Kano Gov reacts to alleged rift between him and Kwankwaso, says it’s unimaginable

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf has denied having any form of rift between him and his political leader, Rafiu Kwankwaso.

TheNewsGuru.com, TNG recalls that the media was agog barely two days ago that the governor snubbed Kwankwaso’s 34 calls, this gave credence to the fact that things were falling apart.

In response to the rising tensions within the party, the NNPP’s state leadership recently suspended Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, Secretary to the State Government, and Muhammad Diggol, Commissioner of Transportation, accusing them of involvement in the “Abba Tsaya da Kafarka” campaign. Both officials have denied these allegations.

As support for this faction grows, other prominent members of the Kwankwasiyya movement, including House representatives Aliyu Sani Madakin Gini and Alhassan Rurum, have publicly distanced themselves from Kwankwaso, encouraging Yusuf to assert his independence. Governor Yusuf, however, stood firm in his loyalty.

“It’s as if people do not understand the role Kwankwaso has played. Where were these critics when he was laying the foundation for what we are doing now?” he questioned.

Yusuf also expressed frustration with media reports suggesting that he had ignored multiple calls from Kwankwaso. “They said Kwankwaso called me more than 30 times, and I refused to answer. Where did they get this from?” Yusuf asked. “If not for my respect for journalists, I would have taken the person who wrote that to court. But I know, and Kwankwaso knows, that it’s all lies. There is no rift.”

Finally, he appealed to his supporters to reject divisive slogans, urging respect and unity within the party. “As of today, I don’t want to hear ‘stand on your own’ in Kano State or anywhere in Nigeria,” he said. “We were raised to respect elders, not to insult them.”

Civil society coalition condemns Dangote, NMDPRA, rift

The Centre for Credible Leadership and Citizens Awareness (CCLCA) has condemned the rift between the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Dangote Refinery, saying it is regrettable.

The coalition comprising no fewer than 100 civil rights organisations made this known in a statement signed by its Director-General, Dr Gabriel Nwambu, on Wednesday in Abuja.

“We hereby condemn the actions of the alleged fifth columnists who are determined to destroy the Nigerian State.

“We, therefore, express our concern over the disquiet caused by the outbursts of the Chief Executive of NMDPRA, Farouk Ahmed, regarding the quality of products and allegations of monopolistic tendencies against Aliko Dangote’’, he said.

He said it would be in the interest of the nation’s economy if all impediments to the smooth operation of oil and gas sector were addressed.

“In light of these concerning developments, the coalition in collaboration with selected civil society organisations, plans to visit the Dangote Refinery next week.

“This delegation, comprised of seven members, aims to assess the situation firsthand and stand in solidarity with Aliko Dangote against the unfair and damaging actions of the cabal.

“We urge the media and the public to pay close attention to this matter. The coalition is committed to promoting accountability, transparency, and fairness in the Nigerian oil sector.

“Our delegation’s visit to the Dangote Refinery aims to highlight the importance of supporting progressive initiatives that have the potential to drive positive change in our nation,” Nwambu said.

He called for peaceful resolution of the conflict in a manner that it would be a win-win- for all parties involved.

NAN recalls that while conducting media executives round the facility, Dangote complained of institutional obstacles to seamless operation of the refinery located in Lekki, Lagos State.

MI Abaga slams Yung6ix after being accused of being manipulative

Yung6ix, Nigerian rapper, and MI Abaga, his colleague have reignited their lingering dispute.

The drama started after a recent interview wherein Abaga appeared to have taken a swipe at Yung6ix.

In the interview, the rapper said he remains “the guy” in the country’s rap industry while talking about his past face-off with Vector.

He also reflected on his beef with Yung6ix, saying he was pained by his own action.

“If you don’t say I’m the guy, that’s a lie because I’m the guy, if I beef with you is gonna make you rich so you got to pay me. Even Yung6ix coming for the MC, that thing pained me, Me and Vector are cool even though we don’t chat on a daily,” he had said.

But in an Instagram video on Tuesday, Yung6ix fired back at MI, accusing him of being “manipulative.”

Recounting how the duo fell apart, Yung6ix said Abaga disappointed him on his first industry nite by failing to show up after they both agreed to perform together.

“MI and I are supposed to perform at my first industry nite. He told me he will come at the end but wanted all his artistes to perform. When all Chocolate City artistes performed, he switched off his phone and never came for the industry nite, we went past that,” he said.

The rapper added that the ‘Crown of Clay’ rapper also supported artistes who were constantly dissing him.

“What the f**k are you saying, MI? I hate it when people try to play wise and you have always done this. That’s why Vector called you a rat, you always feel that you can outsmart people and find your words to manipulate people thinking something is happening…,” he added.

“I won’t take that again, I have been quiet all this while because of the love I have for you.”

Reacting to the video on Wednesday, Abaga said he does not care about Yung6ix’s rant.

  • Obaseki’s deputy, Shaibu opens up on rift with governor, plans to dump PDP

Obaseki’s deputy, Shaibu opens up on rift with governor, plans to dump PDP

The Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has denied having any rift with his principal, Governor Godwin Obaseki.

