My reply to Tinubu’s wife after asking me to campaign for her husband – Dele Momodu

Ovation publisher, Dele Momodu, has revealed what he told Remi Tinubu, the wife of the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu when she asked him to campaign for her husband.

Momodu said Tinubu’s wife made the appeal during an event in Lagos State.

In an Instagram post on Friday, the former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential aspirant said he wouldn’t support Tinubu’s ambition, though he loves the APC presidential candidate.

Momodu explained that the “APC has done too much damage to Nigeria.”

He wrote, “Only two people, apart from the photographers, witnessed what happened between me and Senator Mrs Oluremi Tinubu yesterday, at the funeral service of Chief Mrs Kemi Nelson, at Archbishop Vining Memorial Church in Ikeja, Lagos. Before some people add salt and pepper to it, I need to state precisely what happened.

“Senator Tokunbo Abiru and Dr Tunji Olowolafe and I had walked in about the same time, and we went to greet my very dear Sister, Senator Mrs Oluremi Tinubu.

“Immediately she saw me, we exchanged our usual pleasantries, and then she asked me, “so Bob Dee, you’re not going to campaign for my husband,” I smiled and remained very calm before replying: “Your Excellency, I’m in PDP.

“She apparently didn’t find it funny and regaled us with the past I shared with her husband, and I tried to calm her down.

“Anyway, I went back to my seat and pondered on what just happened, and I soliloquised: “Before the PDP Primary, I had been asked repeatedly by journalists if I’ll dump PDP if I don’t get the ticket, my answer was NO. So if I had gotten the PDP ticket, would I step down for TINUBU of APC? The answer is No.”

  • Muslim-Muslim ticket: Orji Kalu replies CAN, says Tinubu’s wife is a pastor

Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has urged Christians in Nigeria not to worry about the faith of the running mate of Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Kalu stated this in reaction to the position of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) on political parties fielding a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the 2023 general elections as being speculated.

Kalu, who is seeking to return to the Senate, stressed that Christians should not worry about the faith of the running mate of Tinubu, adding that the wife of the APC presidential candidate, Remi is a pastor.

The Senate Chief Whip who made this known while addressing journalists at the National Assembly on Wednesday, “Let me tell you, in my house, my wife is the head of the house in reality”.

Kalu went further to say: “Even you men that are here now, that your wives aren’t here, they are the head. Like if I wear this cloth, my wife will tell me ‘My dear, this cloth is not good, remove it’.

“Your wife will tell you you are supposed to eat Akara and Akamu, whether you argue with her, you must take that Akamu. Your wife wants you to pay the children’s school fees, whether you argue or not, you must pay.

“The Christians should relax because Tinubu’s wife is a pastor and once she’s a pastor we are protected because she’s not a housewife. She has political knowledge”.

TNG reports Remi was ordained an Assistant Pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in 2018.

2023: I’ll work for Tinubu same way I worked for Lawan – Kalu

Meanwhile, the Senate Chief Whip has said he will work for the success of Tinubu in the 2023 elections.

Speaking with newsmen in Abuja, Kalu said he would work for the former Lagos State Governor with the same level of efforts he devoted to the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan before and during APC’s presidential  primary election.

Expressing satisfaction with the conduct and outcome of the primary election, he said that he had anticipated that the  party’s presidential candidate would  emerge through consensus.

He pledged to work toward Tinubu’s victory at the polls.

Kalu, a former Governor of Abia,  said that he was satisfied that the party held the primary poll.

“The party would have been  factionalised without the  primary.

“The next is to work for the APC and the APC candidate; we  have no alternative. I am  a  party man and  do not shy away from issues.

“Now, the way I fought for Lawan is the same way I will fight for Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.

He praised President  Muhammadu Buhari for not endorsing any presidential candidate.

The former governor expressed the  optimism  that the South East would  vote for APC in 2023.

“I will  always take my stand on any issue. I accepted that Bola Tinubu won and the whole party agreed.

“There is no doubt about his victory, and when there is no doubt about his victory, we just have to go to the field to work for our party’s victory.

“I pray that my constituency, the South East,  will  give us the same belief that they gave to President Buhari in 2019, which gave him 68 per cent  votes.

“I hope they will be able to give APC the same number of votes,” Kalu said.

