Mr. Romanus Ejikeme, the father to Mmesoma Ejikeme, has tendered an apology after his daughter admitted to having manipulated her results unaided.

He said, Mmesoma lied to him initially.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that the committee set up by Gov. Chukwuma Soludo to investigate the alleged falsification of results of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination made the revelation on how the teenager forged her UTME results.

The panel, in a report addressed to the Governor on Friday, said that it reviewed Mmesoma ‘s JAMB results and conducted interviews with relevant parties, including JAMB officials and other individuals involved.

TNG recalled how Mmesoma’s father defended his daughter after the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), had accused her of using a software to manipulate her score to 362 as against 249.

“My daughter has been taking the first position from her nursery school till now. Some of these results are still with me and I have shown them to some journalists who came to my house and they were surprised.

“I showed her results to them and they were like wow. Those who have met with her will know she can’t manipulate results.

“I am just explaining to the world that my daughter’s result has been manipulated. I am not happy about it, they gave her result to another person and they are still intimidating her. What they are doing is not good” he said earlier.

Abiodun approves release of 2021/2022 promotion results, leave bonuses in Ogun

Gov Dapo Abiodun of Ogun on Friday in Abeokuta said he has approved the immediate release of results of the year 2021/2022  promotion exercise.

Abiodun, who disclosed this during the year 2023 Public Service Day Celebration, also said he has approved the payment of March and April 2023 leave bonuses.

The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Mrs Noimot Salako-Oyedele, said the action was important in order to appreciate the professionalism and enhance optimal performance in the public service.

The Public Service Day celebration has the theme “Building Trust Through Service Delivery: The Pivotal Role of the Public Service”.

Gov. Abiodun pointed out that his administration considered civil servants important partners in progress, saying their well-being and welfare were therefore sacrosanct.

He commended the harmonious working relationship which had continued to exist between the government and the entire workforce in the state.

“I, therefore, charge public servants to be dedicated and committed to the discharge of their duties, as the public service remains one of the avenues where integrity, as well as good legacy, are earned through adequate service delivery.”

Earlier, the Vice-Chairman, Association of Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries, Mr. Demola Badejo, had said the civil service in Ogun had always been in the forefront.

Badejo explained however that there was the need for public servants to continue to uphold the rules guiding their operations, in view of its important role of government’s engine room.

“I also implore the state government to continue to provide the necessary tools and welfare packages for public servants in order to enable them perform optimally.”

Speaking on the event’s theme, the Guest Lecturer, Tajudeen Aremu, urged public servants to build trust in order to win the heart of their superiors and the public.

Aremu, who is a former Oyo State Head of Service, added that ethics, accountability and service delivery were other key concepts towards building trust through service delivery.

He listed anonymity, impartiality, objectivity and confidentiality as civil service ethics which would earn public servants more prestige and respect from their bosses, politicians and the public if put into consideration.

“I urge public servants to learn how to dress modestly, be guided by the public service rules, as well as treat all matters as at when due,” the guest lecturer said.

In his welcome address, the Ogun Head of Service, Mr Kola Fagbohun, said the annual public service day celebration was meant to celebrate the values and virtues of public service to society.

Fagbohun described Abiodun as worker-friendly and purpose-driven, and praised him for his support and approval of this year’s celebration.

  • INEC deleted results on all BVAS we inspected – Atiku’s witness alleges

INEC deleted results on all BVAS we inspected – Atiku’s witness alleges

Mr Hitler Nwala, a witness of the  People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has told the Presidential Election Petition Court, (PEPC) that results on all the 110 BVAS machines he inspected were deleted.

Nwala, a subpoenaed witness, made the assertion on Thursday in Abuja while giving evidence as an expert witness for the petitioners in their petition challenging the outcome of the Feb. 25 presidential election.

The witness who was led in evidence by the petitioner’s lead counsel, Mr. Chris Uche, SAN, said that the machines inspected were only those from the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT).

He also told the court that he was a Digital Forensic Analyst and that he didn’t know at what point the results were deleted on machines.

Under cross-examination by counsel to the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), Mr Abubakar Mahmoud, SAN, the witness said that he attached a standard device used for such an exercise to the machine to arrive at the conclusion.

When asked if he had the authority of the commission to attach an external device to the BVAS machine, the witness answered in the affirmative.

Mahmoud further asked the witness if he was aware that inspecting only 110 machines out of 3,163 that were deployed in the FCT amounted to only 3.4 per cent of the total number of BVAS deployed in the FCT and 0.06 per cent of BVAS deployed nationwide.

