    NDE defends FG’s selection of beneficiaries for 93,731 jobs

    Mr Silas Agara, Director-General, National Directorate of Employment (NDE), said  the selection of  beneficiaries for the Federal Government’s 93,731 jobs for unskilled and unemployed persons was credible.

    He made the disclosure on Friday during the orientation and inauguration of the ‘Renewed Hope Employment initiative 93,731 Jobs’ and empowerment for programme held at the NDE Training Centre in Kaduna.

    “Inclusiveness has been a cardinal consideration as we designed this programme. We have ensured that a minimum of 10 persons from each of the 8,809 electoral wards in Nigeria were recruited to benefit from the 30 skill sets across our four core programmes.

    “NDE under my watch has ensured the adoption of cutting edge technology in the design and execution of this programme,” he said.

    Represented by the acting Director, North-West, Danjuma Shehu, Agara explained that 40,000 out
    of the 93,731 persons enrolled in the programme would  be receiving training in ICT and digital skills.

    According to him, the initiative was a deliberate step by the NDE  to equip the youths with emerging skills that would enable them to become globally competitive.

    Earlier, the acting State Coordinator, Hajiya Halima Waziri, stated that many people applied for the programme online but only  2,693 beneficiaries were selected  for  the state .

    She explained that the directorate would provide vocational, agricultural and entrepreneurial skills training.

    Similarly, it would provide complementary transient jobs opportunities in the public works sector using over 30 different skills sets.

    Waziri added that start-up capital, equipment and working tools would be provided for deserving participants at the end of the training.

    She stated that others would be linked to credit granting institutions to access loans.

    Waziri urged the participants to be serious with the programme by being punctual and paying attention to the  lessons to be taught.

    Meanwhile,some of the participants appreciated the government for the initiative, saying it would help tackle unemployment in the country.

    Mannan Benjamin, a graduate of Chemical Engineering said he was happy to be part of the participants, saying that he applied to learn Data Analysis due to the high demand of the skill.

    Similarly, Surayya Waziri, a student, who applied  for Agriculture said she was  hoping to learn Fishery.

    FG releases final list for Fire Service recruitment

    The Federal Government has released the final list of successful candidates in the Federal Fire Service (FFS) 2023 recruitment exercise.

    This was disclosed in a statement by Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary to the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) on Saturday in Abuja.

    According to the Secretary, the names of successful candidates had been uploaded to the Board’s portal.

    He called on applicants who passed the previous stage to visit the board’s portal; cdcfib.career, from Monday to check if they were successful in the final stage of the recruitment exercise.

    He further said that successful candidates are to proceed in printing their invitation letter from the portal.

    The statement also notified the public that the final documentation exercise will take place at the Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau Conference Center, Nigerian Correctional Service, National Headquarters in Abuja.

    “The documentation exercise will begin 10 a.m daily from Monday till Dec. 21, 2024. Applicants are expected to appear in white tops and shorts as well as come along with originals and photocopies of their credentials.

    “Applicants are also to ensure that they appear on the date indicated on their invitation letter and follow the information contained therein strictly,” it reads.

    Immigration warns against alarming increase fake recruitment

    The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has issued a stern warning to the general public against the alarming increase in fake recruitment activities being perpetrated by fraudsters.

    The NIS Comptroller General, Kemi Nandap, said this in a statement issued by the Service Public Relations Officer (SPRO), Kenneth Udo, on Wednesday in Abuja.

    Nandap said that these unscrupulous individuals had been deceiving unsuspecting members of the public with false promises of employment opportunities within the service.

    “The attention of the NIS has been drawn to the alarming increase in fake recruitment activities being perpetrated by fraudsters.

    “The NIS maintains that all recruitment exercises are conducted in a transparent, free and merit-based manner.

    “Vacancies are advertised through the NIS website, official government channels and recognised national newspapers.

    “The NIS is working closely with relevant authorities to apprehend those involved in these fraudulent activities and bring them to justice.

    “The Service remains committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity in all its operations,” she said.

    The Comptroller General urged the general public to remain vigilant and refrain from patronising fraudulent recruitment schemes.

    “Anyone who receives unsolicited messages or is approached by individuals claiming to represent the NIS on recruitment matters should report to the service through the following official channels.

    Oyo govt ready to deploy recruited teachers

    The Oyo State Government says it will soon deploy its 5,600 newly recruited teachers to public basic schools across the state.

    The Chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB), Dr Nureni Adeniran, stated this in a statement he issued in Ibadan on Tuesday.

    Adeniran, however, said the new teachers would first be uploaded into the state government database before the deployment.

    He added that the verification of the newly recruited teachers would be held at the headquarters of OYOSUBEB, Agodi, Ibadan, from Thursday to Dec.16.

    The chairman urged all candidates to come with original copies of all relevant credentials, such as evidence of the local government of residence, date of birth certificate, and the National Identification Number (NIN) certificate.

    Others he mentioned include educational certificates and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate for graduates among them.

    Recall that the Gov. Seyi Makinde-led administration recently released the list of successful teachers as it tries to consolidate the state’s educational standards.

    Over 33,000 applicants jostle for 2,000 job slots in Cross River

    No fewer than 33,955 applicants have applied to fill the advertised 2,208 job vacancies in the Cross River civil service.