  • I am angry, only keeping my anger-Remi Tinubu

I am angry, only keeping my anger-Remi Tinubu

Remi Tinubu, wife of All Progressives Congress chieftain, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has stated that it is true that Nigerians are angry but people must learn to manage their anger and put their emotions under control.

The Senator representing Lagos Central made this known on Friday while featuring on TVC breakfast show, ‘Your View’.

Asked about the rising insecurity in the country and the youths invading police stations, she said: ”Why are we condoning that young people are angry, angry over what? Who said I am not angry? I am only keeping my anger. Are you (presenters) not angry about things? Everybody has to control their anger. Who is not angry? I am angry about a lot of issues.

“You (presenters) were talking to me about a bill I have been trying to get for nine years ago and it is still alive. Do they (youths) understand what it means by waiting? Do they understand what it means by waiting in the morning and go to do your job?

“I remember because they say there are not jobs, I said I am going to start a programme – Work Experience Programme. We got about almost 200 youths.

“I know some people in some places and I said just employ them for just one-month internship. I will pay N40,000 for them to go. I will pay N20,000 for transport and then when they conclude and complete the one month, I will pay another N20,000.

“We did an orientation for them – how to work in a workplace. Some don’t even know how to work in a workplace. They don’t have the etiquette for workplace. We did the training for them. Would you believe that they employed almost 80% of them, they retain them and they were screaming there were no jobs.

“I need people to work with me but I need the right people. Morayo (Afolabi-Brown) knows that I am not one of those people you work with and you say, ‘No problem’. That’s no English. I know the people I interact with. Did I tell you there is a problem? That is a question I always ask. It is a slang that people are used to but in certain levels of governance, such languages are not ethical.”

Remi Tinubu remains adamant after calling woman thug

Senator Remi Tinubu, representing Lagos Central has said she never referred to Arinola Oloko, an educationist as a thug in Lagos State, venue of the Constitution Review public hearing for South West.

Senator Tinubu had vowed she won’t apologize for what she said after the video, in which she was seen involved in a shouting match, surfaced on the Internet on Thursday.

Tinubu is leading the Senate Committee on Review of the 1999 Constitution in the South-West and it was reported that residents queued to register before they were allowed into the venue of the event.

However, when the State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, came in through the back door, the front door was shut and the registration closed.

Those who were yet to register were said to have stayed in the queue, protesting their exclusion from the event.

Some lawmakers from Oyo State, who passed the queue and were about to be ushered into the programme, were allegedly followed by some residents, causing a commotion.

Tinubu was said to have shown up at the backdoor to allow the lawmakers in.

However, Oloko, who reportedly complained about being denied entry, was said to have decried the partial treatment and voiced out her frustration.

The senator, after beckoning on her and two others, reportedly called the woman a thug for speaking too loud.

The remark was said to have caused an altercation between Tinubu and those who heard her.

While expressing their reservation for the tag on the woman, the people demanded an apology from Tinubu.

“I didn’t call the lady a thug. I could not have called her a thug. I asked a rhetorical question. And you would agree with me that anybody who came and made the kind of brilliant presentation she made before us at the public sitting could not have been a thug,” Tinubu said.

However, the Lagos Senator regretted her intervention was misinterpreted when she heard of the commotion at the point of entry into the public sitting.

“I’m sorry, however, if some have misinterpreted my intervention when I heard of the commotion at the point of entry into the public sitting,” the Senator said.

Earlier, Oloko had explained what actually transpired between herself and Senator Tinubu at the venue of the public hearing.

Oloko gave the explanation on Friday, while reacting to the matter on a national television program monitored by our reporter.

The educanist explained, saying: “When we got there [venue of the public hearing], we were told the hall was filled and we demanded for speakers to enable us outside to hear what was happening inside and that is it. The rest is captured in the video”.

Oloko further stated that the public hearing in the South West was not properly organized and that a new constitution is what is needed, and not an amendment.

“I am not a criminal ma, was my response; because I can’t be, because I am not a violent person.

“The whole exercise is not properly organized. How will you use Marriott Hotel in Ikeja after inviting several people and you now claim that the hall can only take 256 people.

“We want a new constitution because this one has a faulty foundation. Once a foundation is faulty what do you expect. So, we need a new one to accommodate transparency, accountability and autonomy”.
