La Liga: Modric pens down emotional note as Kroos exits Real Madrid

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has explained that he would miss teammate Toni Kroos after the Los Blancos confirmed the German’s exit from Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

Kroos will officially leave the Club after the completion of Euro 2024 in July.

Reacting, Modric, in a lengthy post on Instagram, expressed sadness at the news. He also described the former Bayern Munich star as a legend.

“Having a hard time writing these words,” Modric wrote.

“The football world is sad because a historic footballer is leaving, and I admit, I am also very sad. Man, you are a legend of this sport and a legend of Real Madrid.

“I really enjoyed playing by your side. It’s truly been an honour to share Real Madrid’s centre field with you. You have qualities that make you a unique and special footballer, and there will never be another Toni Kroos. Unforgettable European nights, titles, the magic of the Bernabéu—we will never forget this golden time in the club of our lives. You achieved everything but we still have one left; let’s go for the 15th. I’ll miss you, my friend.”

Before Federico Valverde put Real 3-0 up at the break, unleashing an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net in first-half stoppage time.

There’s a player at Real Madrid superior to Mbappe – Rivaldo

Rivaldo says that mantel belongs to Vinicius Jr.

“Considering what he does at Real Madrid, Vinícius is undoubtedly the better player today,” Rivaldo tells AS.

“Vinícius has a great chance of being awarded the Ballon d’Or. He is already doing very well, he deserved to be there already last season. He is now among the top three players in the world.

“And this year, with what he’s doing at Real Madrid, with the way he’s playing… he’s undoubtedly got a good chance to be the best player in the world, to beat Mbappé at the same price.”

UCL: Joselu grabs dying minute brace as Real Madrid beat Bayern 2-1, set up Dortmund final

Real Madrid football club of Spain have qualified for the final of this season’s UEFA Champions League after defeating German side, Bayern Munich   4-3 on aggregate.

The Galaticos came back from a goal down to snatch victory late in the game to grab the final ticket at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The game was delicately poised at 2-2 after the first leg at the Allianz Arena.

However, Substitute Joselu  struck twice in the dying minutes of the clash at the Bernabeu to seal their place in the final.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men will be looking to win the competition for an incredible 15th time at Wembley on June 1.

UCL: Real Madrid stun Bayern with two late goals to reach final

Real Madrid snatched an incredible semi-final victory as two late goals defeated Bayern Munich and set up a Champions League final with Borussia Dortmund.

Bayern looked to be heading to the final when Alphonso Davies cut in and blasted past Andriy Lunin after England captain Harry Kane had found him with a superb pass.

But Joselu grabbed an 88th-minute equaliser when he reacted quickest after Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who had been excellent up until then, fumbled Vinicius Jr’s effort.

There was even more drama to come two minutes later when Joselu, a former Stoke City striker, swept home from six yards after Antonio Rudiger’s square pass.

The goal was initially ruled offside, only for a video assistant referee (VAR) decision to show that Joselu was onside, sparking incredible scenes of celebration in the Bernabeu, with Real hanging on to win 4-3 on aggregate.

Real, 14-time European champions, will face Dortmund on Saturday, 1 June at Wembley.

There was controversy in the 13th minute of injury time at the end of the second half as Bayern’s Matthijs de Ligt thought he had taken the game to extra time.

A ball was played up to Noussair Mazraoui and the assistant referee’s flag was raised for offside, with a number of Real defenders stopping before Bayern’s De Ligt fired into the net.

Television replays suggested the original decision may not have been correct and that had the flag not been raised it would have needed to be checked by VAR, with Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel and a number of players including Kane and fellow Englishman Eric Dier strongly protesting against the decision.

  • La Liga: 5 key men in Real Madrid title triumph

La Liga: 5 key men in Real Madrid title triumph

The EA SPORTS LALIGA 2023/24 title winner is now in the history books; Real Madrid are champions for a record-extending 36th time in their history. Having been at the top of the standings for almost all the season, the consistency of Carlo Ancelotti’s side has seen them pull away from their rivals, most notably 2022/23 champions FC Barcelona and surprise package Girona FC.

But Real Madrid’s season has also stood out for the outstanding performances from a number of players, whose role was key in placing a 36th LALIGA title in the Santiago Bernabeu trophy cabinet.

    Jude Bellingham

The emergence of the England international in Real Madrid has been one of the themes of the year in European soccer. At just 20 years old, he’s often taken the lead for the side in some of the most difficult moments of the season, and also taken on goalscoring responsibilities to a degree which was not expected back in August.

