    Recruitment: Navy releases lists of successful candidates

    Nigerian Navy released on Thursday night two lists of successful candidates in 2019 recruitment interview held in Lagos between July 29 and Aug. 27.

    The Navy Director of Information, Commodore Suleman Dahun advised candidates to check their names at the website www.joinnigeriannavy.com.

    Training for the successful candidates will hold at the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School Onne, Port Harcourt, Rivers State

    The Successful candidates were grouped into two, with the first batch beginning their training on 18 October. The second batch will start on 8 May 2020.

    According to the information on the website, candidates are to come along with the following items:Two navy blue PT shorts, Two white round neck vests, one pair of white canvas, one pair of brown canvas, two pairs of black trousers, Two white long sleeve shirts, two black ties.

    Other requirements for the recruits are: One pair of black shoes, three pairs of white long socks, One pair of national dress, Original and photocopies of credentials, BVN print out, One set of cutlery.

    Candidates should note this warning: Any candidate who fails to report 4 days after the indicated dates will not be accepted for training.

  • Akpabio orders suspension of recruitment exercise at NDDC

    The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has ordered an immediate suspension of recruitment into the employment of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

    This was contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Minister, Mr Anietie Ekong in Abuja on Friday night.

    According to the statement, the new directive also requested the management of the Commission to compile and furnish the Minister with a detailed report on any employment exercise being undertaken within three days.

    It explained that the Minister’s decision was necessitated to guarantee due process as such action by the Commission ought to be evaluated by the Ministry in consultation with the committees of the National Assembly on the NDDC.

    “The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio has directed that the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), suspends forthwith any employment exercise into the Commission.

    “The Minister also directed the suspension of handing over of appointment letters, documentation and all other processes connected to employment into the Commission.

    “Senator Akpabio gave this directive in a letter issued by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Mrs Didi Walson-Jack to the Acting Managing Director of the NDDC, Dr Akwagaga Enyia.

    “According to the Ministerial directive, the Commission’s pay roll should not accommodate any new employees and should revert to the status quo as at August 31, 2019, while he should be furnished within three days with a detailed report of any employment exercise being undertaken by the Commission.

    “The letter said the suspension exercise is to subsist until a due process evaluation of the purported exercise is carried out by the Ministry in consultation with the two NDDC Committees of the National Assembly and sought prompt action of the Acting Managing Director on the matter”, the statement said.

    Recruitment: Kaduna shortlists 13,700 applicants

    The Kaduna State Government has shortlisted 13,700 persons out of 41,971 applicants that applied for recruitment, for the next stage of the exercise.

    In a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media and Communication to Governor Nasir El-Rufai, Mr. Muyiwa Adekeye, Wednesday, the shortlisted applicants emerged after an initial assessment.

    According to him, the 41,971 applicants had earlier submitted essays online and they were assessed for plagiarism and Use of English.

    The Special Adviser disclosed that, ‘’applications with a high plagiarism score and essay quality falling below the threshold set by the government will not receive further consideration. Email notices are being sent out to inform all applicants of the status of their applications.’’

    He further said that “candidates on the shortlist will receive email notifications of the dates for their computer-based test which is the next stage in the recruitment process.”

    It will be recalled that on 1st August 2019, Kaduna state government had issued a recruitment notice, inviting online applications for jobs in the core civil service and 26 parastatals.

    At the close of submissions on 26th August 2019, 41,971 applications were received all over the country, ‘’for entry level, middle level and management jobs,’’ the statement maintained.

    Giving a breakdown of the distribution of the applicants, Adekeye disclosed that “applications were received from all the 36 states and the FCT. Kaduna State provided 32,143 of the 41,971 applicants, followed by Kogi with 1,265, Benue 733 and FCT 730. There were 516 applications from Lagos State, 147 from Anambra and 18 from Bayelsa.’’

    “At the end of the first stage assessments, persons aged 35 or below constitute 78.48% of the shortlisted applicants, while entry level applicants are in the majority, with, 7,724 candidates. Kaduna State has 10,696 of the 13,700 persons on the shortlist,’’ he added.

  • FRSC denies report of fresh recruitment

    The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has dismissed as unfounded reports making the rounds that it has commenced fresh recruitment and replacement.

    A statement signed by Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, the Corps had recently concluded the training and redeployment of all commissioned Staff.

    According to the FRSC spokesperson, “the attention of the Federal Road Safety Corps has been drawn to a link circulated online that the Corps is carrying out another recruitment and replacement exercise, this is totally false.

    “The Corps had recently concluded training of its personnel who have been commissioned as fulltime staff and deployed to various formations across the states of the Federation, including FCT”.

    The statement added that, “by this disclaimer, the general public have been warned to desist from patronising these online fraudsters who are bent on duping unsuspecting members of the public.

    “Members of the public will be duly informed immediately the Corps commences recruitment into its services through appropriate media platforms including its social media handles”.