    In a document, the state Civil Service Commission shortlisted 956 from the total number of applicants.

    The document dated Nov. 19 and signed by the Chairman of the Commission, Sir Maurice Effiwatt, showed that the number of applications included 31,818 for the core civil service and 2,137 for the state health sector.

    The government had advertised 2,000 and 208 spaces for the core service jobs and the health sector respectively.

    According to the document by the commission, from the 31,818 applicants for the core service, only 750 were shortlisted, while 206 from the 2,137 applications were shortlisted for the health sector.

    A further breakdown of the figure revealed that applications for clerical officers was the highest with 8,358 applicants, followed by administrative officers and messengers with 7,700 and 1,916 applicants respectively.

    The three least positions applied for were firemen, drivers and security with 370, 401 and 551 applications respectively.

    Similarly, in the health sector, applicants for the nursing profession were the highest with 1,184 followed by that of medical laboratory scientists and public health/environmental health that had 446 and 300 each.

    According to the Commission, respective applicants would be notified of the date and time for the interview.

    The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), says it is not recruiting and cautioned potential job seekers against falling victim to scammers.

    A statement by the Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO), Olusegun Ogungbemide on Friday in Abuja, said that the clarification became necessary following desperate efforts by alleged fraudsters to scam unsuspecting job seekers.

    He said, “The attention of the FRSC has been drawn to a publication by online platforms misinforming the public about ongoing recruitment of personnel into the services of the Corps.

    “This medium is to let the public know that the Corps is not recruiting at the moment, neither is there any ongoing arrangement to that effect, “he said.

    Ogungbemide quoted the Corps Marshal, Malam Shehu Mohammed, as admonishing applicants seeking to join the services of the Corps, as well as the general public to disregard the fake and misleading publications. He said recruitment processes in the Corps had always been transparent, credible and made public.

    Ogungbemide clarified that such recruitments were usually made public through placement of advertorials and notifications on all available media platforms, including the Corps’ website: www.frsc.gov.ng, our social media handles, and the National Traffic Radio 107.1FM

    “The public is by this publication warned to desist from any form of engagement with the purported scammers and purveyors of the misinformation as the Corps will not be liable should anyone fall victim,”he said.

    The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), has disowned an online publication on recruitment into the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

    A statement by the Secretary to the board, Mr Ja’afaru Ahmed, said that the information did not emanate from the board.

    “The board wishes to inform the general public that the purported online publications did not emanate from the board and as such, should be disregarded.

    “It also wishes to warn the members of the public to be wary of the activities of fake recruitment syndicates and racketeers,” it said.

    The board, however, said that the recruitment into the Federal Fire Service (FFS)), was currently ongoing and that shortlisted candidates would be dully notified of the next stage of the exercise.

    This, the board added, would be done by telephone messages and emails applicants provided during the process of registration.(

    Abiodun directs refund of recruitment fees to applicants in Ogun

    Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun has directed the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission to refund all administrative fees currently being charged in relation to the ongoing recruitment exercise into the state’s civil service.

    Mr Tokunbo Talabi, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), made this known in a statement issued on Thursday in Abeokuta.

    The governor directed the civil service commission is to refund all administrative fees, notwithstanding the fact that these are standard and historical fees that have been in place for decades.

    “These fees are charged by the civil service commission on behalf of third-party independent examiners who administer and supervise the Computer Based Test (CBT) ,” the government said.

    The government said it acknowledges the current economic situation in the country had also taken into consideration the ultimate aim of the recruitment exercise.

    “The aim is to alleviate the suffering of the citizens and create employment in the state.  This necessitates the directives to immediately refund fees paid along with a waiver for any new applications,” the government said.

    Shortly after announcing its recruitment exercise on Friday, the career website of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has broken down.

    The breakdown, according to NNPC Limited, was due to unprecedented traffic to the career page from applicants applying for vacancies.

    Checks by TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) shows the recruitment website of the NNPC Limited is currently experiencing slow load time.

    At other times, the NNPC career portal displays “page not found” with the message: “Oops! We weren’t able to find your Azure Front Door Service configuration.

    “If it’s a new configuration that you recently created, it might not be ready yet. You should check again in a few minutes. If the problem persists, please contact Azure support”.

    However, NNPC Limited has assured that technicians are working diligently to rectify the problem as quickly as possible.

    “Our team is working assiduously to accommodate the surge of applications,” the company stated.

    NNPC Limited disclosed that the application process deadline remains August 20, 2024.

    “While we acknowledge the keen interest of Nigerians in having an exciting career experience with us, we reassure all Nigerians of a transparent and merit-based recruitment process.

    “We therefore encourage capable Nigerians to take maximum advantage of this unique opportunity,” a statement by NNPC Limited reads.

    The Civil Defense, Correctional, Fire and Immigration services board (CDCFIB), has disowned an online publication on recruitment into the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

    This is contained in a statement by the Secretary of the board, Ja’afaru Ahmed, on Monday in Anuja.

    Ahmed stated that the board was only currently carrying out recruitment in the Federal Fire Service (FFS) and not with NIS as claimed by the online publication.

    “For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to inform the general public that the board is currently carrying out a recruitment process in the FFS only.

    “It will commence the next stage of the exercise in August and will conclude same before the end of September,” he said.
