    Singer, Lilfrosh remanded for allegedly assaulting girlfriend

    Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun of the Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Yaba, on Tuesday, ordered the remand of budding singer, Sanni Wasiu, popularly known as Lilfrosh, in the Ikoyi Correctional Centre for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Okeoghene Iyomaterie.

    TheNewsGuru recalls that Iyomaterie’s manager, Michael, had on October 5, 2020, on his Instagram page accused Lilfrosh of assaulting her.

    Lilfrosh, however, denied the allegation.

    TheNewsGuru gathered that Lilfrosh was invited by policemen at the Federal Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Alagbon, on Thursday, February 4, 2021, for interrogation.

    The victim, who noted that she had been friends with the artiste since January 2020, alleged that anytime they disagreed, it had always resulted in violence.

    She said, “He consistently slapped me on the face, kicked and pushed me on the other sensitive parts. The recent attack happened in September 2020 when he attacked me and rained blows on my head and I had bruises on my face.

    “I partially lost my sight and had sleepless nights. He repeatedly boasted that since he is a well-known musician, he is untouchable.”

    Lilfrosh’s prosecution was facilitated by the International Association of Women Lawyers, Lagos State branch.

    Lilfrosh was charged on one count of assault and pleaded not guilty to the charge.

    The singer had no counsel to represent him in court.

    Olatunbosun ordered his remand in the correctional facility and adjourned the matter till March 9, 2021.

    Trader, 46, remanded for allegedly raping 13-year-old girl

    A Makurdi Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday, remanded a 46-year-old trader, Sani Hashimu, in a correctional facility for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl.

    Hashimu, of 54, Bauchi Street, Wadata, Makurdi, is facing a charge of rape.

    The Prosecutor, ASP Hyacinth Gbakor, told the court that one Abdullazak Umuru of No. 8, Ejule Street, Wurukum, Makurdi, reported the incident at the Police Area Command, Makurdi, on July 12.

    Gbakor said that the complainant, on July 7, had sent his 13-year-old daughter to hawk groundnuts.
    He explained that on the girl’s way to the market, the defendant forcefully dragged her into his room and had canal knowledge of her.

    The prosecutor said that the defendant was arrested by the police in connection with the crime.
    According to him, the offence contravenes Section 284 of the Penal Code, Law of Benue, 2004.
    The Chief Magistrate, Mr Isaac Ajim, did not, however, take the plea of the defendant for lack of jurisdiction.
    He ordered that the defendant be remanded in the Makurdi Correctional Centre and adjourned the case till Oct. 9, for further mention.

     

     

  • Court remands eight men for ‘beheading’ policeman

    High Court in Plateau on Wednesday ordered that eight men accused by the Police of beheading a policemen be remanded.

    Abubakar Sani, Abubakar Mohammed, Hussaini Musa, Mohammed Zubairu, Abdulahi Mohammed, Ibrahim Usman, Mohammed Doma and Sadiq Abubakar were charged with culpable homicide of Sgt. Yunana Ishaya.

    According to the prosecutor, E.A. Inigbenoise, it was said that the men committed the offence on September 1.

    Inigbenoise said the accused persons attacked the Sgt. with an axe around Gordons Hotel, Zaria Road, Farin Gada, Jos North and beheaded him.

    He said that charms, which the accused persons believed would make them disappear at will, were found on them at the time of their arrest.

    However, the accused persons, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

    Trial judge, Justice A.I. Ashoms, ordered that they be remanded and adjourned the matter to December 14 for hearing.
