AK-47 Controversy: Peace at last as Ortom, Bala Mohammed reconcile, embrace [Photo]

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed and his Benue State counterpart, Samuel Ortom have settled their differences over comments made on AK-47 amid the security situation in the country.

TheNewsGuru.com, TNG reports that Mohammed had on February 12 said Fulani herders have no option but to carry AK-47 for self-defence because they are being attacked and killed by cattle rustlers.

He also condemned South West, South-East Governors, and also Governor Ortom over the manner in which they are handling farmer-herder clashes.

Governor Ortom had on February 22 responded to his Bauchi counterpart of being a terrorist based on his utterances supporting herdsmen from carrying AK-47 to defend themselves.

Ortom also accused Mohammed of being a part of those threatening his life stressing that the Bauchi governor should be held responsible if anything happens to him.

Following the altercation between the two governors, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under whose platform they were elected into office, waded into their conflict.

Also, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and his Adamawa counterpart, Ahmadu Fintiri, initiated reconciliation efforts.

The efforts seemed to have paid off on Tuesday with governors Ortom and Mohammed embracing each other in Rivers State.

After a closed-door meeting at Wike’s private residence in Port Harcourt, the governors insisted that their arguments over a comment made by the Bauchi governor on the bearing of arms by herders were for the good of the country, not to cause an ethnic crisis.

  • Let byegones be byegones, reconcile with your kith and kin now, Clark tells Amaechi

Let byegones be byegones, reconcile with your kith and kin now, Clark tells Amaechi

Frontline elder statesman and leader of South-South people, Chief Edwin Clarke, has advised Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi to let byegones be byegones and reconcile with his his kith and kin across political divides

Clark recalled how Amaechi sought to be his son, but would later stay from him completely because of his (Clarke’s) close relationship with former President Goodluck Jonathan.

This was as the former Federal Commissioner for Information faulted the federal government’s recent naming of Agbor railway station after Jonathan, saying such honour which was bestowed on others diminished the status of a former President.

In an open letter to Amaechi on Thursday in Abuja, Clark harped on the need for Amaechi to commence reconcilatory moves with his kith and kin across political divides in his home state of Rivers and let bygones be bygones.

He wrote, “I wish to also use this medium, as I see it as my responsibility as your ‘father’ and leader of our people, to advise you, dear Hon. Minister, to go back home and consider reconciling with your kith and kin and friends both in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Let bygones be bygones.

“You will recall that the leaders of the South-South People Assembly, under my leadership, made every attempt to reconcile you with former President Goodluck Jonathan, but our attempts proved abortive.Even when the revered Rev. Jesse Jackson of the United States of America intervened in the matter in 2014, you remained adamant; you rather kept away from me and some of the leaders of the South-South.

“I remember you came close to me when former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Governor of Rivers State, Dr. Peter Odili, had issues with you. I supported you to the end at the time, because I felt you were treated unfairly. To the glory of God, things turned in your favour when the Supreme Court gave judgment in your favour.

“I recall, perhaps, that it was in recognition of my support for you, that you flew in an Helicopter to my country home, Kiagbodo, to visit and thank me in company of some prominent Rivers State leaders, Alabo Tonye Graham-Douglas, former Minister of Aviation, His Highness, Prof. Dagogo Fubara and Dr. Doris Fisher, whom you later appointed Commissioner.

“During the visit I can still remember with nostalgia, the three statements you made:You apologized to me on behalf of your cousin, His Excellency, Sir Celestine Omehia, whom you felt was disrespectful to me because of my support for you at the time. You assured me that you were not a cultist and that you were a devout Catholic, confirmed and baptized in the faith That I should take you as your son.

“I gladly accepted all of the above statements and things were smooth sailing between us, until you became a ‘super Governor’ as Chairman of the Governors’ Forum at the time. You started having issues with the President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, whom you felt I was supporting against you because of my stand on your attitude towards him. Since then, you completely stayed away from me, until this year when you called to congratulate and wish me a Happy 93rd Birthday. My dear son, it is time to let go. I pray Almighty God to guide, protect, give you courage and wisdom to perform your duties as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Chief Clark had stated that the main purpose of writing the letter was not unconnected with the naming of Agbor train station after ex-President Jonathan which he described as demeaning and humiliating.

According to him, “My main reason for writing this letter is on the recent action by the Federal Government and the Ministry of Transportation which is currently under your watch, that is, the naming of the Agbor Railway Station after His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, the immediate past President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“While it is said to be an honour on the former President by the Federal Government and your Ministry, the Ministry of Transportation, because it is a known fact that the resuscitation of rail transport is one of the legacy projects of the former President, but for us in the Niger Delta and indeed to well-meaning Nigerians this ‘honour’, diminishes the prestige of a former President when the honour is also bestowed on others. One is not in any way adducing that the others are not deserving of the honour bestowed on them, but the same way official responsibilities differ in importance and risks, same consideration should be borne in mind when honouring people”.