Bellingham has scored 18 goals from both midfield and attacking positions, including three match-winning goals in both ELCLASICO fixtures against FC Barcelona, as well as crucial points-winners against RC Celta, UD Almeria and Getafe CF. More than just goals, though, the Stourbridge native has slotted seamlessly into the side and looks set to be the lynchpin of the Real Madrid midfield for the next decade.

    Antonio Rüdiger

With both Eder Militao and David Alaba out for much of the season with injury – in addition to an early long-term injury for goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois – the 2023/24 season quickly shaped up to be a difficult year for Real Madrid’s backline. Step up, Antonio Rüdiger. The 31-year-old German, who joined Real Madrid in 2022, quickly commandeered the rearguard, starring in both LALIGA EA SPORTS and the Champions League.

His performances will give coach Carlo Ancelotti a difficult but welcome headache when Militao and Alaba return to full fitness in time for the new season.

    Vini Jr.

Vini Jr continues to show that he is a differential talent. Karim Benzema’s departure last summer saw much of the attacking responsibilities fall on his shoulders, but he did not baulk at the prospect of stepping into the shoes of a man who’d led the line at the Santiago Bernabeu for over a decade. The result: 13 goals and five assists on the way to the title, in addition to showing time and time again the ability to break open deadlocked matches in an instant.

Like Bellingham, Vini Jr. has also had to adapt this season to Real Madrid’s tactical approach, sometimes playing on the inside as an attacking target, but always looking dangerous when he moves out left and creating one-on-ones with the full-back. There is no doubt that the young Brazilian continues to improve in leaps and bounds.

    Toni Kroos

While many considered that Toni Kroos’ best days were behind him at 34 years of age, the German international has been as impressive as ever. He remains a fixture for Carlo Ancelotti and continues to take control of games from midfield in the way in which we’ve become accustomed across his decade at the Santiago Bernabéu, notching seven assists.

Kroos’ contract ends this summer, but all signs point to his performances earning an extension for another season. His performances have also seen him revive his international career, and he’ll be a key figure in the Germany side gunning for glory in this summer’s 2024 European Championships on home soil.

    Carlo Ancelotti

The Italian coach has once again shown why he’s considered one of the greatest managers of all time. Many may have considered that last summer saw the squad weakened by the departure of longtime fixtures such as Karim Benzema or by time creeping up on Luka Modric, Ancelotti has quickly moulded the team around a young core – Bellingham, Tchouameni, Camavinga, et al. – and adapted it to play to their mental and physical strengths.

This season’s title win is his second LALIGA EA SPORTS title, cementing his legacy as the only coach to have won all five of Europe’s major leagues (LALIGA, Premier League, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1).

  • Mbappe will make Real Madrid unstoppable – Van Nistelrooy

Mbappe will make Real Madrid unstoppable – Van Nistelrooy

Former Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy says Kylian Mbappe addition to Real Madrid’s team will make the Spanish giants unstoppable

Mbappe is expected to join Real as his deal with PSG expires this summer.

Van Nistelrooy told AS: “Kylian is a very intelligent player and I’m sure he thinks it will improve his career. He is still very young, and to be able to win the Ballon d’Or he should play for Real Madrid.”

On where Mbappe will fit in Real’s attack, he added: “It is clear that it is compatible.

“Who plays as ‘number nine’ will vary during the matches, because Ancelotti gives the players so much freedom in the offensive. Sometimes Mbappé will start in that position, sometimes Vinícius, just like it has been this year, even Rodrygo. The speed of that trio, with Bellingham right behind them, will be unstoppable.”

  • Mbappe told not to join Real Madrid next season

Mbappe told not to join Real Madrid next season

France football legend, Marcel Desailly has backed Kylian Mbappe to take a surprise switch to the Saudi Pro League instead of the speculated move to Real Madrid.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that Hummels scored at Parc des Princes to throw out Paris Saint Germain from this season’s champions League.

Mbappe, who’s disappointed with PSG’s Champions League exit, is set to depart the club in the upcoming summer transfer window.

While Madrid has emerged as a prime contender for his signature, Desailly believes otherwise.

Giving his opinion on Mbappe’s potential move, Desailly highlighted the competitive landscape at Real Madrid, suggesting that it might not be the ideal fit for Mbappe.

With emerging talents like Vinicius and Bellingham in the mix, Desailly argues that Mbappe might not enjoy the spotlight he craves.

“I have said it already, I would move to a different continent. For him, I am not sure Madrid is the best place for him to be. We have Vinicius on the left side, a player showing the quality like Bellingham so he’s not going to be the full number one that he wants,” Desailly told beIN Sports (via talkSPORT).

“If you think about the business of football, for £350 million I would go to Saudi for a year, then come back next season – the year of the World Cup – aged 26 and a half, cash out and play football, because what does Mbappe want? He wants to play football.”
