U.S. economy hits back-to-back negative growth, slips into recession

The economy of the United States of America (USA) has recorded two back-to-back negative growth in the year 2022, which can be said to be a recession.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that the U.S. economy shrank in the last three months by 0.9%, the second consecutive quarter where the economy has contracted.

In the first quarter of 2022, the gross domestic product (GDP) of the country decreased at an annual rate of 1.6%.

A nonprofit, non-partisan organization called the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) determines when the U.S. economy is in a recession.

An NBER committee made up of eight economists makes that determination and many factors go into that calculation.

However, the opposition Republican Party has said, no matter how the White House spins it, it is a recession.

“The White House can spin all it wants but the numbers are clear. We just hit two back-to-back quarters of negative growth putting us in a recession.

“No matter how the White House spins it Joe Biden has let down the American people,” a statement on the party’s official Twitter handle reads.

Reacting to the second quarter GDP report, President Biden said it was not surprising that the economy is slowing down. He expressed optimism about coming out of it stronger and more secure.

“Coming off of last year’s historic economic growth – and regaining all the private sector jobs lost during the pandemic crisis – it’s no surprise that the economy is slowing down as the Federal Reserve acts to bring down inflation.

“But even as we face historic global challenges, we are on the right path and we will come through this transition stronger and more secure,” Biden said.

AmericaDecides2020: Trump’s Republican Party submits ‘3,062 instances of electoral fraud’ to Attorney-General

The Republican Party in Nevada has sent a criminal referral of what it described as “at least 3,062 instances of voter fraud” to US Attorney General, William Barr.

The party explained that the alleged electoral fraud involved people who are no longer residents in the State but had voted after they had moved away from the State.

“Our lawyers just sent a criminal referral to AG Barr regarding at least 3,062 instances of voter fraud. We expect that number to grow substantially,” the party said.

It added, “Thousands of individuals have been identified who appear to have violated the law by casting ballots after they moved from NV.”

However, counting has continued in Nevada which currently shows Democrat Joe Biden slightly ahead of Republican Donald Trump by just over 11,400 votes, with 89% of ballots counted.

President Trump had earlier accused the Democrats of trying to steal the election, adding that there was “tremendous litigation going on” to stop the vote-counting in several key states.

  • West Virgina governor, Jim Justice dumps Democratic for Republican Party

Governor of West Virginia, Jim Justice, has announced he is leaving Democratic Party for Republican.

He made this announcement at President Trump’s rally on Thursday evening.

Justice said, “Today, I tell you as West Virginians, I can’t help you anymore being a Democrat governor. So, tomorrow, I will be changing my registration to Republican.”

Earlier in the day, Trump had teased a “big announcement” at the event in Huntington, West Virginia.

Thursday night, he praised the 6-foot-7-inch governor he nicknamed “Big Jim” for “show(ing) the country our agenda rises above left or right.”

News of Justice’s plans, which were first reported by The New York Times, surprised Republicans and Democrats alike in West Virginia.

Prior to the news, the West Virginia GOP had even published an ill-timed tweet attacking Justice for being “low-energy.”

But in a statement obtained by ABC News earlier on Friday, the West Virginia GOP Chairman, Conrad Lucas, said, “We look forward to Governor Justice reflecting the conservative values of our Party and platform.”

Lucas added to ABC News, “The rumours about Justice switching parties had been percolating since the legislative session. This wasn’t a new rumour for us at all.”

With Justice’s departure from the party, Democrats will now only hold 15 state houses across the country.