The elder statesman maintained that naming the railway station in Agbor, Delta State, ‘Goodluck Jonathan Railway Station and Complex’, is a misnomer.

He stressed that the umbrella body of the Niger Delta, the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), had issued a statement to condemn this action, which it described as “meaningless and belittling to the person and status of the former President”, and “demands the immediate reversal…. Instead, a befitting National Infrastructure should be named after him.”

“I am in total support of the position of PANDEF, as the Convener of PANDEF, and leader of the Niger Delta region,” he said.

Chief Clark was also concerned about how the Buhari government named train stations after late Pa Awolowo and two of his political aides without considering the status of the principal, Awolowo.

His words: “How can Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the Premier of Western Nigeria, be honoured with the naming of a Railway Station after him in addition with persons who were pupils who benefited from his Free Education Scheme in Western Nigeria? Even in giving National Honours, there are different awards for different cadre of persons.

“It will interest you to know, Hon. Minister of Transportation that Chief Lateef Jakande was one of the closest aides to Chief Obafemi Awolowo, and Mr. Alfred Rewane was one of his (Chief Obafemi Awolowo) assistants, who held the post of a Political Adviser. So how will such persons feel to be honoured equally with their principal?”

  • Olubadan, high chiefs reconcile after 26 months’ rift

Olubadan of Ibadanland Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji has, after 26 months, welcomed his estranged high chiefs and members of the Olubadan-in-Council back into his palace following a reconciliation move to end their rift.

The traditional ruler’s condition that if the high chiefs would return to the palace, they must not come with their crowns, was obeyed.
In a statement issued and signed by the Olubadan Personal Assistant/Director of Media and Publicity, Mr. Adeola Oloko, Oba Adetunji said there was abundant evidence that the returning high chiefs were being trapped from where they went.
The last time the Olubadan-in-Council meeting was held was in May 2017.
Members of the reconciliation team – Otun Olubadan Lekan Balogun, Osi Olubadan Rasidi Ladoja and Ekarun Olubadan Amidu Ajibade – arrived at the palace at about 12.15p.m. in separate vehicles.
About 20 minutes later, the Olubadan, who was dressed in blue ofi and white crown and half shoe to match, received them with open arms amid songs, drum beat and trumpet sound. He danced and sat on the throne and the high chiefs paid homage.
They later went into a closed door meeting, which lasted for about 40 minutes after which reporters and camera men were called in.
It was believed that a plea for another all-inclusive meeting involving other chiefs, who were absent was made before the royal father.
Olubadan was said to have agreed to convene the meeting on Monday, August 19, 2019, after the Eid-el-Kabir festival.
Although, the details of the meeting remained sketchy, the Otun Olubadan, who allegedly spoke at the meeting, called on the paramount ruler to summon the meeting of Olubadan-in-Council to resolve the crisis within.
The first class monarch, who thanked the returning high chiefs for coming, noted that his support for reconciliation was premised on the need for unity, progress and solidarity in Ibadan.
He told the returning high chiefs that he was all out to protect their interest all along, adding there was abundant evidence that they were being trapped where they went. He, however, added that time would tell.
Trouble started between the Olubadan and his high chiefs when the state government under Governor Abiola Ajimobi upgraded and approved the high chiefs as beaded crowns and coronets wearing obas alongside 38 others across the state.
It followed government’s review of the 1957 state chieftaincy laws.
The government said the approval was in line with the exercise of powers conferred on the governor by Section 28(1) of the Chiefs Law Cap 28, Vol. 1 Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria.
According to the government, 26 Obas would wear beaded crowns based on the approval and the remaining 22 would wear coronets.
Though , the government claimed its decision was taken after due consultation with members of the state’s Council of Obas and Chiefs, both the Olubadan and High Chief Ladoja distanced themselves from the decision.
They described it as illegal and unlawful and challenged the action in the court.

In her words:” WEDDING BELLS ARE RINGING?

I know that my Rebirth Fam @rebirthnetwork would be able to relate more with what I am about to share.

Gosh where do I start? My heart is racing…I still can’t believe it. I have prayed for it to happen for 17 years. At some point, I stopped praying about it because nothing changed, things only got worse.

My elder sisters called for a meeting, and between us, we wanted to reconcile my mum and dad but we didn’t tell them about it. I was so afraid. I wondered if they would come or if our plans to bring them back together would work. So, three days before the meeting, I started praying about it. I started imagining them together. I was just doing everything by faith.