He denied any disagreement between him and the governor and restated his unalloyed loyalty to the latter.

“I am happy with my governor; I don’t have any problem with my governor,” said the deputy governor who is rumoured of planning to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“So, the issue of not being happy with my governor is not there. I remain absolutely loyal to my governor,” the deputy governor said on Monday during an interview on a monitored Channels Television programme.

When asked what went wrong with the PDP on whose platform he was re-elected into office, Shaibu admitted there were some issues within the ruling party in the state.

“There are issues we need to resolve over PDP,” he said, although he did not categorically state whether he would leave the party or not.

TheNewsGuru.com, TNG reports that the deputy governor’s remarks come amid reports that he had purportedly concluded arrangements to dump the PDP for an undisclosed party, as a result of a rift over matters bothering on the running of the state.

He was said to have held a series of meetings with some party bigwigs outside the country last week where the supposed plans were finalised.

But the Chief Press Secretary of the deputy governor, Ebomhiana Musa, denied the reports in a statement on Monday, saying they were mere speculations.

According to Musa, claims that Shaibu plans to leave the PDP are complete falsehood and the figment of the authors’ imagination.

TNG recalls that Governor Obaseki, with Shaibu as the running mate, first contested the governorship election in the state on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and won, defeating Mr Osagia Ize-Iyamu who was the PDP candidate at the time.

Four years into office, the governor and his deputy sought to be re-elected in the September 2020 election and won again.

In what can be described as a dramatic turn, they defeated Ize-Iyamu who had later joined the APC while they ran on the PDP platform, following a disagreement with the former APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

  • No rift between Buhari and NASS – Dogara

The Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, says the National Assembly does not hate President Muhammadu Buhari.

Dogara said this on Saturday at the kick-off of the Peoples Democratic Party campaign for the governorship and National Assembly candidates in Bununu, Bauchi State.

None of us hates President Buhari and we are not against him, but we are only exercising our independence as contained in the Constitution.

We are all looking at the plight of our people, especially insurgency, poverty and other vices that have continued to bedevil the masses.

You can see what is happening between the American president and the legislature which is normal,” he said.

Dogara recalled that NASS had, sometime last year, initiated a bill for the autonomy of Local Government Areas but regretted that it was aborted by State Assemblies.

He emphasised that the autonomy would have brought development to rural areas where the majority of the people lived.

Dogara stated that Alhaji Abdulkadir Muhammed, the Bauchi State governorship candidate of the PDP would decentralise the local government system in the state, even without the approval of the Federal Government.

The Speaker said that personal efforts made by him to reconstruct mosques and schools in his counstituency were scuttled by some individuals.

He warned the people against trying to instigate trouble in the areas, saying that “it is always retrogressive.”

The governorship candidate, Mohammed while addressing the gathering, called on the people of the area to resist the proposal by Independent National Electoral Commission to relocate collation centre from Zwall to Dass.

Mohammed, who stressed the need for people to change the present administration in the state, assured them that PDP would take over the state in the 2019 general elections.

He pledged to provide functional education, infrastructure and agriculture, if elected into office.

  • Anti-corruption war: AGF denies rift with EFCC

Anti-corruption war: AGF denies rift with EFCC

The Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) Abubakar Malami (SAN), on Thursday denied speculations making the rounds about a rift between him and Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibrahim Magu, on the handling of high profile criminal cases.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that a recent letter from the office of the AGF directed the EFCC to forward files on about 35 high profile cases, involving ex-governors and other prominent individuals to his office for vetting and further directive.

The directive ignited speculation about a possible rift between the AGF and Magu, with many expressing doubt about the AGF’ true intention. Some even claimed the directive was a prelude to the AGF’s office’s eventual take over of the cases.

Speaking in Abuja on Thursday, Malami said there was no rift between his office and the EFCC leadership.

Malami, who was reacting to questions after an event held in his office, said he did not believe the letter to the EFCC was an evidence of a right between his office and the EFCC or that his office intended to take over the cases.

Malami spoke on a forthcoming “national summit on justice,” slated for August 8 and 10 in Abuja. He also unveiled the upgraded Federal Ministry of Justice’s website and Freedom of Information (FOI) Compliance portal.

Malami said the summit, to be attended by stakeholders in the justice sector, was intended to consider, adopt and validate the draft National Policy on Justice (NPJ), developed by a technical committee constituted by the Federal Ministry of Justice in 2016.

On the need for a national justice policy, the AGF said: “Given the challenges militating against an effective administration of justice and the peculiarity of our federal system, there is the need to harmonize and integrate the various reforms initiatives into a clearly articulated National Justice Policy.

The policy is expected to clearly define Nigeria’s political philosophy with respect to justice delivery and provide a common direction for the justice sector stakeholders across the nation.

The policy, in broad term, is expected to set out a common vision and provide the guidelines for promoting an effective justice system that guarantees the freedom of the people and socio-economic development of the nation.

This policy will therefore, serve as a policy framework upon which relevant institutions can situate regulations and legislation in line with best practices and principles,” Malami said.
