control the ball well.”

UCL: Real Madrid coach urges calm after Sheriff shock

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti urged cam after their shock 2-1 Champions League defeat at home to Sheriff Tiraspol.

The visitors jumped to a 1-0 lead, but a strong second half from Los Blancos, including a Karim Benzema penalty conversion, had everyone believing that the 13-time European champions would pull through.

But the match was turned on its head by a wonder goal from Sebastien Thill to secure the 2-1 win.

Ancelotti said: “We’re feeling down rather than being worried because we had the chance to have got the three points. The team did its job and played with great intensity and commitment and the fine margins have ended up costing us the game. We had lots of chances and could have done better in the final 30 metres. It’s difficult to explain the defeat when you look at the performance we put in.

“This could be a good lesson for the future. We’re talking about a defeat when the team didn’t deserve to lose, given how we performed. Sheriff defended really well and were tight at the back. We linked up well and broke through their backline many times and sent over many crosses. Where we let ourselves down was on the fine details. We’ve lost the game because we had a bit of bad luck.”

Ancelotti was booked during the game and added: “It was something with the fourth official, because I felt he didn’t show me enough respect. At the end, I told him that I’d managed 130 Champions League matches and it was the first time I had been booked for doing nothing. He told me I had gone onto the pitch, but the game had stopped because they were checking the VAR system.

“It’s a lack of respect and I told him so and I also told the delegate. I don’t want to speak about the refereeing.”

Why it was right time to leave Real Madrid – Varane

Manchester United defender Raphael Varane says this past summer was the right time to leave Real Madrid.

Varane insists he’s happy with his decision.

He told Telefoot: “I needed it, I think it’s a personal feeling. I need to have a new challenge, need to experience other emotions. My journey in Madrid was exceptional, above all the expectations that could be set.

“I’m leaving for a new adventure with a different atmosphere in the stadiums, another way of living, of playing football. And this is what will push me not to stay in my comfort zone, and to continue to progress, to try to be even more complete and to have an even more fulfilling career.”

Hakimi wants to return to Real Madrid – Conte

Former Inter Milan coach Antonio Conte believes PSG fullback Achraf Hakimi wants to return to Real Madrid.

Conte and Hakimi worked together at Inter last season as they won the Serie A title.

“Psychologically, Hakimi suffered a bit from last year’s games with Real Madrid,” Conte recalled. “His dream is to play for that club again as a key man.

“I remember those two games very well. From there, he worked a lot and I saw a young player who wanted to learn how to work. He understood that what he was doing in the offensive phase was not enough, now he is among the strongest in the world. If he keeps working on the last delivery, he can be world class.”

Conte also praised Hakimi’s replacement at Inter, Denzel Dumfries, formally of PSV Eindhoven.

“They have signed a great player to replace Hakimi. If he can make his way into the team, he can be a great replacement for him,” added Conte.