On Sunday morning, I had cold feet. I was so afraid. “God, please do it this time”, was my prayer when I entered my late sister’s house for the meeting.

It was a VERY long process but yaaaaaaaay THEY MADE UP ??? They hugged each other and looked into each other’s eyes and started laughing. Then my mum started crying and my siblings and I joined in the tears of joy…

    I’m still in shock.

So fam, wedding bells are ringing ?? oh

THERE IS NOTHING GOD CAN NOT DO. DON’T STOP PRAYING. DON’T STOP BELIEVING. HE WILL DO IT IN HIS OWN TIME…

I join my faith with everyone whose parents are divorced or separated for whatever reason and I declare that the same God who answered my prayer after 17 years will do yours if you so desire “.

The “Jenifa’s Diary” star who has always been adored by fans for her stance on sexual purity, shocked them when she revealed in her book that she lost her virginity to her married music teacher when she was 17 years old.

  • I will never reconcile with Kwankwaso – Ganduje

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State on Wednesday ruled out the possibility of settling the rift between him and his predecessor, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Ganduje said at a function in Kano that he was completely disillusioned by the attacks against his leadership at the inception of his government.

He said, “We have had enough of such a vendetta, which had been raging with no end in sight. We have parted ways with Kwankwasiyya forever.

They have erroneously believed and have been telling people that we are on the road to losing our seat in the 2019 general election. I find such a permutation laughable and a mere ranting of a wounded lion.”

He urged members of the All Progressives Congress in the state to work towards the victory of the party during the 2019 general elections.

Recall that the former governor was scheduled to visit the state last two weeks but shelved the visit over rising tension and a possible clash between supporters of the two politicians.

  • TBoss, Kemen speak on reconciliation[Video]

Embattled Big Brother Naija 2017 housemates, TBoss and Kemen who were recently reconciled have revealed the real details behind Kemen’s disqualification during the show. Social media was the battle field where accusations and counter-accusations were thrown at TBoss and Kemen. While some TBoss fans accused Kemen of molesting the light-skinned beauty, Kemen’s fans also played the same card, blaming TBoss for allegedly consenting to Kemen slipping his hand into her pant. However, the duo have narrated the real details behind the drama that led to Kemen’s eviction.

In a chat with Media Room Hub, Kemen narrated his own side of the story. According to him:” Tboss didn’t lay the accusation. I wish I and TBoss had an opportunity to talk and analyze the video before I was evicted. There was no touch down there, there was no touch. The whole issue of green light didn’t come in; we had a mutual relationship in the house. My disqualification was not because of slipping my hand into TBoss’ pant, because I didn’t do it.But there was a case of touching her without her consent. But people twisted it. I have always wanted to talk to TBoss. As we get along, I will make it up to TBoss. If TBoss gives me the opportunity, I’d love to work with her business wise.”

TBoss in her account said she didn’t know Kemen was going to be disqualified. She added that she was shocked to hear of his disqualification, just like the other housemates.

Hear her:” I didn’t know Kemen was going to be disqualified; I found out the moment other housemates found out. I didn’t speak about the incident because I wasn’t ready and I didn’t want to be put under pressure. I felt betrayed with the interviews Kemen gave after the house, but now I’m in a good place and I have forgiven him. Myself and Kemen are now good, BossNation please stop attacking him. Accepting to reconcile makes us stronger. But this does not mean I knew what happened that night. Let’s just move on” she said.

  • Finally!Tboss, Kemen reconcile

Fans of Kemen and Tboss erupted in delight yesterday when finally Kemen and Tboss reconcile after months of not being on speaking terms.

The BBNaija stars had not spoken to each other since their return from South Africa, where the reality show took place. Kemen was alleged to have attempted to assault Kemen sexually and subsequently disqualified from the show.

The reconciliation was brokered in Abuja by Journalist, Azuka Ogujiuba and Charles Opaleke, a night club owner.

Before yesterday, all efforts to reconcile Kemen and Tboss who were friends during the Big Brother reality TV show failed.

Tboss in an interview with Ebuka had said she will never talk to Kemen again. She made this known on Rubbin Minds Show.

In her words: “I considered Kemen a friend. He was my go-to guy. He was my buddy, my muscle. He encouraged me. He motivated me. So for what happened to have happened considering all the people that look up to me, it was sad. I was angry.

“I was humiliated and I did feel violated but I don’t play the victim card. I honestly think that the decision that Big Brother took was the only decision that could have been taken. And everything that Kemen has to say about that, na him get him mouth, e fit use am talk wetin him wan talk but he knows and we know.

“I have seen him a few times but I really don’t want to talk to him because honestly the day you (Ebuka) came into the house with Karen, I was thinking what would happen if I see Kemen because I thought there would be a party after then. I just wanted to slap him”