To this, the witness told the court that he only compiled the report and didn’t take out time to calculate the percentages.

The INEC counsel attempted to give a BVAS machine to the witness to check if it was deleted as he had said in his report.

The witness, however, said that it would be against the ethics of his profession to collect the BVAS machine in open court to check it.

“It is professionally wrong to access a device that will be used as evidence in a court of competent jurisdiction because it will temper with the evidence.

“We cannot access the device directly, what we do is to extract the evidence and take it for analysis.”

Moreover, the witness told the court that since all the devices had the same model and looked the same on the outside, he couldn’t tell if it was one of the ones he inspected by merely looking at it.

For his part, counsel to the All Progressives Congress, (APC) Mr Lateef Fagbemi, SAN told the witness that neither he nor any of his team members signed the six-volume forensic report.

The witness, however, insisted that he signed the report as well as the certificate of compliance.

On his part, counsel to President Bola Tinubu, Mr Wole Olanipekun, SAN confronted the witness with a portion of his report where he said that from his inspection of the machines, “nothing was intrinsically wrong with them”.

“Were you in Abuja on the day of the presidential election?

“If you were not in Abuja, how then can you know that there was nothing intrinsically wrong with the machines on the day of the election?”

The witness said that he was not in Abuja and so he couldn’t have known if something went wrong with the machines on the day of the election.

After the witness was discharged, the petitioners went further to tender Forms EC8A series from 20 local government areas of Ogun, 17 local government areas of Ondo, 27 local government areas of Jigawa, and 20 local government areas of Rivers.

The Chairman of the court, Justice Haruna Tsammani adjourned the hearing of the petition until Friday.

Going by the pre-hearing report; Atiku and the PDP are expected to close their case on Friday.

They had asked for three weeks to present their case which elapsed on Tuesday but because they had lost three days, one being the June 12 Democracy Day Public Holiday, the court extended their time by three days.

  • Just In: INEC suspends announcement of Enugu results till today

Just In: INEC suspends announcement of Enugu results till today

The declaration of winner for the governorship contest of March 18, 2023, in Enugu State was suspended till Monday following complaints by both Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The PDP said it was not satisfied with the number of votes secured by Labour Party in Nsukka Local Government Area.

Also, Labour Party rejected the number of votes PDP got in Nkanu East Local Government Area and called for its cancellation on account of alleged irregularities.

Labour Party specifically alleged that there were cases of over voting in some polling units in the council, including Ibeagwa, Nike. The party also claimed that in some units, accredited voters were more than the number of collected Permanent Voter Cards (PVC), and identified Owo as one of the places such a thing allegedly happened.

Reinforcing the position of his party, the governorship candidate, Chijioke Edeoga who said that the process was marred by irregularities, also said what happened in Nkanu East Local Government was not election at all.

Edeoga also claimed that the result from Nkanu East signed by his party agent was different from what was turned in to INEC.

In most parts of Enugu State, the election was marred by obvious irregularities, but I want to focus specifically on Nkanu East Local Government Area.

Nkanu East has produced two different results. The result that my agent signed, which is available, is far different from the result which was taken to INEC headquarters and is now a subject of controversy.

“I want to state categorically that the position of Nkanu East Local Government is that the result of Nkanu East cannot stand; it stands against reason, stands against common sense. It stands against the records available of what is the voting strength of Nkanu East and it stands against the number of voters that were accredited and the number of PVCs that were collected.

So, the result of Nkanu East is not acceptable; it is not acceptable to the Labour Party and I call for its total cancellation, so that the due processes should be followed. At any point in time when the number of PVCs collected and accreditation do not tally with number of votes, one is enjoined to stay action and cross-check.

“Of course, you know that Udenu LGA, the electoral officer was whisked away and the results completely altered when she went in custody of INEC headquarters. What was collated in Udenu, that was going to be announced, is far different from what was announced when she was taken away.

virtually all the polling units, what was recorded is far different from what was uploaded. The PVCs collected and the accredited voters have no relationship at all with the votes ascribed to people.

“We are going to respond comprehensively, but I want to state categorically that the Labour Party and its governorship candidate in Enugu State do not accept the result of Nkanu East and we call for its cancellation. It is a flagrant abuse of the electoral process and such brigandage should not be allowed to stay; it is very injurious to every effort we are making to build a democratic system that is representative of the people’s will”, Edeoga said.