    The Nigerian Navy says it has released the list of successful candidates for its 2019 recruitment aptitude test.
    Navy Spokesman, Commodore Suleman Dahun, who announced this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, urged the candidates to visit its official site: www.joinnigeriannavy.com.
    He said successful candidates were to report for selection interview at the Nigerian Navy Secondary School Ojo, Navy Town, Lagos from July 29 to Aug.27.
    Dahun said the interview included screening and verification of credentials, medical, physical and written tests.
    Besides, the spokesman said candidates should come with two pairs of navy blue shorts and two white T-shirts, a pair of canvas and stockings.
    He urged the candidates to also come with bedsheets, pillow cases, set of cutlery, and four recent 30 x 30 passport photographs on white background.

    “They should also come with the originals and photocopies of their credentials as well as originals and photocopies of valid Driver’s Licence (Category H only).
    “Any candidate who fails to report for screening on the stipulated date for his or her Batch will forfeit his or her candidature,” he said.

  • DSS denies recruiting, warns job scammers

    Department of State Services (DSS) has debunked an advertisement being circulated on social media platforms that it is recruiting.

    It was the second denial in 48 hours by a government department. On Thursday, the State House Clinic, Abuja also debunked social media rumour that it was recruiting staff.

    The DSS said the job advertisement, published in its name, was false and should be treated as a scam by fraudsters to swindle unsuspecting members of the public, particularly job applicants, Spokesman Peter Afunanya said on Saturday night.

    “This statement, therefore, serves as an advice to potential victims to be wary of the misleading advertorial so as not to fall into the hands of unscrupulous persons that may defraud them. Those seeking information on recruitment into the Service are advised to verify such from its State commands and other formations.

    “Similarly, scammers are warned to desist from this inglorious act as the Service will not hesitate to bring the full weight of the law to bear on perpetrators”.

  • Nigerian Air Force recruitment is free – Official

    The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says its ongoing recruitment process is completely “FREE OF CHARGE” and executed in an equitable and transparent manner.

    Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, announced this in a statement on Friday in Abuja.

    Daramola said Information reaching the NAF indicated that some unscrupulous individuals were extorting money from unsuspecting applicants/candidates under the false impression that they can guarantee their eventual recruitment into the Service.

    He said the ongoing 2019 NAF Trades/Non-trades Men and Women Recruitment Exercise is completely free of charge.

    “The NAF wishes to reiterate that the entire NAF recruitment process is completely FREE OF CHARGE and executed in an equitable and transparent manner.

    “Applicants are NOT required to pay money to anyone for any purpose throughout the process.

    ” Accordingly, the general public, and especially applicants, are strongly advised NOT to have any dealing with anyone demanding money as a guarantee for recruitment into the Service.

    “Therefore, no applicant is required to make any payments to any individuals or bank accounts at any time during the recruitment process.

    “The NAF, while taking action to apprehend the perpetrators of the illegal activities, wishes to advise applicants who are solicited to make any payments to promptly report such to the nearest NAF Unit, Nigeria Police Post or through the following phone numbers/email address.

  • Aso Rock Clinic denies recruitment rumours

    The Permanent Secretary, State House, Abuja, Jalal Arabi, has urged the public to ignore notices of recruitment at State House Clinic currently making the rounds on the internet.

    In a statement by the Deputy Director, Information, Attah Esa, the permanent secretary urged the public to be more circumspect and wary of such notices.

    He said they were designed by mischief makers to deceive and extort unsuspecting job seekers.

    Arabi assured Nigerians that the sponsors of the publication will be investigated and prosecuted.

  • Recruitment: Customs speaks on applicants’ challenges on portal

    The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) says complains of applicants arising from recruitment portal has been resolved.

    The NSC Public Relations Officer, Joseph Attah, disclosed this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Tuesday.

    NAN reports that NCS opened its portal on Wednesday, April 17, for the recruitment of 3,200 officers and men to the service.

    Attah said the complaints were mainly on non-capturing of some institutions attended by applicants in the portal system and that had been resolved.

    “Some institutions were not earlier captured by the portal system, when our attention was drawn to it, we resolved that immediately.

    “Other challenges are on poor network which is not our fault but where the applicants are applying from and also the situation where applicants did not enter required information as demanded by the portal.

    ” There must be a little challenge, it is expected when people in hundreds are applying at the same time.

    “Though, we have a robust platform capable of taking this pressure. our server is effective and we are collaborating with some service providers to ensuring the exercise is efficient,” he said.

    The spokesperson who did not give the figure of the number of applicants so far applied, said the process was growing on 24 hours.

    The Nigerian Navy (NN) says it will hold an aptitude test for its 2019 recruitment on April 13 in 30 centres across the nation.

    Commodore Suleman Dahun, Navy spokesman announced this in a statement in Abuja.

    “The Nigerian Navy wishes to inform the general public that the Aptitude Test for the 2019 Recruitment Exercise will hold on 13th April 2019 in 30 centres across the nation,” he stated.

    Dahun advised applicants to visit www.joinnigeriannavy.com for names of shortlisted candidates.

    “Candidates are to report by 8.00am at their chosen centres selected during the online registration as indicated against their names,” he said.
